Title: MINERIUM ERC20 SCAM ALERT!!!!!!! [on polygon]
Post by: crashedanon on February 03, 2022, 12:42:26 PM
I have received some unknown ERC20 tokens in my metamask wallet and I am pretty sure I have not participated in an airdrop or been promised to receive it from any ofother sources.

However I found their BITCOIN TALK profile -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4495159

Here's a link to their polygonscan -> https://polygonscan.com/token/0x0b91b07beb67333225a5ba0259d55aee10e3a578?a=0x2b8bA4db26462199a198C604Ec7DAcb06ab2C4b6

Also please suggest a way to remove these tokens from my metamask and alternative security checks.

Also, I request you to check your metamask and scan for this token in your wallet.

IF I AM WRONG ABOUT THIS, PROVE IT

It is token dusting, never interact with tokens like that, or your wallet will be hacked. Minereum dusting is not only in Polygon but also in BSC, just ignore tokens like that.

I do not remember interacting with any of such as previously I have suffered a phishing attack, wherein I lost a small amount of MATIC token, I cannot keep changing my wallet address as it is linked to my smart contract which needs to be operated by the address only.

Suggest an alternative method.

Not a new case to be honest as I've received tokens in the past too but I just let it sit there, ignore it at all. You can move this on the scam accusations board as it's more appropriate to be posted there. Most token dusting activities aren't new to Ethereum network and even on other networks like Tron it's more common there but I just ignore it.

They have announced new contract addresses here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4495159.msg58641782#msg58641782).

Also please suggest a way to remove these tokens from my metamask and alternative security checks.

Use this method (https://metamask.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058451852-How-to-remove-a-token) to remove token from metamask. And it should be noted, this method only excludes this token from appearing in the metamask. If you view your address in explorer or import your address to another wallet, minereum will still be visible. Minereum tokens are not actually removed from your wallet until you send them to another address.

I've received a lot of fake tokens in Polygon network so this is not a new case and you're not the only one who have experience like this OP.
Better not to waste anytime trying to withdraw that funds because most probably they will scam your whole wallet. Ignore those tokens at all cost, they cannot harm you anyway if you just let stay in your wallet because you can't really do anything about it. Move this to scam accusation thread to warn other people as well.

Actually the minereum already exists in several networks now but the very strange thing is that the token can't be sold at all and can't be removed from anyone's wallet, even though it goes into the wallet by itself, so it's true as you say that this is a trap of scammers
If I am not mistaken, the owner of Minereum needs to upgrade their account to level 3 by paying some BNB so they can transfer Minereum to other wallets or sell it later. So if they do not upgrade the account, you can not do anything but the token is still there and does not know when people can sell it. But I do not know if Minereum is available on the Polygon network too because I do not have it and do not follow the project.

-snip-
It's dusting.

The contract token has been set up to send your asset to the scammer if you approved the contract, how the dusting work? every time you make a transaction on the chain they will send the token automatically to your wallet. So, even you change the wallet address you will always get a scam token because right now that is the dusting work scam token.

The best advice, just ignore no need to approved or check a random token you are receiving/don't know. You should be fine, I have more than 20-30 spam/scam token and just ignore them until now never get hacked.

If that wallet address is very important to you then leave those tokens sleeping in your wallet, scammers intentionally send them out to unknown victims like you waiting for you to try and sell those tokens, you have no idea how big this scam trap is..

This method is only to delete the token if it has been added to the metamask, if it has not been added then this token is not in the list of tokens in the metamask. I think there is no way to delete every token in explorer other than dumping it on the burn address.

What needs an upgrade is minereum on the ETH network, I've never heard of an upgrade for the BSC network. However, there seems to be no clarity on the ETH network either, I have never seen anyone upgrade, maybe because they are afraid because this is token dusting on BSC and Polygon.

Correct, but I'd rather not interact on it and just leave it as it should be on the wallet besides it doesn't do much to harm my other assets. If you care too much about potential hacks I guess you move other assets you have on your wallet to another wallet and forget the wallet that has these dust tokens. Haven't interacted on it like sending it on a burn address since I may not know what's gonna happen and one thing is it will just cost gas especially if it's in ERC20, the cost for dumping it isn't worth it.

Just don't touch the tokens you doubt. There are a lot of people who received these tokens that came to you just like that, they can't be sold there you need to buy levels. This is a pretty old project and works on all popular blockchains. But there is no sense in it anymore, you can just not waste your time.

Also, I request you to check your metamask and scan for this token in your wallet.
The only way not expose your keys is to not interact with the contract in any way, and the only way to remove the tokens from your metamask is to interact with the contract by sending the tokens out.
So the only way to be safe is to just leave the tokens there, you can turn its display on metamask off so that it won't show among the listed tokens on your metamask interface, but know that when ever you view your address on bscscan, polygonscan or etherscan, the tokens will always be there, but it doesn't stop you from carrying out your day to day transactions on your wallet.

I always interact on ETH, BSC and Polygon network, there are always dust tokens that are sent automatically without knowing the source but I will ignore it because it can't do anything to those tokens, it's only on the lowest list in all network explorers and doesn't interfere with valuable tokens others in one address.

Minereum or Minerium I'm confused here, anyways none of the above are legit to begin with they are scam, all I can say is don't try claiming what you never worked for this is the easiest way people get scammed, nothing comes for free always remember that.

that's minereum. they are creating their token in several networks -bsc, polygon aside from eth, whichever is the emerging network in the market. you can't remove it from your wallet unless you will transfer it to another wallet. which for me is not worth it because you will pay for gas fees for nothing. so just ignore and let it stay.
their marketing model is usually, you need to pay certain fees in order to level up like level 1, 2 or 3, and only level 3 where you can sell what you mined but quite expensive as your roi will take years in most cases. and who knows? by that time, that project is already dead. so it is up to you if you will pay and level up. this is not compulsory so no worries for those users who received it.

There's no way to remove them without you doing it. So what you have to do if you want that to be removed is to transfer that to another wallet and if it's an ERC20 then you have to spend some ETH for the gas fees. And as we know with the fees lately, they're quite expensive and it's not worth it to transfer some of these dust tokens to any wallet that will serve you as your dust token trash bin. If you're not willing to spend some eth for the gas fee, you just keep it there as good as it is and ignore it totally.

the token is locked by the contract owner. as far as i know minerum was a scam token. thhe creator of this token (owner of minerium thread was scamming so many people in the past). there's no way to remove it other than try to ignore it. as long as you have not touched it and you're fine. minerium creator was making massive airdrop to create awareness but this just only trap by him to rob people's money. i have seen so many complaints about this as well. be careful.

For minerium it's not new and I also got minerium tokens in the ERC wallet at that time and the tokens were circulating randomly without us following them for their marketing purposes and if you are interested in selling the tokens then you have to upgrade the wallet first but if you don't like it just ignore it and so far my wallet is still pretty safe even though i get tokens like that.

Apart from the polygon network, minereum is also available on the erc20 and bsc networks...

I have several erc metamask wallets and they transferred a lot of minereum but I never paid attention to the token because I know it is a soft scam, where if we connect our wallet with their smart contract then we will lose the assets in our wallet without our knowledge.

there's no way to remove MNE from your wallet. the scammer was distributed locked MNE. dont worry. as long as you never touch it or try to send it anywhere and you re good. scammer was only taking the advantage of it. so many people ate receiving this airdrop and me too. that only a marketing trick to attack people to know how to unlock the tokens and paid the fees to the scammers. this scammer is so shady as fuck. garbage token mne. it's also possible for dusting attack

Be wary of scams like this, I often hear cases of people's wallets being stolen because they are too easy to connect to on unknown sites, very cheap transaction fees are used for people to cheat, maybe he chooses wallets at random and hopes there are victims.

This was one of the very first token I traded when I was still a beginner in 2017. I can't believe this token still exist after their failed attempt to launch a new business model which started in Ethereum.

~
where if we connect our wallet with their smart contract then we will lose the assets in our wallet without our knowledge.
Isn't that ironic? How would you authorize your wallet to connect without knowing what functions you are approving?

I have this token in my Ethereum address, I also have this in my Binance address, and now on Polygon but I don't mind it at all, I long know this when Minerium was airdropping this shitcoin, I wonder why you receive it when you did not participated in, I once participated using two address in Ethereum, and I have it in my Binance chain and Polygon chain with the same address, so if you participate in Ethereum airdrop you'll also get it in Binance and Polygon chain with the same address, I regret participating in this airdrop.
Just ignore it don't spend a fee just to get rid of it.

That is a huge amount, change your wallet because using that same wallet might exposure you to scammers, one thing about this Minerium token is that it is listed on Coinmarketcap so make it seems legit but it is not. If you have no experience you will think it is trading and get trapped in scam or fraud foem the projects. Tokens should not be allowed to send coins automatically to use unless we approve of it. They should just be unconfirmed and if we want to recieve we allow it enter our wallet, so doing we will be prevented from getting dustcoins.

If because of ignorance in the past it is still very reasonable, but unfortunately those who already know this still insist on sending it to another wallet, even though it is clear that this is a scam and a trap deliberately made by irresponsible people.

This token is a complete scam.  Those who have done this have done a kind of cheating in crypto.  Because this token has been given to almost everyone and it has also given a huge price.  However, it cannot be transacted from one wallet to another.  It cannot be swapped from any Exchanger.  It's nothing but dirt.  This is a completely fake token.  So no one will fall into the trap of scam.  Everyone be careful.

I guess it's not new at all, because Menereum tokens are present in Erc20. bep20 and Polygon, that's why it's better to ignore it, it will not harm your wallet if you just ignore it, we must accept that nowadays some people are just doing that airdrop by just collecting our wallets in the blockchain so it's better to leave and forget it.

It looks like it is token dusting, the most important thing is never to interact with the coin it is very dangerous. I believe this is intentionally done to steal your assets when you are off guard. Ignore the dusting token, if you feel insecure, immediately move your assets to a new wallet without touching the dusting token.
when we move our assets to a new wallet then we are also not spared from rotten tokens like that.
The most important thing is that we don't make transactions. even though they are in our wallets and more and more like trash. still, be careful if you want to send tokens. the trash is everywhere. we really can't avoid them all.

If you don't know where a token comes from that is suddenly appearing on your wallet then i would advice you to never interact at all with that token. Don't send it anywhere, don't stake it, don't do anything. I have seen reports of people that somehow lost control over their wallets once they interacted with suspicious tokens like Minereum for example, if that is true and technically even possible, i don't know but it is definitely wise not to take the risk to try it out. I also have Minereum on my BSC-wallet, but not on my ERC-20 wallet, which makes sense as the transaction fees of BSC and Polygon are so low that the scammers can afford to just sent their coins to almost everyone.

But yeah who knows maybe you forgot that you participated some of their events around the internet.? Lol because to be honest when i was a bounty hunter i don't know where my token came from because usually when it comes bounty the distribution of the rewards took how many months and most of them still don't have value until now. ;D
