Title: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems Post by: avalonmin3r on January 06, 2022, 04:40:59 PM my hashrate is low and the miner has been known to reset or drop from the pool. it hashes about half. I think one of the boards is down if I am reading, specifcally the V1 parameter.
can i remove the bad hashboard and keep chuggging away on this machine with only 1 of its 2 boards? Thank you in advance and thank you ebay for the shoddy machines [Firmware Version] => Avalon Firmware - 20170603 luci: ffc1d59 cgminer: 2354004 cgminer-packages: d309c69 Reply was log, problems Post by: HagssFIN on January 06, 2022, 04:42:51 PM Start by looking at those ECHU error codes,
you have 16 for first hash board and 128 for the last hash board. The meanings are in my troubleshooting guide, find the link in my signature space. It seems that the last board is moaning about 'Too hot' -state. Maybe there is a bad thermal contact between hash board and heatsink? You could try to remove the heatsink, clean the old paste with isopropyl alcohol, and use good quality cpu thermal paste to install the heatsink back again. Btw, why are your Vi values (voltage input) so low? Is your power supply capable of giving proper 12 VDC feed for the miner? What is the psu model you're using? Title: Re: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems Post by: avalonmin3r on January 06, 2022, 04:56:44 PM would unit run with a board taken out?
Title: Re: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems Post by: HagssFIN on January 06, 2022, 05:23:12 PM I suppose so, but I haven't tried it myself.
Can you tell more about your psu model? It's really hard to remote troubleshoot these, so I would appreciate answers to questions, it helps us to help you Title: Re: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems Post by: avalonmin3r on January 06, 2022, 10:35:30 PM reports back with some answers. the PSUs I am using this time around are: pd 18 Hp

It did not trigger my fire alarm. I did not notice any odor either
The miner worked for about a month. I did notice each cable was quite warm to the touch and flimsy when operating. The cables and breakout board are just whatever came up as "new" on ebay. Title: Re: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems Post by: HagssFIN on January 06, 2022, 11:13:54 PM Are those HP HSTNS-PD18 750 Watt server power supplies?
Did you use two of those for one A741? It is important to not mix the two psu circuits together. I hope you have one psu connected to the left PMU board in the A741, and second psu connected to the right PMU board in the A741. What is the wire gauge for those 6-pin cables? Could be that your wires were too thin to handle the power load... The Vi value should be closer to 1200, so it was clear from the log values that there's something wrong with your power feed and now this whole psu connector burn issue story explains more about it. And hey, are you using 110V mains voltage for the psus? This is one important question as well. edit: I had a look at datasheet and seems like this psu model can handle 750W even with 110V mains Title: Re: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems Post by: avalonmin3r on January 06, 2022, 11:24:51 PM I moved to a new place without 220v. I tried 110v in past on these machines without problems. however, I do understand why 220v is "the way"
no mixing of circuits most likely too thin. let me check the guage. i would not doubt quality control has decreased for the wires and breakout board 20$ units on ebay. I have another unit and look at how eff'ed this one is too PVT_T0[50 52 54 56 58 58 60 62 62 62 62 61 60 61 61 60 61 63 61 62 59 58 55 54 52 51] PVT_T1[55 56 57 60 59 61 62 64 64 66 67 66 67 65 66 64 65 63 63 63 60 60 58 56 55 52] PVT_T2[-40 15 15 15 15 16 15 16 17 17 -40 17 17 17 18 17 18 16 17 16 17 15 15 16 16 16] PVT_T3[15 14 15 15 15 16 16 16 16 17 17 18 17 17 17 17 17 16 17 16 15 16 15 15 17 13] Title: Re: Avalon 741 can someone help read the log, problems Post by: philipma1957 on January 06, 2022, 11:41:00 PM reports back with some answers. the PSUs I am using this time around are: pd 18 Hp pictures say a few words... trying to upload pictures but cannot figure it out but basically wires and breakout board and burned to a crisp. got so hot it melted the solder and bridged a jumper? omg https://i.ibb.co/Jds0vBq/20220106-130331.jpg https://i.ibb.co/Qvm46gk/20220106-130311.jpg https://ibb.co/nr5HhhJ/20220106-130329.jpg So did you use 2 psu's for 1 miner?
