When bitcointalk token  :D

I think the forum is not an asset of the bitcoin user. It was created by satoshi and later on handed over to theymos. Now, theymos is controlling the forum, it's theymos's forum, not a public asset. So, I really don't see the necessity of being decentralized or having DAO. Anyway, I think this has been discussed before.

When decentralized ?

Blockchains and decentralization are not the solutions that simply makes everything better, this being one such case.
Hence the answer for you is: most probably never.

Bitcointalk works fine in itself(with just very minor problems here and there; ehem, epochtalk). Quick reminder that we don't really need to decentralize literally everything.

Its sad so sad !
Why? What do you think will get better if Bitcointalk would be decentralized? I think it will be terrible if all users have to download all posts by themselves and browse their own local "Bitcointalkchain", meanwhile uploading all posts to other nodes users.

I'd love to see it as an experiment though :D

When decentralized ?

Decentralized does not necessarily automagically make everything better. While decentralized architecture can provide benefits in terms of redundancy and security, it may be more challenging to implement and maintain.

For the sake of discussion, you could mention some benefits you expect from the Bitcointalk forum's decentralized application, in addition to your question.

Someone could create Electrum-like protocol, server and client so you don't need to download whole blockchain. But it'll be terrible for privacy even if they use VPN/Tor.
I can think of more problems: centralization with just a few nodes, different nodes will have different "mempools", some nodes might apply censorship and spam will be rampant. Although I remember a post (probably from theymos) explaining that spam could be handled in a similar way as the Trust system, where each user has a list of users who's posts are considered spam.
Let me put it this way: there's probably a reason why nobody uses it ;)

Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind a NFT of Laszlo's pizza post ;D
