Title: Bitcointalk on mobile phones: A sight for sore eyes
Post by: SatoPrincess on December 05, 2021, 02:30:40 AM
I use a mobile phone to access the forum because it is handy. And it is killing me I have to zoom in everytime to read the words and view pages. One can only enjoy browsing the forum on Pc, using a mobile phone to access the forum for the first you get the impression that Bitcointalk is ancient technology.
It's 2021 when are we going to have a mobile version(app) of Bitcointalk?

I wonder, why your impression as complaining? Didn't you tell yourself that it's very practical when accessing forums using a mobile phone?
if only for that, why not try accessing using a PC? so you don't have to bother enlarging each letter when you want to access it.
As for the application (mobile) version of the bitcointalk, is this purpose just to make it easier to access the forum or as a whole with the aim of expanding the connection of the bitcointalk forum?
I think the keyword Bitcoin is familiar in the internet world, anyone can easily find out the existence of the bitcointalk forum after knowing what bitcoin is.

I don't find it annoying. It is true that it does not look like with a mobile adapted version but I have no problems. Maybe it's just that I don't consult it so often from my mobile.

Regarding when the mobile version will be available I have no idea, but if you see that the new forum software has been in project for many years, I would not expect the mobile version of the forum to be available any time soon.

  • In Hidden pages/ features on the forum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5243405.0) you can find links for mobile mode
    • Adding either ;wap ;wap2 ;imode at the end of URL link
    • https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5375445.0;wap
    • https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5375445.0;wap2
    • https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5375445.0;imode
  • There are many questions about it already. You can stay tuned for Epoch talk software.
  • For me, there are some reasons I don't need app
    • It is fine to read on mobile even with this current web version and I don't have need for mobile app.
    • Additionally, it is not good to install too any apps on my phone.
    • Lastly but most importantly, it is never convenient to type text on mobile. App can not fix this inconvenient issue.

I don't know about others, but the mobile phone version of bitcointalk which i use most times, makes it easy for me to carry the forum with me wherever i am going. Although it doesn't have a flashy and very attractive interface like OP insinuates, I, just like others who have been here a bit have grown to become conversant with it that zooming in and out is no longer a problem to us. With time OP, i believe you will become used to it as well.

I've been on Bitcointalk a few years, haven't seen any member complain about the 'post' maybe about the black color feature exists, for now for me it is quite comfortable to read and see through a cellphone or laptop, this must be questioned again, how old are you, so you are very disturbed by the writing here.

Maybe you shouldn't open your glasses like this to look at your phone.

Wear glasses if it interferes with your vision or eat a lot of raw carrots, it's good for long-distance eye health.

Maybe you need a reading glass. I'm using phone on my everyday forum activity and there's nothing more convenient to use it on mobile rather than on pc. Why? I'm a travel person and usually outside, I even do posting while on swimming pool, hence can't do by pc users. It's fine zooming in a bit cause its way more convenient than bring a pc time to time. I also used desktop but only frequently, I even do posting and reading while I'm lying down on bed which is very relaxing.

What mobile browser are you using? Imo reading is pretty fine. If you're using a decent browser everything should fit into your screen. Now — when making a reply with multiple quotes and multiple BBCode tags though, that's a different topic; I've always ending up feeling like throwing my phone out the window.

Even me, i normally use both, phone and laptop before, but since my system got diminished or spoilt i have been using phone to operate in bitcointalk forum website, and i have not noticed any challenges with phone, i might suggest that op phone operating system might be faulty, because phone is even easier for forum activities indecencies that everywhere you are you can as well make use of your phone as you said, except  it's a situation the work you want to do in forum required some digital images, you can use system to go about it.

I also use my phone to open forums. but I never use it to make posts. of course, it is very difficult for those who have limited communication with a 2nd language
I open a forum with my phone when I just get a message notification. just to keep up with updates. while the discussion activities, I still do with a PC. and it became very convenient for me.

I don't mind the display on the phone. as long as we still have good eye health, I think the writing looks small is not a problem.

I do not even know I am zooming anymore, I am so used to it. I started on this forum with a mobile phone, I later bought a laptop all because I want to use a laptop to access the forum. Maybe this is weird, but all I noticed was that I get back to using Duckduckgo on mobile phone to continuing accessing this forum.

It is not bad at all if this forum can be accessed with a mobile app and also with new forum software while this old one should not be disabled because I like it because it makes long posts shorter for me and having it easy to read.

All these are not advisable in my opinion. The reason is because if you check your above link which is hidden under words, the three mobile options did not include the link, all were in plain words. This will be a means someone can mistakenly skip many such hidden links and missing vital information. Also that the other links are not well displayed.[/list]

FWP much? You can get a much larger screen for much less money, and yet you choose the inconvenient option.
Rotate your phone or get a bigger screen.

Although it doesn't have a flashy and very attractive interface
You mean like the money-grabbing ICO websites, that all look exactly the same with flashy moving things that animate into place when you scroll down? Let's not go there! I wouldn't want a book to be flashy, why would you want that on a screen?

Same here with me that i am used to access the forum over my mobile phone from years although i have signed it on laptop also but you see i still prefer to use it on my mobile because it's handy and saves my time.At first i also have some problems zooming in and out but then i become used to the same and therefore no problem and for the safety purpose I have customized zero eyesight glasses that i always put on before writing up or while using the forum and hands are now set and i can zoom in and out at comfortable speed.

The maximum screen size you may get is between 6.0-6.7 inches on which you will always find hard to read extensively. So if there is a bitcointalk app, it won't change that stats.

It's best that you use the desktop or PC to use the forum as I never feel easy to read the forum-based sites on my mobile screen. If you want to spend hours reading bitcointalk or other sites, better use a PC or laptop.

I don't recommend those hidden pages. It is given because of OP question.

Personally, I don't need a mobile application for a text-based forum, to be honest. It will be another burden for my device. In addition, typing text on mobile is painful and if I only in read-only mode on mobile, an application is unnecessary for me.

How often do we see such complaints about the forum interface? And how regularly do we see that the majority of users do not suffer inconvenience? What conclusions can we draw for ourselves? If you do not like to watch from a mobile phone, you need to set yourself a goal to buy a tablet, laptop, or anything that has a higher resolution. Try to adapt, do not think that your complaints will be followed by an instant solution. If nothing has been done before this time, then there is a choice, either to spit and not watch the forum, or to adapt to the conditions, and it is best to buy a good device.

How often do we see such complaints about the forum interface?

From time to time, and mostly from new members who obviously spend most of their online time on smartphones. This is not strange for me personally, because people have simply become obsessed with constantly staring at these small devices, even in some situations when it is completely inappropriate or even life-threatening.

A simple search gives the following results :
