Title: Freewallet.org - SCAMMERS CONFIRMED -Problem solved.
Post by: Yeom on December 08, 2021, 07:21:18 AM

First,  image file evidence https://imgur.com/a/lzwDQkW
https://imgur.com/a/0PUDhig

70 million won in Korean money.
It's $59,473 in US dollars.
The market price fell a lot, so I suffered a huge loss.

situation:
On December 3, I moved my funds to Free Wallet through the Korea Cryptocurrency Exchange.(I had purchased Bitcoin.)
They put restrictions on withdrawing my funds for no reason.
For ridiculous reasons, we requested suspension of account and KYC certification procedures.
I was really angry, but I accepted everything.
English documents and passport authentication, photo authentication, hash details of resident registration copy.
Everyone responded by paying with my money.
However, they always give the same answer every time and do not handle their work. They say thank you for waiting patiently, but it's hilarious.
It's all the cost of documents, and I'm spending my time and I'm under too much mental stress.

First they will ask you for a selfie.

Then they will send something like this:

To proceed with the verification procedure, the security department requests the following information:

1) Screenshots of your incoming transactions where we can see the hash, amount and the name of the sending service (another wallet, exchange and so on);
2) Photo of your identification document of the owner of the account: an international ID or a driver’s license (a photo of both sides).
3) Bank statement or utility bill where we can see your name and resident address. Information should be in English;
4) A photo of the owner of the account in front of the image “Attention” (attached below) on your computer monitor (if you use a web version of Freewallet) or near your mobile device with the app open so that we were able to see your user ID.

Once we receive all the required information, we will forward it to our security department for verification.

We truly appreciate your collaboration. If you have any questions regarding the required information, you can read more about the procedure here.

Then they will send something like this:
Please send us original photos of your ID and photos of yourself with your account settings section and the image "Attention" (attached below). Please note that screenshots of these photos are not accepted

I received an answer by e-mail on December 6th.
Thank you for completing all authentication procedures.
The security expert said he would review it himself.
It may take time, so I asked you to refer to it.
It's enough time to review the documents, but they still ignore them without answering.
I think he's trying to steal $60,000.
Bitcoin's market price is falling.
I asked if you would be responsible for the money.
He doesn't answer at all.
Looking at what they do, companies do not have an attitude to respond to customers.
They joke and play tricks on customers.

Passport authentication, photo authentication, resident registration copy, resident registration copy, and details of the Korea Cryptocurrency Exchange.
Photos and videos sent all the details they wanted.

Today alone, I sent one email in the morning and one in the afternoon, but they try to steal money without answering implicitly. They do racism.

Fraud amount: Bitcoin worth $60,000.
Payment method: bitcoin

hahaha lol new reply:https://imgur.com/a/Xqr4Znr

12-09 Problem solved.
However, he lost KRW 13 million in Krw because of the free wallet. US$1300 they don't feel sorry and don't even make adequate compensation.
I will solve this part to the end through my personal lawyer.

It was reviewed for three days. But I asked what else your company was reviewing.(This is what I've already told you in the mail.)
Are you going to compensate me for the loss?

On December 3, I moved my funds to Free Wallet through the Korea Cryptocurrency Exchange.(I had purchased Bitcoin.)

Why did you use freewallet? Are you trying to convert the bitcoins back to fiat (dollars/won/etc) ?

1) Screenshots of your incoming transactions where we can see the hash, amount and the name of the sending service (another wallet, exchange and so on);
2) Photo of your identification document of the owner of the account: an international ID or a driver’s license (a photo of both sides).
3) Bank statement or utility bill where we can see your name and resident address. Information should be in English;
4) A photo of the owner of the account in front of the image “Attention” (attached below) on your computer monitor (if you use a web version of Freewallet) or near your mobile device with the app open so that we were able to see your user ID.

Ridiculous demands. A screenshot of a TX? A photo of a computer monitor?

This seems basically designed to frustrate legitimate customers for no good reason because the bad guys (whoever it is that freewallet pretends to confront with this KYC nonsense) would still be able to fake all that if they wanted to.

Don't get your hopes up, freewallet has kept user's funds hostage with the excuse of "reviewing" their KYC info for years.
And i mean this in both applicable interpretations: they've been doing this for years, and there are users that are stuck in the same KYC verification process for years.

Just one example:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5330596.msg58074937#msg58074937

The only advice i can give you: search a good lawyer... in hindsight you should have read the reviews about this exchange disguised as a wallet, but i'm afraid it's a bit to late for that, and you're a victim and there's no need for victim-blaming...

freeCUSTODIALwallet.org should be the name.

There's nothing you can do but wait and submit whatever additional information they will ask of you. I sympathize with your loss and stress but you should also take responsibility. It's your fault for entrusting your funds to a custodial wallet out of the many non-custodial online and offline wallets available. Their reputation in this forum is already tainted and you would have known that if you came here sooner or if you have investigated first before downloading their wallet.

It's not just one, they have 24 wallets listed in the google play store.  I'm sure the point is to maximize their exposure in search results when people search for wallets for various crypto currencies.

Does anyone know how to report an app as a scam on google play?  I only found a way to report reviews, not a way to report the app as a scam.

They're not gonna do anything unless it threatens their revenue, so perhaps reporting to the FTC or some other alphabet (no pun intended) agency would be more efficient.

They cheat regardless of the amount.
They have already left an evaluation on their reliability and I don't know how such a wallet exists.

These guys are one of the biggest red flag, crypto ‘companies’ I’ve encountered in my 8 years in this industry.
How are the people behind it not in jail?

This seems to be what most shitty exchanges do - drag you along forever in the hopes you will give up due to lack of funds to fight them via a lawyer etc, assuming that's even possible. ???

Good luck, I hope you get your funds back, but damn, crazy stuff indeed!  ???

Those reviews tho... LOL... totally fake for sure! :D

Thanks for the link.  I reckon you're right about it being a waste of time.  Google isn't going to put any time into validating the scam concerns.  Maybe if they were sued by someone who lost money to these shitbirds they would do something.  It would be difficult (or nearly impossible) to prove Google's culpability, and I'm sure their lawyers have already addressed all that in the play store TOS.  But it would be a way to draw attention to the lack of responsibility on their part, and maybe convince people to be more diligent when downloading financial apps.

Edit: buying fake reviews... very naughty. Sort by "newest" and scroll to the beginning of August 2021 for example:

Lol, that's pretty blatant.

Hi OP good that you got your funds back
sorry but i dont understand how can freewallet control your funds ? it means you didnt get your secret key to the wallet or freewallet is not a real wallet
instead you sent your funds to a bitcoin address belongs to freewallet where wenever you need your funds you should ask them and get persmission
why do you do that ? why do you leave real bitcoin wallets where you have control and send someone your coins to hold them for you ???
i hope you can learn from this issue and next time use a bitcoin wallet a real one where you get your secret key once you get the secret key you can import your bitcoin to any other wallet without begging for it

why do you do that ? why do you leave real bitcoin wallets where you have control and send someone your coins to hold them for you ???
i hope you can learn from this issue and next time use a bitcoin wallet a real one where you get your secret key once you get the secret key you can import your bitcoin to any other wallet without begging for it

I'm not the OP, however, i've read dozens (literally dozens) of these threads and i can give you a general answer to these questions (might or might not be applicable to OP's case)

  • Freewallet is NOT a wallet, they are a (covert) custodial KYC exchange that calls themselfs a wallet to attract victims customers .
    • With "covert" i mean that they hide the fact they trigger a very extensive, over the top, KYC procedure somewhere in their TOS. They randomly trigger such a procedure while locking (in reality often stealing) the user's funds whilst refusing to tell anybody what triggered their KYC check, so they think they can do this with impunity (because they say they have good reason to lock user's funds, but they refuse to disclose those reasons)
    • with custodial, i mean CUSTODIAL... Not your keys, not your coins.... which is fitting in this case... The user does not have access to his/her funds when he/she uses this wallet!
    • with exchange, i mean litterally "exchange". One of their primary functions seems to be exchanging coins to other coins... which shouldn't be a primary function for a "free" "wallet"
  • Why did the OP use "free" 'wallet".... I don't know about op's case, but freewallet goes trough great length to push their wallet... They are being accused of buying fake reviews, they put great effort in their search engine listing, they are active on forums and social media,... All in all, i think it's very easy for novice users to fall into their trap... If you read positive blogposts about this wallet (written or sponsored by f(r)eewallet), followed by a high SE ranking , followed by loads of 5 star (fake) reviews in the app store, it becomes very tempting to install this wallet

Now, i'm not the boss of anybody, i have no authority.... But i can give advice to the OP and anybody else in their position: Once you get your funds back, i'd advice to switch to a non-custodial wallet ASAP... I know freewallet says that at this point you are verified and they will not lock your account (again), i'd personally run (and run fast) towards a wallet that actually lets you (and you alone) hold your private key(s) or recovery seed....
Don't trust closed source wallets (unless very trusted by the community), don't trust online wallet, especially don't trust exchanges... Switch to a decent wallet... If you hold limited funds, a desktop wallet might do. If you hold a lot of funds, think about a better wallet altogether (do your own homework, but an airgapped wallet, a decent paper wallet or a decent hardware wallet are usually reasonable choices for keeping larger amounts).
