Title: [AUCTION] Coinkite card
Post by: hephaist0s on November 13, 2021, 07:16:59 PM
This auction is for one Coinkite card. While Coinkite still exists, I don't believe this card system does. Frankly, I don't remember how it worked in the first place -- maybe someone out there can remind us? I can't even put a solid time frame on it. But for anyone building a Bitcoin museum, this is another little piece of the history.

I am the original owner.

Starting bid: .0001 BTC
Bid increments: .0001 BTC
End time: Tuesday 11/16/2021 at 4:00 PM ET (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/new-york (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/new-york))

Sniping: Any bids within the last 30 minutes will cause the auction end time to be extended by 30 minutes, until there are no more bids.

Shipping: US shipping is .0002 BTC. Buyer pays international shipping at a rate to be determined (shipping from US). Escrow is welcome, but fees must be paid by the buyer.

Reputable bidders only.

Watch out for scammers & make BTC payments only to this address, which is in my signature: 1H78y8FVeQrWY6KnxA6WLFQGUoajCuiMAu. Altcoin payment is a *possibility* which may be discussed at auction close, but if so the agreed terms will be published here in the auction thread -- do not fall for scam DMs!

Nice! I also have one of these. Very nice to add to a collection. Does yours have txn history?

My recollection is that I never used it, and when I looked up the address, there were no transactions. Weren't there special card readers for these? What do you remember?

It indeed used a special card reader. I bought mine from @Vizique if I remember correctly. They should have some more knowledge about this.

This was the handset that they made.
It had an HSM vault backend and when the card was used it would debit your "Account".
It was pretty neat but they folded it sadly. iirc it was somthing like 25BTC for 5 handsets in 2014

I think I still have one of the Handsets for posterity LOL
