Title: All DEX wallet User Please Beware
Post by: Tarek0 on November 29, 2021, 05:22:35 AM
Hello Everybody I joined with Cryptocurrency from last one Year, and i use Binance and Crypto Currency exchange for Trading and from my Trading profit i store some Crypto assets in my Trust wallet for Futute.
When First time i Create a Trust Wallet account thet i Write My Mnemonics Key on Notebook becouse it is Mandatory for wallet Importing. But 25 November i Reset my Device for Some Reason and i Restart my phone and Reinstall my all Account, Application etc. But when i Install Trust Wallet and Imported my Mnemonics Key then i see that My Wallet address has Changed and Fund has Zero. But i can't understand where was my Mistake. For my mistake You can Learn something new and you can Protect and Save your Fund from Losing. So i want to share a tips with you.

1. When You Create a DEX wallet than Must Copy your Mnemonics Word or Private key and Save it in any Online Store, you can take a Screenshot but Screenshot is not working in Trust Wallet so you can Capture your Mnemonics word through Other Mobile and next you can write your key In offline Notebook.
2. If You think that Need a resetting for your Device than you must import your Trust wallet in Second device. Otherwise you can lost your fund as like for me.

I lost my Fund and know this pain, so i share my Experience for Secure and Saving your Fund and i believe if you follow this Two Tips then you never lost your assets.

Are you sure that you entered the right Mnemonics Key can you edit your post I have a hard time understanding your issue and your recommendation, there's this
Quote
Must Copy your Mnemonics Word or Private key and Save it in any Online Store
what online store is this and why would you save it in an online store is it cloud storage.

The wallet address is always attached to the Mnemonics Key, there's no way it's going to change, could be that you create two Trustwallet and you insert the wrong Mnemonics Key where you have funds, double-check your entry.

some questions....
have you verified if you have used some special characters?
are you sure that you have copied exactly same words/letters/ in the same order? or if you are using a different "layout" of your keyboard?  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout

are you sure you have used not a scam/fake service? can you link this wallet that you have used?

wait what happen did your money lost because there's someone steal your account or you put the wrong mnemonic, or you just approve some dusting token  and your money was gone
its better safe write your mnemonic on paper and save it on safe deposit box  ;D or just buy some hardware wallet so keep your cold wallet freeze

Sorry for your lose, but if you use the old mnemonic your balance should stay there and the address will stay the old one, maybe you missed something so you can't see your balance or you lost it.

This is also not good advice, anything you store online will be very likely to be hacked, it would be better to re-write it and save it on offline storage.

Quite confuse with the case you stated OP. From my understanding you forget the correct mnemonic phrase cause you can't see your balance. Or yet you uploaded a different mnemonic phrase that's why it isn't reflecting on your balance. That's the logical reason for it cause if someone access your wallet you already knew if your balance has been compromised or not.

Hi OP, I think you can read this article, I don't know if you correctly did a 12 word recovery or 24 keyword phrase, but if you make a little mistake, then your wallet address will definitely change, please read the details here

Mnemonic was a key that contains bunch of address, privatekey was a key to open your related address that used to store your fund. The problem is you didn't aware about this and when you're entering your mnemonic to the app. The app can randomly add address based on what address that already contained in your mnenomic. If you wanna try to open all of your address to search your fund and then you must try to use mycrypto. If you're using ethereum blockchain and you can easily track your address through use MEW or mycrypto application but if you're using BSC and i never heard if there was an application like mycrypto and MEW that will help you to open all of your addresses in your mnemonic address. I think that you can use this to open in MEW and that will help you to check whether your address that contains your funds was there or not.

I would guess that you have put in the wrong mnemonics key and therefore a wrong wallet was created. Have you double checked every word and letter of the key? Maybe you have a typo in a world or maybe you one letter wrong but the word still makes sense like for example you are missing an "s" in "places", "place" still makes sense and is an existing word so you have a lot of possibilities where something can be wrong. I would check that again if i were you.
I always print out the private keys, or mnemonic phrases of wallets and put it into a drawer. I know that there are people that even put them into safes and stuff like that in case the house burns down or burglars are coming into your house but my holdings are not worth that much.

Sorry about the loss of your fund but it seems to me that you did not back up your wallet correctly and that's the reason you lost access to your account. You also need to know that it is not safe to store your pneumonic phrase online because it may be exposed to hackers. As you rightly said always import your wallet into another device before resetting your device.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I've had a similar issue when I imported my wallet to trade in a decentralized exchange and lost about one ethereum few years back. I really can't remember the name of the DEX but at that time we had few DEX where ethereum tokens could be traded.

Wait, if you are sure you write the right Mnemonics Key, your wallet should restore to there. But wait, what are your coins? Perhaps, you should remember one by one for your coins list, so you can add them back to your wallet because I think your coins are not on the default coins lists in your Trust wallet. You can read the guide here https://www.followchain.org/add-token-trust-wallet/. I hope that helps you to restore your coins.

I have never had any problems reinstalling wallets. I know that even if you lose your phone or you lose your cold wallet, you still can recover you funds if you remember you seed phrase. I always store all my passwords on a paper as online storages can be hacked, so I think that if my private key is on paper it is in safety. You need just be careful when you put down your seed phrase.

I always write down words on paper and save them to a USB stick. You have to be very careful and check the correctness of letters and word order several times. In the end, these are your assets.

I didn't understand what you are saying because if you put your mnemonics wrong then it won't open any wallets at all. But you have said it opens up a wallet with zero funds. I n my opinion 3 possible reasons behind it.

1. You have imported the right wallet but your funds were stored in a different wallet. Because Trust wallet has the option to create or import multiple wallets.
2. You have imported the wrong wallet.
3. Someone transferred your funds who got access to your mnemonics. You can check that wallet's transaction history to verify that.

I know the issue of not been able to use screenshot with trust but I think there's no connection between your funds being lost and it. Your funds will never be confiscated by a wallet unless you do a transaction. Or maybe your tokens aren't showing because you didn't custom add tokens. Another thing is that maybe it is a bug that happened. It happens to some multi-wallet app but rest assured that its there. No one can take it away from you.

I'm also at lost here, the OP said he wrote down the mnemonics and when he try to reinstall and used the mnemonics then all of his coins are gone? So it's either someone got a hold of his mnemonics and stole everything or simply it was the wrong mnemonic phrase (but I doubt that this is the case). So the former is most likely the cause of his wallet getting 0, someone stole it from him.

Why save it on any online store? I don't get the idea of saving it to any online material. You shouldn't save it with any of those and if you're a fan of lazy keeping such as screenshotting it, you still need to have a back up in written form.
A dex user or not, the principle is how to be a good keeper of your seeds whenever you're going to make a new wallet and use it for storage of long keeping.

I am a trust wallet user. I often import my different wallets here and delete the wallet again after work.  My wallet has never changed. I don't understand why yours. I think your seed phrase is wrong somewhere.

If address has change it means different mnemonic is saved. Or maybe someone change your "online store" file with another wallet. Because it is right, if there are wrong word when we want to import, we can't import the wallet in trustwallet. Or maybe, check the address in explorer first. Second, from my personal opinion, saving something important in online drive is risky too, hacker will have thousand ways to access our email and can see all our files if they can bypass it. My gmail with 2fa sms verification accessed by someone and my notepad files in google drive exposed, i lose a lot of money because i save my exchange 2fa back up in there.
