Title: What's your reason for buying altcoins?
Post by: dragonvslinux on December 16, 2021, 10:31:59 AM
Please vote in the poll and explain your reasoning below...

Mid-way though Bitcoin's 2017 bull-run, Coinbase, the largest crypto exchange at the time, only offered the choice of three coins - BTC, ETH & LTC - before Binance even existed. Ethereum and Litecoin outperformed Bitcoin that year, especially after many new users saw their values had already increased much more than Bitcoin had, while only being given 3 investment choices.

Since May 2021 altcoin's market share has been around 60% of the total crypto market, confirming that the majority of investors are drawn towards altcoins rather than Bitcoin these days. Coinbase now has over 100 different altcoins, while the largest exchange now offers a choice of over 400 options. The days of turning to shady exchanges like Bittrex, Yobit and Cryptopia have long since passed.

But what is your reason for buying and holding these coins? What type of profits (fiat/btc/eth/other) are you hoping to achieve and have you already taken profits?

Do you genuinely believe any of your altcoins can genuinely surpass Bitcoin or Ethereum's market values in near future?

I voted for FIAT profits. I mainly invest into new and upcoming projects and for that i am part of 2 launchpads. Even though i can only invest small amounts, because (i am no crypto Veteran that has a few BTC or Eth laying around from a few years ago and therefore every crypto investment that i make comes from my Bank account), i am still in the profit zone at the moment, even though my portfolio is like 80% down from it's ATH from back in may this year.

No, I don't believe any of the coins I'm holding right now can surpass what Bitcoin has achieved although they have a good chance with Ethereum, I'm holding altcoins because of their potential to help the industry to grow, they have a platform that can contribute to the adoption of Cryptocurrency and of course profit, the market is dynamic and always changing but none of the coin or token in existence right now can beat Bitcoin's dominance in the market.

We have several altcoin in the market and that's an avenue for diversification of portfolio. The altcoin market has grown over the years to include the good, bad and ugly projects. Though we have many more altcoin projects that are not to be trusted, I still see the market to be growing speedily.

I voted for "For fiat/dollar profits".

I think this is the foremost reasons why investors are in crypto in the first place, only few are really for the technology, everyone wanted to double their money in fiat/dollar value.

So if our altcoins goes to the moon then definitely I will sell it to get my fiat profits and it's up to me whether to reinvest it into altcoins ore go to BTC.

No, I don't have any coin that will surpass the BTC or Ethereum in the future but we can expect a good profit. I would say bitcoin is not cheap to buy and expect a 100X that is illogical as we all know So the reason is quite clear it is not affordable for small investors so we opt out of cheap Altcoins that can be easily afford to buy and hold for good profit but profit depends on the potential of the project even we can not expect every altcoin will outperform and we will easily earn profit so the R&D is also important before buying any coin.

For other profits so as to get a well structured portfolio. Btc for me is strictly for a long time hold but for altcoins I hold based on the news and once I notice a retracement I quickly pullout then wait to buy more or better still switch to other projects that looks reliable. Some altcoins such as they regular meme coin and some NFT projects looks somehow like gambling so holding for too long might be a bit risky

It's simple that altcoins offer more attractive offerings than Bitcoin, such as Metaverse and NFT technologies. to get even faster profits by following the IDO which clearly gives 1000% profit, you can check the results of the IDO on binance, namely coin voxel. all investors know that high risk high return that is makes altcoins look sexy

Well, if you're into the macro level of things you should reason out for Bitcoin or satoshi profit, more like increasing your Bitcoin balance sheet. This isn't a weird thing but it is what it is. Most huge investors will definitely go into increasing their Bitcoin holdings and that's a fact. There comes a time when alts outperformed Bitcoin and that's the opportunity to increase your Bitcoin portfolio before the Bitcoin value flips again.

The only reason is profit. I believe the coins I hold still have potential and the price will increase. every profit I make, I always withdraw to FIAT. and only a small part of which I bought into other altcoins.

no and it's highly unlikely that would happen. I still believe that bitcoin is the greatest coin of all time. so it's impossible for any of the coins in my portfolio to surpass bitcoin. that also applies to ethereum, and the big altcoins that are in the top5.

i'm not sure the altcoins I keep will surpass ETH and btc , but it gives me profit in the short and long term i'm quite happy because what i'm after from buying/storing altcoins is for the profit of getting fiat

All of that is always balanced with risk when the offer can be very large, so it's still not fair to say that Altcoins can be better than Bitcoin, even though it's very clear that Bitcoin doesn't offer a lot of profit but the risk is not too high, so it's all very balanced

That I guess, the majority will invest altcoins for a profit, the same thing why I've risked a few bucks on them. And besides, altcoins just exist because people are buying and supporting their projects. Even rich people are investing just for that sake.
In fact, we sometimes notice that altcoins are even more profiting than Bitcoin and this is why people are still buying some and I do believe that it was still a good investment.

It's just a way of working that you can do and other people do because it's a strategy for each individual or for everyone, so as long as you are very confident in the coins you already hold, then it's not a problem that you should think about.

indeed to become an IDO participant is a good solution. many people get money quickly join IDO. of the many IDO projects the extraordinary thing is that the increase can reach 10x. of the capital we have multiplied by the significant increase. although sometimes there is a gradual distribution that's not a problem of course.?

As long as everything is still willing to be paid on time even though its implementation is gradual it is already very good and extraordinary, so I think that kind of thing is not a problem to continue to follow because taking advantage of a good moment is a very good strategy because it is an opportunity that already exists now

To go to the moon to get fiat profits in huge amounts thats the main reason. I regreted cuz I dont hold my coins from before 2017 tightly. I sold them when I was satisfy enough with the profits I got. If and only if I still hold them till now, I might be retired already  ;D

I marked it as Satoshi in the survey, and I chose this because it was the right one. Normally I get profit by looking at fiat currency. I think increasing the number of Satoshi is a system that can be more profitable in the long run. When I buy a coin, I always have a goal and I get profit from the coin I bought, if I don't get it, keep going.

To go to the moon. I have invested for some quick fiat profits. Have made some great return since January 2021 but down a lot now. Still 2x from the initial investment though.

Do you genuinely believe any of your altcoins can genuinely surpass Bitcoin or Ethereum's market values in near future?
I don’t think anything cab surpass bitcoin. Because it has the most cost of production, it's the most immature chain, it's the most decentralized chain. I'm not sure about Ethereum though. There might be some changes. A great project solving all the issues on Ethereum may come into the 2nd place but I can't see one till now.
However, enjin, a token on Ethereum has a huge potential in my opinion. It deserves to be on top 10 while it's still in 60+ position when I saw last time.

Maybe my voting is not the same as other people, but for me choosing another altcoin aims to make profit other than Bitcoin, like it or not we also can't use the potential of altcoins which of course as investors will target certain points in altcoins that have been included in the research list privately and in general. So in addition to the long term we have to increase the value of profits in altcoins. Not a few altcoins have also provided many advantages. In this case, everything is the same, namely to increase the value of the portfolio as much as possible and avoid unexpected risks by minimizing altcoins that do not have long-term potential.

I think you should add one more option: For fiat/dollars and satoshi profits, because we can try to make a profit in fiat and satoshi simultaneously. So my reason for buying altcoins is to make a profit in fiat and satoshi so we can choose altcoin to help us make more profit besides trading bitcoin pair fiat. But I vote For fiat/dollar profits because that is what I want besides make a profit in satoshi so I hope you can add that option ;D

I have many altcoins ready to sell at a high price and I am sure that can help me get much profit in bitcoin and fiat so I will wait until that time comes.

according to the year you have mentioned which is 2017, even though you mentioned it on the biggest exchange like Coinbase it only offers 3 cryptos, but I only took part in cardano only. in that year the price of cardano was still very cheap and could be reached by all people. my goal in getting it because I believed the cardano would have a fantastic price and now it has been proven.

I wouldn't do that, I mean not that I do not want profit, I do and that is a good reason to buy something for me as well. However, I am in it for the idea of things and I got into bitcoin for the idea of it as well long time ago, ever since that day whenever I buy something then I look at the idea and what type of problem it solves.

Do I like "newer" coins such as avax, matic, sol and what not? Of course, I do and I own a bit of them as well but I looked at the idea of them and feel like it is good enough. They are not going to make me wealthy, but they are fine in concept. Which is why I feel like it is a quite important thing and I expect it to be more like this for a long time. Buying "only" because of the profits doesn't make sense to me.

Altcoin investment is profitable but not all altcoin is worth investment. Some altcoin investment can make someone not ever invest in any new project apart from bitcoin. Base on how expensive bitcoin is, it's still gaining momentum on peoples minds as their number one choice of investment. It's so heartbreaking seeing your thousands of bucks investment turns out to be a penny investment. Now the market is down, investing a thousand bucks in bitcoin will do good profits by next year than the altcoin

For me personally, I the reason is to get profits in fiat. Yeah I cannot ignore that profits are the first reasons why I ma trading altcoins. I don't expect too much that the altcoins will really go to the moon or not because we cannot  know about this. Moreover many new altcoin projects are only pump and dump, and they only promise the chance of go to the moon, but not know when this will exactly happen. I  personally will take profits in fiat when the price has reached the target.

I buy my altcoins in order to get fiat/dollar profits, this is the main reason why I invest in altcoins, in addition, I buy altcoins because of the high price of bitcoin, which is difficult to buy. The prices of most altcoins are good and we can buy them without sacrificing huge capital so I have Many altcoins that I eagerly await to give me good profits with the advent of 2022.

Most people want high profits and I guess, that's normal for every person.
But one also should look at things realistically, because if you have high hopes and you didn't achieve it, you may get disappointed and depressed.
Some are buying cheap alts because it seems that you have large stash of coins, but we should assess if they have possibility to increase its value.
Because a lot of cheap coins will just continue to go down up until the dev team abandon the project, which you will be holding worthless coins.

There are lots of reasons to look at:

- Bitcoin is considered as can't be touched nowadays by an ordinary investor although they can buy at a fraction
- There are altcoins that are worth investing in long term like ETH, BNB, KCS
- Some altcoins are getting hyped and with the right timing, we can profit from it whether it's a new coin or meme coin

Buying altcoins should always be part of our activity. Don't just stick with Bitcoin as there are valuable altcoins to choose from.

I'm sure many coins have the potential to surpass ethereum and bitcoin from their price. But history says that bitcoin will never be replaced because bitcoin is the beginning of its own cryptocurrency. Before we get to know other coins we must always learn about bitcoin first.

In addition to researching the price history, you can check the altcoin's market health through its trade volume. Simply put, when more people trade higher amounts of an altcoin in the market, that altcoin is in good shape. It's even better if people find actual use in that altcoin.

Investing in this project shoudn't be focused on this you just wrote or you might be drawn to a wrong investment that is just end you in losses. Avoid any project calming to out perform Bitcoin and those projects that calm to be ethereum killers in the past are no where to be found now. The new smart contract related projects doing so well don't call themselves ethereum killers instead they understand that there has to be other alternative and that's the solution they're providing.

Investing in altcoins should be focused on the technology this project are developing and as they pose an even greater chance of having more return of investment although coming with it high risk as well. Investing in altcoin for me is just to have other source of generating cash flow for my other investment which has to be securing as much Bitcoin as possible due to its finite nature and potential it holds to disrupt the financial system and other real estate investment.

To seek for a PROFIT is what we aim for why investing altcoins. But because so many worthless altcoins exist in the market today, that is why most of the people here investing and sharing huge funds into Bitcoin. Well, that was supposed to happen and that was what I did also for funds protections. Altcoins are indeed the 2nd option to people's whitelist, I actually buy a few altcoins when I know that I was having a chance to make a profit but felt not to risk new projects as they are mostly scams and worthless.

I don't think any altcoins have potential to overcome bitcoin price for the next decade at least. As I see, people who invest in altcoins mainly aim faster profit percentage, although it's not a guarantee, because bitcoin has the same potential of surprising the market just like we saw during the last bull run which pushed it to a new ATH.

Personally, I buy and like altcoins which offer extra benefita besides speculative profit opportunities. I mean altcoins which have a real use, like some NFTs and some tokens which offer benefits inside crypto platforms, such as FUN token.

Ethereum is also a must as a safe currency to hold money when dealing outside exchanges, inside ETH platform, since bitcoin isn't an alternative.

I voted for Satoshi for one reason that Bitcoin is able to achieve great profits in the long run due to the economic feasibility that it has enjoyed since its inception to this day.!!
I would also like to point out that people who invest in companies may see their investment cut drastically by a newly created stock market, which is why I think it’s best for traders and investors alike to get ahead of the curve now while they still can!!!

All this does not mean that altcoins cannot generate better revenue, on the contrary, we have seen many projects that have been very successful and can achieve more in the future. However, for now, I prefer Bitcoin to all. I may have a different opinion in the future. This is just an impression!! ;D >:( ;D

^ For those who wanted and seek profit in a short period of time, altcoins are the best place. But don't forget the risk that was there, it will always be in the altcoins because they are usually in hype which is there is no real use but they pumped because of the hype or have been manipulated.
Trusting and investing altcoins it seems like you are gambling your money, though it's not that a high risk but for sure you will have a loss once it will dump with prior notice. If you are an expert in fundamental analysis, good for you to risk your money in an altcoin.

^ I'm not usually used to buying altcoin. Most of the time I buy Bitcoin when the price of Bitcoin is low. If a new project is launched and it seems profitable, I sometimes participate in their token sale. I think the main reason for investing in altcoin is the low capability of investment. If you have $100 to invest, you can make very little profit by investing in Bitcoin at such a high price, because you can't buy a full Bitcoin, you have to buy a fraction. but with a small investment in altcoin, the profit is higher because you can buy a lot of full coins at a low price. .

I have bought or mined altcoin for the same reason I have mined and bought bitcoin.

The process had been the same every time. I come to know about bitcoin. read the whitepaper and decided whether it is of value. Mined it. Then mined more and bought it at opportune moment or some time were forced as old exchanges closed on me. I usually don't buy POS unless there is an arbitrage opportunity. For example, when it was not possible to mine bitcoin anymore with cpu / gpu I used my cpu / gpu s to mine altcoins. Even at that time I expanded my cpu farm and gpu farm during the whole of 2016-2019 until GPU shortage made the price go to moon. When 1 altcoin is not mineable anymore I used the GPUs to mine the next alt coin depending on the objective of the alt coin. When bitcoin was not possible to mine by gpu I bought asics. Similarly when altcoins were not mineable anymore I bought asics. I am not influenced by Elon to buy a particular alt coin. Because i don't think elon has as much understanding of crypto as I have just like I don't have his vision in electric vehicle and space voyage. I respect him hold tesla stock for long time but I do not blindly follow him. Actually when he tweets about a failed alt coin that may be the time to sell it. If I had one of those coins then I would evaluate selling it after Elon tweets about such a shit coin. I basically buy an altcoin that has a promise which bitcoin did not have or may be bitcoin did have that promise but the feature is bit compromised in case of bitcoin but is implemented better in that altcoin. I rarely ever buy a coin without mining it, holding a personal wallet and doing some real transaction with it just to validate the use case.

The main reason I invest in some of the altcoins is to look for projects with a solid team that has innovative ideas on how to solve real-world issues. There are a ton of coins out there that offer nothing more than a bunch of empty promises just to pump and dump over and over again. There are others that have a solid team behind them with a real marketing strategy and follow through on their roadmap. Those are the ones I like to put my money behind.

for what I am buying a coins here in the cryptocurrency, just make sure the coins has a potentials to give profit and has a good at least

Do you genuinely believe any of your altcoins can genuinely surpass Bitcoin or Ethereum's market values in near future?
I have investments in altcoins, not distrust in the altcoins I have but I am sure especially at this time that no one altcoins I own can surpass Bitcoin that's a hard things, while to surpass ETH is possible but it is very unlikely to happen in this year or in short term.
Yes to be able to surpass or beat Bitcoin so far is very difficult but even so I see Ethereum has the potential to do that in the future,
Of course we also have to follow its development and we'll see later,
what is clear in crypto is difficult to predict

I don't know how to react to the op post, especially asking what type of profit you hope to get! Really? What does it matter what kind of profit, the bottom line is you are making something out of your investment which is the number one goal of many investors,
In case @op is new to alts investment, you can't compare investing $100 on alts same as investing $100 on btc, the former has high profit opportunity than the latter. That simple.

I don't believe that altcoins can surpass bitcoin at any time, but what makes me interested in altcoins is because of the many available coins that we can use for investment, bitcoin has a very high selling value, almost 60% of people can't afford to invest in it, so people -people have to take other steps, in order to take advantage of investing in altcoins, this is what influences altcoins to continue to be driven to successful development.

Fiat profit is my top choice. The purpose of investing in projects with the aim of delivering more in the future than the current investment value. Spending part time constantly monitoring market conditions and wisely reviewing Altcoin development issues so as not to make wrong decisions. And speaking Alt is far from likely to surpass the price of bitcoin.

I am from a country where there are a lot of restrictions to buy or sell cryptocurrencies hence I never target fiat profits. I am always investing/collecting altcoins with the aim of maximizing my bitcoin stash. This is the reason I am always preparing to calculate my profit or loss only in btc values. When you are believing in to the stronger future for bitcoins then you will try to maximize your bitcoin holding in all possible opportunities and for me altcoin investments must be one of them.

Honestly I never plan of any long term holding for any of altcoins as I never believe into any promises; this way I will always rush for encashing altcoins into bitcoins and so far it helped me in better way.

In my own opinion, I don't think so, no coin can do that, with Bitcoin there is a real use case and it's heading for mass adoption. Having said that, I believe quite a lot of investors buy altcoins cause it can give returns in the short term, that's why it's referred to as short term investment, many altcoins pump and dump, thus if you're lucky to buy it and then it pumps, that'll give good ROI, and many Investors go through this strategy, that's cause they do not have the patience to wait in the Bitcoin network for long term returns, they want to make profit a little time after they have Invested.

I choose altcoin investment because altcoins can increase very significantly. The volatility in altcoins mostly is bigger than in Bitcoin. Everybody must know that some altcoins could increase above 100% or even above 1000% in a short time. It cannot happen in Bitcoin, Bitcoin needs a long time to increase above 100%.

When I take profits, I prefer to convert them to fiats. At the end of bullish day, I dream to collect all profits in fiats. It makes me easy to count how much the profits got during the bullish season.

I would say that the reason I am buying altcoins is for transferring of the funds or to sell to fiat as it doesn't cost much in transaction fee. Some altcoins doesn't need much fee and especially at this kind of time where we are hit with the typhoon rai. So, using the lowest transaction fee would be beneficial to me. Internet is also a problem here so fast confirmation would also be good.

My reason for buying altcoins is to increase my bitcoin and usdt simultaneously because some altcoins can jump higher in the usdt pair. So that will make sense if I am trying to buy many good altcoins that can increase someday, whether it will increase in a short time or longer. In the last bull trend, my altcoins give me a big profit so that is why I will still buy many good coins because, with that, I can make more bitcoin.

No, I don't believe that. What I do believe is we should just take advantage of the altcoins in the market. Buy them, wait for the hype for the price to go up  and then withdraw it for USD. Now it depends on the investor of what coin he prefer next to buy it back. He could use all those profits to buy Bitcoin or Ethereum and let it stay or just buy another altcoin and do the same thing until you are satisfied.
It may not be an easy task but it could work if done on the right method. My preferred strategy is buying it in Bitcoin whenever a dump happens.

Most traders who buy altcoins expect a large profit from them, which amounts to hundreds of percent and which cannot be expected from BTC in the short term. In the future, everyone distributes the profit differently, which is sent either to fiat or to buy top coins, such as BTC and ETH, for the hodl.

That’s right, and that would also include me, those who buy altcoins who’s after gaining profit from such and stretching every opportunity there is to multiply it. And this is also an influence of the saying that we must diversify our crypto portfolio,  which I believe to be my safety plan.

Mind you that this is not always the case, altcoins are soaked with risks cause many of them are pump and dump coins, and if you're unlucky, they'll dump when you buy them and you'll lose your funds, what altcoins are good for is short term investment, when you put your funds in when the price is low, you immediately withdraw when it pumps, it's very risky cause it's almost impossible to predict, though people do make profits that way, but many more people incur losses and it is what it is. Bitcoin is by far a more better option, especially if you're looking at the long term return/profits, it's not a pump and dump coin, so you can be rest assured that it wouldn't just dump/plunge and stay down, it'll always rise back up till you eventually make profit.

The dominance of bitcoin in the market is so strong, the possibility of surpassing it is so small, it can even be said to be non-existent. Even so, alternative coins can be another option to enter in it. For example, when bitcoin is experiencing a correction. In altcoins there are also other interesting offers, so don't just focus on one point. Judging from its development I can say, owning altcoins is something that must be, as our long-term asset.

Personally, I buy tokens and keep them for hold to make a profit in the future. When buying, I analyze, first of all, the project itself and its idea. If I see that this project solves a specific problem and has possible directions of development. Then I bet on it. Also analyzing the main parameters, capitalization. team and tokonomics. For example, I hold the Near Protocol token, because I see the potential for possible development in various aspects, for example, cooperation with different blockchains that is already taking place, and against the background of this possible news, the token  itself will grow strongly. Therefore, I think it is important to take into account the possible ways of development!

Currently I work in an office with a monthly salary of around $450, I come in from Monday to Saturday so I spend a lot of time in the office, when I have free time I always follow the development of cryptocurrencies so I will invest, every month I invest around $75 to buy coins like BNB, Cardano, MATIC and new listed coins and the main goal is for me to make big profits.
Anyone investing in the altcoin market is expecting a huge return in a short period of time and you need to be careful when you are investing in alts as you cannot expect them to move up all the time and most of the times some of the alt rallies does not make any sense either, so luck is a major factor and who knows someone like Elon Musk would shill Doge and that take them to new valuations that no one expected.

The main reason behind buying altcoins for me is that I missed out the Bitcoin train when it was in its baby steps and now I can't make enough returns by investing in Bitcoins. So if I am a little bit lucky then I can surely bank big by investing in altcoins and then I can become financially stable and maybe never have to do a 9 to 5 job in the future ever. But sadly it isn't any close to becoming true till now.
never just rely on LUCKY but have to trust the coins of your choice. It probably you have chosen the best and most promising one so, you'll be expecting a profit. And besides, some altcoins are more profitable than Bitcoin, and if time gives you the chance, you'll probably make more than just investing in Bitcoin.

As I bought some altcoins, I'm also buying Bitcoin. Well, I'd look for long-term and short-term investment so I consider buying Bitcoin even the price is not cheap while taking these altcoins ideal for a short-term deals.

You must know how to trade well once you have save to start for your trading and have enough savings . I have friendswho already quit job and just focus on trading may it be in forex and crypto. Do not quit unless you already secure some for your funds and for trading to avoid regretting or going back again in 9-5 job since the market is too volatile. Soon you might reach your goal when youre focus in it.
You would really make yourself sustainable and able to have that financial freedom plus you would really get free on that 8-5 job on everyday basis which is really a sure thing or an advantage.

If you do know on how to deal off with this market and able to get used to it or advantage then that would really be a sure thing on having a good life. Each one of us does have that common

goal which is to make profits neither you are aiming for accumulating satoshis or totally with fiat value or whatever kind of reason it would be.

Altcoins have a better return on income over coins like bitcoin or ethereum and because they are priced low and i think they can easily convince people to invest in them unlike the 30,000 per bitcoin or 2700 per ethereum.

New Altcoins is like a second chance to buy bitcoin at the start because I felt that BTC is already at it's peak so if I am going to make my maximum ROI it is better to go for new Altcoins that in my own research offers something that the world will need.
I don't think any of the Altcoins will displace bitcoin at the top of the coin market capitalisation presently because bitcoin is very much decentralised with lots of institutional investors backing it.

however, i'm not sure that as good as i predict the coins i hold will outperform bitcoin and ethereum in the future. however, the number of altcoins I currently have is quite a lot. So, just a few percent increase, the profit I get is quite a lot. that is my goal of holding altcoins that I currently own. to go to the moon.

I see only one reason where altcoins are better investment than Bitcoin. Altcoins are able to multiply its price in a short period, but Bitcoin is not  able to do it. To have investment in Bitcoin multiplied, years must be passed. Such situation happened only due to Bitcoin high price. The lower is the price, the easier it will be to increase it. But that does not mean that altcoins are better than Bitcoin. Bitcoin has other advantage, it is more stable than altcoins.

I think re-investing your profits is the best way to invest your money. Of course there is a portion of your profits that will be used to buy something that you need or you want or to pay expenses and bills but for me, it is my priority to re-invest most of my profits into crypto or maybe into other assets that can give me profit in the long run.

I am also one of those who brought bitcoins early but also did sell my coins thinking I have made enough profit off of bitcoin and now I am regretting my decision, so what else to do now?? That's the reason why I keep on investing in altcoins and hoping that one day I would potentially hit a gold mine and would redeem the mistake I did with bitcoin. But till now I am still unlucky and not found that project that would make me a millionaire, so the hustle must go on. Another reason would be that altcoins are now being more innovative than that of bitcoin, bitcoin is still the same as it was from the start but it is not the same with altcoins as they are providing more value to cryptocurrency economy and day to day use.

For fiat/dollar profits
That's the first reason I'm interested in cryptocurrency investing.

I'm not worried about the price falling right now, because my target is in the future when I already want to use the profits with those cryptocurrency investments.

That's simply because a lot of investors now know that alts give a far better ROI than Bitcoin within a short period of time (sometimes, on long term too). By the way, OP I think your question should've been situated in a way that a particular alt is used as a case study. If not, your question is an open one and I think all answers that will be aggregated here, in whatever guise, will point to one thing and that's "Profit Making". But of course, it's common knowledge that everyone goes into business to make profit, isn't it? Anyone who wants to pretend and be hypocritical about it can go on deceiving themselves.  For me, the sole aim of investing in any project is profit making.

I bought altcoins because I saw the potential it has, there are many options for me to invest where we like. And that became one of the reasons for me, why I bought altcoins. When the price of bitcoin is like now, yes, altcoins are an option for us, so we can still take advantage in situations like this.
The steps you have taken are indeed right and it is not wrong to take advantage of the current situation to buy some Altcoins, but you also have to look at coins that have the potential to recover faster at the time of purchase, don't buy immediately without considering this because there are many people who regretted in the past for choosing the wrong Altcoin at the time of buying it.
Criterias?

1. Potential
2. Liquidity or volume
3. Real use case
4. Recognition or popularity

Primary factors which you do need to consider before jumping into investing but choosing one wont really be simple as it sounds.
There are still coins/projects which are still undervalued and most people is trying to find it.

The drop in the market like now makes me prefer to wait, I'm happy because since last December I parked about 80% of assets into stable coins so I can avoid big losses, if I buy any coin right now I can get up to 200% but I'd rather wait because of the news that bitcoin will drop under $30k.
I do the same as you do.
although I'm a bit late because I did this in mid-December but it doesn't really matter because it's better than being in bitcoin right now :D

I think they will touch the price again because their trendline is still not showing signs of going up and still below.
I feel this decline is still going to continue and this is not their low point I think.

I wouldn't want to pick "for dollar profits" because I am not that kind of person, but the investments I want to make are all in fiat after I reach a certain level. I could have clicked "other" as well if I had the chance but I didn't want to make it look like results showed other heavily. It's mainly like I want to have passive income, and I do that in crypto, and I am fine with that, there is nothing I want to change right now.

However, if I end up getting super rich one day, like have 200k dollars or something then I would buy a bunch of houses and then use that money to live instead of passive income from crypto. I would still go back and buy some crypto from the rents I am making from those houses, but buying houses makes sense. If you consider buying a house is fiat, then my answer is fiat, if you consider it other then my answer is other.

The meme coins with no real use case is the perfect example for this.
When an alt have enough publicity and became really popular, potential and volume will always follow suit. Because people are actually buying what has been pumped so hard by the influencers, celebrities, and other known business man with big names in the industry.

I decided to hodl some altcoins because I know they spike their price in the next years to come but it's all depends on their developers and what kind of project they have. Most of the time projects are the same and have the same agenda but you need to look at the team because that's all that matters. Whatever they promise to do in the future with their project, if they don't have the necessary resources, it won't really happen, I've seen lots of those broken promises in the past. only those projects that have legit teams and enough funds are able to update and promote their project well.

Altcoins are great both to convert to satoshis as well as to convert to fiat dollars. After all, we all have living and other expenses to take care of. Also, using altcoin profits for these expenses allows you to keep all of your bitcoin.

However, not all altcoins are equal. I tend to stick to those in the top 50.

Usually always with wrong decision with mine because when holding several altcoin more than one or two years later price dump and almost my coin assets delist from exchange, but I don't know why when early for selling coin price pump without two or three months later. I still remember with HEX coin buy on pre sale and got cheapest price, not any ideas for holding because when listing get good price and profit than 10% but now most angry why not holding because price pump almost $0.3 and I sold my HEX coin under $0.05.

The reason I personally buy altcoins is none other than, of course I want to make a profit, I have no intention of making altcoins a collection, my goal is just to make a profit, of course I will exchange everything with fiat currency, working during a pandemic is very difficult, so this is the only way i can do to be able to make money..
Most of us are here because we wanted to make money but the only difference is that some will place their profits on this coin or the other to continue making more money while the other cashes it out already. That is good if your goal is to make some bucks besides there is a risk of continues holding and trading.

Eth and btc currently lead the entire cryptocurrency market because of how huge they are and they wont easily get pull down even if the coin has some potentials. In my case I mainly buy altcoins because I am using it to gamble online, they are cheap and faster to use than bitcoins. If profit is where talking about, I only invest and hold bitcoins.

Don't you guys think that all the options are relevant ? If we buy altcoins we do expect it to go to the moon.
We hope that the price pumps up which eventually means that it's value in BTC, ETH and USD will go up as well.

Well I particularly buy altcoins so that my over portfolio remains balance and increases potentially in the long term.

The main reason is the inspiration of many people who are successful and become millionaires from cryptocurrencies, I'm sure there will be many skyrocketing projects like HEX, DOGE or shiba which go up thousands of percent in a year and this is my passion to invest cryptocurrencies.

I voted For fiat/dollar profits. Because altcoins return us high profit then Bitcoin or Ethereum in short time. Almost every people bought cryptocurrency altcoins for get profit and grow there FIAT money And to meet his daily expenses, needs and hobbies.

It's no doubt that many have became fortunate and wealthy investing in altcoins. They're not just lucky but also they did it at the right time.
Because there are not so many successful people just as theirs that have made from thousands of dollars up to millions. That thinking got into everyone's mind that they could be the next altcoin millionaire through investing on those that haven't pumped yet.

Actually it is very easy to determine the investment position at this time, if someone likes long-term investments, then he can use the current conditions to buy more coins, but if he likes it only in the short term, then he should really choose the right coin for him to buy at this time
I don’t really think anyone who is investing or trading short term, has to be looking for a particular time to get into the market and start trading or investing. A day trader or short term investor can invest at anytime they see the opportunity, it doesn’t matter whether it is during a bearish trend like we are currently in now, or a bullish trend, what matters to them is seeing that short term opportunity that they can utilize and make profit like.

But when you are a long term investor, you will have to worry about investing at the right time, so that you will be able to hold it for as long as you can and then get your profit.

May 2021 altcoin's market share has been around 60% of the total crypto market, confirming that the majority of investors are drawn towards altcoins rather than Bitcoin these days.

I disagree with you on the fact that you said more investors are drawn towards altcoins than bitcoin, we all know that is not the truth. Bitcoin alone has a market dominance of over 40%, that is really huge, because we know that there are so many altcoins in the market, and all of them makes up the 60% you’re talking about.

If you check these coins individually, you would see that they really have nothing at all, except Ethereum that has a dominance of 18% which is far more better than most of the other altcoins.

As for the reasons why I am investing in altcoins, it is for me to make profit. If not for profit, then I don’t see any other reason why I should be investing in the market.

The reason I personally buy altcoins is none other than, of course I want to make a profit, I have no intention of making altcoins a collection, my goal is just to make a profit, of course I will exchange everything with fiat currency, working during a pandemic is very difficult, so this is the only way i can do to be able to make money..

This is the reason majoring are interested in the cryptocurrency industry so I would say this is no longer a reason because already we know you want to make money. We now have many altcoins out there but there has to be a reason when you will invest in this particular altcoins instead of others. You can say because that is most likely to give you more more quickly but why, what is the reason you think that altcoin is most likely to succeed.

Discussion like this is what I what to hear when reading threads on why you invested in a particular altcoins and not just because of the general assumptions that you will profit from such investment. We have different altcoins and they all have what they do and problem they are solve, why do you believe yours will perform better or you just invest from hype?.

I think altcoin have potential with much profit than bitcoin trough not have enough money for investing, some altcoin can pump almost 40% in daily day or long term investment and can't reach almost higher percent with bitcoin and this why I keep holding and investing with altcoin only. Never take investing again with bitcoin after price pump and always altcoin as my favorite coin for trading or investing with long or short term. I think have many potential and earn profit more than 300% by investing with altcoin than try to invest with bitcoin because under $2,000 looks very little profit earn in bitcoin investment.

If the reason is due to technological developments, of course the main coin is Bitcoin, namely Bitcoin as the first coin.

Remember altcoins are very slow to grow when they are a big drop unless in your portfolio pick some of my top altcoins they are safe enough to last longer than useless meme coins.

In that case, investing with Bitcoin while holding altcoins would be a good option. The profit that we could take from altcoins could also be reinvested in Bitcoin because yes, most altcoins are Bitcoin dependent. The movement of altcoins relies on Bitcoin so it will still be an advantage if you'll invest with BTC and other altcoins and I'm sure that it will always be worth it.

What happens is that many people think that altcoins can give them better returns than BTC itself because it can suddenly rise 30 or 40%, but they forget that if BTC falls, altcoins bleed impressively, and this has to be taken into account so that everything that has to do with investment is thought about, in fact before buying altcoins, it is always good to review the panorama with BTC, because if a good bullish movement is coming and if the person manages to predict it, The best time to buy any altcoin is that, because if BTC is doing well, obviously altcoins are also doing well because they are a direct consequence of BTC, that is, all altcoins depend directly on BTC.

I already have several altcoin portfolios to prepare for the next bull run to happen again but the main altcoins in my portfolio are investing in crypto while looking for profit when prices go up. There are many reasons why people buy altcoins, especially today the market is red, an opportunity for traders to gather. top altcoins and real happening everyone wants to profit on crypto future.
What specific altcoin have you stock maybe become several coin recommended for me to buy back, I am still waiting with dip price and want to buy back BNB on $310 because last two week I loss opportunity without have saving money when BNB dump. I think many people and investor are buying back with  BNB coin and they can get much profit one day later if BNB back above $500. Still can't investing when have good chance to buy back BNB and now I have about $8000 waiting for buying back BNB if really dump again.

Yes for faster transactions we often need to spend some extra dollars but that is the case of you who keep only Bitcoin and Eth like coins. I also faced the same situation in the past. I hope that in the future with more development and with ETH 2.0 the problem will be solved as I think they will reduce the transaction fees. Right now I am relying only on small coins which I think is the only solution.

You are right but only for some people. Some may have other view for to be in altcoins. Some will want to gain the community of a particular coin and will adopt that coin to be announced in that community. Some will want to give convenience to their customers and will adopt a coin for their customers and some will want a single payment system for the whole world as online payment processors often limit some countries.

Logically speaking, I will agree with you. Crypto is mostly used as an investment and we can't hide that fact. That's the main reason why crypto is being hyped and investors are all coming in, to expect a good profit in the long run.

New users entering the crypto market should just make sure they are well prepared for those risks that will face. Crypto might give us a good and decent profit but that's not that simple as they think.

My reason to buy altcoins is to make profit. They usually have wilder fluctuations in price, than Bitcoin itself. But I wouldn't take them as a serious investment (except for Ethereum) simply because they can instantly "disappear" in a blink of an eye. I don't believe any other cryptocurrency will be able to surpass both Bitcoin and Ethereum, because these two have first mover advantage. Not only that, but they're the most decentralized cryptocurrencies in the world. Other coins may be faster and cheaper to use, but they lack security & reliability. It's why most investors trust BTC and ETH more than anything else.

I've already placed my vote, and was not surprised to see the majority voted for the same thing (choosing alts for profit). After all, most people are into crypto to become rich quick. What ultimately matters is the usability of any given cryptocurrency. As long as the cryptocurrency you're investing into provides real use cases to the mainstream world, nothing else matters. Remember, it's not about hype but rather "concrete results". You'll be on a road towards non-stop success if you play your cards right. Just my thoughts ;D

Depends on the type of altcoin you invest. Not many coins disappear in blink of an eye, many of them still stay around, they may go down but they are still around. I get that XRP for example reached second ranked for a while, but now it is at 8th, which shows that it didn't go up as much as others, or BCH and BSV duo never liked by the community too much and it dropped in rank a lot as well they are very low now. These are just three examples, there are plenty of them around.

However that doesn't mean that most of the coins are like that, if you invest into something fundamentally sound then you will not be losing too much profit from them as well. I feel like they are definitely things that people could invest easily and then they could forget about it for 10 years and when they come back they will have plenty of profit as well, you just have to find them.

Altcoins provide an excellent opportunity to make a profit, which is often several times higher than the potential profit from bitcoin. In this case, you can use the resulting profit to increase the amount of bitcoin that you hold. But when investing in altcoins, you need to carefully select coins to buy, otherwise you will receive a loss instead of profit.

Experts caution that Bitcoin is highly speculative, and altcoins are even more so. Ethereum, the most widely heard-about altcoin, has grown significantly since its 2015 launch, thanks to its smart contract capabilities and the popularity of digitally scarce art known as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). ETH has a market cap of more than $500 billion at the time of writing this article.

But don’t let the popularity of altcoins result in fear-of-missing-out (FOMO). Even crypto evangelists view the rise of cryptocurrency with some healthy skepticism.

“Everyone always looks at other people making money and they’re like, ‘what about me?’” says Nelson Merchan, CEO of blockchain events firm Light Node Media “But I think that the beauty of what crypto really allows us to do is reassess our relationship with money

I bought altcoins compared to bitcoin because I saw the possibility to skyrocket greater than hold bitcoin, as we know that the price of bitcoin is already expensive while currently many altcoins are very cheap even if we invest only $ 10 then the opportunity to get big profits because new coins are usually will burn or pump big.
It's actually the same, bitcoin and altcoins have the same potential. On the other hand, some altcoins are following the trend of bitcoin. But it comes back to ourselves, where is the most comfortable place to invest, because both of them have promising ones. But when it comes to the long term, I think I would prefer bitcoin.

This doesn't really mean that you have to hold either the one or the other. I mean I do believe that alts have a better chance of skyrocketing to a higher price but that doesn't mean that I will not hold bitcoin neither. So, I have some of my investment in bitcoin and some of them in other coins and they combine to be a good portfolio. I have been in the green for a few years now, not super rich or anything but doing alright for myself.

I assume this will be the case for a while longer. This is why if you think bitcoin is safe, then spend a little on alts so you do not lose too much, if you think bitcoin is TOO safe then invest a little bit to bitcoin so it is still safe there.

Good point. There are a small number of altcoins that will survive in the long term because of their communities supporting them every step of the way. They often deliver concrete results than just focusing themselves on hype. I'd say Ethereum, Cardano, and BNB will survive because they bring real use cases to the mainstream world. They're reliable investments that will last for a very long time. You can simply buy such altcoins and "hodl" them knowing that they will still be alive in the future. I wouldn't say the same about Bitcoin forks like BSV and BCH, though.

Ultimately, buying altcoins is all about making money in the long term. As long as you play your cards right, you'll have nothing to worry about. Just my thoughts ;D

Indeed, we buy and hold altcoins for one reason and that is to make a profit from them. And choosing the right coins is a huge factor in regards to what we want to happen and this is somewhat a very challenging part in crypto investment as not all were here are knowledgeable enough but mostly just follow the hypes and invest in what the other says.
However, it was too unfortunate that not all were able to reach their goal, many had fail and suffered the consequences and lose their hard earned money.

Altcoins have indeed invigorated the crypto industry. There are quite numerous innovations in cryptocurrency that are Altcoins. I invest in Altcoins becuase the Altcoin(s) industry offer numerous opportunities that shows prospective growth. I have indeed experienced some gains in  some Altcoins that I invested in, showing that investing in Altcoins is not a bad idea so long as you have done your research and you have invested using the amount you can afford to lose. Just as every other investment, I buy Altcoin(s) for the primary reason that it will appreciate in value, then I can exchange it to some other coin/token or to fiat or re-invest in another Altcoin or Bitcoin.

Not in a way that it would be like global and suddenly change everyone's lives, but there are some that actually show us how some things could be. Like for example there was a "first" DeFi somewhere, I do not know which one was first but I know that it paved the way, then there was UNI and Cake that took the first place and everyone knows about that.

This resulted with us learning more about DEX and the ecosystem of it. Then there were first NFT's, I believe cryptokitties paved the way and then we had all these art stuff and now other stuff as well. All in all that is a great way for some art protection, I know many hate it and I will never invest into it but it at least changed some stuff. So all in all we are talking about something that is magnificently different and that matters a lot.

Even if it is to go to the moon, the ending is to get fiat profits for me  ;D
Yes, converting the profits into fiat is what I am doing right now, so I can use them both for cashing out or even for other trading activities again.
for me, Holding Bitcoin may be a little bit different from altcoins. I may hold BTC much longer than altcoins because we don't exactly know how strong altcoins will be. And whether the altcoins will be exactly to the moon or not, will be back to the previous ATH or not. '
There should be some deeper analysis to hold altcoins for the long term.

I am a long term trader, earning a few dollars to hold a few months to years seems very small. It's better to wait until the moon and take advantage when we have found the highest price. I am satisfied with the high profit.
As you said here, it means that you need to find the exact project or altcoins that will be going to the moon. Long-term holding may work on some coins that we have, but sometimes,s it ends up in sometimes. however, if you are a long-term holder, I am sure enough that you have already understood to find the right type of altcoins that may have more potential future and go tot he moon.

I voted Fiat profit above, and indeed basically I need Fiat to buy my daily needs, crypto is not accepted here. Maybe for my retirement fund I will put it in Ether or some other good coin like Matic or BNB. Simply put, I need Fiat for the short term and need Alts for the long and medium term, I think that's my answer.
We do have our own choices neither fiat or crypto in long term then it is really our own choice which we do seem that it would benefit us out but of course you should be mindful
about the risks involved.

Reason on buying altcoins would be most likely be talking about  big possible profits could made out when the coin did really make out some significant rise.
Whatever the reason we do have then it would really be talking about investment which is to make profits no matter what kind of
strategy you would have.

U haven't found a reason to but any Alt-Coins so here are my reasons for not buying, the good ones has a higher price tag, the Alt-Coins I could at least buy and hold on to aren't legit to my thoughts, many Alt-Coins out now maynhas a scam White paper and they are looking at achieving unrealistic expectations/goals set for themselves, I still stand to be correct ok this one but I think Alt-Coins is for a shorter time for buying and holding and also not to be bought at first with irreplaceable capital, be smart, when you are buying or selling on crypto-currency

There are altcoins that perform good than top altcoins and even bitcoin. What I mean is the growth, and this can be a hype or sometimes be a manipulated one. To enjoy the profit one needs to be lucky and very few get an opportunity. A fine example is the Shiba, none gave consideration but things changed all of the sudden and now it is one among the highly valued altcoin in the market though it is a memecoin.

I don't think as of now any Altcoin will surpass Bitcoin in near future nowadays Ethereum is also getting stronger so I believe the real competition is between both of them. I buy altcoins because I can't afford to buy bitcoin as it's very costly to buy so I prefer low-value high potential altcoins if they rise they can give me much more profit than BTC or Ethereum in terms of percentage but the fact is most of the Altcoins diminish in long term still trying my luck and I have trust on my own analysis.

The reason I bought altcoins is because of fiat, my goal in buying altcoins is to make a profit, so when it comes to the technology in it, I don't really understand it and I just need to understand the basics, the most important thing is profit.
Profit is indeed the final thing that is always prioritized by everyone and also it is always the ultimate goal for everyone, so this issue of profit always has to do with the initial decision before being taken as the main step for everyone.

because of its potential to the moon. we don't buy altcoins just because we like them, but we need to see the potential of their development and their demands and needs. if the development from year to year is quite good, and the market demand is also very large, then it becomes an interest for investors to buy the coin, especially if its use is very widely used. because of all its advantages, its potential to the moon is huge, and many people are becoming interested in buying it.

I prefer to buy altcoins because I prefer to do day trading rather than HOLD coins. Indeed, this sounds a little strange, yes, but I am still learning to control my emotions well, therefore I am not too brave to take steps for HOLD. Indeed, many say that the benefits of HOLD will be much more, therefore I will study more deeply. So far, the profits I get from daily trading have met my needs and even more than enough. Moreover, I get them in the near term so that when there is an urgent need, I don't have to worry about making money.

I choose fiat profits and also expect the altcoins I hold will go to the moon, it may seem selfish but that's one of the reasons I hold altcoins instead of having to invest in a bank.
Indeed, no one recommends investing in a bank :D, so as long as you want to hold your altcoins for profit, I don't think it will be wrong and it's not a greedy thing that you have to tell many people, because it is a very natural thing.

I don't think there is an altcoin capable of replacing the role of bitcoin as the "gold standard in the crypto sector" ::) .

Some altcoins have a specific use in certain situations (in the past it was very common use dogecoin between two exchanges since fees was of 1 dogecoin and not 0.0001 btc) and it's more comfortable than bitcoin .
In the end, the only real currency that matters, and the only reference currency is always bitcoin.
All price are based in bitcoin. All exchanges accept bitcoin and all people using crypto will accept always bitcoin.

This preamble, to say that all the exchanges I make or trade have in mind the idea of accumulating as many satoshi as possible and not looking for the "new bitcoin" which is just a chimera.

There are too many unique and unrepeatable aspects behind bitcoin. As soon as these aspects are realized (it is not easy and at least for me it took time) it becomes clear the strategic importance of this crypto currency which "is here to stay" and to become an economic point of reference at every level.

The main reason of course is to want to get big profits and be able to have passive income, I believe with altcoins then I will be successful like many people's stories, this is easier than investing in other places that take a long time for big profits, some altcoins that I save for the long term are MATIC, BNB, Crypto.com and so on.

Well, never think about easy investment as crypto never fits that. Maybe you would say it was a risky investment.
Of course, people who invest in Altcoins (or even Bitcoin) have one reason I think and that is to make a profit. Do some say they fail and lose their money when investing in crypto? That eventually gonna happen who never know what they are doing as choosing the most promising coins is highly appreciated in order to reach our goal.

I'm sure to buy altcoins because I see a lot nowadays that there are many altcoin developers who always try hard to build their fundamentals well. Although bitcoin always has a big influence on the ups and downs of altcoins, many altcoin projects are growing day by day. holder that the altcoin is going to the moon.
That means that what remains to be seen is Bitcoin and that can also help everyone in deciding what Altcoin they should choose so there is less chance of getting lost because not all Altcoins can be good to choose in the current conditions.

Do you genuinely believe any of your altcoins can genuinely surpass Bitcoin or Ethereum's market values in near future?

I do not know if overtaking bitcoin market value will be possible but I know it will not be long before another altcoin overtakes Ethereum. ETH does not look strong to remain the second player to bitcoin convincingly for years to come and this will not take long before it is exposed. Three years ago am sure no one believed BNB will ever be in the third position it got to before USDT chased it down to 4th position where it is presently. Yes I believe this will change.

I think the same as Maestro, Ethereum doesn't look strong to be second! Discussions here are pointing in other directions, at least for us who are long enough in crypto, there are better platforms! I think the world will find out about them soon, and like some of us here moved from Ethereum the same will do many others!
Crypto is still young, I think we will see many changes in the future! At least take a look at the top 10 list in the last 10 years, and except Bitcoin, in the first place, everything else is different!

The sole reason and purpose of buying Altcoins is for it to moon massively in the future and cash out, so many Altcoins had pumped and trended well in the past e.g BNB , Solana, Dot, AXS, Luna etc did exceedingly well, investors of those Altcoins must have earned huge profits infact some of those Altcoins will still pump massively in the nearest future a big plus for it hodlers, more of these Altcoins are still coming up though there are numerous altcoins in the market it's up to every new investors to dig deep and make some thorough research and invest in potential ones.

My reason for buying altcoins at the moment is that the price is very low, and the truth is that it is good to buy coins like solana, matic, because they are coins that can go up at any moment, of course depending on the behavior of BTC, however in I am currently buying these altcoins for the simple reason that I know that the NFT games of the metaverses will go to the Polygon network and to the Solana network, thanks to the low fees offered by these networks. When we see other reasons like being a fan of a currency or something like that for being enthusiastic, I respect and admire it a lot, but right now I look a lot at what the market numbers represent, and how much profitability it can offer in the long term with really strong currencies.

the main reason why i buy altcoins is for fiat/dollar profit. Another joy is that I can feel how it feels when I see significant movement in my portfolio in the form of Altcoins. I'm not lying that I really felt the sensation. when I invest in Altcoin A with capital = $500 only in a certain time I can earn $300. whereas if I invest in BTC with capital = $ 500 then it will take me a long time to make a profit with minimal capital.
Although I agree that BTC is more suitable for the long term and can also minimize the risk of loss in investment. I hold BTC only for long term, I don't care to invest in BTC until it drops around -50% of initial capital, I don't consider it a loss because my main goal in BTC is only for long term while my main goal in Altcoins is just for fun.

Just don't think about an altcoin will beat bitcoin. If it's possible, it will take forever for them to beat it. But if there's the sense of investing into alts, you should choose what you think is the best that you can see.
Some altcoins are just good to be avoided because they don't have concrete plans of developing it for the long term. And later, you're going to see those projects that are worth it because they're continuous in development.

But what is your reason for buying and holding these coins? What type of profits (fiat/btc/eth/other) are you hoping to achieve and have you already taken profits?

Do you genuinely believe any of your altcoins can genuinely surpass Bitcoin or Ethereum's market values in near future?
Usually what i see from buying coins is average USD profit. Because if must count in BTC, ETH and other coins, usually my coin will be back to fiat. And then if want to buy coin again i will start to fiat / USDT because nowadays there are a lot of coins which have pair with USDT not like in past which mostly in BTC or ETH.

I think, the principles we have in holding altcoins, are pretty much the same. well, logically, why should we hold altcoins if we are not sure that the coins we have will go to the moon, or become something popular?
well, the purpose of people buying altcoins, despite the benefits, it's very clear that people are targeting profit there, and hope the coins they hold on to the moon.

For something new and instant savings with altcoins, a fairly easy way to put some unused assets into altcoins is the right way.  We can reap this if we put it in the right market in order to get the accumulated profit.
Altcoin selection also needs to be considered because not all Altcoins can have the same potential and can have the same price movement in the market, so it's not just arbitrary in choosing it too, and for savings issues and the like, I think it's more to each individual's needs.

If you like Altcoins for a lack of money, then you immediately love Bitcoin, just because you don't have enough money to buy them right now. So there's no need to deny that here where you say Altcoins are much better than Bitcoin in terms of price movement.
You need to know that any Altcoin will not be able to pump much when Bitcoin starts to crash in the market, you can see the evidence for yourself in the market, both when Bitcoin is increasing and when Bitcoin is declining.

For all possible profits, it can be fiat, for conversion into bitcoin or ether, or any other cryptocurrencies that I think are valuable. After seeing the great bull run that made a lot of altcoins move up. I think that it's not that late to hold a few altcoins that I think will be growing that much when another bull run comes. Well, if it didn't go well that's just normal and fine to me. But if this bet goes in and becomes profitable, I'll convert it to fiat if I need some cash but mostly in bitcoin and a few in ETH.

Altcoins are only good for making money. But at the end of the day, they're simply "copies" of the original cryptocurrency (which is Bitcoin). Even smart contract platforms like Ethereum and BSC are based on Bitcoin's blockchain technology. There needs to be originality in order to beat the "Father of all Cryptocurrencies". Considering that most (if not all) altcoins depend on Bitcoin to survive, tells us that Bitcoin is what it's all about. We should take advantage when altcoins' prices pump to buy more Bitcoin (instead of selling BTC for alts).

I wouldn't advise anyone to sell for Fiat (unless you need the money right away) as it greatly defeats the whole purpose of crypto/Blockchain tech. Who knows how long altcoins will last? Just my thoughts ;D

Why are you confused? should be in a down market situation like now is the right time to buy (especially if stored for a longer time).
why don't you choose potential coins like ETH, BNB and MATIC ? This altcoin is very promising if stored for a long time because it is proven that the longer the price of this altcoin continues to increase.

A lot of lesser known altcoins have very few people participating in them and thus either has most people buying or most people selling. That is actually how you see those rapid crazy 100% gain and 100% loss charts: if everyone is buying...of course the price goes up.
Variations in buying coins are always in the market so that everyone who buys it always happens at different times and also on different coins so it is not easy to increase the price in the market because now the choice of coins is increasing and everyone is not buying at the same time.

Bitcoin is unique in some ways but alts can do something what bitcoin cannot do and there are things too that alts did what bitcoin already did and one of it is the percentage gains although some wont notice it easily because they are too focused on the high price of bitcoin.

It is up to you if you follow your own instincts because you think you are better than anyone else but there are people that they think they are not good enough so they seek for advices and often follow people that have an experience in this field. All of us want to earn decent and I do not think the person that recommends you an alt will deceive you and recommend you an altcoins that perform poorly unless if he is a scammer and he is only shilling his coins.

There is no denying that most of us buy altcoins to invest in order to make money or make a lot of money, also utilities are also part of the interest, but it is unlikely that the future will have many altcoins  go with bitcoin or bitcoin defi as i know SOV or TBdex like Jack Dorsey's concept - and i'm probably waiting for it as a next level altcoin.  But for now, I'm surprised and amused by the metaverse
However, there is no exception, must be strict because the ratio of altcoins is thousands of types, you have to choose the right flock of your chicks.  Dyor is a way to make money - I call it meaningful earning.  lol

For me the best option to buy coins is simple, if I know that everything will go in the direction of the metaverses, because the best coins and the fastest investment and I think it will be in the medium and long term are the metaverses, this can trigger projects of all kinds, even for NFT games, it also represents a great opportunity, because investing in a token from the metaverse and specifically in an NFT game that manages to be safe, I think it will be the best investment, however, everything represents a risk and depends on those who they want to assume.

Usually it's a certain number of reasons and then with enough luck the whole reason is valid for holding a lot of altcoins. I myself entered this market out of curiosity, but then seeing the many opportunities it brought me, I spent a lot of time learning the knowledge in the market, and now I feel quite comfortable with it everything.

The reason why I buy altcoins is simple - the probability that their value would multiply is higher compared to Bitcoin. Any altcoin can do x2 in a very short period of time under particular circumstances. But it is impossible for Bitcoin to double its value if someone announce something, or it gets listed on new exchange and etc. For example if tomorrow USA says that Bitcoin is now their one and only currency, its value wont jump to $+88k. But if they say that, for instance, USDCoin is now their only currency, its value would do x100 as a minimum. Ability to increase value multiple times and wide range of offers are the reasons I buy altcoins.

I used to buy bitcoin when it was cheap and the transactions were also a lot cheaper than what it is today. But now the price is a lot higher than ever before and the same goes to the transaction fees involved, so I shifted to other coin and tokens which are cheaper now but are speculated to rise exponentially in the future like the Metaverse tokens and the coins based on binance smart chain instead of buying tokens on Ethereum chain.

The reason of buying altcoins is simply means to make a profits after a short period of holding
We are all having the same reason and that's for the profit and the difference is just the period or how long we're going to hold it.

therefor everything that is involved with finance is know as business, buying alt-coin is a business that can brings profits or loose after a short, or long time returns investment.
Not everyone who goes for short term period goes into a loss and that's the same as long term and vice versa.

But if you've made a profit out of the best period that you can, never forget to look back with that experience because it'll eventually help you when you're looking for a reason why you should buy at lows.

Well for me the main reason why I keep on buying altcoins is because I know that if I diversify my portfolio with potential altcoins it can give me a very good amount of profit and I know that once that the market is in good condition all my altcoins will pump massively.

Honestly, we are all looking for real opportunities to change ourselves or our lives by seeking profits.  But always remember that it is only when bitcoin starts a bull run that altcoins stand a chance.  So don't miss a beat for diversified portfolio, always hold btc first
Some “wen moon” people always forget this important thing. :))

I still remember that "To the Moon" in 2017, and boy was it something that was starting to bother me. For me, the only reason for the altcois to start taking their bullish turn is that BTC rises in price and is put in a new ATH, which is something that we cannot rule out, but for now the market is a bit strange, with a lot of uncertainty In fact, the whales have tested price levels to see how the offer behaves, trying to push the price to $43-$45k, but we have seen that there are many bears, so it is somewhat difficult to eliminate the offer, since as long as there is a lot of supply, it will be difficult for btc to rise and, consequently, altcoins to rise.

It's been following the same trend in 2017 and after that year, the only difference is that no more ICO projects this time but shit coins still exist. I would not be surprise if the market turns bearish because after a major bull run, a major correction is also expected.

in fact, it will not exceed bitcoin. it's just, I know that we expect the altcoins we choose and hold on to will have very high prices in the future.
after all, our purpose in buying altcoins is largely because of their potential and their huge profits. Very few people buy altcoins with the intention of using the main function of the coin. Anyway, personally, I own an altcoin and hope the price will go up.
It's the hope for most altcoins.

People are buying altcoins because they could move more than bitcoin. And that's the reason why many are into it. I have bitcoin and I have altcoins too.

I'm just balancing my portfolio and I know that bitcoin is much powerful in the market as it moves everything up and down. As you buy altcoins, make sure that you also buy bitcoin.

Metaverse projects can make a difference in future, many think otherwise, but i am always thought positive about them. Being involved in the early stages of a game project that has the potential to affect the industry. Companies are investing billions of dollars in metaverse and blockchain gaming projects, implying that the decentralized gaming sector will expand this year. I heard, and decided to follow ENGN concepts since they create the game around blockchain functions; the game can now be built using traditional gaming mechanics, and ENGN can be applied to bridge the gap in the game.

Of course. Altcoins are very useful for moving money across chains at a fraction of the cost. You can simply convert Bitcoin to altcoins or vice versa for peace of mind. Considering that altcoins are much more volatile than Bitcoin itself, they're a great way to make profit within a short amount of time (if you play your cards right). I'd "stick" with tried-and-tested altcoins that are not driven by hype but the number of use cases (mainstream adoption/demand) they provide. If you choose the right altcoins, you'll be able to use the profit to buy more Bitcoin. I'm pretty sure most people buy altcoins for profit.

Ultimately, it's all about Bitcoin. As long as you have Bitcoin in your portfolio, nothing else matters. Just my opinion :)

Just earn profit only my reason why have to buy altcoin, but many time loss not profit only but also all my fund for capital to buy altcoin have drop price, but this risk when investing with cryptocurrency and almost investment have two side profit and loss. If not looks ready with loss better put money on the bank only or saving under your billow. I think buy altcoin have easy earn much profit than bitcoin still waiting on bitcoin condition but altcoin can reach higher price than bitcoin. But when bitcoin starts with bad condition choose altcoin have big risk can drop twice than bitcoin price and loss above 50% will show on our eyes.

The reason I buy altcoins is because I hope to get big profits like the success story of the buyer who bought $120 Shiba Inu 15 months ago and now he is earning hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit, of course the opportunity for big profits from cryptocurrencies can still happen because there are many projects that look promising like Metaverse which is now trending in various media.
Most of us buy altcoins or even shitcoins for the sole purpose of making a high profit, although they also come with high risks. Apart from metaverse projects, web3.0, defi2.0 projects, especially MetaFi (a new trending concept introduced by binance recently). I think they will thrive the next time. This is an upcoming trend that will help cash flow into the market, boosting the market's recovery.

My major reason for buying altcoin is to earn from the anticipated increase in value and the altcoin. I'm personally in the cryptocurrency space to earn and all my strategies are focused in this light. I believe that the early adopters of a project has the privilege of buying at a lesser value and as more persons are coming to the project, the value keeps increasing.

Just my thoughts Grin

I have more in ETH in my wallet then BTC. I believe ETH will reach $6,000 in the next 3-6 months, as he recovers from the January flash crash, but we can see that the price is growing, therefore I try to retain every token that generates ETH. The cryptocurrency market is nearing the end of a four-year pricing cycle. I'm keeping on to ReFi because of their rewards, and I'm optimistic about the ETH price right now. Altcoins still hold a lot of my faith. Although Altcoins did not perform as well as expected last year, investors continue to flock to NFTs and the Metaverse. We'll have to see how cryptocurrencies do this year, but I've noticed a lot of interest in the Metaverse. I'm investing in certain gamefi companies like ENGN and Aragon, and they have a good business model.

Lately I meet a group of friends who told me the invest in altcoin to make profit so they can increase their Bitcoin holdings. And at some a valid reason with them. They said their strategy was quite simple since the couldn't vouche for any altcoin they kept their profits minimal and avoid projects that has had massive profits already so the get the early profit from new projects take the profit off and invest in Bitcoin.

My vote is to go to the moon. Look, I believe that bitcoin is the world's best coin, but our problem is its price. Let me explain. First of all, we are not that rich to buy a whole bitcoin. I buy $100 worth of bitcoin at a price of $38K. If the price goes up to $76K, my amount will be $200 and I will get $1K when the bitcoin price reaches $380K. For a low-class investor to get 10–50x profit from bitcoin is really tough. That is why we invest a lot in altcoins and we invest in bitcoin too. Because altcoin is undervalued, we can obtain a large quantity for a small sum of money. easy to get 10 to 100x. That is my opinion; others might be different. Thank you.

I vote for fiat/dollar profits because the majority of exchange volumes are now extremely vulnerable to corrections, and alt-coin fundamentals are becoming increasingly important. For example, When news broke that the Russian central bank sought to ban bitcoin, for example, crypto was still sideways and going up when the news broke, but the next day it smashed down hard.

There are a lot of new altcoins that appear every day, but a lot depends on how useful is the altcoin and how people will use it in the future.
That is why it is very important to evaluate the future potential of altcoin before investing not to lose money on the investment.

Some altcoins will allow earning much profit. But not all altcoins will be able to survive during the fall of the market.
Only the best altcoins that are really useful for people will be able to survive.
Also, a lot depends on how long will be a fall in the market.

Now cryptocurrency market rise and a lot of investors will have opportunity to earn money on investment in cryptocurrency.
A lot of new projects will appear and investors will have a big choice of different projects.
It is very important to check everything to evaluate the prospects of the project.

The main reason to buy altcoin is its price growth.
People buy altcoin to earn money on the price growth.
But it is necessary to create demand in an altcoin. The more demand the higher price of an altcoin.

A lot of people invest in altcoins because their ROI is sometimes higher than Bitcoin itself but many of them don't aware of their risk tho. Well, it's acceptable if Altcoins we invest in are top altcoins but if we invest in new altcoins we should be careful from choosing them because many of them will end scam and don't forget that we should use our money that we can afford to lose.

In addition to investing because of ROI, it should be underlined that ordinary people also tend to think investing in cryptocurrencies can result in a redistribution of wealth in no time. so it's not surprising if someone who comes to the world of cryptocurrency often experiences losses because they only see it from one side and without thinking about the risks that will be accepted. Regardless,I always recommend using "beginner" cold money before investing in altcoins and don't forget to research the project further.

the reason I buy altcoins is to get fiat profits and why in altcoins because if I invest in bitcoin my capital is only a little for bitcoins which are too expensive so I choose altcoins that are still cheap and I think with a low price I will get a big profit.

One of the things by which you can make profits is with altcoins, because if you look at it, right now if the war develops completely it is difficult for it to rise in price, in fact it is very likely that BTC will fall even more , but the moment the market recovers, or the BTC recovers and is on an upward trend, that is when the benefits of altcoins will be seen. As you think, it is the best, but you have to have the stomach to resist as long as it takes until BTC rises in price. Here you have to have an investor-style thinking, not extract the money from the investment until you see benefits, you can apply the principles that Warren Buffet teaches in his books, which are fully applicable to the crypto market.

The main reason why we invest in cryptocurrencies is to earn as much as possible on it.
I invest in new and cheap altcoins with the hope that in a few years, or maybe even in a few months, their price will shoot to the moon and thanks to this I will earn on Lambo.  ;D

~snip~

One decision and reason only about investing or buying altcoin is ROI or how possible to get much profit every trading altcoin time, but some time have trader or investor not really smart how to earn profit because panic time buy several altcoin on the top price and make them keep as an long term holder. I think need most good technical way how to be smart trader and keep consistent with getting ROI or profit every time buying altcoin.

That is why people prefer to buy altcoins to have maximum profit.
But many things depends on how useful altcoin is. For example appear altcoins that help to save money during shipping, trip or vocation https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=102517842352379&id=101007292503434

I have seen the roadmap of FUN token and it promises a lot and so it did since April last year but the price of such altcoin is just 0.01 Cent and its all time was 0.19 Cent. They have implemented a Dplay casino, you can use FUN also to buy or pay for trips through some website I forgot the name now, also many other plans they say that are in place for 2022 yet the price is not moving at all. What I want to say is that even having strong fundamentals backing it up not always is converted to a higher price for such altcoin.

Only reason for altcoin holding is make much profit than fiat holding. Altcoin grow very soon with their usecases and also polpularity. There is so many altcoins which made 1000x in just few days if you think politely about your future then you also know about the main reason in altcoin investment! Also now a days buying bitcoin is too much costly for a new small investor altcoin is perfect on that also

I voted for Fiat currencies, my reason is the volatility. I'm afraid to lose so much if the token becomes less valuable. unlike fiat currencies that is stable

Here we should talk about chances because Bitcoin price was on the bull run in the first quarter. I don't find any reason to buy Bitcoin. So the big chances or percentage goes for flat currency or stable coins. In a simple or historical way, Bitcoin won't cross the last ATH. Almost 1 year has passed since Bitcoin's price is stuck in one place where we can make some profit from Bitcoin, but profit expectations must be low.

Alt coins brings you more profits than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is more like a stable coin, its pumping rate is slow compare to those alt coins which makes 100x in a day. They don't even wait for a year before running to 1000x as the case may be. Investing in Bitcoin is not risky because of it's large market cap and trading volume. Many alt coins pump and dump. Not all alt coins are listed on Top exchanges like binance. I would urge you to start the crypto space with alt coins, their gains are massive.

Investments in altcoins more profitable then investment in Bitcoin, but they are more risky too.
It is very important to check everything before investing to evaluate the future potential of the coin.
Not all the coins will be able to survive during the fall of the market.

It is very important to evaluate the potential of altcoins not to lose money on investments.
Now all altcoins will be able to bring profit.

No one has ever mentions such simple reason as availability. It is easier to buy altcoins than Bitcoin. Alts are cheaper. Blockchains that they are created on charges lower fees than Bitcoin and are quicker. With altcoins, you can buy an alt on dex that is worth 1 satoshi and get it for free (if you get crypto for transaction from faucet). With bitcoin you can buy 1 satoshi, but you will pay exchange trading and withdrawal fee.

I feel like Buying BTC and ETH feels much safer to most of us due to the impossibility of them disappearing over night but as for many alt coins like they can easily go 90% over a small course of time but it works both ways and if you DYOR you might stumble upon a hidden gem that has a high risk and high reward scenario that's worth risking. Even tho i mostly hold only BTC and ETH i got 25% of my portfolio spread between 2 Gaming/metaverse coins $ENGN and $Lunafi both play big role in the future of Metaverse/Gaming. Any thoughts about them?

A lot of depends how useful is altcoin and does it have any practical use.
Now many people have cryptocurrency and they want to spend their cryptocurrency for trips, vocations and for shoping and to receive different discounts in cryptocurrency.
unfortunately very rare we met those utility in our real life. so far i am only know StormX which i could use for having trip, paying bill on online marketplace. most of utility from crypto project used in cryptocurrency market ecosystem only and few of them could to pay our daily needs bill.

It is very important to evaluate the potential of altcoins not to lose money on investments.
Now all altcoins will be able to bring profit.
Not all altcoins will be able to survive during the fall of the market.

only altcoin with real utility in crypto ecosystem will survive for long time no matter what market condition.

I bought bitcoin with the excuse of waiting for the altcoin to go to the moon. and this has really given me a big advantage. and i have enjoyed it with dogecoin, although dogecoin is considered a coin meme but for me dogecoin is an amazing altcoin and able to go to the moon. and for the next altcoin I'm looking forward to is Solona because I'm sure solona will go to the moon although not in the near future.

I think most people who are into altcoins do basically the same thing as you do. They usually "play" with alts to get more Bitcoin in return. After all, there's a wide array of coins with attractive rewards that can't be beat. "De-Fi" and PoS is where the money is, so buying and "hodling" altcoins in the long run will leave you with plenty of BTC in your wallet.

Considering that 90% of altcoins are pure speculation, it's easy to make money with any altcoin than Bitcoin itself. Look at how DOGE went from being worth nothing to something since the start of 2021. Ultimately, a very small number of altcoins will survive while the rest will go all the way down the drain. As long as you don't invest more than what you can't afford to lose, you'll have nothing to worry about. Just my opinion :)

I already have a few investments to go to the moon. In fact, the best thing in the long run is to look at the satoshi earnings and hodl btc with most of the earnings. I have to go to the moon first :)

obviously because altcoins have a lot of value variations available and can be adjusted to the funds we have, which is impossible for us to do with bitcoin. holding an altcoin can someday increase it by converting it into bitcoin, so it will become more valuable.
although it may not be easy to find an altcoin that can provide huge profits if it is not an altcoin that is indeed in the best ranking position in CMC.
because to look for altcoins in new projects, although very profitable but indeed also with no small risk that can happen SCAM, so it must remain wise in applying to buy altcoins.

Well, maybe most of us are like that, especially when it comes to new altcoins. however, the main goal is to multiply the main assets. New altcoins are used to support our main coin, because sometimes new altcoins have a high price increase potential, but if the project is not so good, the price will decrease over time. it's the same as the coin I've been holding up until now. initially this coin went up to $60, and it made me think it could go as high as $100. however, the quality is getting worse and worse, and I'm stuck at $1 to $2. well, it hurts, but because of that, I also feel that buying new altcoins sometimes we use to back up the main asset.

It really depends on what altcoin you are holding, the amount of token you have, and the price on the market. Holding altcoins is like keeping a gem bucket, the longer duration you are holding the more the price is increasing just like DOGE it jumps much higher after it got a tweeted by Elon muck and trend on market.

This bear market needs to be taken advantage of, and we never know if the altcoin you are doubt to buy has potential in the future. You really just need to check first if the altcoin you are buying is not just a pump and dump scheme, but also the supply and marketcap.

We know that the most suitable investment in cryptocurrency is Bitcoin investment. Investing bitcoin reduces the risk, and the whole cryptocurrency depends on BTC. However, knowing this, why we are investing in altcoins? The main reason is that many of us can not afford to buy Bitcoin as much as we want. Ultimately we have to choose altcoins to get more by investing a little.

I think one of the main reasons why we people buy altcoins is that majority of altcoins are still cheap and at their early stages. And there are higher chances of getting a large amount of profit after a few months or years if the project is really good. And also, we have to accept that some altcoins are also providing solutions to real-world problems that can be very beneficial to us humans. That is why altcoins are not just coins that are in the market, they are here bringing in value just like bitcoin. So who would not invest in altcoins as well? I actually love altcoin because a lot of them have the potential to bring value to the world and not just by the profit I can make by investing in them.

It's simple really. Large caps may be safer investments because they are more widely adopted but the industry as a whole is new, so it's completely possible that BTC and ETH are no longer in the top 10 a decade from now. Take a look at the dot com boom. Some websites like pets.com are no longer around, some are, like Amazon. You can make more by investing in the next amazon right now than by investing in a top 10 project, although the risk is higher. This is one reason why I invest in new L1 chains, like $CNDL and $HBAR. Candle Chain specifically is designed to host metaverse DApps. Hedera is partnered with several of the world's largest banking and tech companies, so that has a bright future as well.

Since most of the people believe that buying shit coins at low value in large numbers will help you to earn greater profits if there is major value fluctuations.
However these coin might not survive in long run and investing in these coin in nothing more than a gamble

Many altcoins grow in price even more that Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is overvalued that is why many people are looking for new and prospective for investment projects to invest in them on pre-sale stage.

Now all markets falls and it is possible to buy new and prospective altcoins for the best price.
But the most important is to find this prospective altcoins and evaluate their potential.

Yes. Many people buy altcoins with the purpose of enriching themselves in the least time possible. But not all that glitters is Gold. With what happened with LUNA lately, I'd be careful putting all of my life savings on altcoins. Only a select few altcoins like ETH and BNB are worth it because of their proven track record of development and innovation. But the rest would be a gamble due to their extremely unpredictable nature.

Bitcoin is the main mover of the market, so if it goes up, so will the rest of the other cryptocurrencies on the market. Diversifying your investment into more than one cryptocurrency will help you minimize as much risks as possible. As long as you play your cards right, you'd be on a road towards non-stop financial success. Just my opinion :)

hm, I think it's the opposite of the movement of bitcoin that really makes the market of alt fall apart, it depends on the movement of bitcoin itself. when they move well enough then maybe they can put a large enough altcoin to provide profits but on the other hand when bitcoin is corrected it will make altcoins go crazy and fire.
this is a natural thing considering bitcoin can be said to be the core there because indeed if we make an analogy in the caste system then bitcoin is the king now

I bought an altcoin and invested in it of course because I wanted a quick profit, that is my dollar could double. and I don't like long term investments in altcoins. I only trade short and medium term. buy when the upside potential appears. and selling at the height of the hype. because for long term investment i choose bitcoin which i trust.
The reason I can't hold long-term the altcoins I hold is because of past experiences. and even now I see a new lesson from the tragedy of terra luna.

Most of us buy altcoins because we expect to get big returns from investing in altcoins. Bitcoin is a safe and risk-reducing investment, but because bitcoin has increased in value thousands of times, many people think that investing in bitcoin will not be able to bring big returns, so many new investors chose altcoins over bitcoin.

Besides, we also need to diversify our investment portfolio, bitcoin is suitable for long-term holding and altcoin is more suitable for short-term profit.

But what is your reason for buying and holding these coins? What type of profits (fiat/btc/eth/other) are you hoping to achieve and have you already taken profits?

Do you genuinely believe any of your altcoins can genuinely surpass Bitcoin or Ethereum's market values in near future?
Buying and holding it means that the coin is indeed a lot of interest, but to hold it means we see the potential of the project is very worth holding on to because it will generate far more profit than what is invested normally will hold it in the long term.

I don't believe that it will happen in the near future, the proof is that currently bitcoin is still no. 1 and is still the price mecca for all coins, but in the long run it may happen as technology advances will create amazing coins.

In principle, I agree with you that almost all altcoins are shitcoins. But if you have patience, you can make money from them. I think bitcoin has much less growth potential than for example DOT or LTC. The bitcoin train left those who wanted to make big profits. But there are other ways left in this wild casino. If you are lucky, you will get good profits.

Yes, it's true that altcoins always follow bitcoin. then you are right that it is safer to invest in bitcoin. but there are so many reasons why people buy altcoins. like myself who expect bigger profits from altcoins. namely in short-term trading (scalping). because I feel that altcoins are more suitable for short and medium-term trading because of higher fluctuations so it is easy to profit from scalping results and for the long term bitcoin should be the choice because it has minimal risk and has undoubted potential.

At the moment I'm not buying alts, but I think the main reason to do so is because altcoins have lost a lot of value and it's a good time to buy them very cheaply and that's almost praying that BTC doesn't fall anymore, quite the opposite that goes up to generate a good 2x, 3x or more, this to recover investment and later change everything to BTC to continue earning more money, but of course as I said before, it is risky and represents putting a lot in danger, it is already the decision of each person to do it or not, although I would expect a little more due to the fundamentals that are currently happening.

Even though now the price of Bitcoin has started to look up by about 6% compared to a week ago, the movement of altcoins still doesn't look up.
This means that as you said there is still an opportunity for us to buy altcoins at low prices, but because we are still in a bear market,
it is safest to buy top altcoins. Because usually the top altcoins can always recover, even though the price has fallen very drastically right now.
That's because the top altcoins have a high enough demand, so the risk is lower than investing in new projects. Regarding your choice of only
choosing to invest in ETH and BNB it is very understandable, because only ETH and BNB are the best compared to other top altcoins. And I made

ETH and BNB is really a good choice but there are lot of altcoins that have the potential to increase their value in the future and much cheaper. As of the market cycle today, it is not the right time to buy now which I think we will be in bear market and the best thing to do now is to wait until the value of other altcoins are in dipped and take advantage of the market.

Based on this year's price movements, this is the moment where ethereum and bnb experience the deepest decline of 2022.I am optimistic that this will end and soon there will be a full increase. If there is a correction it may not be far from the current price. I'm waiting for a slight dip to put my funds in, and I'd be a little more hopeful on the binance coin because based on the potential it's more likely

It's just my belief, I don't expect anyone to follow it

Cryptocurrency market continue to fall and it is hard to say when it will restore because the economic situation in the world is very difficult and are not becoming better.

A safe choice to buy ETH and BNB, but the risk of the price going down even more will be very large, seeing Bitcoin is unstable and tends to be in a bearish state. The top altcoins do have the highest demand and many are starting to come in and wait for prices to get lower. Choosing what altcoin you want to invest in is a personal decision and must be prepared with risks. need to do some research first.
For now I am still very happy to hold ETH, BNB and Bitcoin of course because from what I have seen and researched in the past, these three coins always have the potential to recover in the market even though under current conditions the price decline in the market for all three is still it is very possible to happen and never worry about it because the three coins I mentioned are always better than the others.
Looking at the current market conditions it seems to me what you have done by deciding to hold Ethereum, Bitcoin, and BNB is the right thing,
we know that these three are top coins and without a doubt,
to hold long term I think it will be profitable and of course while waiting for the market to recover

NTFs are getting very popular among artists. On twitter I have seen so many spaces about NFTS that I started learning about NFTs.
Many member claim that the hype of NFT is overrated. But many artists are very happy because they have been selling their ugly pieces worth thousands, So I started learning about NFTs

Because its growth is stable. But you will get profit after a couple of years. You’d better invest in alcoins.
Almost all altcoins started a bull run after bitcoin reached 10000$, but both ripple and litecoin didn’t(for a long time), there was a good chance it should explode as most of the alcoins are positively correlated.

The market will certainly recover. Just need to wait and add assets to the three coins, currently the price is very cheap, you will regret it if you don't buy and hold it.
We just need to wait for Bitcoin to be stable and bullish, if bitcoin is still bearish we have to prepare reserve funds to buy again at lower prices.
The bullish cycle will still happen, I believe it. Stay strong mentally.

Alt coins will stand out one day to compete with Bitcoin and Ethereum. It's all  just a matter of time. Bitcoin is the top coin and first digital currency and it will always remain at the  top because their is a very tight and strong blockchain behind it Alt coins will boost your portfolio within weeks only if one is patient. One of the major reasons why I keep on bagging more alt coins is for future purposes. Perhaps one can still trade and earn profits daily.

Well what you do is very smart, although for me the reason for buying altcoin is that I know there is a good uptrend coming for BTC, and the biggest of all reasons is that if with altcoins I can achieve 2x, 3x could change it. fast to acquire BTC, I am not one of those who stick to an altcoin, because what happened to LUNA can happen to it, that is something very annoying having to lose money for not making the sale movement before the whole crash, without However, I believe that since the currency had good intentions to rise, it would do so at that precise moment, something like what happened in 2017 since October it was seen that the BTC was going to rise in price.

It's rare to see someone happy by just holding coins only but hodling supposed to be boring especially now that the market seem to remain like this for a very long time and as we can see most people are just complaining if when will the market return to normal so that they can start selling and finally earn something with their investment.

The best reason that I know to be happy hodling is when everyone have done selling and the price doesn't seem to stop increasing. That is something that you must be proud of because you reached that state. It shows that you have a control and doesn't get greedy by seeing the money in front of you.

There is no need to worry about that, because the fortune has already been arranged, although everyone must always try as hard as possible to earn money so that they can live comfortably. But believe me that each of us does not need to be too anxious in dealing with such things because you will not starve to death as long as you are willing and able to try to earn money through work.

Yes, the fact that the cryptocurrency industry is such a huge place for investment today, coupled with the presence of influential people in the world in the cryptocurrency industry, has made cryptocurrencies increasingly known to the world and attracted the attention of many people. The new thing I discovered after some influential people entered the crypto industry, the market is being played, right? for example Elon Musk. Doge and Shiba have no real world utility though, they are dog coins. People chased pets.com too, and if you look at the history books, you will see that that crashed and burned too. Dog coins are one of the reasons why regulators can't wait to clamp down on crypto, because it looks like a ponzi/greater fool theory tulip market. Stop treating crypto like a casino and invest in real projects with utility, like IOTA, XLM, and CNDL.

For the most part I'd say that 99.999% of the people buying altcoins is merely greed/profits.  Trying to trade for more Satoshi would be my vote, or even their local fiat.  Alts are a gble and gambling is merely to get more money than you started with, quickly.  Sad because most people only end up losing because they don't understand how quick crypto markets change and how bad they get annihilated.

Altcoins are more easier to make more money from, because the rate at which they move is far different from bitcoin, just like today, ftm had done 102% just in a day, its totally impossible for bitcoin to do 50% not to mention 100% just in a single day, by buying altcoin it's a win win situation that's why lots of people tends to go for altcoins

Everyone who invests in alcoin their goal is the same to take profit in the future especially now that the price of the coin is all down again this is a very good opportunity for big alcoin investments like ethereum coin.

Not only with altcoins but also with bitcoins are profits, man. If bitcoin didn't make a profit then bitcoin wouldn't be as popular as it is today. Newbies like altcoins because they think bitcoin is too big and can't give them maximum profit, so they look to altcoins, altcoins that are new and not growing much will have a higher chance of being pumped. We enter the market, the end goal is profit and altcoins are a place for the sharks to pump and dump easier.

Well, it's true a lot of new people who just coming to the crypto world are looking for a big chance to get more and more profit, since altcoins prices are low and have the potential to give the investor big ROI like 5x-10x in a year or even few months so no wonder most people choose altcoins, meanwhile when we are looking for the profit we're not guaranteed to get that profit and there's always a scam project in altcoins unlike Bitcoin, so they should ready for that risk.

But what is your reason for buying and holding these coins? What type of profits (fiat/btc/eth/other) are you hoping to achieve and have you already taken profits?

Do you genuinely believe any of your altcoins can genuinely surpass Bitcoin or Ethereum's market values in near future?
Believe it or not Altcoins have made poor people rich, with a capital of $ 100 can generate $ millions, it happened to the doge.

The reason I bought Altcoins, I really hope to get to the moon, I'm not a big investor who has to buy Bitcoin like Elon, I'm a small investment so I tend to focus more on Altcoins hoping for two or three years to get to the moon.

If we look at present many altcoins is in dip position. There is big chances to give good profits if we take entry at right time. Coins like xrp, sxp at good price now. Many traders makes mistakes to take entry when price is on high side so taking entry now might gives us relaxing time in crypto. It may also can be a more dip so take entry with small funds, When market get more dip position then another entry will be more helpful.

Many coin are created base on the list case and Alt-coin can be easily pump base on the team and how legit the project, Secondly the entry points matter a lots, which many people missed it, when bitcoin was $65 some years back, which bitcoin all time high was 68k plus, which some alt-coin can also make equivalent movement as return investment and that is reason most people buy alt-coins. Therefore, Bitcoin can be compare with alt-coin because many altcoin has run bull, but bitcoin still be number one in the cryptocurrency industries.

For profit, well their is one thing which i think every altcoin holder should follow is that never hold any alt coin, never, whenever you are making profit, you should take profit and exit your trade, entry does not matter that much but exit do matter here, i almost lost 250$, which are not that much, and this loss is only due to holding, the one i loss in spot trading and future trading is other than this. But still i am buying alts as it make me more money than btc, but some times i lost money than btc too.

What's the real reason for making any investment? I invest in projects like CNDL and Celo because I want to make money and I believe that those projects are going to do really well. It's the same reason why I would invest in a stock for example, only that you aren't investing in a company, you are investing in a protocol that may become adopted as the defacto Web3 standard, just like how certain internet protocols were decades ago.

I am no different from you as well, i think the reason why we investing in altcoins is to make money and get profit.
Most of people in crypto are want to make money from it, so that is the reason.
Now we know the crypto market is crashing, maybe it is the best chance to buying some good altcoins.

I bought altcoins because of their low price compared to Bitcoin and my alternative is to be able to generate some capital by trading on altcoins and we can use that capital to buy Bitcoins because investing in Bitcoin is the safest investment tool.

If you already know that investing in Bitcoin is the safest investment tool, why do you start buying altcoins first instead of Bitcoin? even though if you directly buy Bitcoin without having to go through altcoins, then that will also be more beautiful. And for the problem of cheap or high prices, I don't think that's a reason for this because you can buy Bitcoin in a quarter or an eighth size if you can't afford to buy in one unit.

If the investment is low likely below ~1K USD then it is wise to do trading on a coin whose market price is below 1$. By doing this you can make a decent amount of profit.

Trading with such a lower amount is not welcome to Bitcoin. You might lose your investment by giving trading fees while trading multiple times.

Yes, I get your point that bitcoin is the safest place, that's why I didn't suggest anyone invest in altcoin if the investment amount is high or if they plan for hoidling long term.

This community is not only for Bitcoiners, we should also keep altcoiners alive and treat them properly.

I'm not into just buying altcoins because of the hype
I'm looking for the future technology, perspective projects
And Point Network is giving me a confidence in web 3 future
https://pointnetwork.io/
That is good because buying of a altcoins can make us fortunate and give us good returns like ×10 to × 100 depending on the project type and the team behind it. There are some coins in the market that has good move but the current bear market is making then look weak. I am looking to buy more altcoins before the bull market comes here.

Investing in altcoins is about making more money and making a profit. Many people do not like long term investments.  So Altcoin is the best for short term investment. The crypto market is crashing,is probably the best opportunity to buy some good altcoins, because altcoins pump up in a very short time.We should follow is that altcoin should not be hold for long time.  Investing in Bitcoin is the safest but it will apply to long term investments.I think they should visit their sites well when buying Altacoin. And how their supply and how their social media is active should be well verified. The higher the risk, the higher the profit. You should not invest too much in buying Altcoin. One thing I noticed is that Metaverse and NFT offer very good profits compared to Bitcoin.

If the altcoin is not a good quality then yes it is not recommended to hodl it for a long time but for a top altcoin, it is completely safe. Btc is known to be a long term investment but it's also possible to make it a short term investment since situations like this can occur where the price can rise a little and then it goes down again and stay there.

High risk-high reward, is true and investing in one coin is considered to be more riskier than diversifying your funds but as long you allocate more money on that one coin because if you put less money, the risk will still become less. Nft and metaverse projects can provide you a better profit in short term compared to bitcoin but that is if you are lucky, to get in and out early.

i dont think bitcoin as safest investment portofolio , in cryptomarket we see high risk no matter that major cap or mid cap. as we know manipulation happen in crypto market that did by whales, they want shake market in ordet get cheap price for each coins. as long as we buy in correct price level for long term bitcoin was good assets. at current price maybe we could start buy partially in some altcoin.

It is no secret to anyone that buying high-value tokens or coins is buying a lot and then expecting a good jump, at least 3x or 4x to get a very respectable profit, however we cannot say when BTC will enter a bullish trend, for me at any time it can enter, the volatility of BTC is impressive, but we cannot predict exactly when an altcoin season may occur, I know that many have been waiting for it since 2017-2018, but every time I see further, etnonces for me what is sought in the purchase of tokens is that, wait for them to rise to sell.

The reason why we all buy altcoins is to make profits and buy more to make more profits. We buy when the price of coins are down and we sell when the prices of coins are up. Nobody wants to sell with loses but must time impatience and demand with make us to sell our holdings with loses. I am still looking at buying more altcoins now so I can sell when the market goes up.

Buying altcoins of course expecting this high jump will be very different from bitcoin but altcoins fly faster but on the contrary when it goes down it will get even worse, it can't be avoided.
I know how last year's altcoin season that reached ATH with very far multiples only happened once but we will wait longer to wait for the trend again, I think anyone would expect the altcoin season to arrive with its bullish trend.
Predicting btc now is a little more difficult than bullish but I believe all will test the uptrend season again.

Of course, to return to the fort market, we have to wait quite a while. we've just been caught in a bear market there's a good chance this will last for quite a while. but we believe in the future the market will again show the potential of strong pumps.
currently, all we can do is take advantage of the market situation for trading. altcoins have better moves for trading. and save some potential altcoins for future pumps.
this will require patience in waiting for an uptrend in the market. everyone should be careful with their decisions in today's market conditions.

the reason for buying Altcoins is of course because Altcoin prices are cheaper than Bitcoin prices,
and Altcoins are easier to Pump than Bitcoin, this is why Altcoins are better to invest there,
I have invested in Ethereum, ADA, Matic and these three coins really give better profit than Bitcoin

My main reason for trading cryptocurrencies on altcoins because I want to find some profit to give me more income. so my goal is to FIAT. so after i bought some altcoins at a price that i think is low and sell it if the altcoin price is high. although not all altcoins that I have bought can provide short-term profits so I have to hold them until the price goes up and I have made some profit from it. because I am an instance trader and not a long term investment.

Altcoins are best to buy the when dipping, they have made so many traders to be financially stable with their capital. Altcoins is one of the reasons why the space is interesting and fully set for investment. Altcoins have also made me believe that I can make 100x of my capital only if I invested with the right gem coin. Altcoins Profits are far way better than Bitcoin and Ethereum, because there are countless number of them and they pump massively.

Altcoins are good for trading and making profits.  Ether and LTC are my favourites for obvious reasons. They have the potential to rise like BTC in the long run.
