Hey guys theres a news article stating that ebay might be accepting Bitcoin and other cryptos, if this happens then I believe itll be a game changer for the crypto world. Not sure how credible the article is , has anyone else heard anything similar. Also there was mention of an announcement on march 10 to confirm this. If positive,  We could see a new high even in these times uncertainty .

If I remember correctly, they are doing this kind of consideration for accepting crypto payment simce 2014 (https://www.cnbc.com/2014/01/23/ebay-considering-accepting-bitcoin-as-payment.html) but never materialize due to the fact that crypto has no refund feature and also its to volatile to use for an e-merchant company since the payment will be released to the seller after the buyer received the item. There’s a chance that the original value will decrease by the time the seller received it. They will use direct fiat converter 3rd party software if ever they will implement this.

Should have posted the link where you read about this. But I have been hearing Ebay will be accepting bitcoin for years, but never saw them make a move or do anything about it. Or it is just one of the "may accept" article. We have been reading this kind of articles a lot. Probably a click bait or articles that are trying to spread FOMO (if its from one of those shitty websites) like those bitgirt articles we are seeing everywhere made by analyticsinsight.

It's already multiple times I heard Ebay want to accept Bitcoin, but the fact there's no real move to realizing that. Last year they did allow NFT trade [1] on their platform without create any rumor or hype, they didn't made any official announcement. I feel they're not brave to take a risk of accepting Bitcoin as alternative, maybe they want to let another big marketplace accept it first e.g. amazon.

Might accept does not mean eBay will accept bitcoin because they need to discuss what benefits they will get from bitcoin and if that can benefit their customers, they will surely accept bitcoin.
I do not expect eBay to accept bitcoin soon but if that really happens to eBay, it will be good news for their customers but I do not use eBay to shop a product.
We can wait for a while as you said they would announce on March 10, to confirm this.

This has been into discussion for long years. In between eBay didn't take any measures to accept bitcoin into the business. Some traders of eBay were accepting bitcoin as payments. Now eBay adding direct payment features with bitcoin will be more interesting. Since 2014 there used to be talks and announcements, but this time everything is happening in the fast phase and a timeline is being mentioned. This assured something good is gonna happen relative with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

I aslo heard about it on twitter post that ebay might be planning to implement crypto payment options from 10^th of March probably but still we need to have proper evidence or say official announcement by the team to prove this is true.If they accept it it would be good and one more big company would be added to the btc adoption list.They can definitely have an impact on prices as they have around 170 million monthly users over this e-commerce site engage in buying and selling goods with million dollar of revenue generated each quarter.So it will be good if they add btc option to list.

2.Isn't eBay losing the battle against Amazon?Who the hell uses eBay nowadays?I've had an eBay account 7 years ago,my experience with this platform was overall bad and my account got permanently banned for no reason(the only reason was making a listing for an expensive product,if I remember this correctly).

Actually, eBay should have been in cryptocurrency a long time ago and I don't know what took them so long. In fact, they should be accepting Bitcoin and maybe even other coins as well before Amazon will finally decide to open its door for cryptocurrency. Maybe they don't realize of the possible goodwill that joining the cryptocurrency movement can be doing for eBay...this is an opportunity they should not let go. Anyway, let's hope that they can do it as soon as possible so that it can also encourage many other eCommerce platforms to do the same.

I heard about that Ebay news few days ago but for now it's only a rumor or maybe they are testing ground to see how people would react to this.
Even if they start to accept Bitcoin directly this would be with some centralized wallet that would charge super high fees and they could ban your account if they detect some suspicious transaction.
My speculation is they will also try to push their own shitcoin in this package since they already allowed trading for NFTs.

i believe what stopping them are various factors such as the volatility factor, which it should not be a big deal if they will convert the crypto right away to usd, the refund feature which has been mentioned already (hard if the payment is in crypto -there will be conversions needed), and other things that a regular user are not familiar of.
but this idea i believe will push thru sooner or later, as other merchants are already using crypto in their payment system. high likely that they are already testing this payment method in their system.

I thought I had read that this wasn't a "might" situation and that they would begin rolling out Bitcoin support on the 10th of this month.  Was that just something I made up in my head?  It seems like there was a lot of publicity and news coverage if it was only a might accept Bitcoin scenario.  Considering PayPal already took this route of implementing some Bitcoin services, it doesn't seem like a stretch that eBay would follow suit.  The question is how their implementation will be on their payment network and if sellers will still be liable for potential chargebacks.  I sort of don't think eBay will implement this correctly because, well, eBay has struggled with payments and scams since the beginning.  It will be a tightrope walk to see if they make that problem better or worse with Bitcoin.

As long there would be no confirmations from Ebay itself then it would just still remain as a rumor.

This will never happen due to a lot of refund requests that they are receiving per day. I worked for ebay for quite some time and lots of refunds were always on queue. It would be hard for them to refund cryptocurrencies since they are already having problems refunding with their own localized paynent system. It would be cool if that certain rumor materialized, but these giant retail companies realized along the way that it wouldn't really work.

I don't think it would become a game-changer even if it did happen? Maybe on Ebays side, sure, but on Bitcoin? I don't think Ebay is still THAT big for it to have that much of an influence.  They're pretty much on a downhill and they're only probably using the possibility of them accepting crypto as a form of exposure. I mean eh, yeah sure it's good for adoption, but that's it, I still don't think it'd change much in the market. The biggest impact imo would always be the first ones, while subsequent ones wouldn't really give that much impact anymore.

I have also heard this news spreading across social media platforms that ebay will accept bitcoin. If this news is true, then it will be a massive step for ebay and it will help bitcoin to become more adopted.
March 10 is just around the corner. We will see the truth in this news on that date. Also if ebay did not accept bitcoin now, it will have to accept it one day. There is no doubt about it.

It's the sixth or seventh time I've heard of this kind of news but I don't think accepting bitcoins will be an event that affects the price (unless they have bought a few thousand of Bitcoins)

PayPal accepted Bitcoin and there was no effect, so how to accept the bitcoin and the possibility of depositing and withdrawing will determine the extent of the impact of the news, although it will not change the price significantly (increase up to 10% to 20%)

that's interesting, online shopping centers are already accustomed to digital transactions in terms of finances, if this happens it might be enough to make a lot of changes. Well sounds like how Paypal used to deny crypto in the past but after years? then Yes they accepted and adopted Bitcoin into their system .
I believe that with this News ? sooner they will be accepting bitcoin then.

Good news? Maybe. But we still need to wait until they've announced it officially and even it's already final and official, we still have to wait if it will drive the market bullish.

It has been spoken for many years that ebay will accept bitcoin, we have been seeing this news for years. Maybe they will give really positive news this time, I don't know, but I don't think it will have a big impact on the price. It will not cause us to see a new ath. If this news is true, it might raise a few thousand dollars, but I don't think it will be more :)

I don't know from where you got this news about eBay because there was already a topic about it months ago and the case was closed because they didn't accept bitcoin as a payment method officially maybe you need to put the link of the article where you got the news from it, or maybe you are talking about the article from Cointelegraph about NFTs and eBay but that does not really mean they will accept bitcoin, however nd regardless of that there are many proxy markets where you can pay with bitcoin and they buy the product from eBay so accepting bitcoin from eBay should be a real problem right now.

You seem to be misunderstanding the whole point of adoption, it is not always about price and bullishness, it is finally seeing btc being accepted to the point you can buy anything with it from anywhere in any online or offline store.
I think it is about time we stop looking at ' what could have, should have ' and just accept every gesture from non-bitcoin organizations to accept and use it to promote service, adoption must start somewhere and can come in different,  the appealing and the not so appealing, in the end the goal is the same.

They had mentioned out about NFT's which means that they could possibly be dealing with the main crypto which is Bitcoin

Until they provide an address or a lightning invoice to send Bitcoin in their checkout it's just rumours.

I reckon much of the people's skepticism is directed to the wrong argument. This is not about if Ebay will accept or not accept bitcoin. Ebay will certainly accept it similar to Paypal did. However, the argument should be if Ebay would be issuing their own token or their own NFTs after accepting bitcoin hehehehe. This is a business tactic to enter the cryptospace and take money from it. The skeptical me thinks that they never cared to support it.

Issuing their own token will be the option to take, it may not accept BTC or ETH at all.
 It's been discussed several times, there were links above since 2014 but nothing so far had done by eBay to accept BTC. In a recent interview when eBay CEO was asked if they'd be adding BTC and ETH, he just said eBay will be a platform for physical or digital but never mention accepting the currencies.

I also read it somewhere in the local newspaper, eBay will accept payments in bitcoin. They say they have been looking for ways to integrate crypto payments for years and now they have almost the end result. Please wait for the official announcement on March 10 from them. The purpose of integrating bitcoin is that they want to attract young users to their platform. If it comes to fruition, this will be good news for the bitcoin community and eBay users.

Even Amazon is not making any move that shows that they are ready to accept Bitcoin at all, despite the rumors in the past that they were going to be accepting Bitcoin as a payment method on their platform. But, one thing I do know for sure is that whether these two choose to accept cryptocurrency or not,  there is still going to be growth, Bitcoin will keep growing and the adoption will keep on increasing, it doesn’t matter whether they would do it or not.

All these years Bitcoin has steady been growing, even when none of these institutions cares about it. So this shouldn’t be seen as any much of a big deal, the market  keep on moving regardless.

Who cares about ebay honestly. I remember reading all about Microsoft accepting Bitcoin (and then they took it off) but that did not do anything for BTC price then. Until and unless a huge site accepts Bitcoin WITHOUT the processors as in,,, directly letting you pay to them with your wallet, accepting Bitcoin is no big deal.

This news may just be another hype to be in the news especially now when bitcoins are trending for the way they have been instrumental for donations for Ukrainians who need relief. Ebay "might accept" is no where close to Ebay "has accepted" which is a better new for the community than just another mere speculation or probability. Cool, but this is not the first time that this is being talked about. This has been said several times, and there was even a time that a lot of people thought that Amazon was also going to be accepting Bitcoin, but they never did, and we also talked about eBay.

We don’t what plans they have all got, but let’s keep looking forward to when they will eventually start to accept Bitcoin as payment. I disagree. The will accept bitcoin, ethereum, dogecoin or any cryptocoin that will give their acceptance the most attention. Much of the community will larp adoption and use their coins to buy something on Ebay only to show everyone the screenshot in social media. After this, what would Ebay do? Issue a ebaycoin hehehehe. This is becoming similar to much of the ICO projects in the cryptospace where they need to issue a token to protect the project. However, issuance is less of utility, more of attention.

Now, I'm doubting whether it's true or not because you're basically doing a hearsay since there's no evidence provided but I'll suspend my belief and think that this is going to be a good thing for the market although I don't know about eBay as anonymity can be a problem there since trolls can do a fake bid or something like that.

The funniest part of this type of article is that the guy who writes the article always says he was in contact with a reliable source in the company, but at the end of the day the company denies the rumor. I keep wondering why these news sites before publishing rumors whose source is a company employee because news sites simply don't ask the top manager if the news is true or false and only after confirming the veracity of the news do the sites of news would post the news, that way they would avoid publishing rumors that days later are denied

I think that it is still uncertain, moreover, so far, eBay is likely always getting this kind of news. I don't know the purpose of this news, this sometimes gives an effect on both, the crypto and eBay itself.
I will better not believe or expect too much because it is not clear enough and still a probability. There may be changes again in the future before they are really taking signs and accepting crypto payments already.
But hopefully, there is something good news again that will be released soon.

I am quite certain the announcement is to hype Ebay. I speculate that their yearly projection might be negative because of the pandemic and what might appear to be another economic recession coming because of the Federal Reserve's attempts to control inflation by increasing interest rates.

I've been reading this too since then but until now, there hasn't been anything to be considered as positive because everything is just a mere plan or just a rumor. If they wanted to do that, they have already done that and might not even publish announcements like the other big companies who suddenly accept cryptocurrencies in their services and stores. right now, we just need to think it as a rumor until they decide to make it real.

Might or has makes no difference to me. Tesla HAD accepted before in the past,,, the same as Microsoft even a long long time ago also HAD accepted in the past but not any of them made a big difference.

People will not rush out to spend their btc to buy electric cars and Windows. That is a fact proven.

Hmm sure why not. Though eBay is not much popular in our country and I think it’s least popular in major parts of the world I think it does not really matter if eBay accepts it or not. I think eBay is far more active in Western Hemisphere rather than opposite one. However there are already plenty of options to choose from even if we want to pay the online shopping sites in crypto. You can simply have binance card or other alt project based CC to make the payments. I don’t know what difference it would make after they launch their own acceptance criteria. Least interested in them. I would be happy if Apple implement this idea.

I think it’s great that eBay may be potentially excepting bitcoin on their platform very soon. I use eBay a lot for buying and selling.

Personally I have already bought with bitcoin on ebay, but only in agreement with the seller, it was not easy, obviously also risky! Only if you know the seller well and have a strong reliability you could do it, at the moment it is only a proposal from a group of users, it is not official, I have heard something about this too, but they have organization and above all security problems. for the buyer if the sale is problematic.

Well, there is a difference: in case of using Binance card, you have to have funds on Binance meaning you are not in the real control of your crypto, no matter how reliable/reputable Binance is. Don't get me wrong, I like their card and I am using it on the regular basis, but I would prefer if there is some better way to sepend my crypto without keeping my crypto in other man's hands.


Yeah that's a good question. People like eBay as they have good customer support & they feel safe buying there so would be interesting it to see how would they solve that issue. Honestly, I don't accept eBay accepting BTC directly peer to peer anytime soon. If/when it happens, first it will be through some 3rd party payment processor.

Glad you've tried already buying tangible item ebay and used bitcoin as a mode of payment. Actually, I am looking for a message where I could see a proof that this kind of transaction in ebay was already taking place since i've search and learned that this was proposed already a few years ago. The one you've encountered so far is what also a question in my mind regarding this and yeah I am also thinking how risky it is and could be one of the reason to you know increase the possibility of scam on the internet. So what I really mean if ebay is truly looking for this one it would be totally challenging for their end.

Well, I think people are excited to see eBay accepts cryptocurrencies. But until there is no final say in regards to adoption, this will remain rumors and that might be YES or NO. But I hope they will as this gains more market attraction for crypto users and holders, and for them to enjoy. They'll somehow look at what could be the impact of this acceptance on their demand and probably increase more buyers.
This is not just an opportunity for them but this become a trend by now which we can't ignore.

Even though that news is circulating, I remain skeptical. None of the major e-commerce platforms has yet adopted cryptocurrencies as a system of payment. In fact, eBay made the first attempt at integrating bitcoin payments, when Bitcoin was still in its infancy, back in 2014. But, they ended up abandoning that plan almost immediately. But that doesn't mean I'm not open to the idea . For one thing, the recent integration of Google Pay and Apple Pay was a great boost for adoption.

If one of the big three e-commerce platforms decided to integrate cryptocurrencies, I think it'd be a major domino that could launch a major trend.

Where did you read this news? Do you have any link to the news where we can check how reliable is this information? Personally, i  would like Ebay to accept bitcoin but i would not believe this news unless it came from the official eBay channel. How many times in the past we have seen such false news and then after a few days we hear from companies' official accounts that there was no truth in the news and it was just the rumor spread publicly.

According to an interview with eBay CEO Jamie Iannone just a few days ago, and as reported by TheStreet, eBay CEO said the company might announce something on March 10 during their "investors day".

You can still get your money back. However, unlike PayPal or credit cards, which can only be refunded by the banks, this is not the case. Although the person who received the money should be able to refund it, and we could create a system to do so if we wanted to, we can clearly see that they have already received it because of the transaction hash, and this isn't a major issue. The fees and how to deal with the violations are the main issues, as they are the primary reason why merchants are experiencing difficulties accepting bitcoin as a payment method.

News that Ebay will start accepting bitcoins appears every year. But I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen. Many companies are already officially using bitcoin, so why shouldn't a major marketplace join them. I just don't understand the pricing mechanism, if for example I have to make a refund, will I get back the whole amount in bitcoins I paid or will there be a conversion?

Real life experience is if you don't spend the money then you don't get them in the first place.

Even if eBay decided to accept cryptocurrency payments, it would likely be through their custodial wallets. If there is a refund or chargeback, eBay would simply be able to freeze the funds in the account, just like PayPal. eBay will essentially act as an escrow in these situations.

Not only existing eBay users are going to be happy because they saw more options to pay but we that are non-eBay users are going to feel the same because this adds up to the adoption. For now, this can be a FUD because no legit source confirms it but this brings excitement and who knows, maybe eBay customers are now preparing for this and they will now buy btc while non-eBay users are going to buy more BTC as well because they assume that once eBay finally accepts btc, btc price will then pump.

Crypto is now in the mainstream, more people are now using it so this partnership can make their sales higher than usual. I'm sure they are going to consider this soon.

If you're going to state such a claim the very least you could and should do is include a link to the relevant article, not wait for someone to respond with a link for you. Nonetheless it is a very interesting development and could herald much wider publicity for Bitcoin and will certainly encourage more buyers if they see a big outlet where they can spend on products. Amazon seemed to be flirting with the idea of allowing Bitcoin for a time but then all went quiet. To have such a huge retailer on board would be a huge boost to the eco system, but we need to be wary of hailing it as good news because Paypal managed to do the same but set it up in a really manipulative manner (no external transfers, they had all the control)

There has been a lot of talks about that in the past and so far nothing has materialized, however I hope that eventually happens, as personally I am the kind of person that likes to save and you can find some really good used goods there that are as good as new for a cheap price, if I could use my bitcoin to buy on their platform it would be great for me and several other people that think the way I do, also it would have been nice if you actually put the source of that information on your post so we could see how reliable is the rumor.

Yeah, and only I have to believe if that they will finally decide to accept. There is a statement from the CEO that this coming March 10 they announced it, just a few days from now and it obviously makes people think, "this is it". But anyways, whether they accept it to not, eBay customers will still make use of their services. The only thing that excites others, especially crypto users is for them to have another option aside from fiat.

I believe some of these big companies like ecommerce giants will sooner or later add crypto in the payment method. They maybe hesitant because of some factors like volatility but it seems that the benefits are not outweighing those factors. They are seeing that crypto is the next generation when it comes to payment system. And if they will not join this new system, they will be left behind.

When ebay has officially adopted Bitcoin this will be positive news that will have a good effect on Bitcoin. Ebay is not the first time that it has made a statement to start accepting Bitcoin. In 2014 Ebay had tried to integrate Bitcoin Payments, but it was not clear what happened next. They are more concerned about the NFT space although still considering other crypto currencies but it's a game of possibility not a certainty.
But if it can be considered it will be a big boast on the crypto industry. So far we have had other big investments like Tesla and many others who have crypto payment options making the adoption even more swift and payment gate diversified not just restricted to fiat any longer link (http://In an interview with CNBC, Chief Executive Officer Jamie Iannone said that accepting virtual currency was an option the company was looking at.

Isn't this kind of attitude what we are waiting for from all entrepreneurs in the world.  By freeing payment options that are not only limited to fiat.  Because after all, the long adoption of Bitcoin has been hampered by the prohibition of transactions other than using fiat.  Though it's not a bad choice, crypto provides an increase in value whereas fiat contributes to a decrease in value.  So Ebay is enough to become entrepreneurs in the main ranks later if it is really realized.

Exactly, we have been hearing this kind of rumor in the past and until now it's still not happening. So for me, I would not expect too much about this rumor but I will remain optimistic that one day the number 2 biggest online shop in the world will start accepting crypto.

Could be, if these news have a confirmation from eBay. Even though reputed news agencies post that eBay is interested in accepting cryptocurrencies, this is still rumors. It is a known fact that eBay is always searching for new way to attract customers and develops, but right now they just "consider" to accept Bitcoin. It would be strange if they dont discuss that option, since cryptocurrency has already spread all over the world. What I am saying, that considering does not equals planning or accepting.

The effect will happen when this comes reality , but as long as this is just another waiting time then there will be no even small effect to the price of bitcoin.

Just MIGHT but I'm too positive that they will accept Bitcoin. As their announcement said that they will inform everyone by March 10, kinda be exciting and full of hope.

But in the instance that they accept Bitcoin, people will get happy then. I could assume that their clients are waiting for this to happen especially those crypto users. As they are going to adopt this technology, the more possible it boosts the demand and more profit which I think that was one reason of this attempt.

               Tired of eBay saying such things over and over without actually acting on it. They've been like this since forever. I really don't know what's good ng on with the heads of its developers but I think they only do it whenever bitcoin does well. As to reasons why, maybe because they want the publicity. Even more so nowadays that bitcoin is the talk of the majority. But hey, who knows though. Maybe this time they'd really do it considering the huge increase of the people jumping into crypto currencies. I won't get my hopes up that much about this tho, not anymore.

The reason is that, there are news places that keep on promoting this as a flash news on crypto related parts of their newspaper.
In fact, we have known this for a long time and it is true that they are working on it as well. They want to make sure that they have a good base before they release something like that.

But it is just an option, you can deposit, withdraw, buy, sell with crypto and that requires time if you are not going to use some third party app. This resulted with each and every step they take, every time they are getting closer and finishing another task or a milestone, that becomes a news and people write about it and share that with public.

Isn't a simple process for them to do it, they have to figure out the legislation and the taxes for all the users who decide to pay with cryptos.

Looks like tomorrow will be the day that we were waiting for.

There seemed to be a whole lot of certainty around the March 10th announcement date for a rumor.  It will be interesting to see if anything comes of it, or if it was just made up by someone and spread like wildfire.  I guess we'll find out in 24 hours.  With PayPal getting into Bitcoin though, it seems logical that eBay would follow suit in order to try and stay up to date with the latest payments technology. 

Whether eBay implements Bitcoin is less interesting to me than how they would implement it.  Are they going to make you deposit your BTC and then use their wallet?  Are they going to allow disputes and chargebacks?  Will the BTC be credited as USD when you deposit it, or will it sit in your wallet as BTC?  Will you be able to trade to earn income from price volatility or is it just a platform to transfer BTC to other users.  All of these questions will effect whether eBay is good for crypto, or just larping. 

Ebay has made several advances in terms of having a variety of acceptable ways to pay ever since they parted ways with Paypal and if bitcoin will help it grow its user base and grow the company....then I don't see a reason why they wouldn't consider adding bitcoin to their existing payment methods but this been a one way street with no chargebacks available this could be an option for established sellers or maybe these funds will have to go into an escrow for a longer period to keep their buyer/seller protection going...

Ebay still isn't accepting BTC yet ? i remember reading articles way back in 2017 about them considering to accept btc. i mean they will have to accept it eventually

It's the same with PayPal before that it's just a "might" but eventually they have adopted it. Although it's a different thing with PayPal and its adoption still, they've included bitcoin on their platform. It's going to be the same with ebay and other companies that "might" adopt bitcoin in the future. We'll just notice in the upcoming years that they have already adopted it. It's okay to not hope for it but when the time comes that they've adopted, we'll see it.

NFTS are already being sold on EBAY but I think they need more publicity so that users show more interest in trading on the platform. I think EBAY needs to reinvest in a new design and build a cool NFTS Marketplace to appeal to that audience. Just like other crypto platforms do.

Yeah, this was just the same when there are rumors that Paypal "might" accept bitcoin on which lots had been saying that it wont happen but it eventually did but it did really takes time.
Just like you said on which i wouldnt really be surprised if these companies would really be making out the same step on what those companies had been done.It is just a matter of time
or been waiting for some benefits on which crypto had been adopted or added into the platform.Most of them are just observing it out if it does works well or not.

Let's just take it as is and what their stand right now. Don't take it too serious as of the moment when analysts and experts are telling Ebay "might" accept bitcoin.
Always take it with a grain of salt when there are news like this. You believe it or not but just always go along with the neutral of those news eve though they're likely positive and boosting.

It will be fantastic if EBay begins to accept bitcoin. With time Alibaba, Konga, Jiji, Jumia and other meaningful shopping outlets will embrace that payment option and that will be very big for the struggle for mass adoption for bitcoin. The reason why people can't believe that PayPal will accept bitcoin is that PayPal is already a digital payment method and people think that if they accept PayPal their main service will be beaten up. They are wrong with that, PayPal still shows that even if they already adopt btc they are still in control of their business. They achieve this by limiting the things that btc can do inside their platform.

In the case of eBay, it can be different because eBay is not like PayPal, it's a shopping company. In fact, it will be an advantage to them if they add more payment methods. Adding btc on their platform is fine and won't affect them in any way.

Yes, I've also read news about this in one of the local media, eBay CEO Jamie Iannone did say that he would try to adopt crypto as an alternative payment on their platform, but what he said is still only a discourse and there is no certainty about its implementation, but if later ebay really adds crypto as an alternative to payment transactions on platform, of course this is a positive thing and will probably greatly affect the development of crypto as a fast and easy payment alternative for a company.

We will have to see about it though, yes, it's a big and welcoming news for bitcoin ecosystem, but it doesn't mean that it will automatically translate to a skyrocket price. The timing should be perfect before it will put a dent in the price. Because if the accept it in bear market, then I'm seeing the effect will be minimal. Yes sir it is, because we know how big and popular eBay is. Ebay is mostly popular in u.s countries I believe? At our place, it wasn't eBay that is popular but they don't accept btc here. I won't think twice about switching to eBay if ever eBay is going to accept btc and as I can see there are good items for sale at a very reasonable price on this platform.

Alibaba is like eBay too, that are known but I don't know about the other two that you list but it's going to be alright if ever all of them adopt bitcoin. Don't give too much hope on it. The PayPal adoption is actually a surprising one although many have discussed that many years ago because they really are a direct competition with bitcoin.

Lets just put up some example on businesses or companies in the past that had considered on applying bitcoin as a payment option Ex. STEAM.. This might not be a ecommerce

We really do not need any further endorsement from anyone to be a game changer. This was huge when they would have accepted 7 years back when we are in the starting phase but right now there is not a kid in the financial sector that is not aware of the cryptocurrency market. So i would not bother nor many here would bother whether they add or not :D.

               So that's how it is. Well at least now I know. It would be nice though if they'd put out better detailed announcements so as to not mislead people. Specially when lots of people recycles just about any news and adds flase things as they please to rake in some good traffic. Although it's just right that people should do their due diligence in researching about things that pique their interests, not everyone has the spare time for such news or won't even try to make time since it ain't that needed by the majority. eBay is just "stalling" by making people believe it's going to accept Bitcoin in order to attract as much money into it. I don't think eBay will ever accept Bitcoin as payment method simply because the risk is too high to bear. Not only Bitcoin's price volatility could affect eBay's profit margin, but there would also be regulatory concerns that eBay would need to face in the long run. Regulators will "stab" eBay in the back if it decides to adopt Bitcoin as payment method (with the excuse that it can be used for tax evasion). That's why eBay and other prominent companies have been too skeptical in opening their arms to Bitcoin.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter if eBay accepts Bitcoin or not, since you can still buy eBay gift cards and even virtual VISA cards with Bitcoin through third-parties (eg: eGifter, Bitrefill). Things would've been different if there was no service where you can use your Bitcoin for eBay purchases. Just my thoughts ;D

What a policy since last year, maybe this is all due to the scams that have revolved on their platform selling bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. I think this step and policy is understandable and they're just protecting their users from any possible that might abuse their platform and bitcoin.

They are still on observation mode just like anything else.This is mainly talking about regulation issues and others.

It would be really nice to use Bitcoin as an online payment. But people's ignorance about Bitcoin has made this process very complicated.
Most online platforms do not accept Bitcoin only because of the volatility of Bitcoin, sometimes Bitcoin is not accepted as an online payment due to brokerage problems.

I think Giant e-commerce sites may feel interested to accept crypto payments if bitcoin adoption increases further.

It seems the speculated announcement that we were all waiting on yesterday never happened (unless I'm just out of the loop and the news wasn't rubbed in my face).  While this may show that people jumped a gun a bit on these rumors, I don't think they're completely out of the realm of possibility.  Likely eBay probably saw some feedback about how they'd implement it and learned some things that may have put a delay on their efforts to integrate Bitcoin into their payment network.  I'm sure they don't want to put advertising and coding dollars to waste by implementing something that won't be appreciated by the Bitcoin community, so hopefully the delay in any official announcement, if you want to call it a delay, is to address concerns the community has risen about how they will implement it.  At least that's what we can hope.

That's true, I don't think they will accept crypto soonly because what I have read that they start to learn and observe crypto. They never said to accept but just collect more information about crypto. This is really different when OP they might accept Bitcoin and the possibility of what He wrote is low. If so, that would result in a large amount of money lost in fees.

Wasn't aware that eBay actually tried to integrate Bitcoin in 2014, and 2021 respectively, along with NFT trading. I'm into cryptocurrencies, and it's the first time I've been hearing about this, after being active on the scene since 2012-13. Certainly, it wasn't that widespread, but I'm now reading that it may try to integrate several cryptocurrency means of payment.
