Title: Smoking
Post by: PreciousH on January 28, 2022, 12:57:19 PM
Do you like smoking? If yes, in how many months do you smoke or you smoke everyday?

Does anyone else get the vibe that smoking nowadays is much less popular than it used to be? I remember that in my very first job smoking was a soft-requirement because everyone did it and important decisions got made in the smoke-corner. Nowadays in all work collectives I have been part of, there are perhaps a few smokers

No I don’t smoke & nor should you. I’m not going to be too hard on you if you’re under 30 but if not please stop smoking. Think about your future, your family & your health. Why put yourself in danger of major disease? Look after yourself buddy, please think about it.

Yes, you are right. But Some under 30 do also smoking and didn't listen to their parents?

I prefer more cigarettes because the price is calculated to be cheaper, and 1 pack can be a day

I don’t smoke because I think it’s unhealthy. I understand it was popular in the old days because people were unaware smoking causes cancer.
However, now with the all the medical research linking smoking to different health problems it just doesn’t appeal to me.

I abstain from smoking. My uncle smoked his entire life and he passed away quickly, and that wasn’t an easy death.

I really wouldn't want to start smoking nor would I advise someone. Smoking is generally bad. We all know this except few who has decided t to pretend not to know. However, for a man that I know who has been smoking, he is old now and still smoking, and he is still alive. Now I don't understand the part of the threat that says smokers are liable to die young. At what age is this statement factual?

Smoking is dangerous to the health because of the chemical content of the smoke been received into he body. Even the manufacturing companies of tobacco sticks wrote it boldy on the package that it is dangerous.
But what can we say if not that it is a choice of life since life is a choice. One man's food is another man poison. Smokers know too well that smoking is dangerous to the health but they all have a reason why they smoke. All we need to do is not to give up on them, keep educating them with time they will understand. But if the choose not to understand my dear leave them.

Smoking causes lung and heart disease. 10 of the Worst Diseases Caused by Smoking (https://www.lung.org/research/sotc/by-the-numbers/10-worst-diseases-smoking-causes)

Smoking tobacco causes an addiction to nicotine. Nicotine Dependence (https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/nicotine-dependence/symptoms-causes/syc-20351584)

If you don't smoke, don't start. If you do, quit now.

Well Simple yet easy to understand.  ;D

I'm not smoking either. But my friend who want to quit smoking usually uses e-cigarette and uses zero nicotine for the liquid but I still do not recommend it

I smoke a lot because I play a lot of online games on the portal https://yoju1.casino/au (https://yoju1.casino/au) , that's how I earn a living. My favorite cigarettes are Marlboro, and what do you like to smoke? :)

I'm 66 and have smoked since I was 15. Still in perfect health with zero problems.

Smoking is a great distraction as a way to relieve stress and relax. While I would not suggest that anyone *starts* smoking it is certainly not a 'if you smoke you will die from it' thing. I also think that is not something that Karens and governments need to care about.

Ask your doctor to take a picture of your lungs.
That's done 2x a year and they look near perfect. Lung capacity test always amazes the docs as as it's consistently equal to most healthy non-smokers. Point here is, genetics are most important when it comes to health and how much damage that lifestyle inflicts. Some folks seem almost immune to many things while others are susceptible to almost anything for any reason.

It seems to me that two times a year is even a lot.
It's not about ability, it's about the toxic tar that collects in your lungs.

No, is part of the bi-annual physicals I've been getting as long as I can remember. Tar and the damage it can cause shows up on x-rays and the docs often comment on usually seeing more clouding from the non-smokers with it due to poor air quality, working in dusty areas, etc. As I said before, I'm a Lucky one with apparently excellent genetics that do an excellent job of cleanup. On both sides of the family going several generations back folks have generally lived for 95-100 years. btw: many were lifelong smokers... Just sayin' :D

To be clear, I'm not saying that smoking is always harmless. For many folks it certainly can exacerbate pre or latent medical conditions while for others - zero to only very minor issues caused by it. A myriad of other things including ones general environment can also do it and smoking may/can amplify a persons sensitivity to those other factors. It is up to the individual to decide to roll the dice and smoke -- not others people/society.

I haven't smoked before, but in the last couple of years, my whole life is filled with daily stress. Already a few months, my partner and I have been taking one smoke break every day to distract and relax. It is definitely harmful to health, but sometimes you have to choose between mental and physical health.

'World health organization warns that smokers are liable to die young'. Is this a medically satisfied true warning?  If the correct answer to that question is a big time yes indeed! Then, smokers with sound minds will very much have to do a rethink on issues concerning smoking. And long health, cleanliness: both physical and spiritual, will have been waiting for repented smokers.

Smoking come with the decision of humans,  and the change of environment somebody might be, like they are some village that if a child might leave and in a certain compound orh a environment that have people that smoke he/ she will smoke, I love when I always hear has the organization if health say that smoker  are liable to die young, but this really comes from a family when it an extended family, beside thus come to be a problem to the body when it affect the body and it comes to medical process, that can't be done.
But so many people feel it make different in term if action and way of emotions and feelings.

Was just speaking with a older neighbor friend of mine about smoking he must be at least 60. I believe that any kind of cigarette or vaping device that produces any kind of smoke is very harmful.
Many doctors recommend not smoking, even to the point where big tobacco companies put warning labels on any kind of smoking product. Back then smoking was popularized throughout films, radio, and television as a way to have people buy tobacco products.
My friend grew up in an atmosphere where back then it was ok or cool to smoke was not an issue until later studies revealed the harmful effects of smoking. My friend told me that the first time he try a cigarette was at the age of 14 years old when he was going to high school.
He also said that when he smokes it gives him a feeling of relief from stress that a doctor may not understand.

Let's see: at least one in four smokers will die from cancer caused by smoking, and these are not only various types of lung cancer, at least 80% of which are caused by smoking, but also to a greater or lesser extent: laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, esophageal adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, pancreatic ductal carcinoma, gastric adenocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and some others, the connection to which has not yet been proven. At the same time, smokers still have an average population risk of dying from cancer of about 10%. Therefore, roughly added, the risk of death from cancer for a person who smokes for more than 10 years (on average, a pack of cigarettes per day) is about 35-40%.

https://www.cancer.org/healthy/stay-away-from-tobacco/health-risks-of-tobacco/health-risks-of-smoking-tobacco.html

It is also worth remembering that chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema, various ischemic pathologies are almost guaranteed.

However, all this harm is not due to nicotine, in the first place, which by itself can even reduce the risk of certain diseases, such as Parkinson's disease (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-88910-4), but due to tobacco combustion products, such as benzopyrene, benzanthracene, acetaldehyde, and others.
This all leads to the fact that 50% of smokers die prematurely and, mostly painfully, due to the consequences of smoking.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2928221/

Well, people who say that they smoke all their lives and everything is fine, you are just lucky to be not in these 50%, but this is a lottery, not a pattern.

It's nice to know that some peeps don't also see anything wrong with smoking; well I don't either.
I DON'T SMOKE!
I'm a tutor and a healthy practitioner but if it's legalized in most countries (especially the Asians) then it could be assumed that it's taken to sustain 'em from cold.

Smoking isn't good for the lungs but it all depends on an individual's system.
My boyfriend smokes. There's little I can do to stop him totally, but I'm happy that he's slowly losing up.

Smoking is becoming a lot less popular now. The youngsters don’t seem to find it cool like they did when I was at school. I do see people vaping around the town but tobacco smoking seems to be a lot less common than it used to be.

Where I live it is banned to smoke in bars and restaurants. I think this lessened the want to smoke. The government has made it less appealing for people, I assume this must be putting a lot less pressure on our health services.

Smoking is the inhaling as well as exhaling of fumes from plant materials. That's if you asked the definition.

If you ask its effect, it is an addictive act. In the long run, smoking can cause several health issues which can culminate to death.

Should you need to start smoking I will advise not to. And if you need to stop it, then my advice for you is to apply the measure, I don't know what to call it, maybe "Even and Odd Reduction Measure".

If you used to smoke 20 wraps a week, you can start reducing it by 2, and smoke 18. Then the number can further be reduced by 3, making it 15 in a week. Maintain the same 15 in the next 2 weeks. Then further reduce it this time by 2 again in the next week, and then 3 subsequent week. Maintain the current number of 10 wraps for a period of 2 more weeks or 3. Keep reducing it by 2 again this time and smoke 8 in a week. The next week you can reduce it by 3.

The idea is that reduction should be 'even' and 'odd' for every new week or month, applied to the number you used to smoke. This is ideal and works well. Complete abstinence is assured if this measure is applied religiously.
