Hello everyone,

I'm glad to finally become part of this oldest and best Cryptocurrency forum. Firstly, I'd like to say a big thank you to LoyceV who took the time to whitelist my account, and to everyone who's contributing to keep this place the biggest and healthiest place to discuss Bitcoin and to make deals.

Throughout this week, I'll be taking my time to learn how things works here, and to get fully acquainted with the community. Hopefully, I'm able to get things right.

I know it takes time to grow ones Reputation in a forum like this and I'm willing to put in the work and wait the wait. While I'm new to this forum, I'm certainly not new to the Crypto world. Over all, I'm here to add every little value I'm able to make, and to benefit from the immense experiences of other great members of this this forum.

Welcome! The forum can at times be intimidating and chaotic, but that seems to be the name of the game in crypto. If you can, contribute to your local board in your native language, and also please contribute to the scams and accusations page as much as you can. Anyone can benefit from scam spotting and the community here makes sure that everyone knows who the scammers are. And have fun :)

What do you mean by LoyceV white listing your account?

And you just joined and talking about one's reputation here already? Why don't you just enjoy the community first if you are really into crypto and then just read as much you can and try to absorb knowledge. I know it's gonna be overwhelming for a 'beginner', but that's what majority of us here went. And the process is so much gratifying, I will assure you.  :)

The reason why she created this thread was just to get some merits as you think, I believe most people won't have the feelings of giving her any cause there are a lot of ways newbies can get 5 or more merit easily but she could have just created this thread as an appreciation and the excitement of her burden being eased without paying the evil fee if we think about how hard it would have been for her a newbie.

Welcome to the forum, you say you're not new to crypto...you also do not appear as entirely new to bitcointalk. Newbies do not know we make "deals" here. It is either you have been lurking around the forum for a while or you have a friend who is a member of the forum and I'm guessing he told you some things. No. Not at all. As a long time forum user who's well recognized in other forums such as NamePros and DNForum, it is important that I introduce myself in this forum where I plan to becoming a long term member too. I careless about Merit awards for now but nothing stops you from giving some if you think it's deserved.

OP must have been unable to create a new account because of "units of evil (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=711968.msg8044683#msg8044683)" associated with his IP.

@OP if you are not yet familiar with the forum rules and other things I suggest reading the link Magicalking shared it'll help you learn more about the forum and navigate through the forum.

Had the same fishy thought here, for someone as a brand new account s/he has known almost the whole things how this forum works generally and top of that already aiming for gaining reputation. Theres a high chance s/he has another account before (or maybe a ban evader)

Personally just heard about this "whitelisting", I guess it might relate to collecting forums account data done by loycev

If he is evading a ban, he will eventually get caught. moderators will nuke the account whatever reputation he wants to build will not matter
LoyceV decided to help newbies who could not register because of the evil fee associated with their IP addresses. I think how it works is you send LoyceV a mail stating why you want to join the forum, he has questions for the newbies as well. Reputable members can also recommend an account to be whitelisted

1. I'm a VIP member at NamePros.com. VIP at namepros is similar to Legendary here. So, it shouldn't be surprising to you guys if I understand the value of reputation.

2. I was once an admin at a popular forum that runs on the same SM software as this. Therefore, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that I'm able to understand what goes on here and able to navigate my way.

The level of hostility here to a new user is quite unbecoming to say the fact. You guys are acting as if someone is here to take your piece of meat. Why that?

Please, be rest assured that I'm more of adding values rather than taking. Not every newbie that is here is coming straight off from the wood.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so welcome to the forum.

The reason for this "hostility", which I would rather call skepticism, is that we are sick of seeing newbies creating threads like this one to fish for merits, people who are later found to be alt accounts of other accounts that have been banned or red trusted.

This is the internet and we don't know anything more about you than you are someone behind a nickname, so understand our skepticism. If you make good use of the forum, you will gain merits and reputation.

Nevertheless, let the first merit be your motivation for successful growth. You seem pretty convincing to me, and I really trust LoyceV. Since LoyceV believed you, I tend to do so too. You don't need to prove who you are and where you came from now. People are used to not trusting newbies, so don't be surprised, but don't prove anything either. Time will put everything in its place. And I really hope that we will not be disappointed in you.

By the way mate. In posting you can also do quoting others response in a single post topic. Just like the post above this, you can merge it even your reply to other people so you can save spare post. Replying to every other user isn't bad but you can do it in one post if the message you are gonna do isnt that long.

Also regarding recommendation of section, then focus on BH and sections that are your interested with to learn. We have plenty of choices here.

I usually do not comment on threads like these, cause they are usually merit/attention hunting posts made with very little quality or care. This could yet be one of the same, but the OP obviously put effort into making it and also to reply follow up comments.

Welcome to this community, in your time browsing through you'll identify the accounts that contribute positively and those who troll. The forum is a healthy place, but you will need to grow a thick skin, cause; this is the internet. Also, when making deals, beware of scams which are not moderated here.

Well, pretending to become a newbie play isn't something new here, as time goes those accounts found out were actually alt of others that got banned or has bad reputation later on. Thats why some people here have such kinds of thoughts, so understand and don't be discouraged just because of it.

FYI, this forum is totally against plagiarism and gives a permanent ban to anyone who does so. In case you share something that took from other sources/articles then you have to embed the sources link in your post.

Don't mistake someone who (claims) I whitelisted (them) for me vouching for a user. First, you can verify who I whitelisted (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5350260.msg57505682#msg57505682) (and in this case it's true), but basically all I ask from a user is to convince me they're not going to spam. Most failed to convince me, some succeeded. Until now, none of them has been banned, so I take it I'm on the right track.
I'm just trying to do my share in helping real users who get hit by evil fees without deserving it.

I don't trust most Legendary users either ;) "Trust" doesn't come easy in crypto.

I hope it's true the sentence that you are here to stay :) and to read from you from now on and to keep learning together and with the help of other members too.

The problem with most newbies is that there is a stigma created and branded towards them due to their notorious spamming and begging across the forum. In addition to that problem, most newbies also are the ones that are involved into scams, etc. which completely affects genuine newbie users in the forum.

Though the number of merits of a user is NOT an absolute indicator of his trust rating, most newbies that do not earn merits (but are actually decent users) gets affected by this whole stigma. That is the reason on why "newbies" are sometimes frowned upon by some users.

Quite understandable, and as someone who is running content platforms, I quite agree with you. 90% of blog post we moderate every day are spams or outside scam attempts. And 99% are always from brand new accounts.
I'm flattered really. When I created this thread, the only thing on my mind was to say hello to the community. Little did I know it would be well received.
