Title: When to Quit?
Post by: Davidvictorson on December 11, 2021, 12:29:58 PM
How many times do you attempt to do something and fail before you quit? Is there a scientific "number of trials" on should make towards an ideal before quitting? This question have been running through my mind lately and I am just curious to know what you think?

That's a pretty vague question and I guess the answer would be to weigh the potential to continue learning and developing versus the costs, dangers, and myopia which can come with stubborn perseverance. If it's something that is really costly (say for instance, you are wanting to become a professional poker player, but you aren't very good at poker) then it's probably not going to take very many nights of going broke before you're ready to give it up. If it's something that isn't costly or dangerous to you (maybe you're trying to learn a new computer language and write a program) then why not just try.. and try.. and keep trying. I don't think anyone can give a specific number here because there's a lot to consider. What is it you are thinking about quitting exactly? If it's crypto and you're losing lots of money or something, then you need to really consider how those costs are effecting your livelihood, family..etc.

Depends what the goal is doesn't it. If you have a goal & it’s something you desperately want to achieve, something really important to you then you keep going until you achieve it. If it’s something physically impossible then don’t even attempt it. A realistic goal though, keep going, you can do it.

Failure does sometimes always come close, but the struggle continues, an effort or hard work will be paid in time.
