Title: ViaBTC down?
Post by: BitMaxz on November 26, 2021, 11:42:03 PM
I tried to access their web page through a browser tried to change DNS use a VPN and tried to use a tool called geopeeker.com but almost all say DNS problem.

I want to make sure that I'm not the only one who experienced some downs in hashrate on the last few days?

I always keep checking the website but I can't still access it.

Try VIABTC.net

I noticed one rig flashing red today and realized it stopped connecting to all three stratum servers. All the other rigs I have all appear connected still (FLASHING GREEN)

I tried to access the .net version and yes I can access it but the problem is ViaBTC doesn't inform their miners about switching to new domain.
I tried to check on twitter but no they don't mention it and also I heard another site from other reddit and telegram support about this domain below

Code:
https://viabtc.top/

Yes, I can access it but the problem is no admin yet or even the support claim that these are their new domains.

Going to stop mining for a while until admin and support claim that .net and .top are their new domains.

The issue is where their DNS servers exist.

If they where inside China (doesn't matter where the pool you mine to is) then the DNS is being manipulated by GFW and/or Aliyun.

This is still going on (I just checked it again now)

... and moving DNS outside China is not a 5 minute exercise.

Check your email account that you are registered to viabtc with, they sent emails about about it 22 hours ago.

As DaveF said in the other thread, they had some missing or badly setup DKIM and SPF settings which, for some mail servers, would have meant their email would have just been bounced. (depending on the strictness of the antispam rules on the server)

Gmail seemed to let it through though.

There is a new datasecurity law in china.
https://www.chinalawtranslate.com/en/datasecuritylaw/
maybe this is a sideafect of that law, the ais system (for ship tracking) got similar problems, if viewed from outside china.

I tried reading a few responses from telegram tried both .top and .net but it doesn't resolve anything.
Well, I end up switching to another pool temporarily until the issue resolve.

my email with them is a gmail address - still never got anything from them.

Same here I check my email but almost all emails that I received from ViaBTC are withdrawal notifications not related to their new domain.

As someone who never pointed any of his previous rigs to their pool [AFAICR], I did receive their announcement on my Gmail address two days ago [screenshot (https://i.imgur.com/78s8t75.jpg) - it has less content in comparison to what someone else reported on the other thread].

  • Since that was a bit strange, I did some digging and it seems that both of you probably have turned off the following setting: Notification Setting (https://i.imgur.com/VwX4u8W.jpg) [announcement part]

My notifications are on - I get several a day for payouts of various coins as they hit the auto payout threshold daily.

Same here I got my settings set the same as on that image the only one that is turned off is the mining profits daily report notification and nothing else.

I also tried to use the title of what you received from Viabtc to search it again on my email but no result.
I guess they hate me because I'm just small compared to those who give huge shares on their pool?
