I messaged them for clarification They responded as follows... The hologram has been applied over the private key and the coin has been delivered to Astrobotic for testing and payload integration. We've not introduced any public photos or renders of this yet but will be doing so in the coming weeks. I assume it depends on various factors such as coin metal(s) composition, encapsulation (plastic?), private key etched of paper printed etc. + on the total time that coin will remain on the surface. I hope the coins they offer are denominated smaller than 1 BTC because I'd like to own one but I'm not sure locking more of my BTC into a collectible I'll never sell or peel is a good idea... The thought of some "enterprising" person going to the moon to find 1 BTC is pretty cool. Who knows, maybe someday Bitcoin will become so valuable that it actually helps pay for the cost of the trip to the moon. :D |
