Bitcoin is the hallmark of cryptocurrency. Although there are many stablecoins, Bitcoin is still the leader. People pay attention to the price of Bitcoin, and when the price drops, someone chooses to sell the coin to stop loss. Some altcoins will die when the price falls, and some media write articles to influence everyone's judgment, thus selling the coins in their hands, causing the price to fall. When the price falls, it is still necessary to maintain a good attitude, do not panic when the price falls, it is better to keep holding.

As a crypto investor your attention should be on BTC first, remember that BTC is even the main coin that opens door for altcoins season too, if BTC isn't pumping hard altcoins won't be doing so well, BTC is the first, it has the biggest volume and liquidity, talking about the most supporting crypto coin BTC is the king this is why it directs the market.

That's a natural thing to happen in the crypto mate space, because altcoins do often follow the flow of the Bitcoin market so that increases and decreases always occur simultaneously and the main thing that is often monitored by everyone is Bitcoin not altcoins because altcoins are still very often following Bitcoin in terms of that.

Because it is the market leader.

Whatever happens to the leader, every follower has nothing to do but to do the same as what the leader has done. As for many pairs on all exchanges excluding the decentralized exchanges.

They're all following the price of bitcoin and that's a normal thing in the market that you have to remember that if bitcoin goes up, the alts are next and vice versa.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?
There is no definite answer to this, but this can be due to a number of assumptions made correctly.

Bitcoin functions as an index of market psychology and users follow what movements it makes to determine future trends. So when bitcoin is dropping in price, the people who had bought with lack of understanding and faith in the altcoins will sell because they think this is the end of that altcoin.

Those who sell altcoins may not be that much capable to understand that if they hold they might actually get a price to break even and exit with profit, therefore a lack of patience.

Because this market is unregulated and panic spreads quickly, it is difficult to control a downtrend quickly. But the opposite also becomes true, when it goes up all coins start going up as well.

Bitcoin leads other Altcoins follows that is how the market sentiment is now, once upon a time when bitcoin rises other Altcoins falls vice versa however the present market sentiment will enable any crypto trader to analyze the price of any altcoin with subject to Price Action of bitcoin, whether bullish or bearish i.e shouldn't go contrary to or against the price direction of bitcoin.
As a trader I discovered that all the candlestick patterns of majory of Altcoins are very similar thus I choose one USDT among the numerous pairs and trade it while taking cognisance of price sentiment of bitcoin.

I think it is because Bitcoin has a strong impact of influence in the crypto market, because of its marketcap dominance, just look at the total Market capitalization of Bitcoin its marketcap share a very big pie of the total marketcap so I think that was the main reason and second is the trading pair as we observe most altcoins has a trading pair with BTC so I think that was a strong compelling reason why altcoins also drag to the Bitcoin price.

Investors are selling their holdings and buying stable coins, so by this they can secure their profit and have more power to buy later on.
Altcoins follows Bitcoin because this has been the major pair, and we know the dominance of Bitcoin over this market.

This is not a new trend anymore, we've been through a lot of this before and guess what, nothing change even if there's a lot of good altcoins today, they still follow the trend of Bitcoin.

Well normally there are ALT to BTC pairs, you can exchange altcoins to get bitcoins. If the bitcoin price increases then the price of altcoins that are also connected to the bitcoin market also increases and vice versa mate. When the price of bitcoin go to fall altcoins should also fall, but some altcoin will take advantage of the moment when bitcoin goes fall by increasing the price of their altcoin in bitcoin value, broadly speaking we all need to know this kind of pattern.

Technical analysis really helps in thr matter but there are circumstances that it wont follow and btc just suddenly drop hard or pump hard. Market price speculation followed its parent and bitcoin became the main focus of investors' attention to gauge how effective it is to store money in altcoins. If the movement of bitcoin drops, altcoins will immediately go into freefall and can even exceed the percentage decrease in bitcoin. Such is the crypto space, where investors measure bitcoin as the only major coin.

Bitcoin generally up and down Because of bad news or Good news. When bitcoin down , other token whales also start selling Because they fee fear that it may fall further due to bad news and market can go further down.

What if it's the bitcoin following alt fall? Every market are somewhat related and there are of course market sentiments. You can see a similar trend in stocks market where one stock price is no way related to another as all of them are bought and sold by fiat, still when the market sentiment is bearish, most of them goes down and viceversa. In crypto, there is one further reason of being paired with one another. With so much varieties and reasons for market movement, we can no further claim bitcoin leads the whole market either.

When the king moves, his sidekicks are supposed to move to the same direction. That's exactly what happens in the crypto market as well. Bitcoin is undoubtedly the king of the crypto market and enjoys the first mover advantage. It's the same thing happening for ETH as well for the smart contract capability.

Don't we have better, faster and cheaper coins available in the market. We definitely have a lot better coins but no one was able to beat bitcoin in any way.

No problem. that's the common thing in the crypto. altcoins will be following the bitcoin. Once bitcoin down and altcoins too. If you have been long in the crypto and you will find if this is just a common thing. The question is whether people can see their portfolios are going to the deep or not. This already known as the main problem that makes people feel panic.
I think that if this will become the main problem for the newbies that didn't know if altcoins are totally peg with bitcoin

Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?
It's caused by bitcoin has become the main crypto that used by altcoins to determine its price. Altcoins used bitcoin as pairs in the past until this time.

It's pretty obvious, all trading pairs are BTC/X, so when bitcoin goes down, almost all the altcoins goes down with it. And majority of exchanges allow traders to buy their alt coins with bitcoin first and then they do the trade with their fav alt coins.

So there is the correlation, more than 90% of it, but there are alt coins and meme coins, that might follow this because they are obviously being used for pump and dump.

Yeah it is still the case that Bitcoin is basically the lead indicator for all crypto currencies, which basically means that, if Bitcoin falls let's say 5% then most of the other coins will also fall at least 5%. Most of them, especially the new and small cap altcoin projects will fall even more than Bitcoin itself. I know what i am talking about because my portfolio consists mainly of small cap altcoins and my porfolio value is down more than 90% compared to it's ATH back in May 2021.
The sad thing for altcoins is also that if Bitcoin rises, the altcoins won't rise immediately too. There is always a longer phase of growth of the big cap coins needed before the smaller ones also start to rise.

You must understand that you are in the crypto space market, and this market is very volatile and the only difference is that Bitcoin owns more than 68% of the total market value and the rest is owned by the alternative currency, so the decline in the price of Bitcoin means that the crypto market is on a downward path.and if Bitcoin rises in value, there are great gains for all alternative currencies!!!

it will be much easier to explain this way: on any exchange, altcoins are tied to a pair with btc and when bitcoin falls, its pair with this altcoin also falls, this is one of the options. The most important factor is that bitcoin is already as a vector of direction on exchanges, it is falling and everything is falling.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?
Because the market cap of bitcoin is huge, it is widely known that the market cap of bitcoin is really high, however those numbers can be deceiving as one coin can be sold for 1 dollar and if it has one million coins as a supply then suddenly it has one million dollars of market cap, which is not true, so the market cap of bitcoin is even higher than what we think, this means that bitcoin has an enormous influence over all the other coins in the market and I do not see this chaining soon at all.

Most of the time, investors start to invest in Bitcoin and then their choices are different from their experiences. What I mean, you should learn about altcoins also like Bitcoin. Still now the whole cryptocurrency is defended by Bitcoin and Bitcoin prices. Day after day, Bitcoin is getting popular because of its limited supply and vanishing a little every day. You should observe "Litecoin and Bitcoin halving time. Maybe next year Litecoin and next year Bitcoin. Halving is decreasing the supply to increase the demand which demand also helps others cryptocurrency.

The answer is very simple, because "King is only one!" :)

The true is, that it is a consequence of the fact that years ago only Bitcoin was known on the market. When the bear market for Bitcoin started, all investors thought Bitcoin was dying and is coming the end of cryptocurrencies, so all market follow Bitcoin price. For many years the market has gotten used to it, this become kind of system and also it is just a kind of tradition right now.

More than tradition, back in the day there was actually a very legit reason for it. Because when you turned your fiat into crypto, %90+ chance you would turn it into bitcoin. So that meant whenever people bought a crypto, they bought bitcoin, and when they got out they left a neutral ground, bought the same amount with fiat and got out with same amount. Alts were a bit different, you would either go in from bitcoin, or not go in at all but if you were in crypto then you were in bitcoin one way or another. Nowadays you can turn your fiat into many things, without dealing with bitcoin, but that mindset just got stuck.

Try to look on the current situation we do have as of this moment on which bitcoins price is really decreasing which it is already that too obvious that most altcoins are going on the same direction.
It might not really be that too deep but the entire trend would really be on bearish as of this moment but we know eventually that prices would inevitably recover thats why people should
see dips or correction like this is an opportunity for you to be cheaper coins but it wont really be easy as it sounds yet people would really be minding always about some stuff
like the price might go down even more further.

Well simplest reason is that it's oldest and most trusted blockchain. My assumption always was that nr1 in coinmarketcap gets to be the symbol and leading star for other coins. And how that behaves reflects how whole crypto economy is doing. And reason why others fall more is their lower marketcap and lower liquidity. When people panic sell and there's not enough buy limit orders, prices crash fast.

Therefore, the cryptocurrency market is a speculators paradise. Robots will always be faster than humans, but if someone sees that the trend in Bitcoin price is changing, trader can expect that altcoins prices will also change in a moment.
Of course, this won't always work, but most of the time it should be. This is not normal for other financial markets. When it comes to cryptocurrencies, there is no other explanation than the fact that it is just an investor habit that remains from a time when trading was only FIAT <-> BTC.

Not all altcoins always follow the Bitcoin price. Stable coins even show the opposite of the Bitcoin price trend. Just look at some stable coins such as USDT, USDC, BUSD, or TUSD, these coins usually increase their values quite significantly whenever the Bitcoin price drops.  ;)

Regarding other types of altcoins, it is normal if they follow Bitcoin since investors feel afraid and prefer to sell their altcoins or convert them to stable coins whenever Bitcoin falls. Bitcoin price falls or rises, sometimes becomes the indicator of the upcoming trend in crypto market. When it rises, it seems to have an uptrend phase for a whole week. While if it drops, it may indicate have a downtrend phase for a whole week. So, the altcoins holders are affected by this factor.

Title: Re: Why Alts Follows Bitcoin's Fall?

simply put its just because thats the nature of most of altcoins, the current market always relies with the trend of bitcoin never becoming independent except some of the outliers altcoins that are having their own market movement.
or maybe its just because altcoins are usually behind in terms of trend because the big capital holders are usually holds big amount of BTC and they knew well the current circumstances of our economy almost immediately in every move
thats could be the reason altcoins sometimes lack behind in terms of market movement and just feels like its following bitcoin while in reality its just that their market movement rather lags behind and hugely influenced by the bitcoin market too.

Yeah, Bitcoin is the king in the market, and that’s why it’s majorly the coin that has kept growing over the years while the rest just falls and stay down. Only few altcoins has been able to follow up with Bitcoin and keep up with their growth, just a few of them like Ethereum.

But as for the rest, they just come out to trend for a short time and before you know what’s happening they have all started losing their value and dropping to a low price. And the most annoying of it all is that most of them never makes any move again to increase in value, they all just stay down like that, which is the reason I often avoid investing in these altcoins. Bitcoin alone is already a good choice.

Because the vast majority of coins are pure speculative objects and have no real use or intrinsic value. Those that have, can always escape the trend of Bitcoin. For example, Ethereum has fallen less than Bitcoin or Waves is even close to the all-time high. In such phases, it's easy to see which project really has a future and investor confidence and which ones are actually just for quick speculation.

in the crypto world bitcoin is still a role model for altcoins.
whatever happens to bitcoin it will also affect altcoins.
we can see at this time bitcoin is down and all altcoins are following in the footsteps of bitcoin going down.
This happens because bitcoin still dominates the altcoins in the crypto world.
no matter how good the project owned by altcoin is, it will still lose to the decline experienced by bitcoin

I always thought of it as the USD of cryptocurrencies. They say USD is the strongest currency of all and it also affects the economy of other countries once its value fall. I think the exaggerated news all over different articles is the proof of it.
Bitcoin is almost the same. It is the strongest of all and when it fluctuates, the same goes for altcoins that is being affected by its market. At old times it was not like this, when Bitcoin falls every altcoins pumps up but when stablecoins was presented it became different.

It is no coincidence that Bitcoin movements affect other altcoins. Bitcoin is the forerunner of cryptocurrencies and is quite dominant in the market. From this point of view, altcoins will remain tied to Bitcoin for a long time.

When you people say that altcoins stays at their level when Bitcoins rises, and it falls when Bitcoins falls, what do you people mean by that? That’s not true. When the market is good, altcoins increases in value, and those of them that doesn’t have a price correlation with Bitcoin goes any price direction regardless of where Bitcoin is heading to. And of course there are events that can have a general effect on the market, and in this case, majority of the coins there is in the market would fall in value.

So, it’s not really like you people say it; you make it seem like altcoins doesn’t even increase in value at all when you say that they stay sane price when Bitcoin goes up and falls when Bitcoin falls lol.

There are so many dynamics that determine this. But the most important is market domination (Bitcoin domination: 42.4%). When the Bitcoin price falls, not only does the Bitcoin price fall. The value of the all market falls. Markets are driven by the emotions of investors. As investors are affected by this situation, they start a sales wave by acting with fear and anxiety. Thus, when the price of Bitcoin falls, the price of all Altcoins also falls. :)

Altcoins are exist out of bitcoin. This means altcoins are like part of bitcoin. This is how the market is being made at the beginning, because bitcoin slowly gained acceptance and altcoins weren't of big importance. Following bitcoin the market began to experience change, and this change began to have impact over the bitcoin.

The bitcoin market used to be bullish whenever there is good inflow from altcoins and turn bearish when funds were moved towards altcoins. Apart from this top order altcoins mostly move in the direction of bitcoin.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?

Because bitcoin is the founding leader of all coins. It covers most of the market capitalization of entire crypto currencies though it is flank by many competitors. Bitcoin dominates and almost all of the Alts are typically measured by bitcoin. If new coins are listed, it's either BTC or Eth paired, that is why when BTC rises, most of the coins rise too.

In some parts of the world, where you can't purchase other alts with Fiat, so you buy BTC first to buy that certain alt, and it applies the same when you want to cash it out to fiat. Good thing in my country we can do it in some few alts, directly with no need to trade for bitcoin. Somehow Bitcoin became a median between alts and fiat in some cases.

Here's what I observed all these past few years,

Bitcoin pumps -> altcoins dump (rare)
Bitcoin dumps -> altcoins dump
Bitcoin sideways -> altcoins pump
Bitcoin pumps -> altcoins pump

If you really observe these behaviors of Bitcoin and altcoins, you will see some of these cases. When Bitcoin before is still below $10,000, you will see when Bitcoin pumps, altcoins dump, there are lot of cases like that before.

I think that if you were crypto adopters since last year and you may familiar with this. Altcoins are usually following bitcoin caused by altcoins used bitcoin as a way to determine its price. Remember that bitcoin already paired with so many stable tokens and then bitcoin has become a standard for the altcoins to follow the trend. Bitcoin is also making almost all of altcoins will always follow it.
The history was also playing a lot in this case. People know that bitcoin was the first crypto and the price started with bitcoin. I meant crypto priced caused by bitcoin and then altcoins got introduced after bitcoin already available in the market.
That's why bitcoin is widely affecting the price of altcoins. There are also another variables that are giving huge impact to the bitcoin.

The opposite fluctuations have made many investors nervous. Many people often assume that an increase in the price of Bitcoin will definitely have a positive impact on the price of altcoins. However, this did not happen. Many times, we have seen alternative cryptocurrencies move in a direction that is disproportionate to Bitcoin price movements. This is a time when investors mostly rely on the trend of BTC to judge the future of the market, and that is part of the reason why alts will be difficult to grow at this stage.

When you are the King, everyone should follow.  :D
It became the basis of both investors and traders for movements to happen. If every investor has the same perspective then, they are selling at the same time which causes a wave on all altcoins they possess.
Everything will be sold for a stable coin automatically whenever Bitcoin moves down for securing the value.

Bitcoin is the mecca of cryptocurrency itself.
It's no stranger, for predictors they always see the movement of bitcoin before buying their favorite altcoin.
Bitcoin as the main cryptocurrency of course has a much higher volume than other altcoins so it can be taken into consideration.
So that cryptocurrencies are balanced when altcoins follow the movement of bitcoin, I assume after bitcoin flies,
the volume in bitcoin will go partially into altcoins so they follow bitcoin to fly.

Think of it this way. When the price of bitcoin starts to fall, altcoin holders see this as an opportunity to buy bitcoin at cheaper price. Hence they start selling their altcoins and invest them in bitcoin. So the price of altcoin starts to crash even more while the price bitcoin doesn't drop as much as altcoins. When the price of bitcoin starts to increase, they buy back their altcoins at the cheaper price hence maximizing their profit. There are cases where the price of altcoins doesn't increase even when bitcoin increases. This is because people move their focus from altcoin when they see the price of bitcoin go up.

bitcoin is the very first coin in the market that has massive marketcap until now, so for me it's not surprising why alts usually follow bitcoin when there's a declined in the market.

and yes sometimes there's an event that most of them (alts) fall even more during the situation. And perhaps its because converting alts into bitcoin while bitcoin is making correction is a good idea than keep holding alts during the dip.

Most of the Altcoins are Bitcoin driven they also dependent of its variations though there are some which are opposite of the market, meaning whenever the markets gets down or falls those coin gains their ATH which happens to be the ( Gainers /Losers ). The losers depending on bitcoin increase and movement while the gainers depending on the falling or decrease of bitcoin.

Moreover we all known to see Bitcoin as the King

People are using the main base pair to trade. Sometime when bitcoin was facing the bearish trend people massively moving their assets to the bitcoin to decrease their loses but this can also be used as the safest coin during the bearish market as altcoins will face more bearish trend compared with bitcoin. When market will be growing up again and people that converted their altcoins to the bitcoin will be moving back again to buy back their altcoins at the bottom price and make some profits after the bullish trend have been triggering the recovery. That's why alts are following the bitcoin fall.
People are looking for the safest place to keep their assets. Bitcoin has become the first choice and then stable tokens.

It is not usually to see the trend as altcoins just rely upon Bitcoin. The whole market had relied on Bitcoin once it dumps, altcoins are absolutely are going to follow and do the same thing when it pumps.

1. people are selling their coins (worried)
2. Bitcoin has an influence on the market
3. Altcoins can't stand alone without Bitcoin

If Bitcoin dies, the crypto market will collapse but this becomes impossible.

It's simple just like in the real world, rising is harder than falling, and many of the progress of Alt-Coins has great dependancy on Bitcoin even if it's clear the only relationship between them is just that they are both Cryptos. Many projects before creation by the Devs and team do a check in Bitcoin's market value and form at that time.

Yeah since bitcoin was the first coin and this coin is ruling crypto market. All of altcoins will always be following bitcoin no matter what news that has come.
I'm always following bitcoin as this was making people can't leave from bitcoin. Altcoins can't be stand alone without the support from the bitcoin. That being said that if bitcoin is everything in the crypto. People know this so well and that's why they are using bitcoin as a way to predict the direction of altcoins whether it will be going up or down. The problem is newbie like you may unfamiliar with this movement.
Just try to make sure you have got enough basic knowledge about crypto volatility and this is a part of it. Altcoin will always follow bitcoin up or down.

Bitcoin is king of crypto and has the highest market capitalization by volume, whenever the bitcoin is falling, money is been wiped off  the total market cap, this create panic for altcoin traders triggering a sell off. Most of the altcoins are even paired against bitcoin. When I started trading, I only trade against bitcoin, that has greatly changed now.

The market phase depends entirely on the movement of BTC. It still follows the rules. After a big drop, most altcoins lost 90% of ATH, some coins have this ratio even larger. Strong trends are over when there is no incentive for investors to come back. Perhaps we should be satisfied with the past. Looking for new opportunities is something that we need to get used to.

The dynamics of the markets change, after all stable coins are negatively correlated to bitcoin for the obvious reason they are backed by fiat, so when bitcoin drops even if the value of stable coins remain the same now you need more bitcoin to buy them, so in a way they are reevaluating themselves against bitcoin, this explains why people buy stable coins during those times and why the market dynamics changed and now most of the time the price of altcoins also drops when the price of bitcoin goes down.

Well, the crypto market as a whole is always moving in unison (to a certain degree).

I think that you have to realise despite the fact that people think bitcoin is dead, it is still the first and foremost thing that comes up to the public's consciousness when you mention the idea of crypto. So its price action dictates how much money is flowing into crypto overall.

I think that this trend will improve as a matter of time though, you're not going to see as much correlation between BTC and alts going forward because how much alts have developed.

Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency and as such forms the foundation of all crypto. Practically all exchanges have Bitcoin as their cryptocurrency also most altcoins trade with Bltcoin. It was just few years ago when stable coins came into the crypto space that we have coins trading with stable coins. Before then, almost all altcoins trade with bitcoin. Secondly, the statistics at CMC indicates that Bitcoin have a Market Dominance of 42.57%, while Ethereum have Market Dominance of just 17.74% - as at 12th March, 2022. IMO, the above factors indicate that Bitcoin have been dominating the market so every move of Bitcoin will affect most altcoins.

Because bitcoin is an icon of cryptocurrency itself, everyone must be familiar with bitcoin before learning about other coins.
In fact, before there was a stable bitcoin coin first became the only fair to trade because bitcoin would be trusted by everyone.
making bitcoin the leading direction of all cryptocurrencies. Usually, a professional cryptocurrency trader will look at the bitcoin price before he starts investing in the altcoin of his choice.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?

There are two things to note here which will make you understand more on why altcoins follow bitcoin.

1. When bitcoin falls, the price of altcoins fall as well because people generally look at it's value in fiat (eg: USD price)
Since bitcoin's price falls in fiat the relevant price of altcoins fall as well.

2. When bitcoin falls, it creates a panic in the crypto market since it  owns around 50% of the crypto market cap.
So this triggers a panic sell and includes altcoin holders along with it. Hence the price of altcoin even more.

At the end of the day Bitcoin is still the king and that is how they make all of their money. I personally do not believe that it should be tied and some coins should be a bit more independent but they are not. This is because Bitcoin is so big that we calculate bitcoin price with dollars, and other coins with their bitcoin pair most of the time.

This is why I believe that altcoins will always follow whatever bitcoin does. This is not only restricted to bitcoins fall, they all also go up when bitcoin price goes up as well. This why we should not be really too much against it since there are benefits of it as well as the downside of it.

We don't like it for sure as we wanted that these altcoins will stand alone and have a separate view with Bitcoin but just only a fail. we can change this unless people never invest in Bitcoin and if Bitcoin doesn't have the influence in the market. But for as long as the situation remains like that, it certainly will always be going to see.

The reason why most of the cryptocurrencies tend to follow bitcoin because it is the  market leader in the market. Their prices will always be in terms of bitcoin. So when the market leader goes up then they tend to move in the same direction and when it goes down they also move down at the same time.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?

Well, there is no exact answer to this. In one sentence, people believed that when bitcoin began to pump, altcoin was at a stable point, and when bitcoin was at a stable point, altcoin began to pump, and finally, when bitcoin began to dump, altcoin abruptly made a stable point, and when bitcoin entered a dump stable area, altcoin began to dump brutally. And next it repeats itself again and again. Well, it's a theory. But what I believe is a psychological fact is that what traders use in the market. They chose it for their look when the bitcoin price began to fall because altcoins were stable at the time, and traders took advantage of the opportunity to sell their altcoins and invest in bitcoin.Though bitcoin is already in the dump, altcoins began to fall as sellers began to sell in order to buy bitcoin.'s just my speculation, not because I already told you that there is no exact answer. Thank you.

Because bitcoin is the mother of all coin and bitcoin investment holding maximum part of marketcap.  Thats the main effect when bitcoin fall marketcap getting low and price fall normally.
It is affecting the market itself of crypto because it is where it all started. Although the volume for the highest isn't from bitcoin but on Tether, it is going on still for bitcoin.

But every time bitcoin dump some altcoin also dump more than bitcoin dump ratio again it also increse more than bitcoin in bull market. Also there is maximum pair of holding in altcoin pair also in bitcoin then if bitcoin price go down then also effect on btc pair and price go down as well!
That's the trend for the market, all of the altcoins whether they are pair or not with bitcoin. When bitcoin has started to dump, all of them will follow the same trend for bitcoin.

This has become a market perspective that has been known by many players that bitcoin is one of the barometers of altcoins in the price of rising and falling price trends, I myself reasoned because bitcoin was one of the first centralized technologies that existed and was accepted by the world community while others adopt it and follow the system so it's only natural that altcoins follow bitcoin

[snip]

I'd consider that Bitcoin has a huge influence on the market and this is the result.
Well the reason was right, just because most altcoins are tied up to bitcoin and most altcoins have a bitcoin pair in the market and when they are selling altcoins while at the moment bitcoin went up they also do the same with bitcoin price movement. So it swings the whole market price because of the bitcoin trader pair and most altcoin has this trading pair. As I said in my previous post, investors need to purchase bitcoin so that they can invest in altcoins or even a new projects.

bitcoin is the most popular crypto right now and the strongest crypto right now, I think this is the reason why most altcoins follow the bitcoin price movement. in other words most people use bitcoin as a benchmark to know the current situation of the crypto market. After all not all altcoins move in the same direction as bitcoin because some altcoins move in a different direction from bitcoin. an example is Aurora (AOA), if I notice the price movement of AOA is often not in line with bitcoin and sometimes the percentage increase in price or decrease in price is much different.

That is true. Bitcoin always impact the price of other cryptocurrencies we have in the market. Even if these cryptocurrencies have no correlation with bitcoin in price, it still influences their price in one way or the other. when the market starts to dip, there are lots of investors who start to sell their altcoins to invest back into bitcoin, and this in one way or the other affects the price of the altcoins in the market and makes them to start dropping.

Investors views bitcoin as the main cryptocurrency in the market because it is the first cryptocurrency that was created and therefore a lot of people prefer to hold their funds in Bitcoin when the market is falling, than holding it in altcoins.

Title: Re: Why Alts Follows Bitcoin's Fall?

I think because the market capitalization of bitcoin is the largest so it will be clear if the price of bitcoin collapses then the value of ALtcoins also follows because of the correlation, or it can also be said that all altcoins are very dependent on Bitcoin liquidity for market spikes.
For the majority of altcoins bitcoin is the main trading pair, and while USDT and other stable coins are important as a trading pair as well the fact they are stable means that they do not exert too much of an influence on altcoins and their movements, this means that if the price of bitcoin is going down then people lose faith in altcoins as well, which means that altcoins need bitcoin to move upwards so they can do the same, and if bitcoin moves downwards most of the altcoins will move in the same direction as well, as investors are selling their coins so they do not end up holding useless altcoins they will never be able to get rid of.

Because Bitcoin is the market leader, and Alts are just complementary market pairs for exchange rates. Bitcoins fluctuate due to demand and supply orders, and Alts fluctuate due to recent issues and developments from the original company, so the two are clearly different in how they make price movements in the market. The Separation Of Money And State
It does highlight an important theme that was very theoretical until this moment – the separation of money and state. We’re all so used to the concept that governments/monarchs issue money – we don’t really ever have to think of it. But in times like these, millions of people are being forced to.
Millions of private citizens and many governments themselves will ultimately come to the conclusion that there’s no obvious reason why governments have to be the sole issuers of money.
That, while state-sponsored money is great for millions of people, private citizens often bear the human cost of their government’s ill-conceived actions, and to mitigate that impact they want their savings in bitcoin or another cryptocurrency.
Millions will come to the conclusion that stateless money is superior to paper money controlled by governments – their own or others.
Bitcoin is stateless money, neutral by design. Bitcoin’s utility is most apparent when it is most needed."

It is true that Bitcoin still is big right now with 42%. Think about it, we are talking about one coin being worth 42% of all marketcaps and that tells you something. ETH got a bit higher and has 17% which is not bad, but even ETH doesn't come close to BTC, we have over 2x difference between them.

People need to realize that when one coin is at the top, and not like just a bit higher than others but literally reach to 40%+ OF ALL the market, you just gotta accept the fact that it is going to be quite difficult to make a change. I personally believe that we should not really be doing something silly and bother the market big enough to hurt bitcoin, because we can't just take alts over bitcoin, that is not possible.

Most of it still follow though. Imagine in the perspective of crypto investors that are primarily into Bitcoin and then trying to put "the other eggs into the other basket". If the eggs start to rot in the first basket, the investors will likely take out the other eggs in the other basket. I don't think they are going to let it just slide into their own thoughts that kind of scenario.

Well, I guess not all the time, not all altcoins then follow the trend but some do the opposite.

https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2022/03/10/market-wrap-bitcoin-stuck-below-40k-altcoins-see-less-selling-pressure/

I figure this new sentiment in the market and some altcoins are moving in the opposite direction. And this is because not all projects are relying on Bitcoin and not all investors also had focusing on Bitcoin alone.

In some cases, some investors diversify their portfolio into altcoins once Bitcoin prices fall making altcoins spike.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?
that's the great thing about bitcoin which can move the price up and down the price of other altcoins, but not all altcoins follow the up/down price of bitcoin, sometimes when bitcoin lowers the price there are altcoins that will increase the price, so don't be surprised for example bitcoin price movements are followed by many other altcoins .
There is a concept called correlation that let us see more clearly if two assets move on average in the same way even if there are moments in which they move differently, some time ago I took the time to do this experiment and with a correlation of 1 meaning that the assets are moving exactly the same way, -1 which tell us they move in the opposite way and zero which means they move independently from each other, altcoins have a correlation of 0.9, which tell us their movements are heavy correlated to the way bitcoin moves.

It is cool to learn that there was also a test done for this. I am assuming that the 0.1 loss was due to some of the coins having some issues which resulted with them going down. Aside from that I am pretty sure that unless something unexpected happens, the movements are nearly the same.

I know that it will not be simple, I know that it will take time but I also know that it is a great deal that we should all be looking for most of the time. Obviously it is not going to be 100% exactly the same move, the amount it goes up and down could be different, while bitcoin goes down 5%, ETH may go down 8% and bnb may go down 3%, or same when its going up, but the direction will be the same and seeing a confirmation done in experiment is great to know.

It is necessary to be very patient to earn money on cryptocurrency market. After the fall of the market will be a growth.
But during the fall of the market it is a good time to buy tokens for the best price to have the maximum profit from investment.

It's about the herd mentality and liquidity that draws the reaction seen from altcoins after bitcoin makes its move.
Afaik what happens most of the time is, if bitcoin falls the likelihood of altcoins doing the same is almost 95% because altcoins react second after the big move and herd mentality kicks in because everyone anticipate a similar move which means most will follow this trend of pumping or dumping or if you like buying or selling.

It is undeniable that Bitcoin dominates the crypto market, which is why the price of Altcoins also follows the price of Bitcoin. most investors make Bitcoin their main investment and then invest in Altcoins. That's why Bitcoin always dominates the crypto market because it is in high demand and has good prospects too. actually, not all ALtcoins follow Bitcoin, there are some coins that can survive and rise when bitcoin is even going down but it can be said that it rarely happens and you really have to be smart in choosing it. so follow the crypto market and manage crypto assets as well as possible so that they can be profitable in the future.

This has been for long now and many Investors had asked this same question over and over again. All altcoins are all dependent on Bitcoin liquidity to move ahead. Remember that Bitcoin is the foundation of the crypto world and every other coins are built on the blockchain which constitute the reaction of other crypto currencies. Although I might be giving a weak reason but I think there is more to why all coins fluctuate along the fall and rise of Bitcoin.

It is called correlation, whenever the BTC price goes down the whole market dumps. The humans keep connecting the market fluctuations, especially on top financial tools and draw some lines on charts to predict the future potential of the trend. If the trend is down, altcoins keep losing value % in the long term. In case of BTC price loses 20% value, expect min 30% less performance by altcoin traders who gonna dump it. Watch tradingview charts and let us know what you see if you can find correlations on charts.

We can't change the nature of the market. The influence of Bitcoin in the market makes it clear that whatever happens to its price, altcoins are also affected. Like now, BTC is surging up and altcoins do the same trend. We'd see the huge buying demand causes the uplift scenario, keeping the momentum for Bitcoin makes the market go bullish. We just hope that there is no huge sell-off taking place as this will stop the current momentum and expect for price rollback.

This is indeed commonly seen every year, and we must know that bitcoin is the king of all coins and it would be very natural for altcoins to follow the flow of bitcoin, but this year the movement of altcoins is very slow even though bitcoin is experiencing a very large increase but some altcoins still have not moved to the highest value as we expected, There are even some altcoins that have gone down and no longer increased until finally there is no value anymore.

Bitcoin is a lot bigger than all the other coins, we are talking about like hundreds even thousands of coins combined, at one point it was bigger than ALL the other coins combined. Which means that the money that goes into crypto, first hits bitcoin because that is what people prefer over any other coin. This should be enough reason to make it go up.

Secondly, leverage is mainly done with bitcoin and usdt, doesn't mean that there aren't others but that is the biggest one out there. Which results with it getting a lot more and more investment as well. This all results with bitcoin deciding where the price of the crypto market will be going.

BTC is the first cryptocurrency creation and coin leader in the market such as the first seniority project, 1st trading volume, and 1st capitalization.
There are several reasons that altcoins price is up and down like BTC.
1. Traders pay attention to the market price of coin leader
2. Coin leader is a favorite investment with altcoins projects.
3. There is a very minimal altcoins project and got less influence from BTC caused some certain circumstances.

Based on Volume that bitcoin is the Crypto that has the highest market cap, and the Phase of the market is completely dependent on the movement of BTC in my opinion. not even many traders make their trades if the Bitcoin price doesn't go up, let alone the BItcoin price goes down. That's why I think there will be a big movement in Altcoins if the Bitcoin price is also getting better.

See Bitcoin is the king of the industry. And Altcoin has its own boys. So it is a common thing that his sons will walk just as the king will walk. This is simple. That's how the whole crypto industry comes into being. So there is no doubt that when Bitcoin comes down, so does Altcoin. But when Bitcoin goes up, Altcoin will come up again, because Bitcoin is the king and people's trust in it is the highest while altcoin has a bit of a flaw.
