The first basics of bitcoin is to know the network that controls the affairs of bitcoin. Sending and receiving of bitcoin is done on the blockchain network. Do not see bitcoin as a get rich quick scheme and the more you choose to learn about bitcoin the better for you. Because bitcoin is filled with multiple of knowledge that's yet to be learnt by it's users. So, if you care to know much about bitcoin, you'll be compelled to browse the forum on regular basis to understand how the network works. Another basic you need to know is that the capital B is different from the small b in bitcoin terms. Capital B means the Blockchain network, and the small b means the coin. Therefore when you see Bitcoin it means blockchain network while bitcoin is meant for the coin. cheers.

Am new here and looking to find out more about the basics of Bitcoin and how it all works.

A good starting point is the Bitcoin White Paper, where you will learn the technical side of Bitcoin.
https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

To understand how it works you will have to understand cryptography, because that's all about, each time you sign a transaction or each time you see a new block there is cryptography behind that move.

And you will hit a point where you understand that you don't need to fully understand the bitcoin backend to use it. It's like driving a car, you don't need to understand how the motor works to drive it.

Hi All,

As a forum member I welcome you this forum and want to tell you if you are really reluctant to learn about Bitcoin stuff then you are the right place where it's available free of cost and at accurate format without any mixing up things for personal benefits.

Any help with posting me to a good forum link is much appreciated.
For sure there are many links available or say guide on this forum but i would like to mention which I usually provide to all newbies when they ask the same question so here goes for you as well:

5 Resources to teach Average Joe about Bitcoin  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156874.0)

Beginners & Help Encyclopedia [UPD: +Electrum Board]  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5364418.0)

These two topics cover basics about bitcoin but if you are more interested in reading some books then i also created extensive guide for it which you can surely check for gaining some additional information out of it :

Some Books we need to read  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5350541.msg57516728#msg57516728)

Apart from it there are some more if you wish to search for them or tell in this thread about some specific topic you are interested about so the links could be provided accordingly and will help you out more.So keep exploring the forum and check out for anything knowledgeable and use it to increase your knowledge and help others.Remember exchange of knowledge is key to grow.

~snip~
Yeah that's really good but it would be nice with direct link to GitHub for it where you can download it and read from there if you want to free access to it :  Mastering Bitcoin  (https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook)

But if you want it from Amazon and give some respect and reward to the writer here is link for you :  Mastering Bitcoin  (https://www.amazon.in/Mastering-Bitcoin-2e-Andreas-Antonopoulos/dp/1491954388)

This distinction got lost throughout the years. People don't really pay much attention to how they spell far more important words than bitcoin/Bitcoin. But you are right about what you said. I wrote a thread on this topic a few years ago with a poll to see if people pay any attention to the difference in spelling. Most replies suggest that no one cares.

Do you know the difference between Bitcoin and bitcoin?  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5288473.0)

Binance has the Binance Academy (https://academy.binance.com/en). That's also not a bad place to start if you are a beginner. They have articles on various topics and even a few quizzes (https://academy.binance.com/en/quizzes) that you can take to test your knowledge. I would suggest the Phishing Quiz (https://academy.binance.com/en/quizzes/phishing).
