I have recently purchased collectible coins from this company. I am in no way affiliated with them. I am not an affiliate seller and receive no compensation for this post. My chips have been purchased through the website only.  I wanted to post pictures and details about their chips for reference and/or future information.

Krypto Keepsafes is a new company out of Australia in 2021. These chips are created and manufactured by Daniel Hockin, user @Keepsafes (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3422108) here on the fourm. They have released a new product of loadable crypto collectibles for sale on their website. They have multiple physical items for sale and several NFTs. Currently they offer one Bitcoin themed chip and four Ethereum themed chips. Currently there are two "series", Casino and Gold, as well as NFT's available. The Gold series and future alt coin series have been mentioned, but not yet publicly released.

Any new company that claims to provide safe and secure storage for your cryptocurrency should immediately raise concerns for the astute collector and holder. There are numerous examples (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3315347.msg34617121#msg34617121) of companies and makers that were initially thought to be safe, but that ultimately resulted in compromised keys. Some due to negligence, others ignorance, and still others greed and malice. The statement "not your keys, not your coins" certainly applies to these producers and any new company should be held accountable.

To date I have no reason to believe that this company is in any way creating fake, compromised, or faulty loadable collectible chips, however I personally will not use these for safe keeping or cold storage of my BTC or ETH. Krypto Keepsafes does disclose some production process on the website under "Security Protocols" (https://kryptokeepsafes.com/security-protocols/). Prior example of complete protocols = statement of controls (https://www.casascius.com/controls.aspx). Loading of ANY (not just Krypto Keepsafes) pre-generated collectibles should be loaded with EXTREME CAUTION.

Public Test
I have loaded a non-denomination BTC casino chip with 0.0001BTC ~ $5.00 currently, from my forum address.  
This is meant to provide some public exposure for the security of these chips. While this is by no means definitive regarding security, it will demonstrate any unexpected BTC movement.

thanks for the share - I also ordered one of each of their chips - mine have been stuck in shipping for a while - but glad to see that some people are getting them - you are the 2nd or 3rd I have seen post pictures.

Awesome write up and well said. I absolutely wouldn’t trust these one bit myself. I may buy one or two just for the collectibility factor, but we’ve seen enough scams now to know if we don’t know who made them, their rough location , and how the keys were made..can’t be trusted.

Did a little research on these guys months back. No info on team, how keys are made, I believe all their website data is anonymous, and their place of business (address) seems to be fake, as well as their followers on instagram, clearly mostly bought fake account followers (11k followers in a matter of days, not a chance. Looking at the profiles that follow them it’s very easy to tell).  This is shady stuff imo.

Maybe they’ll come here and prove differently ?

I am a registered Australian company operating out of Melbourne Australia.  The prodcut is a registered trademark mark and the company complies with all Australia's safe business practice acts and regulations.

The prodcut is in no shape, way or form misleading, false or otherwise. Company address details and all correct, our security protocols and company policy are all mentioned on the website. A Do it yourself version has also been created for those are not comfortable with being supplied their keys.

I am merely a fellow physical bitcoin collector, who appreciates digital currencies and sees a real need for a physical medium to keep continuing crypto adoption, by introducing no-coiners friends, and family to cryptocurrency.

Hi Daniel. Welcome to the forum! This is a great place for bitcoin collectibles and bitcoin knowledge in general. I hope you become active here.

Please do not be offended by my post, it truly is meant to be informative, so I am very glad you are here to contribute. I did not mean in anyway to suggest that you have produced a fraudulent or misleading product. I am simply trying to inform newer collectors and people interested in our hobby that collectibles that come with private keys generated by others have inherent risk.  There are few makers that have stood the test of time and have demonstrated that they are safe, but even after a long time there is still risk.

I am glad you also offer a DIY version. Your chips are well made, I like the ones I have received already, and I am looking forward to the "Gold Series". Maybe you can give us updates or teasers here!

I appreciate you coming here and addressing these concerns. It doesn’t seem like you took them personally which I appreciate. If you look at the pinned topics on this board you’ll see myself and Krogo have compiled a whole long list of scam physical cryptocurrency coins. So naturally, I’m very weary of any seller especially someone who know one knows anything about. You’ve helped answer some of those concerns so I appreciate that.

I was not offended at all  I thought your post was a very good honest unbiased reveiw with the information given. I also would be very cautious when using any crypto product whether it be cold.wallets or exchanges alike. It was a reply after claiming accounts and addresses were faked that was annoying, as those comments are not true. The product is and serves as it is exactly described.

When I was scrolling through one of the pages, the durability part that said "highly resistant to any fire (https://archive.fo/6R8Lg#selection-1365.10-1369.59)" caught my attention, and I'm curious to know what's the fire class rating for these beautiful chips?

A customized version would be nice ;)

Not saying to hit it with a blowtorch and expect to still have a Keepsafes after a minute. But verses other mediums such as a paper wallet or an electronic ledger in an event of a house fire due to the clay composite your Keepsafes is more likely to survive than the others. Same.goes with being submersed in water. I strongly advise against burning your house down to test it 😅

There is.also a Do it yourself, for all variants, should you wish to use your own Keys.

As a collector i view physical bitcoin in 2 ways. Mass produced cold storage wallets like ballet that are meant to be used. Or art peices like kialara that are meant to be collected, and the crypto is locked forever unless your broke and absolutely need the btc. Which are you going for? If its the latter i hope you keep the design special and the rarity low. If you do that then you will see your coins appreciate in value. If your going for quantity and usability i wish you the best of luck but their not for me.

I bought 2 casino sets from your website on Dec 17th..... without the 25% discount and without any freebies...

Why was I given shipping and tracking information but when I check the status it still says pending? Has it even been dropped off at the post office at this point? I'm not sure how AUS does things but you would think they would have received it 10 days after confirmed shipping was sent to me via email.

 

Australia post is so backlogged with post at the moment that it is taking upto 2 weeks for them to even process after it is dropped off. Sorry it is ridiculously slow, but there are next to zero planes coming or going to the country at present with australia excepting noone from overseas (unless youre a celebrity.)

Do they come with nfts now?

Did you buy the built ones or the DIY?  I like the new line of alts. I already have the first edition factory built. I like the chips they are nice. I haven't funded them yet.. Definitely nice chips.

I bought the built ones (I wouldnt load any funds to them though) I actually have not seen where the DIY were being sold on their site.

Mopar - the DIY version is available to select on a dropdown menu by "version" on each token's purchase page, just above the price and add to cart button. There are "Keys Included" and "Do It Yourself" as options for the BTC and ETH chips. Hope that helps.

ahh yea when I looked I saw them but they were not available for sale - at least not that I could see, they were flagged like out of stock or something similar. fwiw now, if I wanted to fund them, I would most likely peel them and add my own keys now anyways.

The DIY were not available at first until the official launch. Both versions are now available with 38 full sets of the 100 Gold series remaining. NFTs have now also been minted .

DOT gold series Keepsafes have been been discontinued as address format needs to be change to be accessible from exchnages. They will be released again at a later date.

Has there been any pub key lists shared?  

I’ve noticed they took down their instagram page, curious as to why. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that they paid for followers (this is a massive red flag business practice for anyone who doesn’t already know that. I personally would never trust any company who does this).

The website privacy policy states they will collect and store your data on third party servers (IP/method used to visit site/name/email/Date of birth/phone #). They state it’s permanently stored until they deem it not necessary to keep any longer.  So if whomever they use to store their data is hacked, you likely become a target for crypto hacks (sim swapping comes to mind here). “ Please be aware that we may combine information we collect about you with general information or research data we receive from other trusted sources.”- https://kryptokeepsafes.com/privacy-policy/ …why?!

They state that while they don’t filter feedback/comments up front, but they reserve the right to edit feedback they deem “inappropriate”. This is another shady business practice. You should allow for all feedback and have the ability to make comments below them for rebuttal. This provides transparency.

Public keys are only available via entering the code on the back of the coin in to their website.  Relying on websites for anything related to coins has proven time and time again to be a bad idea. So if you fund a coin, lose the public key or forget to ever look it up, and their website shuts down, you can’t check the balance or sell the coin as now you have no way of knowing what’s stored on it without redeeming. 

They apparently offer a referral program but force you to sign up before being able to see how it works. Why not show the details up front to allow people to decide whether they see it as worth doing or not?

Lots of questionable stuff here IMO.

No response was given via DM or any other method.  I thought it was kinda shady they posted they were having a sale shortly after ignoring my question.

Just to balance it a bit. They have been very friendly when I bought. Given free extras, give NFT and given tips for other collectibles. As I see it the packing and chips very well made. Will I load them? Probably not. But I like them.

Same for me. I bought the BTC chips and they are very well done & extremely affordable. Glad to have them, but I will not load them.

Oh I got all the ones I ordered as well - the packages were crushed but I removed them from them anyways and put them in airtites - but my question is more about the statement about replacing the polkadot ones with the updated and valid ones as the ones sent have invalid addresses.

Actually the addresses are valid. Just other format than normaly used by exchanges etc. Think I was the first to point it out. I tried to fund one from exchange and got invalid address. Asked about it and learned you could fund them from a wallet you own yourself if you wanted.

But agree he talked about replacement.

well to me, if you cannot send to it, then it is not a valid format. and yes, I believe you were the first to point it out.

Hard to blame Keepsafes for our knowledge about polkadot. But in retrospect he should have selected other format. And that is probably why he wanted to replace. We are a tough crowd to please so he probably gave up on us ;D
If you write him on twitter he reply very fast.

The chips use substrate address and can't be funded from binance and similiar exchange.

Figured I'd bump this thread so others can have some insight. Placed an order with them over a month ago at this point. Haven't received any shipping info or updates, they also haven't responded to either of the emails I sent over a week apart. Not sure if they just abandoned their site or if they're really just that slow. But I'd be hesitant to put in an order now a days. Even if they do get it shipped, it doesn't really seem like custom service is up to snuff. I'll give them another week and if I still don't hear or see anything I'm just going to initiate a charge back and call it a day.

Will post an update once I hear something or cancel the order.

Welp, went ahead and initiated a chargeback. After waiting about 5 weeks with 3 ignored emails and an ignored phone call I think it's safe to say my items aren't going to make it past the "processing" side of things on their end. Hopefully the refund goes smoothly from here.

Buyer Beware! I guess is about the most I can say about them at this point.

These were shady from the get go.  There was like 20k thousand something followers that they had paid for after their account had been open for like 2 weeks.  If you've been on Instagram long enough it's very easy to tell when someone's bought followers (which are mostly just fake accounts).  This is a big red flag.  They did/do remind me very much of Cold Storage Coins, and I would not be shocked if that's just yet another outshoot LLC of theirs.  Maybe it's wrong of me to speculate out loud like this, but whatever...I'm normally not wrong about these things and they're not fulfilling orders now, apparently.

I was able to locate the public address to the coins, I have never tried to load any of them though, as I was a bit unsure of the company (I have no reason to not trust them).

If anyone who tried to order is interested, I would sell a couple if someone was trying to complete a collection of all types.

Also, I gave a few away, hence why I only have 8. :)  Again, I am not defending their actions, but rather at one time they seemed to have a fair valued chip, as I was able to pick up unloaded chips for less than $10 a piece.

I also got mine with no issues - seems at some point they just stopped shipping though.

Things have been silient for quite a while. There hasn't been any new releases for 2023. It is likely the company will disappear soon.

Too bad, 'cuz I've bought every single chip released by them (except the Stellar version). Has anyone managed to get in touch with Mr. Hockin? :(

Wrote a few messages with him when they had a Twitter account. In my eyes they where friendly and tried to make good service.
They also made some NFTs.
The feedback for them was probably not what they expected and they lost faith.

Did they ever make things right with that polka coin or whatever that they owed people, anyone know?  

I never got a replacement polkadot one. They were supposed to replace them. I am going to verify that but I am pretty sure I had only the first one ever sent.

They never replaced the bullshit key chips I bought, went silent… fuckin rug… hope they get hacked & get hemorrhoids!

You guys should leave them negative trust. You two are not alone in having been ripped off by this company. Not responding to customers, taking down their instagram (which had bought fake followers) as well as twitter as that no one can call them out publicly …they sadly are exactly who I thought they were.
