Title: Thread read only?
Post by: I_am_Anonymouse on February 05, 2022, 07:21:24 AM
Hello. Sorry if this is also covered elsewhere, I am new here.
The thread I created has been deleted (probably) and I cant find it anymore. Not even by searching with my name or subject. Why did that happen? I want to start a new series of NFT related posts under a single locked thread that's why I am asking.

This takes me to my second question.

Can one make a thread read only? I know there is the option to lock it and unlock it at will, but is this the only option? Meaning, can't one have it locked all the time, so its like sort of an announcement thread, that everybody can read, but only the owner of it can post?

Thanks for your time folks.

Problem 1.
I don't find anything removed. You can go to your own profile (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile) and on the bottom area you'll see link to your posts and topics started.
I think that the NFT topic may have been moved if it was posted initially into a wrong place.
If you still don't find it, you can use this 3rd party website (https://ninjastic.space/search?author=I_am_Anonymouse) to find your posts, including the removed ones.

Problem 2.
Since lock/unlock solves the problem, I don't see any good reason to implement something extra. I guess that those who created the forum thought the same.
So no, there's no "read only" option. Make your post in notepad, unlock, paste, lock back.

Answer 1: Maybe because it contains things that should not be in the post, for example referral links, etc. Each board has a pinned topic/s about specific rules, you should read that before making a post.

Answer 2: Added the suggestion from @NeuroticFish. Apart from locking the thread, you can start a self-moderated thread. So you can delete other users' replies. However, some boards such as ANNs boards (Altcoins) have a bumping thread feature. You need sufficient other user posts to keep topics near the top. Read more here... Can one make a thread read only?

Why make a topic for reading? So that you copy from the Internet, and we read your copy? What is the purpose? We can search for the articles we need on the Internet.
You do not write yourself, but created a self-moderated topic? What for? To change or delete something afterward.
Read the rules, OP.

You don’t seem to have any deleted posts/threads. I checked your posts here (https://loyce.club/archive/members/276/2761290.html), to check for any deleted one, and all archived posts there seem to currently also exists on the forum itself.

Are you sure it’s not this one?:

It's visible here in your posting history, if that’s the one you are on about:

A thread cannot be read only for others, so you’ll have to lock/unlock/lock the thread if need be. Nevertheless, they should normally be open to participation so others can chip-in and or ask questions about the topic.

This theme is copied from start to finish. Why does he need self-moderation? What else does he want to close for reading?

Maybe your thread is not constructive enough that most of the threads like that are deleted  by moderators. It may have been moved in another board that suits the topic you have in your thread. Anyway, I checked your profile and I only saw 4 posts in total and two of it is in this thread of yours and the other two is in locked XBY ann thread. Well, you have said it in op that it is probably deleted. Plagiarising content to make it as your own will get your account banned as it is frowned upon on this forum. I suggest stop plagiarising content that are not yours.

Looks like someone has reported him, he's already auto-banned by a Mod, it's logged in the forum's deletion log: Archive: bitcointalk.org/modlog.php (https://web.archive.org/web/20220206035942/https://bitcointalk.org/modlog.php#:~:text=Autoban%20user%3A%20N/A%20in%20topic%20%230%20by%20member%20%232761290)
