I went to buy a phone with my friend today. Going there, Iphone 13 pro max became my favorite phone.  And arouses interest in buying. But I did not have enough money to buy that phone in my pocket. I laugh and talk about Bitcoin to the owner of that showroom. I was surprised to that the owner of that showroom want to sell his phone to me  for Bitcoin. And I asked him again, "Are you kidding me?"then He immediately gave me a bitcoin wallet to pay him. I paid him bitcoin and bought the Iphone 13 pro max.

Since the price of Bitcoin has come down a lot now, it has become foolish for me to buy the phone with Bitcoin.  Because for that I have to spend more bitcoin.  But still I am very happy to be able to do it.  Because in my country Bitcoin is still declared as an illegal currency.  Nevertheless, I got this advantage

Well, just for the experience of buying a famous brand of a phone using Bitcoin, this can be worth it all though on my part I may not decide to part with my Bitcoin just for a phone and this is the speculative side of me speaking. This story is confirming that more and more merchants are now aware of Bitcoin and are so willing to do business with it...just like the gold in the past. Anyway, this is an experience that will stay with you for many years until one day when buying anything with Bitcoin can be so wildly popular so there is nothing unique with it anymore.

Lol :D it is possible any time to buy I phone and others smartphone with fiat money. here i have to sell my bitcoin to Fiat money. then i have to pay them. But in this case I was able to make a bitcoin payment directly to the shopkeeper. And I paid him 0.029 bitcoin for this phone. Do you understand my post?  Or, made the comment without understanding?

Why would you buy a lot of iPhone? Pretty sure that you're only going to need only one phone and there's more that you can use the extra bitcoin rather than buying all these iPhones. I wouldn't really use bitcoin for buying electronics but this is awesome nonetheless. For me, it's just ironic that you're buying a depreciating asset with an appreciating one.

At least though, you've experience to used buying things with bitcoin. This is one drawbacks that critics are throwing at bitcoin enthusiast. Saying that bitcoin is no longer a means of payment but as a investment instruments.

But you have proved again and again that it is not the case. And don't think of the fiat value, for sure you can accumulate more bitcoin is still cheap.

Well! that's really a good experience when you really want that phone so much and you don't have enough money to purchase it but surprisingly the seller agreed for the iPhone to be bought with bitcoins. That's an interesting fact though iPhone is super expensive nowadays at least for me, its price will slowly go down when a new version will come. the bitcoins you paid to him will gradually increase its price when iPhone 14 pro max is released in the market. But don't worry about it, since your buying it for yourself, it will never be wasted.

Whether your decision to buy the phone with your bitcoin is foolish or not will completely depend on how you're going to use the phone. If you're didn't need a new phone to start with and you're just going to use this phone for games and Netflix and such, then we could probably say that it's foolish. On the other hand, if your initial phone was old and slow and that you're going to use the new one for business/work/income-related purposes, then I'd say it's probably justified.

This is one best experience to buy an Iphone using bitcoin because this is something we all wanted to do (as bitcoin supporter)

but what I am asking is why now? when month ago Bitcoin is double in price as now? if you purchase that Iphone in november last year? surely you are only paying almost a half of what you paid now.

and also Why going to a shop when you have not enough Money to purchase a phone? and also to my surprise , iphone 13 ? lol the most expensive phone now is what you targeting ?

@smartaction, congratulations on buying your new smartphone and first purchase directly for Bitcoin. I also paid for my smartphone with BTC, with the difference that I made it online. I want to ask you if this is a brand new phone and if you got a bill and a warranty? I'm asking you this because you only paid about $1120 for that model, which is a lot of money, but in my country (128 GB of storage) is costs more than 0.04 BTC.

What I just want to advise you is that it is not very smart to keep such a large amount in your mobile crypto wallet, but it is again a matter of choice for each individual.

I have been using my previous phone for two years.  My primary phone is now obsolete and slow. Which is why I was forced to buy a new phone. And this happened to me when I went to buy that phone. I don't like playing games.  So I will definitely do business work with my phone and do my other necessary work. even now i am sharing my experience here using that new phone  :)

You said you wanted to buy a phone, you wanted to pay in fiat before, the money was not enough, you negotiated with the shop owner if he can accept bitcoin, he said yes, he gave you bitcoin address and you paid with bitcoin. That was what happened. From what you said, you have fiat to buy the phone but not enough, you can decide to convert the remaining fiat to bitcoin and enjoy your iPhone 13 Pro Max.

i have friends in their country that bitcoin is prohibited from being used as a means of payment but they still accept payments with Bitcoin, i asked if "someone would be penalized if caught using Bitcoin as a means of payment, he said maybe yes but i don't know for sure because so far no problem happened"

actually payments with Bitcoin have a high number of enthusiasts but because of restrictions or regulations from the government, they are afraid to accept it openly.  i've never bought a smartphone with Bitcoin but i'm lucky to live in a country that doesn't have a problem with Bitcoin being used as a payment tool, maybe later i will try to buy a smartphone also with Bitcoin here.

at least you have your favourite phone now because of bitcoin and at the same time you make the owner happy as well because he's now owning a bitcoin at the very dip level wherein for sure he will become profitable soon because of you..  :D  by the way i wouldn't be surprised why the owner has bitcoin wallet since bitcoin it's very common now, infact even drivers nowadays were accepting bitcoin so how much more that store wherein selling gadgets. :D

Lol, My target was not to buy i phone 13 pro max. It was my dream to buy it. I went to buy another company's phone like Oneplus.  But after going to the showroom. I became interested in buying an iPhone 13. And when the shopkeeper decided to accept Bitcoin, I bought it easily.

That is good information, i was discussing people too, in my environment and youths specifically that bitcoin will be use to buy everything but one of them Solomon particularly disagreed with me that bitcoin can only be use to buy coins like bitcoin i laughed at him, all my thoughts is that he lacks the wisdom of bitcoin. Now op has testified buying iphone 13 with bitcoin, it is the forum i saw some one explained how he raised building with bitcoin, Bitcoin can buy anything if you have available Bitcoin that worth the values of what you want, because this world has indirectly turned to digital currency.

Well, if you're a businessman and you own bitcoin then that's normal for you to buy in bulk. But as an individual who just wants to have one piece of it, there's no sense of spending that much and purchasing it with that a lot.

And on OP's situation, he got that the owner of that store is likely a bitcoin holder and investor. In short, the timing and fate is with OP and whatever is the deal, he's happy with it and satisfied.

I understand the slight regret of OP since the price isn't good but bitcoin is going to be used in this type of situation. If you really like where to spend it, there's no regret for it.

If we consider the speculative value of bitcoin, then we would never spend it, as it has the potential to increase in price from any point. But it as great utility as a currency for exchange of value and if no one spends it, then its value cannot grow.

IMO, large purchases are more likely to attract more attention than a coffee purchase, and by not reusing addresses you could avoid being tracked. Fiat seems more attractive for a regular user however.

Well, I guess you were pretty lucky since the store was willing to accept Bitcoin, congrats! Honestly, even if you consider the future price of Bitcoin when you bought, it stands that it's still in the "future", while what you're going to use for your phone is in the present, so I'd reckon it's a good purchase nonetheless. Plus if you're hodling a pretty sizeable amount and you're holding for the long term, I reckon spending a bit wouldn't hurt you that much. It'd be kind of dumb to use Bitcoin to pay if that was everything you have invested though, hope OP didn't do such a thing.

I have not yet experienced paying my fare with bitcoin, i guess its not that usable here. You still have to convert your bitcoin into fiat so you can use it as a payment. However, i'm glad to hear OP that you have used your bitcoin at your own advantage and pay directly to the owner. Its a good feeling that you have finally enjoy your hard earned bitcoin through buying your dream phone.  I must say you're not being dumb when you use your bitcoin to buy it, even if you use it just for fashion or whatever, you have all the rights to spend your bitcoin. Your money, your bitcoin, your choice how to spend it.

I find it useless to earn and save more bitcoin if we always think for the future. Sometimes, its also best to buy yourself a reward that will satisfy you like what OP did. And to think that he's buying it for work purposes, i guess it will add more benefits on his part. Sad to say, some of us here cannot appreciate what OP did. He is just sharing his own experience that will testify that bitcoin nowadays is already very known and popular, so one cannot find a hard time to use it as a payment, unless if bitcoin is banned in your own country.

It's really an exciting and promising experience to purchase something that we want using our Bitcoins. I have also experienced purchasing a good cellphone unit in our local online shop that accepts cryptocurrency. I guess it would be better if there would be more establishments and businesses that would accept crypto because it will beneficial to us. I believe that it could possibly happen in the future.

The owner of the showroom got a bargain. Though BTC is illegal in the country, people knows BTC.

I'm not willing to exchange bitcoins only for iphone 13 pro max especially when the price of bitcoin has dropped because the value of payments in bitcoin makes it possible to get 2x iphone 13 pro max in the future, that's why he wants bitcoins from your wallet.

Your desire to get an iphone 13 pro max seems to make you forget that bitcoin is currently in decline in price, I personally also have the desire to buy a gaming laptop, but so far I'm still patient not to sell my bitcoins under $45K, but the difference with you, I must first exchange the bitcoins  that I have with fiat money on the exchange, because so far my country has prohibited the purchase of goods using bitcoin or other crypto, if I am caught making purchases using bitcoin of course I will get a fine from the government :'(.

As long that phone is the thing you ever wanted  then it is really worth on spending those bitcoins that you do have because you wouldnt really do such step if you dont
really like it on the first place.As long you dont regret on such decision that you had made then that what surely counts.You could still accumulate coins if you wanted
to.Somehow, spending too much in wants is not a good idea but if you have done this for once then its considerable and since its your money

Buying anything needs money so if you are in need of an iPhone then you actually have to give your money to get it and you actually paid via Bitcoin to get it and I guess it is actually an invalid purchase because you mentioned bitcoin is illegal so how will you get the invoice of your purchase?

First, it's great that you did and got your Iphone. Second, it's bad because you and the shop owner have violated your country's government rules by using bitcoin as a means of payment which you can both be punished for if caught doing so.

I wouldn't do it if I were you, it makes sense to avoid it by selling my bitcoin to fiat first and paying the shopkeeper in fiat without informing him of the bitcoin holdings in the wallet. But maybe I will if my country has legalized bitcoin as legal tender. Even though I currently have enough bitcoin to buy some things, but I prefer fiat over bitcoin to pay shop owners not to violate government regulations.

Use your new phone to earn more Bitcoins, and congratulations to the showroom owner who has achieved his wish to own Bitcoin. Between the two, both you and the showroom owner get what they expect. Regardless of the price that goes up and down, the price of the cellphone you have will eventually go down with the arrival of a new version. With this caption, it could be said that you clearly knew what you were doing and did it anyway. The main idea is, if it feels good to you, then it's okay! What's the point having a currency that you can't use it in satisfying some wants!! And I'm not saying selling at this point is the best idea but then, you want a phone that is a need, you've got no fiat and have got enough BTC to get it. Why deprive yourself and go through an uncertain time of wait on a rise. I'm sure there is more where that 0.029BTC came from and your sure to be adding more to your portfolio over time. At least, its good to know that there are some people who uses it for its original purpose than, just a store of value or asset. More and more used cases makes it more believable and the merchant has made some real investment on his part that is sure to profit if he or she hodls.

I'm happy to hear that there are two similar people exchanging goods who both share the same passion. You want an iphone and he the showroom owner happens to want bitcoin. Here the point is that I saw a transaction which in the future transactions like this are commonplace where bitcoins can fulfill someone's desire to have the goods of their dreams.

So, the point of your story is you were able to buy things for money? I'm a bit confused. I wonder if this is more a case of the owner getting away with selling an item "off the books" so they can avoid paying tax on the profits and it's unlikely you got any form of receipt to back it up, so you might not be able to go that route if it's even an option in your country. I guess if Bitcoin is considered illegal then there is no hope of taking it back if there was ever a problem with it. Frankly I don't understand why anyone would buy a phone that costs over a $1,000, so maybe you have a lot of money already or you might be a little bit wasteful trying to buy the latest devices with very little extra features.

A good achievement where you can get what you want with Bitcoin even though maybe right now is not the right time to sell it because the price is going down. Although it is said that in his country crypto is still illegal but that doesn't mean that people there don't use crypto, the proof is that the owner knows even understand about crypto and accepts payments with Bitcoin. Bitcoin can buy whatever we want to depend on the needs of each person, so manage it well so that we can also buy goods or achieve the targets we want.

You don't need to sell or spend all the whole 1BTC to buy that IPhone. And Bitcoin as a payment method is also a function of Bitcoin itself if available. So, it doesn't matter to use the BTC for payment. And the user has uttered what happen to his condition, so just be wise on your own ways.
As long as you are okay, why not if this can ease you do something. And if we are going to use BTC for trading or investing only, it also deosn't matter as long as we want.

I think its known to everyone that its hard to earn bitcoin, unless you are going to buy it with your spare cash.  And we are taking risk to earn it because we have our goals. Now, if that is one of the goals of OP to purchase a quality phone that will be his working buddy, then its definitely worth to buy. We don't live just to keep on taking risks and add more on our assets, there will also be a time in our lives where there is a need to spend regardless of the price because you know it will create satisfaction on yourself. And that what is OP is doing now.

Having bitcoin is never a risk, it is a blessing. I have posted here before about the phone he bought, there is nothing wrong about that, but he said that he has cash also to buy phone but the cash was not enough to buy the phone, then he used bitcoin to purchase the phone, there is nothing wrong about that, bitcoin is also a form of payment, but he can also convert the cash into bitcoin which will give him back some bitcoin or he can also work more here and receive some payemt to increase his bitcoin holding.

This sometimes makes me reluctant to use BTC to buy something because it feels unfortunate if the amount spent is greater and the value goes up when the price of BTC goes up.
But congrats, you have spent BTC you have with stuff you love.

No need to regret the decision you have made even though it looks a little stupid to make payments with bitcoin when the bitcoin price is down, to be honest I personally really want to buy some electronic goods with bitcoin out of curiosity to see the expressions of the sellers when we make payments with bitcoin but unfortunately where I live right now there is no store that dares to accept bitcoin as a payment method.

It was still a good purchase because you paid for it with bitcoin, which is becoming increasingly difficult to find merchants who will accept bitcoin as a payment method. Although you have a valid point that you spent a significant amount of bitcoin to purchase that phone, it is only a charge to experience, so it would be a win-win situation for me. Yeah this sounds great to see this transaction go through and probably the store owner understands that he is in a better position than you in this transaction compared to if the price of Bitcoin was at its ATH which would mean you paying with less BTC Sats as you said but overall, it is nice to know more retailers are willing to accept Bitcoin payment even in a country where Bitcoin is not allowed legally.

Though it may sound stupid spending your Btc during the dip because you're basically gonna pay more Btc. However, there might an exemption.
If the phone is useful to you, I mean If you can generate an income using the phone you bought then I guess that would be all fine.

Well, bitcoin will be more valuable in the future, but since you spend that money to buy a phone, you should already accept that you don't own that bitcoin. As long as you have more bitcoin in your wallet, you can still hold it and prepare for the future.

Congrats on your new phone, that's a great phone but I tell you, its value will depreaciate unlike bitcoin that will appreciate in the long run.

This is always the worry of why some don't want to spend their bitcoin. But, don't forget that bitcoin is really made to be spent and just eventually became a store of value.

There are some who are saying "Why did you do that?" or "You might buy more IPhones when you hold it longer". For those who are saying like that and the like then I think its wrong to dictate what the OP wants to do since its his own Bitcoins that he used to pay it.

I can feel it because I already did twice. I bought 2 different phones and a computer using not Bitcoin only but altcoins as well (I converted it into fiat since they aren't accepting Bitcoin and altcoins as payment here) and its very satisfying to use your cryptos to buy something that you like :). Why are other people doesn't want to spend their Bitcoin? At first place it is a "currency" and we know what is the definition of currency right?

The only downside to this is the phone is depreciating while Bitcoin is appreciating but as long as you have stable source of Bitcoins and you are happy then there is nothing wrong.

OP has all the right to spend his bitcoin whatever he wants to because in the first place, he earned and owned it. I'm glad he was able to enjoy the fruit of his labor and hard work by buying his dream gadget. I think he is not sharing this for us to criticize his decision, but its clear that he wants to encourage us that there is more to bitcoin aside from hodling it as a store of value. Bitcoin is a currency, so its intended to be used as a payment in the end and not to be forever stored in our wallet.

This is the good thing about being decentralized, you can transact as much as you want as long there is agreement between the two parties, without being regulated by a higher entity. In fact, there are a lot of scenarios that prove bitcoin is beyond useful than fiat, plus you can carry it more secured because there is no physical representation on it unlike fiat. And for OP, its a great feeling that you finally use your bitcoin as to where its intended to use, as a currency.

Many of us are happy that Bitcoin is being spent more and more for everyday transactions, the only thing I would see as silly here would be that you have spent a significant part of your bitcoin holdings on that little toy that after all is like a car, an expense in most cases whose value tends to 0, while the Bitcoin is an asset whose value does not stop growing in the long term.

You can understand how sharp and interlligent was the shop keeper who accepted bitcoin to sel his iphone. In few months times, when bitcoin will be double the price, then you may regret selling your bitcoin for iphone 13 pro max. If i was you and i had money in my bank or home, i would not sell my bitcoin at current prices.

Congratulations buddy, I know the feeling that comes with spending your Bitcoin without having to convert it to fiat first. I have done so on multiple occasions and it's more satisfying then spending fiats. Some might say it's an unwise decision spending Bitcoin but they forget Bitcoin is a currency and it's might to be spent not just held. You can have multiple accounts in which the Bitcoin in your sending wallet should be for spending while that in your investment account should be for holding.

If I may asked though, why the iphone, I get it's expensive and give a certain level of satisfaction but from my finding it isn't anything different from the iphone 12. Iphone aren't as innovative as we think, there aren't that much different. If you want a super phone go for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Many people underate Samsung products but they deliver the best phone.

I never thought that someone will buy an iPhone with the use of bitcoin well still iphone is a top brand of phones but I'm not fan of it i don't have any idea what is the original price of the current latest phone is that a fair trade or buy or a loss?. Yeah, I would like to congratulate OP for this achievement, I mean even in myself if I encounter to buy items on a store that really accepted bitcoin or cryptocurrency as a mode of payment I will be surely proud of it because this kind of instances is so rare. I mean, we are free to use wherever we wanted to use to spend our bitcoin and if I experience the same thing as OP have had experienced I would be glad about it because it only means that the small businesses in my country are also open on the possibility that crypto is now accepted by the people of my country.

It was an amazing experience, being able to use bitcoin as a means of payment for the goods you want to buy. Rarely do people want to accept bitcoin, especially in countries that do not support bitcoin and prohibit payments using bitcoin. That's not stupid, you never lose, you get the Iphone 13 Pro as you want, related to the fluctuating bitcoin price that is a risk. it's reminiscent of Pizza priced at 10,000 Bitcoins.

So many citizens do not adhere to every rule that's being passed on by the government. Bitcoin is also illegal in my country, as a matter of fact, sometime last year, they govt has to employ some investigative body who stopped you on the road and go through your phone to know if you have any Bitcoin app, if it's found that you had, the arrest and detain you.

I think it's fantastic that you bought an iphone 13 with bitcoin. It's great that more and more companies are accepting bitcoin to purchase their goods and services. 
Personally, I use BTC as a more of a long term investment to hedge against the coming inflation but I can understand the need to purchase certain goods like smart phones with BTC. 
A good phone can also be a great investment, perhaps not in terms of resale value but it can have a high ROI if you are using it to help you earn more money.   

I don't know about that purchase even though evidence that more and more stores are accepting payment in Bitcoin now but since you bought that iPhone the price possibly have reduced and definitely the price of Bitcoin has risen, so I say this is one purchase I wouldn't have made but I believe this iPhone might pay for itself if put to proper use. 

Wait. Btc in your country is illegal. Good thing that you did not get caught by the authorities during the transactions because to some countries where btc is illegal, they assign people to look around and these people can pretend that they are selling something for btc to be able to caught the offenders but next time you should be more careful on transacting outside but before I forget id like to congratulate you that you finally have the phone of your dreams.

What makes it more memorable is that you purchase the item with your bitcoins. This is something that every bitcoiners have been dreaming of but unfortunately they are doubting for some reasons.

It is because it's a meeting by chance that the owner is also investing in bitcoin. You rarely find that.

No one forces everybody to use their bitcoin for purchasing things like gadgets. But, bitcoin is made for it to be used so if you use it as a payment, that's not a problem.

If you use it as an asset, there's no problem.

This is the good thing about bitcoin, we're all free to do whatever we want on it. Spending it to this and that and whatever the likes of you.

It’s not like that in my country; you wouldn’t see stores that are accepting Bitcoin and I don’t know why it’s like that’. Some of them have said it’s because they are scared of the volatility of Bitcoin and that it would be problem for them if they should be accepting for their business, rather they would prefer to invest in it.

The only way I can make purchase with Bitcoin is through online stores and I can find people online who are accepting it. But, sometimes I’m sceptical with doing business with them because I fear they can’t be trusted. It would be best if I can find stores accepting it and then making payment while face to face with the sellers.

Seriously I believe what you did is not bad it really worth it and congratulation on your new phone. Seriously how I wish I can also buy a gadget with bitcoin I will be really happy but currently in my country have not seen any store which accept bitcoin as a payment but I believe very soon I will also be able to make purchase with bitcoin no matter how little or huge the price of what am buying is.

Knowing Bitcoin is set as illegal in your country but still able to purchase an iphone 13 max with it is a good experience. Dont think its foolish because you get something for spending your Bitcoin and you're happy with what you did so thats what matter. Anyway I also have a business its cellphone repair and accessories, im also accepting Bitcoin as payment. So somehow I have a contribution for people to know the existence of Bitcoin.

It is true that spending whether bitcoin or fiat as long you do get on what you do like or want then this is what matter most.Yes, its a good experience that you had able to get that directly on paying bitcoin even though some people would see this as a waste of coin to be used on this way but its your money after all then you do have the full rights on what you should gonna do.

Anyhow this gives OP the satisfaction of owning an iPhone 13 pro max. With time the mobile phone market used to decline. When it comes to bitcoin it also declines, but assure with the growth. An iPhone 13 pro max costs around $2000 in my country. Within few months or in an years time it'll be selling at $1000 (not exactly). If he have kept hold of the same for an year he might've got an amount to buy an upcoming iPhone.

Op itself have realised that he had done wrong making use of bitcoin at the wrong time. Anyhow it is always good to enjoy at the present than waiting for tomorrow, because we don't know what happens by tomorrow.

What matters to you most is securing the iPhone 13 Pro at that moment which you have successfully done, whether btc price is down or later will be up should not matter much to you now, but I don't think I will spend my hard earned btc buying iPhone (different stroke for different folks), not just yet, perhaps when btc gets to a certain price level maybe.

It is good to see other people who know and support bitcoin when they can accept it as payment although only from p2p transaction. In my country bitcoin still can't be used as payment and maybe if we talk about bitcoin, other people either listened or not they wouldn't care and something like OP experienced rarely to happen/

If you talk you'll get to know about more people who are already into cryptocurrency and bitcoin usage on different needs. I personally experienced it in my friends marriage. Friend of friend came for the marriage and were partying. At some point everyone are in a state of taking rest. By the time I got introduced to a person and on conversation he started to talk about bitcoin and altcoins. Suddenly he unlocked the mobile phone and showed me his portfolio which is really surprising, and his holdings were almost $7000 worth. In my country to see such an investment into cryptocurrency from a common man is really rare. So, if we keep conversation about cryptocurrency we'll find more people being aware and using it.

It is not bad, at least you were able to buy something you like using Bitcoin. As long as you still have the money you can still invest back into Bitcoin before the price starts to go up again, so it’s not too late, because the opportunity is still there for you to buy back. I also do the same thing, and quite a few times I have been able to use Bitcoin to spend on things on like and also use it to make payments to people.

I don’t regret doing it, it’s part of the reasons why I decided to make use of bitcoin, because I would like to do things like this and have no limit. After doing it I also invest back again into Bitcoin. So it’s not bad, the opportunity is still there.

OP was lucky to meet a showroom owner who knows Bitcoin and wants to accept it as a payment. Not all showroom owners are interested to Bitcoin, especially who wants to allow it as a payment tool. You cannot compare the situation in your country, if you do the same way, you probably get nothing. In my country, Bitcoin is also allowed for a digital asset only. People are worried if they use it as a payment tool because it is illegal.

Spending bitcoin will never be a loss as long as you used it for your own good. And it would be unlikely if we will just be holding bitcoin for the rest of our lives, we should use it more often as a currency because that will help to promote wider adoption in the future. Hopefully, i can also make use of bitcoin to pay in my own country, but for now i am still earning more bitcoin while the market is still giving us opportunity to buy.

As long it would be on purpose then it would really be worth rather than losing those coins in scams or hack then it would be much better if you do have used it on other way even though some people

I got the point, this is an interesting experience. It is not only about the amount that should be paid in BTC when the price was down. But, the chance to buy the phone with BTC itself makes it interesting. Moreover, the owner accepts it without any rejection. In fact, even Bitcoin and crypto is illegal in some country, ti doesn't mean that all citizens in the country will not relate to the crypto industyr. You may have spent more in terms of bitcoin, but you were still able to utilize your coins as is and had the perfect opportunity to do so. But i think OP really needs a new phone badly and good thing the store owner accepts bitcoin as payment even if its illegal in their country. well, I think, nowadays people are aware of bitcoin. in fact, without our knowledge, even the people around us are also using bitcoin without us knowing it. If it is illegal in your country to use bitcoins, the shopkeeper may land in trouble when filing for tax. Also, I believe you haven’t got a bill for your purchase. So, all of this is a drawback of cryptocurrencies right now. I wonder when we will be able to do such transactions normally.

Well, the case of this is only a few right now because we can't really count how many countries banned bitcoin, but now I think he has no problem because he bought it from his colleague and not from a store. If Bitcoin was illegal in their country, they couldn't even use it, so they can do it normally. Because you are complaining about bitcoin, I believe it is illegal in your country.

I don't think if their is any problem for him and the seller using bitcoin as means of transaction , in many countries where bitcoin is illegal people still used bitcoin to purchase many things with bitcoin,  it is something that is common.  What is been serious in most countries that bitcoin is illegal, is that banks don't operate with bitcoin. People still have access to bitcoin to buy whatever thing they may want.

It's a shop so I guess there's a receipt for the purchase. Most shops need to issue receipt for every purchase and I think it's all up to the owner on how he's going to make things up for him when it's come to the tax filing.

A purchase would really need a receipt also for the warranty and other perks for that product.

If you bought the Iphone when the price was high and now the price is low, you eventually spent less number of coins to buy the phone.
Which is a good thing since you will have to spend more number of coins if you bought it at current price.
So whenever you buy something with BTC and the price comes down after that then you are in profits. But in the long run the price increases.
For example if you bought the phone worth $600 at 0.01 BTC at the price of $60k then you would have to spend roughly 0.015 BTC right now for the same phone.
On the other hand, if the price increases to $80k then you can think that you paid $800 for a $600 phone.

Don’t let yourself to be forced to doing something which you would end up regretting later. IPhone 13 costs a lot of money, and having to part ways with such an amount of money from your Bitcoin wallet is quite huge, so it’s likely that you would regret using your Bitcoin to buy the phone if it’s something that you never planned for.

You could have easily told the seller that you’re short on cash at the moment and would be coming back later to buy the phone. If you want you can still fund your crypto wallet with extra money if you intend to using it to buy the phone, by then you must have had more thought on it on whether you want to do it or not, simply pay with Fiat.

I am sure, OP is happy to have an iPhone. Although he had a lack of fiat money at that time and he was able to spend his bitcoins to get the iphone.

But thinking that it will create higher value in the coming days, months or years, so most wise investors prefer to hold it than spend it at its current value. But i believe even if we always witness that bitcoin has potentials to grow in value, we should also use it as a currency because that is its main reason why it has been invented in the first place.  So i'm glad OP that you see it that way. Bitcoin should never be kept the whole time, it should also be used as a currency to speed up its own adoption.

Luckily for you, you can still use bitcoin to buy things in your country that bans bitcoin, which shows that your country's control of cryptocurrencies is not very strict. What is happening is that people use Bitcoin, it does not officially declare it in their business for fears to penalties.

It happened to me something similar as Op:
I was buying a phone to give a family member and the seller knows me that I use BINANCE APP and asked me if I wanted, I could pay the phone sending crypto from Binance Pay.

I did not make the payment with crypto because I had already exchanged my local currency. But on another occasion I will do the test to pay with Bitcoin or any other crypto.

Sometimes, you also have to consider spending crypto because its definitely its real purpose, to act as a currency and the way we are seeing it that its better to hold them for long defeat its real purpose. I'm glad OP has made his part. But i suggest, that if we try to use crypto to purchase something, see to it that its market value is also high as we won't be regretting selling our bitcoin in low value because its conversion rate is certainly low too. However, emergency cases is exceptional. You need to spend crypto when you think you can't afford it in fiat.
