Title: The Bitcoin Family
Post by: KennyR on March 02, 2022, 11:46:56 PM

Most of the users here could've known about this person Didi Taihuttu, father and husband of the bitcoin family. Didi Taihuttu went all-in on Bitcoin in 2016 when there is not much of attention towards cryptocurrency. He sold his and his family’s possessions, and camped in the Netherlands refugees campaign. In an interview he mentioned

Quote
“I don’t have any cars, motorbikes, nothing. And I’m happier than ever. And she [Taihuttu's wife] agrees! At that moment, we decide to break that chain and lead by example for the kids.”

Life is about accumulating happiness, “instead of accumulating wealth.” Hence, the Bitcoin Family was born. The three daughters “only have Bitcoin, not bank accounts,” while the parents have never looked back on their former lives.

This is something big to be done during those days. He have done it with such a courage and now he is successful out of the same. The true value of holding and believing in bitcoin can be understood through his life.

He have lived the bitcoin lifestyle. Living only with bitcoin isn't an easy thing and he have done it when there is not much of acceptance along with his wife and three daughters. He mentions it as something a nomadic style living. Taihuttu cites “six families” who have since sold all their possessions to enjoy the Bitcoin lifestyle.

What a man, the family have been doing charity with the 40% made through his cryptocurrency trading, affiliates and all other sources. Initially they've built a school in Mexico, an orphanage in Venezuela. Life changing moments through bitcoin. There is risk, but there is life and Didi Taihuttu and his family have proven it to the world.

As an investor, that's wrong decision to go ALL in but he was passionate about bitcoin. That was a risky decision but he made it. I can't imagine even a day if I go all in Bitcoin lol. Here bitcoin isn’t legal.
Did you just copy paste the article and used source?

Props to them. I'm happy for them. But I don't recommend such path for other families. That kind of life is not for everybody. For one, it is definitely impossible for the majority of the world's population to live with Bitcoin only.

If one has a lot of money, whether it is in fiat or in Bitcoin, he/she could do the same. But to an ordinary Juan who has to work in order to eat, that's something he/she could only dream of.

I wonder if there will be another person who will gonna do that today when the price is over $40k+, I'm pretty sure that they are not the only one who does that since I remember someone has also sold their house to buy bitcoins and choose to live in the tent waiting for the price to drastically increase, I think it was 2018.

These guys were true after all and they deserve what they've got from their unusual investments.

I can still remember reading something about this family who made an all-out decision to go for Bitcoin back years ago...and then we know that eventually Bitcoin got into crypto winter stage but they never waivered...such an adamant and solid position in favor of Bitcoin made them the unofficial Bitcoin family. And now that Bitcoin never go back to the $3K level even during chaotic period, am sure they are now getting the attractive fruits of their decision. Of course, we are now recommending what they did but this is one meaning of making the risk.

Heavily appreciate the confidence and the skin in the game. But think about how disastrous this would be for the entire family if bitcoin went the other way. This is pretty reckless despite me being really bullish on bitcoin.

I do not know how they could be sure with bitcoin at that time, while most people are underestimated bitcoin can surpass this stage.
But I salute his family that supports his decision to go all-in in bitcoin because that is not easy to have one word on the family, especially to leave everything they had and only focus on bitcoin.
It is a brave step for a small family like him and it needs big courage to convince all family members, in this matter, his wife and his kids but he deserves that as he now sees that his dreams become a reality.
I am happy to see them now live better using bitcoin and yes, they prove to us that bitcoin really works for them.

I do not agree with that. What it is is a risky decision but not a worng one. We have to think of diversification as a hedge against risk (and partly against ignorance). What would have been better 20 years ago? Buying google shares alone or buying the same amount of shares spread across gogle and the companies that fell by the wayside?

The problem is getting it right.

It is suitable for a YouTube channel or a story in a magazine or other, but we cannot consider it a model for everyone to invest 100% in Bitcoin.
The couple seems to want to change the traditional lifestyle and start a new life, and Bitcoin may represent a tool for freedom, especially if you are interested in such technology.

Don't forget the 0% tax on cryptocurrencies and that the family has travelled to more than 40 countries which will be good if you have bitcoin

The journey that they took was definitely life changing. But even if i put myself into Didi's shoe, i would not take the risk especially that i am a family man and i have to be responsible in all my decision making. There are a lot of ways on how to accumulate bitcoin and earn wealth in it, but the idea to make a short cut and go all in bitcoin is very impractical. They may be lucky enough and become fortunate in bitcoin, but this kind of story is very rare to happen. Most of those who take the risk have only end up in failure.

This guy is a legend and upon knowing his story before the ATH on 2017 and while we're dealing with the bear market on 2018. I've thought on how he's able to surpass that. Well, we've surpassed and overcame it so he did.
Now, he's got a lot of opportunity with him and his family's decision of going all in for bitcoin. It's a worth it experience for them and although risky, they've taken full responsibility for that decision and they did it right.

Well, this is one of the most famous stories about a man and his family who sold everything they had and invested in Bitcoin, and that is why many declared them insane at the time. However, it turned out that these people had a great vision and were brave to put it into practice, which brought them great income and the opportunity to travel the world and enjoy life.

Unlike that family living their dream, many (including myself) did not believe that Bitcoin would grow in value so much, so today we have a few stories every week regretting how someone missed their chance to be a millionaire. Crying for spilled milk is nothing but a waste of time.

By the way, a lot of threads have been opened on this topic over the years.

I see this not as a family that roams the face of the earth living off past bitcoin daring investments, but rather as a family lead by an entrepreneur, who obviously risked a lot back in the day, but who’s got the wits and skills to build-up on the story, making The Bitcoin Family essentially into a brand name, and leading a bunch of crypto-related activities which likely make-up for large part of his success (meaning that they are not simple nomads living on past investments).

If we take a look at Didi Taihuttu LinkedIn profile we’ll get a better grasp of what I mean (Advisor, KeyNote Speaker, brand ambassador for multiple corporations, book author, real state with a crypto ring to it (https://www.portugalresident.com/bitcoin-family-sets-sights-on-creating-crypto-community-village-in-algarve/)] etc.):

That is faith. Even if you know you did a very risky decision that will make your family suffer in the future, but you stand on what you believe will happen and now, you are already living a life which is everyone's dream. But in my honest opinion, not everyone could be fortunate like Didi. Even if the faith is there, the passion lives on, but the fact that you are in a very unpredictable investment, investing all in could be a very wrong move. However, if you are in a very promising investment, who knows, risking your time and money could be all worth its huge returns.

Is this the family that sold all for btc including their house and starts to live in a cave, right? It was a long time since I first heard their story but they became quite few years later. We surpassed the bear because we don't hold big amounts like the amount of btc they hold and it's not really a big deal for us if we lose but for them, deciding during that time can be crucial.

The saying was true that with great power comes with great responsibility, in which the btc that they hold acted as their power and they need to take a full responsibility with it because their whole life or their future depends on it. I hope what they did can inspire people, only to buy and hodl btc but not by doing the same exact step of selling everything.

I have been following them on Instagram for a few years, The Bitcoin Family are
fairly legendary around here. Didi is a great ambassador for Bitcoin as his family
are also. They made the decision to go all in and have stayed active in the scene.

They have been travelling the world and educating people about Bitcoin and have
been using it as much as possible.

Remembering that lots had made out some criticisms on the decisions that they had made that it was too risky but turns out to be good since bitcoins price had reached out new ATH's which means they had really
made out some significant profits in frankly speaking and this is the main thing that you could really get or benefit from bitcoin if you had believed on it on earlier phase and that was a good call.
Even myself do call them a fool on going all in but it turns out that im the one who do missed out that opportunity.

Yes, his faith and view for bitcoin on its early days was amazing and incomparable. The family agreed upon it and they're now reaping the risk that they've agreed to take upon. The journey of this family was such lovely to see on how people amazed and raised eyebrows upon knowing it.
Now, they're like a crypto celebrity that's being followed by those who have witnessed their journey.

Yes, it was them. That's why I'm admiring them, the bear market on 2018 was totally a big hit and discouraging but they've overcome it and the same as us.
They actually did inspired a lot of people but most of us doesn't have the balls to do the same thing that they did. We're good holding and buying bitcoin and accumulate some more.

here I see a commitment and belief that is firm and supported by the wisdom of a wife so that it bears sweet fruit so that the happiness that is felt is not from wealth but from the harmony of opinion for bitcoin now and for the future that other families may not be able to do at this time. now because of them

I admire his guts and belief towards Bitcoin because not everyone can do this. He go all in year 2016, at that time Bitcoin is not getting much attention but that changed when 2017 bullrun occur. However we know the ride is not often smooth since bearish market is also inevitable after the bullrun and it takes years to recover. Hence, thinking how they managed to overcome the bloody market is really admirable.

In my case I dont think I can do or follow their steps of selling all my assets and go all in. Although we know the history and potential of Bitcoin, its risky to do such thing. I believe in Bitcoin but I cant go all in.

things that really risky but at least they have been successfully taken into account.

I have a strong belief in bitcoin, but this decision is too risky as nothing is 100% sure.
Congratulations to the bitcoin family when the whole world doubted the existence of bitcoin, they put their absolute faith in BTC and they fully deserved the achievement today. But today's market is very different from the past, this is not a model that encourages widespread adoption. I hope everyone will invest wisely.
if we will not risk then we will not gain in this Volatile market so best to try (But not 100%) investing small amount then add each time .

A risky decision which turned out to best decision for them as they went all in for bitcoin in 2016 only and now after 6 years they might be thinking they have done the best thing. There is lot of price appreciation in Bitcoin till then and they have managed to gain so much profits. This is risk-reward return means in actual sense. It was best they have decided bitcoin for investment as if any other coin was choice then it might have proved wrong for them.

if 2016 everyone can know the current bitcoin price, of course I will do the same thing, to buy this 1 asset, this family is very inspiring so now reaping the rewards of the current bitcoin price harvest. I doubt the price can return to the price In the past, it actually made people who bought it at a loss during this golden period. The decision of the family, both husband, wife and children, maybe at that time it was inconceivable that this miraculous multiplication occurred, I still admire this family.

What a brave and a goal-driven family. Imagine selling all out in 2016, which BTC price were just $500, though the price keep increasing year by year, I wonder how they struggle to adjust their daily lives, their trading strategy, their ups and downs.

Would be good if they have something like diary of their lives, or vlog in the modern days. Kudos, big respect to the family :)

It's really a lovely family. Though many people say it's not a good decision to enter the whole family into bitcoin. But if I separate them from bitcoin, it's clear that they are in tech. They are in the future because we know that in any sector you name, there will be tech involved. Though I am not a techy person, I am from the accounting department, but from my interest in the internet, I came across the world's most advanced tech, which is cryto and blockchain, and I am teaching my younger brother about crypto and he will be studying on computer. And my next generation will be from a technology-engineering background. So, if they work in technology, they will be familiar with crypto and bitcoin. a gurateed. And I hope I can also share a picture by saying "crypto and bitcoin family."

I did hear about them. I wonder since none of them have bank accounts or anything, how do they pay their taxes with bitcoin? And probably they are not "all bitcoin" because that would be too difficult. At one point or another, they do interact with fiat currency. And what if the price of bitcoin crashed a lot due to some unexpected event? That would be a total chaos and disaster for them since they went all in into bitcoin...

Lucky man, and lucky family.

I hope I have that kind of family but my kids are still young and they seem not interested in knowing more about bitcoin. At least if you have a big family who is into crypto, it's not hard for you to pass on your weight or keep it growing even if you retire early because you have somebody to rely on.

It's also impressive that this guy has been doing charity, that's very noble, sharing your blessing makes you contribute to the community.

Your are right, this kind of family is not ideal for people living in a third world country. These people that have solely rely their family on Bitcoin is in another level, they were ready to face any danger, including his kids. I would not do something like this, never in my life. I can't live in a refugee camp, I have a roof above me as for now and I would never sell this house for that kind of living, that would expose my family in danger.
I too have a dream and not by this kind of chance, gambling all my wealth on a single ride. I guess this is extra ordinary, I have a friend that lives abroad who also can be called a bitcoin family. All of the members does have bitcoin, including the kids but they never have to stay outside their home and live somewhere else. The father continues to work and at the same time engage on crypto trading. This is an ideal one, poor or in middle class. We can work our ass out for daily needs, and buy bitcoin with whatsoever is left.

This family is really great. And we can say that they're working as a team to finally reach their goal. And now that their living their dream, they are also extending big help to charities. I just hope i have the same courage and optimism that this family have. I believe the fact that they invest all in for bitcoin, that made them adjust and live their lives very simple way back. Now, everything has changed. They can do travelling around the world and do whatever they want. To adapt a lifestyle based on bitcoin, more than the risk is to take it with the knowledge that it is not prohibited in the place where you live. The risks of volatility are manageable, I say this after checking it with my own experience.

I do not get any income from my local currency because I made the decision to be a Freelancer who receives his income with cryptocurrencies. It has been the best choice of my life because I have had difficult situations that I was able to solve thanks to the fact that I was honestly able to save with bitcoin and some altcoins.

Bitcoin is the freedom I've been looking for, without wasting time right in the palm of my hand. I've been with my lifestyle for a long time and if it changes a little I sometimes feel disappointed. It won't change the convenience of a few clicks from the comfort of my home.

I remembered about this.
This was actually a very strong and rave decision at that time. At that time, many people really felt doubtful and also strange with their decision. Moreover, they thought that he made some dangers on his family itself. But the time flows and they could really get the big victory of this decision. Investing in Bitcoin is really worth it.
But once more, if we are not ready with all cases and also risks, better not to follow their ways o it because this may be very risky and moreover if we don't know the right time to sell and buy and get the profits.

Very inspiring but if you are actually scared of losing, dont do this. It is still advisable to only invest the amount that you can afford to loss. I hope this family doing well right now and have some money out of bitcoin to save, because we cant really predict of what will happen next in the future, thats why its better for us to be prepared.

Wow you are really great at being able to adapt to crypto life for years without looking for outside income.
But what if one day the place where you live is prohibited from using crypto.?
How would you do it.

Obviously I would be concerned, I have a family to support, I also have other relatives outside the home who receive my help. I would look for a normal job, save money again to move to a crypto friendly country. That would be a solution to continue with my lifestyle, my mind has changed and I think many crypto lovers have also done so because we are adopting a crypto culture that is leading us to innovation.

It is enough to see traditional brands as they are introducing the concept to their public on Web3. As we know with crypto there are no borders with just a few clicks we can send money with even zero commissions, I share this because just now I have sent money to a relative in another country almost free of charge.

You would be only charged with network fees and everything would really be a smooth as breeze which you couldnt really get it on money transfers that we do have which do cost more and also with

bank transactions which we know that  there are certain limitations if we do talk about international transfers which is the con's on dealing with typical stuff. The only problem is that on how you do
make out on those conversions to fiat which couldnt really be that easy depending on the situation of cryptocurrency on a particular country on where you do live on.

Good that it worked for this family, but it's still too risky to be executed. As I see there is a young girl on the middle of the picture. In 2016 she was probably a toddler and refugees camps aren't exactly an appropriate place for kids to live and grow, especially on that age.

Despite this fact, I suppose now they have access to much superior life conditions, after bitcoin's bull runs of 2017 and 2021, so the risk was worthful after all and the family was nicely rewarded.

Moreover they must make some extra cash through internet videos, selling books and giving interviews.

Guys, thanks for contributing your ideas in reference to my comment. I will briefly share my recent experience:

I just sent money to a relative in Brazil through a third party. We use Binance Pay and Whatsapp for the exchange, I sold btc for usdt so that my family member receives reais.

Fortunately, the person who made the deposit for me is an exchange house, it is a small company that with more effort can go a long way. The money transfer was fast, safe and cheap compared to traditional banking services.

The power of decentralization is before us and with a range of opportunities.

This family has definitely experienced more of hardships and big adjustments before. So i can say that all their sacrifices have paid off since we all know they are living in luxury right now. But there is more to that. This great family has also good time to share their blessings by making some charities. That makes them more of an ideal family. However, this luck does not happen to everyone. Others may end up losing all they have if things won't work out. So always think of its long term effects before you start taking the risk.

This family has faith, not in bitcoin but in each other. They are going to be happy and be alright regardless of any material.

But at some point, this is very risky decision. Yes, bitcoin is a good investment but you dont have to sold everything including your house just to bought bitcoin. What if it crashed? You have your kids to feed. Its always recommended to only invest what you can afford to lose. Dont put all your eggs in one basket or better yet diversify.

As an investor, that's wrong decision to go ALL in but he was passionate about bitcoin. That was a risky decision but he made it. I can't imagine even a day if I go all in Bitcoin lol. Here bitcoin isn’t legal.

Many will think that it was a wrong decision and yes basically it is really was, but years after, we can say it wasn't.  His belief in Bitcoin is really tremendous and got rewarded for it.  I think it is all thanks to the support of his family that they went thru those difficult times until the result came.

They are not only loyal to bitcoin but also completely trust and respect each other to be able to work together to make this miracle. Putting all your eggs in one basket is really risky and never recommended when investing, even if it's some idle money.
Anyway, it was over and they succeeded. Bitcoin family is really a role model for us about believing in bitcoin, but don't do it their way sell all your assets to get bitcoin. That's really unwise.
