Title: BitMEX has blocked accounts for no reason. More than 1000 BTC have disappeared!!
Post by: vanste on November 02, 2021, 06:15:58 AM
Hey guys,
I have troubles with my BitMEX accounts. It started with giving troubles and withdrawal cancellations and escalated in blocking my two accounts without stating a reason. As BitMEX was keeping the accounts blocked, i repeatedly asked their support team for an explanation and enabling the accounts. It resulted in asking me subsequent identification questions, which i properly answered of course, just to be told after some time that both accounts have zero balances and that I have never had in them what I in fact had. I have screenshots with more than 500 BTC in one of the accounts. I have together in my BitMEX accounts more than 1000 BTC - and they’re denying my access to them on absolutely no grounds (!). Does anyone else have the same or similar trouble with BitMEX? Did anyone try to sue BitMEX? Please share any experience in this respect! We are ready to team up!

More than 1000 BTC in your accounts yet your accounts weren't verified?
How was that possible now that Bitmex have been having strict verification requirements for almost a year?

My suggestion is you keep pushing Bitmex support until at least they tell you why they blocked your accounts, that is, if you genuinely acquired the BTC. No one is going to help you here about that issue.

I'm not sure about BitMEX specifically, but AFAIK, most exchanges out there allow you to deposit and only ask you to verify your identity when you're either trying to trade or making a withdrawal.

Yeah, most exchanges do that, but it's a little different for Bitmex especially when they started enforcing strict KYC requirements (https://blog.bitmex.com/accelerating-the-bitmex-user-verification-programme/) about a year ago

I have just created a throwaway account and can confirm that one cannot make a deposit until they first verify

BitMEX blocked accounts before strict KYC. I have blocked accounts for over a year. I try to communicate with support, but they don't want to tell me the reason why they blocked the accounts.
I am trying  to find some people with the same or similar experience with BitMEX.

How many actual accounts you've made there and how many have you verified with the same KYC/identity?

On this thread: https://bitmex.freshdesk.com/en/support/solutions/articles/13000080259-can-i-have-more-than-one-bitmex-account-

They're allowing up to three accounts only per user so if you probably made more than three then you've surpassed the limit and that might be the reason why they've banned/blocked your accounts.

I have only two accounts. If they have a problem with number of accounts they can say it. But they avoid telling the reason why they block the accounts.

It's on that link that I've given but if you only have two accounts then you haven't reached the limit that they allow. If they don't really disclose the reason for closure or blocking of their accounts.

There's no way to figure it out unless someone who has the same experience as you comes here and tells their experience and you can't force them to say the actual reason. But it's odd if they don't since if there's a violation of terms made by someone, they have to tell it.

Did you deposit this BTC just recently or did you hold it for a long time on Bitmex? is the account was created a long time ago and verified?

Actually, it's a huge amount of money they might think that you are suspicious. If you deposited such a huge amount without the account being verified and just recently verify it because you have a problem withdrawing the BTC then I believe this would be problematic. It could take months or a year before they will let you allow to withdraw based on what I heard from other people experienced.

Keep contacting the support and try to ask them what you should do to solve this case.
Or you can spread this issue on their social media accounts if they can't able to answer you on emails.

Denying you've never had the funds you actually do is blatant theft. Users can't recover something they don't have unlike the typical account termination where they still have a chance...

OP, would you be willing to provide proof backing your claims here? (screenshots, emails, etc..). Open a scam accusation thread and follow the recommended format (Scam Report Format (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.0))

I'm a little bit curious about your case because around 10 months ago you already admitted that you were going through some serious problems with BitMEX's services. Of course, I wonder why you're still sticking it out with BitMEX until now, with tens of millions of money in BTC, when you've had your fair share of withdrawal cancellations and suspensions already. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't be trusting BitMEX anymore with my millions.

Anyway, it's best to consult a lawyer if BitMEX will remain to be unresponsive. With more than 1000 BTC locked, it is worth spending money to get it back.

The accounts were created a long time ago. I am trading on these accounts.

That problem is not about depositing huge amounts of BTC or with AML or something similar.

I try to communicate with support, but they avoid answering. I try everything. Now I only want to find some people with the same experience, because I think it is not only my problem. I think that they try to "scam" some other people.
