Title: Are we saying the value is more important than quantity
Post by: Zilon on March 17, 2022, 09:46:58 AM
i made a thread on  bitcoin is a game of quantity (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5389916.0) but majority are of the opinion that bitcoin price is all that matters neglecting the opportunity of that comes with the dip. My question now is what is the need of investment if the amount of coin before the dip is exactly the same during the new bump. I strongly believe if as an investor the major concern is centered only on how much you are making with your capital neglecting the chances of increasing your amount of coin in your wallet then such is more of a gambler and less of an investor

That is not actually true, it is called passive income. What is more important is that fiat is depreciative which is one of the reasons bitcoin is appreciative (increasing in value/price). Another reason is the limited supply and adoption which have significantly made bitcoin price to increase. In short, bitcoin is an appreciative asset, holding it makes its value worths more in the future.

My question now is what is the need of investment if the amount of coin before the dip is exactly the same during the new bump.
The value during the dip is the same value during the new pump? Those are some altcoins, not bitcoin, for bitcoin, all-time-high have been achieved every 4 years so far. For some altcoins, yes it is gambling.

Quantity and value of the asset is not really different things because the value of an asset comes from the demand sonif more quantity means less value but the ultimate goal is to make profits if we are talking about investors. Not everyone is having the same strategies everyone have their own and try to make money with that.

It is not correct

Quality of core ideas behind the project is decisive
How successful core ideas converted to real products is another important achievement
How successful a product is accepted by community is next important achievement

Another thing is total supply but having a small, very small total supply does not mean automatic success in value. You can clone Bitcoin source code and make another altcoin with either 21 billions of coin or 21 thousands of coin in total supply but smaller or bigger supply does not make your coin has better value than Bitcoin.

Because your coin is lack of other components for success.

Quantity and quality must come together for success.
