Simply put, Dapp blockchain (ETH et al.) isn't a storage for large data. The cost will be too high for storing that amount of data. Therefore, the method will be freezing metadata while using another decentralized storage like IPFS. Not sure if there's blockchain that capable of storing large data and has smart contract capability, or if it's possible without reworking the protocol from scratch. People like to fork, not develop from scratch.
