This is an awesome thread good idea gweedo...  I hope you get the album and set it free on the interwebs for all to enjoy(epic idea).  I'm just reading about this so +1 to you for starting the thread.

It's a very interesting and unique concept, but the album will leak in some way. They should maybe just auction off the physical album as a one off and see how much they get.

I agree with you 100 percent I mean once they sell it it's the property of the buyer.  If he decides to lend it to another person and the burn a copy and on and on then what can really be done?

He could buy the album and then sell or share for free a digital or burnt copy to someone. It's still all great publicity for Wu Tang. It says they have a "proper" album release of another album coming out as well. Something tells me neither will be masterpieces though.

heh yea I guess this will be one of those situation where the beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.  All I know is The word masterpiece exemplifies excellence and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the album will almost surely fall short of that.  I do hope it will be a game changer but we shall see.

Found it (after some digging), it's not that they're barely on the project it's that they haven't really been showing much interest in it (which will most likely lead to them barely being on the project).

to each it own I guess :( I hate hip hop and rap, I do appreciate the craftsmanship on that box. This might be a good investment, you can buy the album and save it for a couple of years and sell it for a great value.

But tbh I believe that for the amount of money it will cost, if would more profitable to make those case make you an album than buy something like this

Sounds interesting. Some millionaire will buy it. Highly doubt this is going to change the way music is distributed in any way though.

I genuinely didn't know who they are till op thread, for several reasons I guess, I'm no American and I don't like hip hop.
While my initial response looks like a troll one it is not,  I really do appreciate the craftsmanship on that box more than what inside (if it is just some hip hop or rap songs (except for tupac I guess)

Meanwhile... dank has defied gravity and is capable of triggering an ascension of human consciousness into a higher dimension, a dimension where everyone can hear this album, where everyone can have everything, where everyone can feel infinite peace.

No I'm not really, and in terms of music while I don't like hip hop and rap, I still listen to some and there are a few rap song a like (well I can count them with the fingers of one hand tho) I guess for someone into rap it's a reference and I understood that from the moment I saw the thread, but I can tell you that it's not only me that don't know about them, I've asked around some of my friends today and none of them know who Wu are and they all thought it was some Chinese movie actor or star and not a group

I did and trust me most of my friends and colleges are in the 20-35 age range which basically the main audience of the Wu-tang since they started in 1992 which is surprising, but rap and hip hop aren't really popular here in western europe or at least not as popular as in the NA

I dont think you have to worry about that. As the article mentions you will have rights with buying the album. So for the sake of fans, this needs to be crowdfunded. Imagine some rich person buying this for a collection of rare stuff and noone will ever hear it. It would be very sad.
