Title: Nostalgia: Your first post in this forum
Post by: Despairo on February 20, 2022, 02:49:24 PM
I've seen so many great posters in this forum, they almost never wrote any false point in their posts. Of course this because people getting matured and learn from his past, though a shitposter is still a shitposter and nothing changed. So, I was wondering what does their first post in this forum, it seems awkward or funny to read our first post eh? :D This thread isn't to mocking or embarrassing someone, no one is never doing anything wrong his entire life, again this is just for nostalgia to see where your journey started.

Let's start with mine.

Good day everyone,

First, I'm new about this forum, but I not new about bitcoins. I'm bitcoin enthusiast who live in Malaysia.
My knowledge about bitcoin is not very well, but at least I know what is bitcoin, how bitcoin work and many basic things about bitcoin.

On 2 months ago, I create a mini seminar with my friend to share and educating about bitcoin. I'm really not expected there are so many people in my country is interested about bitcoin. I'm so nervous since it's my first seminars and I'm not too good about public speaking.

For the beginner or newbie who want to learn about bitcoin, I'm recommending to watch a video animation like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4g1XFU8Gto . After you understand, you can try reading this websites https://www.bitdegree.org/tutorials/how-does-bitcoin-work/ and bitcoin whitepaper https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

I really advice to learn about security and avoid from scammer first. In digital there are so many phishing websites, fake wallet, high return invesment, ponzi and pyramid scheme want to scam us. Because there are so many people scammed from that's kind scam. You can read many scams in bitcoin here https://bitcoin.org/en/scams#pump-and-dumps

This is the picture in my mini seminars https://ibb.co/Rh2H3Bc
Sorry I edit it because I don't want to expose their face to public

That's all about my story, and I want to ask about this forum

1. Does this forum have Malaysia local board? Like Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Spanish, etc. Because I haven't seen any Malaysia local board here and I want to contribute knowledge to my local and this forum
2. What's all rules in this forum? Do all the rules in this post? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0
3. Can I promote this forum to my friends and many bitcoin enthusiasts to join this forum? Because this forum is the best bitcoin forum who I ever saw

I hope my post is not wrong. Thank you for the response  :)
I'm introducting myself as Bitcoin enthusiast in my country, Malaysia and ever conducting a mini seminar to teach about basic of Bitcoin. Many people was really interested about Bitcoin and some even blackmailed me begging for satoshis lol, yeah I accept the risk. Also it's really sad on my local board isn't huge like other local board, but it's what it's.

Now this is Satoshi's first post.

What about theymos?
I thought BitCoin only generated in 50 coin increments, but I got 50.44 here.

I don't completely understand, but it seems theymos get an additional fees from large Bitcoin transactions. Oh yeah young theymos spelled Bitcoin is BitCoin ;D Sorry theymos.

For a newbie, your first post is really impressive. Unlike most people who come to Bitcointalk, you already had solid knowledge about Bitcoin before coming here, while most people who come to Bitcointalk is complete newbie.
My first post is nothing to be proud of. But if you already asking, ok, I'll quote:
Sparkling mineral water and coca cola
It's one-liner reply on 74th page of off-topic thread ''My favorite drink is...........''
Short story behind this post - when I signed up here, I had very limited knowledge about Bitcoin. So, I was a bit afraid to post in main boards because I thought that if I will say something wrong, older members will mock me. But it never happened. Now when I look at my first posts here, it's similar feeling like to look at your own photos on Facebook which were made 10 years ago.

Yes, below is my first post on this forum where a good wallet was one of my questions at the time. I learned a lot from friends [hear stories, find out his experiences] and also read a lot about bitcoin knowledge so I had to verify it with the community so I really believe something is true.

Did you think my first post was impressive enough? LOL

Is the Electrum wallet really one of the best recommendation for bitcoin newbie ?
Tell me what is the reason. Currently I am still using an android phone for daily need and browsing this bitcoin forum.

Man, you're telling me!  When I joined the forum back in 2015, I knew next to nothing about what exactly bitcoin is or what set it apart from previous iterations of digital cash not sanctioned by the government (like Flooz (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flooz.com), which I've mentioned a few times over the years).  And of course I knew nothing about mining, the P2P decentralized nature of crypto, and a lot of other important attributes--I was so ignorant, you might be wondering how I found the forum, why I registered, and why in hell did I stick around so long.

I'm not going to go into all of that, but this was the first post I could find on my profile after un-ignoring a lot of sections.  I think I'd posted before April of 2015, so maybe someone can set me straight on that.  Here it is:

The cessation of coin production likely won't happen in any of our lifetimes.  Contrary to what you wrote, it isn't too expensive to mint coins (in general).  In the US, this is true for nickels and pennies but not the other denominations.  And as someone else said, precious metals will still be highly valued and so people will still collect coins, even if they were to stop being minted.

Look at the newspaper industry.  Look at stamp collecting.  The world is a tough nut and manages to keep going despite technological advancement.

Nothing spectacular, wasn't written while I was in a signature campaign, and certainly wasn't as troll-ey as a lot of my early posts were.  I was a bitcoin skeptic back then but was a little familiar with the forum, as I'd lurked for months before joining.  I knew how bad the discussion was in general but didn't quite know why that was (sig campaigns), and I used to ridicule some idiots pretty harshly.  Maybe my earliest posts got deleted!

Actually, I just heard bitcoin earlier from my friend. He told me that this website functions like "reddit" (since I always use reddit) but in a more serious manner. Been searching some information about this and it actually caught my attention.

I posted this message back in 2017, not knowing that this forum was much different and complex than reddit. I used to read articles and do research on threads on reddit, that is why that became my point of comparison when I first replied here.

Looking back in 2017, the opportunities that this forum provided is just unreal. It provided me an opportunity to purchase my books for my education in college; and it somehow helped my family financially where I used some of my BTCs to purchase some household things.

It is expected that you will be ignorant of the above mentioned, looking at the time you joined the forum. You are an early adopter and as of when you joined, only a few had ample knowledge of bitcoin.

I really applaud you and other users that have been here for more than 5 years. It is not easy to witness different generations of newbies, some with awkward behaviours and yet you remain in the forum and contributing actively to the growth of the forum.
I noticed that most old users of the forum on the long run become skeptical about new generation newbies.

Your first post in the forum was not looking like a novice and it was not a shit. No wonder you have no business with shit posters  ;D

It's good ;D

I wasn't expecting you have a friend that know the difference between custodial and non custodial wallet, most people will recommend custodial (e.g. exchanges) I remembered my friends suggest to use Binance or Sinegy (my local exchange) as wallet lol. Your friends must be a techy person and know Bitcoin from a long time I guess.

That's a long journey and yet 13 years Bitcoin still surviving until now is making you believe Bitcoin is legit. Well that's discussion is similar like Bitcoin replaced Fiat in the future, and someone is right about the collector will collecting physical Bitcoin to adapt new technology.

Well, I'm overwhelmed to hear your past experience... I think this forum saved many people especially in financial, many campaign paid very well if the participants live in third world countries, they can survive by just posting in this forum.

im a nobody but this could be fun so here is my 1st post

Can anyone explain CUDA to me?  From what I gather its just a seperate way of computing data for nvidia cards...but do I need to "activate" it everytime I use it or is it an "install and be lazy" solution?

CUDA is nvidias language for talking to its cards when you want the card to crunch data (as opposed to displaying a scene in a video game). basically its a set of rules on how to get data to the card, what to do with it, and how to get it out.

its a "install and forget" deal.

I completely forgot what my first post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1098291.msg11869571#msg11869571) was about, and it turns out that it was only one business offer - back in 2015 solving captchas and claims on faucets was something completely normal for every beginner. Anyone who looks at the linked thread will notice some famous names, but that was almost 7 years ago - time really flies.

Lol, I'm definitely not an early adopter of bitcoin.  If I was, I'd be filthy stinking rich by now instead of living in a hovel like some deranged monk.  The real early adopters are the ones who were mining bitcoin on their laptops and GekkoScience USB sticks and thereby generating huge amounts of BTC.

It is not easy to witness different generations of newbies, some with awkward behaviours and yet you remain in the forum and contributing actively to the growth of the forum.
I noticed that most old users of the forum on the long run become skeptical about new generation newbies.
It's definitely been an interesting experience, and in addition to seeing a lot of new members with wildly different personalities I've seen some very large personalities leave the forum for various reasons, and it's the latter that changes the dynamics of bitcointalk more dramatically.  You can really feel the absence of a member like Vod or TECSHARE or Bruno.

That's a long journey and yet 13 years Bitcoin still surviving until now is making you believe Bitcoin is legit. Well that's discussion is similar like Bitcoin replaced Fiat in the future, and someone is right about the collector will collecting physical Bitcoin to adapt new technology.
Yeah, before I joined the forum I pretty much never thought I'd be passionate about bitcoin--and yet here I am in the present day, and it takes up space in my head for most of my waking hours.  And boy, I wish I'd bought some of those old physical bitcoin coins and some other stuff like the print edition of bitcoin magazine....oh well.

You're the oldest post among us here, that's when GTX460 is really incredible with it's performance, now it's really slow and almost can't be used anymore. 11 years is really have so much change on technology.

It's when faucet can be considered as true real money, 0.008 BTC is worth around 300 USD right now. Now it's really time wasting to collect faucet, you can only collect 1-100 satoshi(s) every hour... if Bitcoin reach $100K probably the faucet only generate 1-10 satoshi per hour.

Actually this is the first time I know there's an another centralized exchanges was shutting down due to got hacked, I only know the Mt.Gox story and it has a plan to refund the money. Does your money still stuck there and no update anymore?

Damn cool idea 8) It will be interesting to read the first posts of old forum users.
That's was the purpose of this thread, I want to remind people especially the early adopter to see his first post... it's just funny and touched in the same time.

It's good collectibles, for me physical Bitcoin is more worthy and expensive rather than NFTs :)

I remember that even then the general opinion was that it was a waste of time, but in a way, it was true then - with a BTC price of just over $200, even 0.01 per day it was only $2. With a good faucet rotator and some referrals, I was able to earn as much as 0.005 BTC in 1-2 hours. The good thing is that I saved most of the coins for the years that followed, and I even have some today :D

I don't even know how to tell the difference between spam and not and you might not believe that I was completely clueless when I signed up in 2018. Actually it's not funny but it's a little silly. LOL

Berarti jika postingan hampir-hampir sama dengan yang telah diposting orang lain postingan kita dikategorikan ke spam ya bang ?

But since my learning interest was quite good at the time, it helped me gain more understanding about the forum and also about bitcoin. Our local community was also quite strong at that time and I often consulted with them about something I had a hard time understanding. When I remember their contribution to me then I really have to thank them because without them I would never be who I am today.

I get started here as a "Bounty Hunter". I think telling this is not any merit. When I get started to explore this forum I just stop hunting bounties and started to learn something new . For now if I just doing some signature that's all. But I remember when I just get started as a bitcoin enthausist and post here .

It's very typical questions.
What do you thinks about your country's currency. How they actually work? Isn't it just a paper then why we value them most? It's not a beautiful things to keep for us. In physical asset like gold its has value cause Gold has a limited supply. Then why do we prefer a fiat currency which we can just print anytime. Actually money which is printed its not decreasing every year it's increasing.

It was my first post when I get realized this forum is not just made for hunting bounties but also I can learn from it and share my knowledge to other's

It seems that my first post about Bitcoin was about scam altcoins, but I don't remember what caused it.
Generally it is rare to find someone who has made good posts when they joined the forum unless they are technically acquainted with Bitcoin or at least have an alternate account.

In general, the conclusion is that recent posts and continuing to participate without a paid signature mean that the person wants to exchange knowledge more than to earn money or keep posting good posts/knowledge sharing..

My first post is quite embarrassingly bad: on an off-topic board, posting with bad quoting and a cringey signature “F1” like my nickname were to be pronounced, Fillipp-1, which is against the official pronunciation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5351302.msg57569817#msg57569817).

ahah
mitico.
f1

We have to go the third post, a few months later, to find something decent:

preface:
I think ALL altcoins are basically worthless.
The point where they differentiate from Bitcoin (protocol choices/hashing algorithm etc..) is actually an inferior one, having been discarded by bitcoin due to security risk/protocol efficiency/ecosystem robustness.
Bitcoin is a huge bet but while I don’ know if in 10 years bitcoin would be worth 1 million or zero (or course I have an idea), I am absolutely sure that in 10 years every present shitcoin (all of them, but bitcoin) will be worth ZERO.

Having said that.
Dominance is the bitcoin market capitalisation over the total market capitalisation of all cryptocurrencies.
When bitcoin was the sole cypto around market dominance was 100%.
You can see a graph of market dominance here:
https://coinmarketcap.com/charts/

In a bull market they tend to rise more than bitcoin: hence in a bull market the bitcoin dominance tends to lower.
Conversely in a bear market those coins tend to drop faster than bitcoin: the bitcoin dominance tends to rise.
Whay that? most altcoins can be traded only versus bitcoin: when market rises avi people tends to sell Bitcoin (larger market cap) to buy smaller cyptos that can be lifted more with less capital influx.
The everse happens ib a bear market where investors, actually scalpers, revert to bitcoin as a safe haven in crypto land, to protect their investment (they cannot sell for fiat in a single trade).

Hope it clarifies!
F1

Which is, by the way, my first merited post here on the forum.
I fully agree with this post today.

My first post in this forum started with an introduction of me coming from a place where they don't allow women to explore their given potential in their society. I always aimed to educate women about crypto in one way I can, and this forum has been helpful to me.
Looking back to how far I have gone, I can gladly say that I started well and there is still more work to be done by me

I understand the point you wrote because both of Bahasa and Malay language is similar. Seems like Bitcointalk was the first forum for you, if someone have ever joined a forum discussion... they're already know spam and plagiarism are the common rules in any forum. However you're learning very well and based on BPIP (https://bpip.org/Profile?id=1903411) you have only 8 posts got deleted by moderators.

That's what a common reply from brand new user :D
Same like your experience, I know Bitcoin when I search about how to earn money on internet and I read faucet is one of the way to earn Bitcoin.

Oh yeah I noticed there's a change from your post history, but you're still a bounty hunter :P Not blame you, I feel bounties is just a worthless coins and wasting time.

Good to know your first post about to warn many members about scam altcoins, it's sad to see how those creator or team want to earn money through scamming. I wouldn't feel peaceful if I'm using a stolen money, though there's no good or bad money, it just about moral.

With few months only you're change a lot, I don't know what does the youtuber discuss, but having mentioned on someone channel is impressive ;)
You've good knowledge, it's true many people are buying altcoins with Bitcoin pair when Bitcoin rises and you mentioned about "10 years later Bitcoin will be worth 11 million or zero" reminds me of Satoshi's post.

I'm sure that in 20 years there will either be very large transaction volume or no volume.
Satoshi, is that you? jk.

Kind of embarrassing to share the post right after I join bitcointalk forum. I do have very very little knowledge about bitcoin when I am introduced to cryptocurrency. All I learn after listening is only the very basic like who is Satoshi Nakamoto, what is bitcoin, what is blockchain, transaction fee or we always say Gas fee when talking personally. I know some neighbors who also know about bitcoin that is why I know about this forum. When I joined the forum, I started post about what I plan like sharing information more likr a service which if someone having hard time to understand about crypto then I will help. This topic remind me of the past on what I was like before :).

An interesting variant of this thread is that of the focusing on the post for which one obtained his first Merit. It doesn't go as far back in history as some of the posts that can figure on this current thread, but it’s another memory lane trip to take. Back in the day, I created a thread as such on (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5339075.0) my local board, prelisting a link to the first merited posts for each merited profile (on my local board).

more than 10 years ago this was my first post in the german sub-section :D
at that time i briefly asked in the thread which was called 'wait or buy now?' if liquidating some of my savings now would make sense to then invest all the € in BTC...
of course i decided a few days later for Bitcoin - and the price history is known until today 8)

hallo,

was haltet ihr davon?

I've got a larger van now, and I'm starting a serious conversion on it. I want to have a nice comfortable lifestyle when I hit my 80th birthday in June. There are lot of interesting new challenges for the future - Bitcoin over LoRa is just one I want to explore. Bitcoin in a changing world power structure is another. I hop that Bitcoin Talk will be an interesting forum to help me explore these and other topics over the next challenging years.

To me this sum ups what bitcointalk is all about - aiding folks new to bitcoin and promoting it too!

~

Also came for a reason.

Craig Wright recently said that bitcoin will never reach $20K. Of course I don't believe him, and the market will probably prove him wrong anyway (again), but why would he say something crazy like this?

A few posts later and I was actually excited of being almost eligible for joining the 777coin campaign  :D (this was before it was mired with extreme payment delays)

When I had some Bitcoin issues, this forum showed up on the search results.

Hi guys,

I am unable to retrieve the (legacy) wallet password for BitGO's BCH's. I have the keycard but I'm unsure if that only applies to BTC since the password didn't seem to work.

So I've emailed support and got the reply that I'm required to submit a scanned copy of the keycard (which holds my wallet private keys).

I'm pretty hesitant to proceed because of this. Anyone been through the same process?

It's very nice to read the history of the first post when you come to this forum, everything looks unique and everything is very fleeting.  And this is my first post in this forumhttps://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1075602.msg11493718#msg11493718 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1075602.msg11493718#msg11493718)

I'm a newbie. I have learned a lot by following your posts. And I can move forward to help you. For a newcomer, your first post is really important.
I can't do anything but come here I read all kinds of posts and try to learn on my own. That way I will slowly move forward. I can't say anything because I think if I say something wrong. But now I have slowly come to know and know a lot.

@OP, you've taken me aback, yeah, and it's a good feeling but unfortunately, remembering my first post now just made me remember the first crypto project I invested in which later turned scam and it was the first money I lost in crypto, so this is to say I lost the first money I invested in crypto ;D, it wasn't funny back then, but remembering it now just made me smile because just remembered how far I've come and learned.

Screenshot below shows my very first four posts where I showed my support for Kuwait coin which was my very first investment in crypto, but it later turned scam and as many of us that invested later lost our money, but the good thing is that I didn't allow that incident discourage me, I later went ahead and invested in other projects which some later paid off at the end.

I think I'd posted before April of 2015, so maybe someone can set me straight on that.  Here it is:

~snipped~

Maybe my earliest posts got deleted!
Yes, you actually posted before April of 2015. I found a couple of your posts before that date but this one below seems like the very first one you made 👇

Hmmm...we'll see.  I'm  new to cryptocoins and am curious as to where this is all heading myself.I didn't buy any until after that parabolic spike.  Feels like the precious metals market almost.

I think I made my first post about an hour after I registered on this forum, except something got deleted. Otherwise this one should be it. It's a wonder why it wasn't a oneliner as I saw a couple other oneliners after it. Sorry I can't quote this particular post here as thread is locked. I uploaded a shot of it instead.

This is my 2nd account, first one was hacked in infamous bitcointalk hack, I remember the post started with 'hello bitcoiners' then I don't remember and ended with asking for donation.

Still cringe to this day.
