Post by: BtcTalkShow on January 11, 2022, 07:19:43 PM
The BitcoinTalkShow (https://www.youtube.com/BitcoinTalkShow) Best of January content suggestions!

Hello and welcome to the first suggestion thread for the upcoming Best of the month videos over at The BitcoinTalkShow!

Feel free to suggest remarkable BitcoinTalk threads, events, posts, memes, etc that happened this January.
Afterwards, we will try to feature your suggestions in a future BitcoinTalkShow Youtube video! Hopefully monthly.

The BitcoinTalkShow is a BitcoinTalk show that is a Bitcoin Talk show about BicoinTalk! A production oriented around, you guessed it, our amazing forum.
If you haven't heard about it yet, the idea isn't new (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5029017), but work started in summer 2020.
It's a new endeavor so please bear with us. Here's the general BitcoinTalkShow discussion thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5351302).

*This being the first edition, feel free to suggest not just January things. Suggestions from other sources might get looked at too.

My suggestion would be this thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5378231.msg58794602#msg58794602

I’m sure you know about it  :) Where this member gave a returned $1000 that was accidentally sent to them.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2900073

I know this thread started in December , but it did roll on into January, so hopefully it fits the bill.
It really does show the positive side to the Bitcoin world and here on bitcointalk we should be promoting as many positives as possible to negate the mass media view of crypto scams.
My 2 sats worth anyway :)

Can you provide translation files here, we have many users from different countries so it will be easy to find translators for all languages (some will volunteer for free)?
It will be difficult to rate from the first videos but over time you will find more comments.
It is strange to see videos with low views, you can ask theymos to add the channel to Ad slots or book a fixed HTML design advertisement for the channel.

Finally, something to add to my very short youtube follow list. For now, anyway. Pity that lots of interesting stuff that's already happened not in January, but I think we've had enough of history, time to start highlighting new content (despite your footnote, I think we should look at the month).

Might want to do a regular look at Meta if you want to cover internal goings-on, though you probably already did as I saw the thread on Newbie of the year (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5379080.msg58851773#msg58851773) referencing your show as better organised version of.

I have seen two remarkable threads that I want to nominate. But one happened December and the other one happened January. Today is 14 of January and many posts have not been made already. I think this came early. Unless it will be open throughout this month.

I watch bitcointalkshow two times on YouTube and it was talking about the things happening in this forum. I will like to see the video that will talk about what is happening in the country of the people watching the video. It will make the people to be more interested in bitcointalk if they know their country people are in this forum.
I saw this topic by Ratimov about how every board including all the local boards participated in bitcointalk last year. It will be good idea to make a show to say the country that participated most. Posting Dynamics for 2021 (Main Boards + Locals) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5380683.msg58950080#msg58950080)

Another one is a topic started by fillippone about El Salvador bitcoin bond.
Everything you wanted to know about ES Volcano Bond and were afraid to ask! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5377037.msg58723784#msg58723784)
This topic was made late December but I saw it this year.
In this period that countries are rejecting bitcoin I think the country that made bitcoin their legal tender need to be in our YouTube news. Is also related to First Bitcoin City (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5372455).

I think that most of the topics that @xtraelv[1] created deserve to be highlighted in the channel and I will quote some good topics:

 - Bitcointalk history of hacks and vandalism (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4405796.0)
 - History - Bitcoin Savings and Trust and Pirateat40 on Bitcointalk (PONZI) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4464504.msg40018451#msg40018451)
 - Silk road and Bitcointalk. How it played a role in its rise and fall. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4437773.msg39642496#msg39642496)

I also think that many of the historical aspects of the forum are inaccurate. Therefore, creating an episode that talks about the forum from the beginning until today and a detailed account of the historical events would be appropriate.

Personally, my favorite topic is: Old bitcoin history: @johoe return 870 BTC to the owners (http://Old bitcoin history: @johoe return 870 BTC to the owners)

If you want more ideas, I can submit them, but I think the above topics are enough to prepare several episodes.

More lambos...  More drama...  At least one scene of crazy zooming in and out while repeating a phrase of some sort.

I'm thinking something along the lines of the Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tubeman Emporium and Warehouse commercial on Family Guy.

I might suggest highlighting some of the features of the forum that make the forum great. One example might be the merit system, and how it keeps the noise to signal ratio from getting too high.

Another suggestion might be to talk about one of the most popular things on the forum: signature campaigns and their history.

This is an awesome and has the potential to make a forum like this one, which most would consider outdated to be "trendy" for want of a better word.
My recommendation for remarkable threads/posts/events etc would be the one where the user returns $1000 wrongly sent to them, it is one which the forum should share with the world.
There was also my Merit Source Application thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5378658.msg58823864#msg58823864) which I would personally nominate *tongue in cheek, of course

I hope there's still room for a few more:

  • Wanted to Share: The (almost) Ultimate C.I. Collectors set Update!! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5382691.0)
    - Collectors' dream when they start their journey.
  • Trezor hacked (again) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5383049.0)
    - Even though it's about a vulnerability in outdated firmware, the whole process is still quite interesting.
  • A solo Bitcoin miner just won block 718214 reward worth 6.25 $BTC (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5380932.0)
    - As a former miner, I regret bringing my operations to a halt.
  • Bitcoin makes a loser a winner (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5381365.0)
    - Despite finding out that "3 out of the 4 users (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5381365.msg59084676#msg59084676)" that were supposed to receive the consolation prize of 25BTC each, didn't get it, it's still an interesting piece of news.
  • Offline bitcoin vending machine using lightning (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5381769.0)
    - It'd be great to see one of these vending machines in Cryptios office :)
