Also are some special fake free giveaways on social media and YouTube which scammers will request people to pay like 2 into to pay back in 4 or more. Some even were able to hack celebrity's accounts to create such fake giveaway that many people always fall for.

There are also as many as possible ways to scam using social media, especially on Telegram while other social media are commonly also used by scammers.

Many people have been scammed this way but there are also legit airdrops. Just that airdrop supposed not to require KYC while fake ones are using it to collect people's personal information and using it indirectly to scam them, like sending phishing emails to them.

Some airdrops are completely fake and request for VIP fee or certain amount which if paid, the victim is scammed and will never be given any airdrop coin. People going for airdrops should know these risks. People that know much about the scam involved are using another email for airdrops while vigilant of any mail sent to such email.

Obviously, those who fall prey to airdrop scams are usually newbies. Any veteran caught in this web of deceit should've their head examined. In 2017, airdrop was the frenzy at the time and a lot of us were caught up with it just like faucets too. But looking back now, it's obvious that it was a mere waste of time as what most of those projects did was gather emails and then disappeared into thin air. Even those who eventually airdropped, the tokens didn't worth much; most didn't even list at all. So, I think newbies should completely avoid airdrops, same way they should avoid faucets.

Not really, legit project also do giveaway, and sometimes this may be during a season, like the Thanksgiving, Christmas or at a time when the world is facing a situation, but the difference from the legit and fake giveaways is the hype, and consistency/continuity the fake gives go it, this is because that's all what they are about, that's is that essence of the script, they are alone existing to run scam give aways so you would also see them run that give away, and can even get it shilled, so -Newbies- has to be very sensitive about them.

Also, people need to be aware of just bad financial advisors and companies offering investment opportunities. They might not be scams per se, but their bad advice as well as they being paid by projects to get investments in could cost you money. Sure, the aforementioned scams are the most frequent, these legit investments are also something to look out for.

Op i disagree with a concept that stipulates everything that is free is scam, not all things that is free indulge into scamming class, yes of course we have numerous of scammers from different angles and different social media hangout, they will be a stage you found yourself definitely you will know a scammer irrespective of the new method applied, it's a novice in cryptocurrency sphere can be be easily fall a victims of airdrop scam, because with your intuitive sense, you can as well sense a negativity and positivity of good project.

If I have 3 apples 1$ each if I gave one free and charge 2$ from 2nd person and 3$ from 3rd person and 2nd person feeling like my apple value is 3$ yay isn't it a scam? truth is harsh and not easy to accept but we have to accept it will not last long until legit dealing's were made.
what scammers do they create a coin in 2 hrs create certain million tokens do free giveaway/airdrops etc take as much investment as they want leave it takes max 2 hrs to do it again why? because they know it will end tomorrow why not today?

Every valuable thing given free is a scam because community is investing its not your money but due to greed people ignore it.

Newbies are most exposed to these kind of scams and now its getting trend slowly people are getting rekt with time and most importantly scamming is not good for scammer too, but they dont have ability to see outside their nest.

I disagree with this as many projects do airdrops at early stages, when they don't have any remarkable value. that was the situation for example with Ripple and now it's one of the top cryptos what comes to the market cap.

If any coin get on top that doesn't mean it's not a scam.

There are many scams if you remember bit connect, how big it scams and get on second position investors are shouting it can't scam us?

it's quite possible that they may not die coz they started performing well later but we should not ignore the basic meaning of a scam if we motivate them they will increase with time.

So, Best practice is we should follow projects who focus on every single investor in legit way.

I think this is a huge problem right now, It is very difficult to solve.  Now many types of projects are doing this kind of cheating. For which Bitcointalk does not support Airdrops related project. We need to be careful that they don't cheat anymore.

This issue cannot be solve since as long as there's huge money involve in certain industry for sure we can see a rampant activity like this, especially now we are on digital space where anyone can mask and can be anonymous on any form that's why we need to be aware on certain schemes use by scammers so that we will not get victimized by any attempts they made. Hopefully newbie will realize that its never good to grab the to good to be true offers since this is the most common weapon used by scammers to attract the innocent investors.

I hope that newcomers can read some of the writings that the OP has said, the way fraudsters carry out their actions, from the series above, I conclude that 'nothing is free' is the point.

I think there are many points that can be taken there of course to avoid fraud attacks, especially in the Altcoin or crypto section.

Even though what the OP said, it's relatively common that many people don't care about such things, it looks trivial, but the effect of loss is quite large, so stay alert for any fraudulent actions that harm you.

You cant actually stop that but only prevent it by informing others of potential scams. How can you counter am anonymous people operate on a dark table that no one can even see or locate. These people are ready to do anything by not being caught. I'm sure some of here are doing it but we don't know who and just operating behind the scenes. I'm not pointing out but there is a chance that some or plenty of that doing here without us knowing so we can only advise newbie by reporting this kind of scams on appropriate places.

Yes, on one of the largest exchanges in my country delisted some tokens in its market because it found that the token was used to find new buyers with pyramid schemes. They are proven to sell directly with buyers. Therefore the financial services authority institution in my country filed a delist on that token, This is nothing but to protect consumer losses. But so far, I don't know what the victims are. But it seems that dev has not provided clarification regarding this case. This issue was discussed on my local board.

And we cannot know whether the project is legit or not. Except that the project has already exist and they give or provide some giveaway or free programs to get certain rewards.
I found some platforms or legit projects that also come with this kind of free programs to share and promote their platforms again. But you are true, nothing is free. At least they want you to do something based on T&C.
Once the T&C is suspicious and too good to be true, leave it because it is probably scam, moreover if they ask to deposit at first or send some certain amount of money to certain wallet.

Hype and FOMO.
And sadly, many newbies are trapped on these. let's see how they are working on this kind of scheme and then fall  into the project (fake or hype only projects)

Because In crypto you can lose all by being scammed.I already faced several scams like fake website and fake giveaways.

A great suggestion from you.Even as a bounty hunter I also saw how hackers are trying to steal assets.They try to hack private keys, Recovery Phrase and sometime they launch scam projects and force members to invest there. And sometime beginners start investing without any research.

That's not entirely accurate most (if not all) projects these days do give out freecoins every now and then for marketing purposes,and besides how is it scam if the airdrop is free aka no deposit is required to receive it ?

Free airdrop isn't a scam but something free that's says high return or you will get your ROI in a short amount of time or a too good to be true offer if you invested is obviously a scam. Always think twice if someone offers you a free or an almost free coins do some research first there's nothing wrong with doing some research as long as you are educated since most of these days free coins aren't worthy anymore and you might be holding a tons of shit bag of coins.

See, different people have different dimensions of marketing structure or strategies to market their products, i might give my one (1) apple out for free and have the totality or aggregates of nine (9) left, while if i sum the apples both the one i gave out and the remaining i will realize ten dollars ($10) so for one to be dashed out for free i have to change the price of the apples for $1.2 each while the initial price was $1. in order to recover the one for free, i used this illustration because of your explanation with apple and it seems as ordinary transaction business... But in a situation whereby cryptocurrency is involved which is digital currency selling in such way might be tagged as a scam if your client notice.

Yes it is very important to be careful because scammers are very where so you are have to know people you fellow to avoid been scamed.

Let me correct that for you. Most unlisted ICO, IEO, or whatever the newest project trend is give out free coins in the form of airdrops. You don't see established coins do that. Are there official Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Cardano, Solana giveaways that we should know about?   

Airdrops and giveaways are no longer free. They require you to perform certain social media tasks. They are represented as free but they are more of a bounty.

An airdrop can have a malicious smart contract that steals your valuable tokens from your address. It could be pointing to an address where you are asked to perform a verification, download an app, and similar things. One trick that is being used is that a fake MetaMask pops up asking you to update your MetaMask. If you do, you install malware on your device.

Another way to trick the user is when he attempts to swap the airdropped tokens for some other asset. MetaMask pops up asking to confirm the transaction. What it actually does is it asks your permission to transfer a different valuable asset from your account. If you aren't careful and don't check and verify everything (and many people are too lazy to do that), you might give the required permissions and have your tokens stolen.

Not to mention that people are still falling for the "enter your seed phrase in this form for whatever reason" type of scams. 

Obviously many newbie become the trapes of this kind of scams and loose your money with a mistake. Everywhere you have to see where scammer will contact you I. Personal message like what's app , telegram , in airdrops etc they have confens to you they will double your money but that is totally wrong they just steal your money or nothing

One of the worst things I've ever seen is that people don't care about their financial privacy. I found some people on facebook proud enough to share proof of their profit results in trading and investing. This is the worst choice ever made if you care about financial privacy.

Scammers will know a lot about these people and will launch an attack once all the data is collected. Blackmail and threats are one of the most common for this type of person, and I think it's something to avoid when you own crypto. Silence is much better if it's about how much money you have, your wealth is a private consumption that you shouldn't share on social media.

Everyone knows that Ellon Musk has a lot of money and hold a big amount in Bitcoin. he has stated this himself several times, even the statement that he paid a huge amount of taxes. What do you think, whether he is the target of scammers or blackmail?
or he's just not naive to believe in various free gains from strangers on the internet.

We should always be careful about crypto scams, they are everywhere waiting and looking at who will be their victim next. The word ^[FREE] is usually a common word that people prone to be scammed. It is something like a clickbait or a trap that once a newbie will try because upon reading there is a free, knowing the fact that it is a scam.

The content of the thread will help a lot for those who are new to this industry. They are easy to fool with someone else and I hope that they are here that can be fully oriented and are aware of the possible scams.

Pretty sure that many would attempt to have a contact with him through any means necessary. Imagine if his email address was leaked and thousands of scammers and blackmailers would flood his inbox in a blink of an eye. In fact consider all the richest person following him like Jeff Bezos, though I am not sure if he holds a certain amount of Bitcoin.
I am also sure that these rich dudes don't really browse the internet that much to look for opportunities to earn even if it was legitimate. They'll just spend their time doing their stuffs or scrolling around Twitter.

I remember a few months ago, someone contacted me through Twitter asking for advice (he did not ask for money from me), how to contact Ellon Musk to ask for some donation from him. He needs money to renovate his house in Greece.
I just can imagine what offers and suggestions he ^Musk received every day.

be aware that newbies or beginner in the forum is not a beginner in the brain and in cryptocurrency, because some people here have versatile Bitcoin knowledge compendium before coming to the community, but I think their smarter than a green snake, so therefore it's not a newbies that can be easily scammed, everyone is equal to the task and nobody is above victim of scam, even you can be scam with what you want or in need of.

And please please, if you are new, check the scams and acusitions part of this forum. Members have been collecting data for years, don't let it go to waste. I know there's merit to leqrning on your own mistakes, but not everyrhing has to be tested on your own skin.

I agree. Learning from your mistakes is quite a difficult experience, both psychologically and mentally and physically.
Losing something regularly, many may simply cool off and stop trying. The same thing has already happened to someone, and they have described how to prevent it from happening again.
A proverb states that the wise learn from the mistakes of others, while the foolish learn from their own.
Therefore, do not make yourself think of yourself as a self-confident fool who is confident only in his knowledge and neglects the advice of others.
