“We’re working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term," Meta (FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at a panel at Austin’s South by Southwest Festival on Tuesday, according to a tweet from Engadget Senior Editor Karissa Bell. Zuckerberg added, however, that “I’m not ready to kind of announce exactly what that’s going to be today.”

Writer of The Verge’s Platformer newsletter, Casey Newton also tweeted that Zuckerberg "hopefully" in the coming months, Instagram users will have a new platform for minting NFTs. Even though Meta did not immediately respond to a request for more information, we can see a sign of their supporting NFTs for NFTs to step into the metaverse.

NFT's are just so popular that I am starting to see them and hear about them in places you would least be expected.  The people who are using social medias like Instagram are now talking about a block chain which just is outstanding to me.  Never I thought this could happen.

NFT can be made available on Instagram, meta recently made a huge investment in NFT and the metaverse development which will help generate more traffic and revenue to the content posting social media and the same will be introduced into Facebook too since Instagram and Facebook are owned by the same company.

NFT is the most popular and thriving project at the moment and any company that will want to remain relevant in the industry must connect to the network because a lot of new features are being exploited through NTF metaverse to bring home quality digital content.

Meta embracing NFTs is expected. The Metaverse motives and Twitter already have been implemented NFT should poke Meta about their next move. And here we are, seeing it will be available soon. Even though I don't know exactly how their NFT mints platform gonna works--wether they implemented it themselves or outsourced it to another NFT marketplace, it will be interesting to see.

Anything that already said by mark zuckerberg and im sure that will be going to happen soon. As the owner and instagram will be adding NFT feature soon. Im sure that if this will come very soon. This is interesting to see how it will be working.
This is a sense thing to happen with instagram. The NFT feature will be making anyone would be able to convert their photos into the NFT instantly i meant minted their photos to be converted into the NFT. 'We know that if instagram was a very big social media this time. I will not doubt if this is not another BS from mark. He was also feeling interesting with NFT

I think I've read it from Mark himself that he should have not announced it but gave some hint that they're really working on it. Well, a nice developing feature that would make everyone use instagram.
I don't use instagram and maybe that will make me use it in the future after observing those who are making a good run with making their NFTs through the platform. Who knows? but this is an interesting feature to wait for.

For now we do just speculate if they would implement out for themselves but i do have a doubt that it would be tagged up into another nft marketplace but lets see if they would really be doing something different.

Just like on what you had mentioned is that they are really tending to take grasps on everything which it isnt surprising that when it comes to new trend and applications then these companies

wouldnt really be letting themselves to be left behind specially recognition and popularity is really rising day by day.

pretty good news....Mark must have realized that NFT still has a large market to dominate, besides that NFT can make Instagram more attractive and maybe it can bring crypto adoption closer.  if want to start it then mark must sell NFT which is circulated soon on Instagram at a low price. 

The Instagram users are roughly 1B, which is actually big. With the exploration of NFTs via instagram, it will be a hit. Another source of income for Zuck. If they will do this right, this will be another hype coming very soon in instagram. So let's see if Zuck failed to launch Libra, we will see how far he can achieve NFTs via instagram platform.

that's good news. We do know that how popular instagram and im sure once the NFT feature will be available and this will be making so many influencers will be trying to use it and this will be massively promoting NFT to the ordinary people and i hope more people will come to the crypto caused by the popularity of NFTs.
I just wanna know about the progress of meta. The user base of this social media is so big as big as twitter.

That's good news since these social media that are owned by Zuckerberg have good traffic was good to spread the NFTs projects which are people and also easy to spread the digital art.  This was already attempted to launch in 2019 but it was not that successful they are, this was the second attempt at Meta to push metaverse development related.

We hope that there's a good development these two big companies regarding this announcement since they had the same owner who looks forward to these NFTs continuing spreading on their platform.

NFTs on centralized platform. At least they will help spread the word and more people will know about NFTs. This is probably going to be the part of the facebook Metaverse. But haven't been hearing much about the metaverse, other than lots of criticism.
Wondering is it going to be like a market place where users can buy the NFT version of the users posts? Based on how they failed on the past making their own coin Libra, let's see how well this one goes.

But what is the point of it? How those NFTs will get value and on what blockchain they will run? Guess it will be on their own with zero demand and unlimited supply. ;D

They just don't want to be left behind because if they do so, they will lose some profit due to their late action with the current NFT trends. We will see them one after another putting some NFT items on their social media platform and it will be a good thing for the metaverse as well since it is being recognized across the social media which is the best thing you could ask for if you own some expensive NFT because it would further increase its price once everyone is talking about NFTs.

Could be especially it was said by Mark. We all knew that he is a tech genius and a big fish out there. Probably they are gonna make a solid entrance on metaverse and nft industry. But Im also sure this will escalate criticism towards him. Mark has a lot of haters and we can be sure that this will be a long time debate either on authority and government.

Maybe they are all set that's why he could boast it that loud and not just give us hints of what they are working with.
The only question left is when they will release it. Perhaps what they should do now is make a step by step mechanics like what most NFT projects do.
Beta versions so that users who don't even have a single idea about it can join in.
I like what he is doing but it could lead to something bad if done wrong, it's better to prepare everyone who uses the application first.

Mark Zuckerberg created the idea for Metaverse and should therefore support it. We can see a news about Instagram and NFT. Some people may not believe in NFTs, but the idea can come as a surprise  :-\

AFAIK, he's aware of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies since a few years ago but he didn't shown it to the public. As a matter of fact, IIRC the name of his pet was bitcoin or close to that.
I guess that he just seen the disruption of NFT in technology and that's where he's going to focus more rather than with the application and adoption of cryptocurrencies on the platforms that he owns.

Why not? Instagram is one of the biggest social media right now and with the current hype of NFT still very high, then it's just a matter of time before they to ride on the bandwagon of NFT.

And if this happens, then it's going to be huge for the market again, when we thought that the NFT is slowing down, this news might bring it to the eyes of investors and crypto enthusiast again.

What will be the purpose of NFTs on Instagram? Convert user uploaded pictures and videos into NFT and trade on marketplace (no doubt that it will be their own marketplace)? That might a good idea. Popular people can sell their unique photo to fans. Unique photo as an NFT, that only NFT owner can see. That will turn Instagram into OnlyFans. Which is bad, as NFT buyers will expect to get adult content, which is prohibited on Instagram. It will go across Instagram policy.

It seems like all of platforms under meta foundation will be integrated with NFT, mark was doing this to make sure if its foundation will be one step ahead compared with the another cryptocurrency.I think that what's app will have the same feature like that once Instagram will be successfully integrating its NFT into the platform, NFT will become so big and this will be also giving direct impact to the metaverse as well.
I'm supporting this idea too. This will make crypto become even more famous among the Instagram users.

NFT coming to Instagram!  that's quite some news for the already hyped nft space, with the millions of users on that platform it will create a huge impact on the nft trend. The information is very short but am just wondering what it is going to be, how users will be able to utilize the nft features to their advantage (if it will be accessible to all users). On the other hand, i hope it won't open a flood gate of nft into the market, although no further details have been shared but it just make me wonder.

If this happens, I expect everything to be centralized or to work just like Opensea site, provided that the user can buy centrally using USD or Cryptocurrencies, and then withdraw to the wallet.

I don't expect Instagram to accept Ethereum as a currency but rather to buy NFTs with it (too good if this happen.)

Generally it will be centralized, distorted and represents the possibility of selling digital products for dollars and will not be like existing tokens.
Therefore, it will be an additional means of promotion for creators to use the platform, especially with the intense competition from TikTok and Snapchat.

If this really happens then NFT will be booming more and more, more users will be able to use limited NFT for their profile picture. I can't wait how Mark will make Instagram able to mint an NFT and what the effect of it on the crypto space because a lot of industries more accept to NFT trend right now. Let's just wait for coming months and see what happen  :)

By the looks of it, we are not really going to get anything that would be beneficial to crypto if instagram somehow added those. I mean you can still post them obviously but anyone can, the way twitter does it should be a bit different though, where it provides proof of ownership as well. In that case a bit of NFT owners would be happy about it, but that's all.

I do not think that it could have any type of impact on general crypto at all. NFT world could see a spike for a small time but that's about it, even they would go down eventually when people realize that is not a big deal. A proper utility to use them would be a lot better for the long term.

instagram honestly is a great platform, i’ve seen a lot of artists that are always showing off their arts in that platform and many of them are awesome arts that I think could have great potential if being minted as NFT and put in the opensea.
regardless of that, this also could means that the company behind the platform, have no choice but forcing themselves in the trend of NFT and maybe any other cryptocurrency technology.
they seems have figured out the real potential of this technology and think that instead of fighting it they should just use it in their advantage instead, after all company like meta always prefer the idea of having their own centralized version of things.

Glad to see this. My friends are active Instagram users and they do not even know about crypto. NFT will make them realize if there was a thing called crypto as a revolution in the economic system as it was bringing the decentralized economic system. Instagram is a photo orientated platform and it make sense to integrate it with the NFT Blockchain. Mark Zuckerberg is an innovate person and he always bring interesting updates to his social media apps and platforms.
NFT is the future and I can see some interesting projects being developed using this technology.

So far, NFT is so loved by many people, it's no wonder that Mark Zuckerberg will soon release NFT on his application.
Although it has not been proven at this time, but it is good news for twitter users.
But there is no clarity here, whether NFT is NFT from Instagram or they will create some kind of NFT market on Instagram.

Instead of adding NFT, I think it will be a good solution to start accepting Bitcoin or crypto for in-app promotion. Or create inside Instagram own payment system, as a lot of people use Instagram as a marketplace, or create shops there. It will be more convenient to tap on a picture with goods and buy them, then start conversation with seller, be redirected to web shop or get a link to perform payment (a link which sometimes is used to scam buyer).

Due to the familiar use of Instagram, perhaps the cultivation of NFT technology will attract many new NFT artists quickly because of the abundance of Instagram users for many years. Although the last few years Zuck's company has had a lot of problems with regulation, I hope this time it will work in a fully decentralized manner to maintain the integrity of the uncensored blockchain.

I remember Mark saying on some podcast that interoperability is an essential thing for their Metaverse goals, so, someway integrating various of other NFT marketplaces may like the choices, the differences is I believe due to the legal nature of the company, Meta will strictly maintain or manage of how their NFT platform going to be, surely they don't want to display like a copycat or anything that lawfully prohibited or against their community guidelines. Pretty much make it centralized.

Well considering how NFTs are being perceived by the many, I can imagine that majority portion of the Instagram would be just a marketplace now, lol. It's been a while since I heard from Zuckerberg lol.

What happened to their previous project anyway? Libra? Diem? I heard that it just died out or cancelled.

Their plan on coming up with their version of digital country just died and i would say that they spent a lot of money and time thinking that they could revolutionize the market instead of using a decentralize coin that is already in the market and i would say that is their biggest failure and now they are planning to launch NFT on Instagram and lets see how they are planning to follow the hype. 

They changed their direction and moves toward the Metaverse, now that they announced NFTs on instagram, we can expect more good projects to come and a big support towards NFT. This is a big adoption so far, if they successfully introduce NFT on their big platform, that’s a good signal for the pump.

There are still in talk with this so expect a delay but hoping that this one will push through and no more government intervention so they can finally adopt cryptocurrency especially with NFTs. There’s a big user for Instagram and if NFTs are being posted and exposed their, that could be a good exposure and we can really expect that pump since for sure many big companies will also adopt.

So now they are thinking new ways to milk there users other then Advertising business. And with there Gigantic Following, they could easily get lot of attention and will secure a good spot in NFT market too.

Even if this is a smart move, I believe it is already too late to get into NFT trend. I feel like the hype around it is melting. We no longer hear and see shocking news how someone spend thousands or millions on a rare NFT. We only see how everyone turn their projects into NFT marketplaces or implement NFT system in their project. Or we see how someone lost a lot of money by accidental mistype when creating sell offer.

Yes I think I would going to agree with your statement mage that the hype of NFT is melting now. I mean this kind of implementation of instagram that Mark Zuckerberg is implementing is kind of late. I don't know if this man is just trying to revive the hype or it is just his way to introduce to evey ordinary people about his meta projects. Well, let's see if this one will be implemented and let's see how ordinary people will going to accept it.

It's interesting because he's mentioned the possibility of actually minting the NFTs, which is quite different to what twitter is supporting right now which is simply a verified status of the NFT holders.

I think that this could be a great move, although obviously the reputation of Meta is not the best.

Web2 companies are now desperately trying to move towards Web3 as fast as they can, because they understand that being slow will leave them behind and hit their future growth prospects HARD.

Well, the truth is that I don't see that everything related to NFT will be possible soon on Instagram, not at least until everything related to NFT is launched, if this happens, it is likely that it will, just for the simple reason that NFTs do not have very good reputation for everything that happened in 2021, however NFTs have been getting ahead thanks to platforms in casinos like Rollbit that have made them believe in NFT again, but of course it is different because all the responsibility that arises is assumed by the platform, and this is something else, because trust increases and since they have a high reputation in the forum, customers believe in them much more. But for now it is very difficult for us to see NFT on Instagram, at least that is my perception.

I'm sure it's still too far. what will be the goal of Instagram with NFT? become a marketplace? wouldn't that be a shift from social media to an NFT trading marketplace? if possible. it could just be a trash can holding the NFT of anyone who freely creates and uploads it.

For me this is new news for Instagram because basically I also don't think that Instagram will put itself into NFT at this time because there are so many people who use Instagram for all purposes and it also makes Instagram more popular without having to venture into like NFT.

Instagram is indeed a popular medium and is used by many people but recognizing them on NFT through Instagram media I think it's just a waste of time because other NFTs will be born that imitate this NFT just to get their benefit and spam will occur because they create and upload it  freely and publicly.

Let's see if this can actually happen to Instagram, because so far NFT has started a lot of uncontrolled spam so that it can pollute the good name of Instagram which is also very popular even though it is not in the crypto space.
And in general I'm also not very fond of NFT at this point although I still use Instagram a lot on a daily basis.

The NFT world is still healthier, in my opinion, if the NFT moves independently depending on the fundamentals of each NFT.
