Title: Re: help antminer s9 please Post by: BitMaxz on October 30, 2021, 05:58:33 PM I suggest you edit your post put the kernel log inside the insert code you can find it when you edit your first post and look for "#" button.
i'll do the test as soon as i get a new fan, but would there be another possible error? because 2 hash cards are showing 0 hash and one of them the status is not complete Anyway, the other error looks related to temp sensor but I think it's because of the fan that giving a false signal that could affect other hashboard. You can try to run it on Braiins OS to test if the 3 hash boards will run normally. Then check the Kernel and system logs and paste them here for analysis. Code: [ 0.000000] Booting Linux on physical CPU 0x0 Title: Re: help antminer s9 please Post by: philipma1957 on November 01, 2021, 02:46:04 AM here now only chain 5 is working, chains 6 and 7 are not working, what do you think it is? I will send the kernel as is Code: [ 0.000000] Booting Linux on physical CPU 0x0 That fan error must be corrected. No more complex than this. The gear will never work with that fan reading at 30,000. Now as I said the fan could be the issue. the controller could be broken. the firmware has an issue. the most likely problem is the fan you could load braiins on a sd card and try to set it for 1 fan maybe it works which indicates a firmware issue. I have repaired multiple s9's with this issue a new fan and or an sdcard with braiins software usually fixes it. some times it does not and a new controller its needed. lastly all three may not work and the boards are dead. Title: Re: help antminer s9 please Post by: sladejr on November 01, 2021, 04:02:20 AM the only test I still couldn't do was changing the fan but I'll do it soon, but I've tested the firmware change and it didn't work and the control board started to show some problems like when I turn on without the signal cables it's lighting up the lights as if they were connected
Title: Re: help antminer s9 please Post by: sladejr on November 01, 2021, 04:22:44 AM how do i disable fan by braiins? could you show me how to do it?
Title: Re: help antminer s9 please Post by: BitMaxz on November 01, 2021, 06:01:03 PM how do i disable fan by braiins? could you show me how to do it? It should work without disabling the fan but you can read this - https://docs.braiins.com/os/open-source-en/Configuration/index_configuration.html#temperature-and-fan-control You can also try to repair the fan maybe that fan that gives you a false signal have a cut wire connection if you have a multimeter check the connection from the yellow wire it should be for RPM signal and the BLUE one should be the PWM usually if this one has no connection the signal for PWM always fixed at 100%. So focus on the yellow wire you can check the terminal or plug if there is corrosion clean it with petrol or laquer flo thinner or if you don't have then you can try alcohol it would also work. Or you can replace/jumper the yellow wire directly to the control board. Title: Re: help antminer s9 please Post by: mikeywith on November 01, 2021, 11:23:52 PM I am not sure how Phill and Bitmaxz missed this part
Code: driver-btm-c5.c:9887:if_avg_hash_ok: avg hash rate = 4443.857658, ideal hash rate = 13500 Well, it's probably OP's fault for not adding screenshots of the miner status page, anyway the miner seems to be working just fine despite the wrong fan reading, it's very common for these cheap fan replacements to report 30k rpm, but most of the time the miner will work just fine. Your issue isn't fan-related, you simply have two dead boards and it shows very clearly the full kernel log you posted in the last post Code: driver-btm-c5.c:13449:bitmain_c5_init: retry Chain[J7] has 0 asic J7 and J8 are showing <63 Asics which is why they won't work, it's the reason why in the first log the miner reported 4.4th out of the ideal 13.5 which is really just about ideal/number of hashboards, your miner worked fine all along with a single hash board, if it keeps rebooting then it's because it's trying to detect chips on the other two hash boards, which are likely dead and gone, so just unplug them and leave the miner with one hash board. Of course, try the Sdcard firmware upgrade method and whatnot, you might get lucky, also try to test the hash boards one by one just to eliminate PSU-related issues. Title: Re: help antminer s9 please Post by: sladejr on November 02, 2021, 02:35:00 AM Code: [ 0.000000] Booting Linux on physical CPU 0x0 https://imgur.com/a/43Xo4TM Title: Re: help antminer s9 please Post by: mikeywith on November 03, 2021, 12:01:04 AM It doesn't change anything, I could see what is in the photo from the kernel log in your first post, as I said chances are you have two dead hash boards and only one working fine, the probability of this being the case is 90%, the other 10% would be firmware/PSU, i explained to you how to troubleshoot those in the previous post as well. On a side note, what kind of firmware are you using? this doesn't look anything like the stock firmware. |
