Title: Around 300 to 400 students will be attending my Bitcoin webinar next month
Post by: cheezcarls on March 21, 2022, 10:45:51 AM
Okay this one's is different than the one I've posted earlier: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5389967.msg59542791#msg59542791 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5389967.msg59542791#msg59542791)

The last time that I've conducted a cryptocurrency webinar was around 30+ students in one class last year and it was a success: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5321451.msg56483430#msg56483430 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5321451.msg56483430#msg56483430)

Recently, a student leader from a well-known university in the Philippines contacted me on Facebook inviting me as the guest speaker to conduct about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in a webinar session next month.

But this time, she said around 300 to 400 students from the Financial Management course are projected to attend the webinar. For me, this is going to be the biggest virtual audience that I'll be conducting a Bitcoin and crypto education session (and of course may expand my topics into NFTs, metaverse, etc.).

It means that I'll be conducting 2 seminars next month. One will be with the civil service review students, and the latest one will be the Financial Management students in a well-known university which is in the nation's capital, very far away from my hometown.

This is truly unexpecting and I am so blessed to be given this opportunity to speak once again for both physical and virtual sessions. I'm excited to be honest guys! I truly am!

UPDATE: I was informed that my webinar talk will be limited to a maximum of 40 minutes since there are other guest speakers on board too.

I know you’re as excited about it as most other people would be, but I really think you could have shared this information in the first thread because it’s on the same topic. In any case, I wish you good luck with the seminars and I hope that you will achieve success, and continue to promote Bitcoin.

Okay coz’ I think this was a different educational event compare to the first one, so that’s why I was thinking of making this as a different thread. But I understand what you mean, but thank you for the heads up.

If the mods are willing to merge this to my 1st thread, it’s okay for me and I am willing for them in doing it if it’s necessary.

Weldone for the evangelistic work of bitcoin. The quest for cryptocurrency knowledge has increased because of the bull run we experienced last year. When bear steps in, some of the student seems to quite the continuous growth groups. I am involved in cryptocurrency education, for free though.

It is extraordinary when conducting a webinar attended by hundreds of students. This will be a moment that you will never forget, where all eyes are on the material you are about to explain. The topic expansion on NFT, Metaverse etc will make the webinar more interesting. and don't forget that GameFi is also a hot topic at the moment which is also related to the Metaverse.
and don't forget to also include GOLD DIGITAL as your current sponsor.

Q&A session might be even more interesting, because many topics will be discussed.
Good Luck

We're the same. My Bitcoin and crypto education is free from the very beginning of my journey before the pandemic (but I received unexpected donations and blessings in any way). I never charge a single dime to the attendees. Even though I have from zero to a few small sponsors, I've spent most of my money in paying for the venue, food, travel ticket, hotel, etc., all thanks to the glory days of airdrops and bounties back then.

Until now I am still blessed thanks to my multiple income streams in crypto, NFTs, etc.

My mini-workshops to them are free too. I don't need to charge them because everything can be searched in the internet, even here on Bitcointalk. I don't like to be some kind of a "paid guru guy" who charges students with insane amounts just to learn into my "crypto course". Ain't a fan in doing that.

I was just passionate and energetic that's all. My goal was to spread awareness and adoption, not focusing on the price but letting them aware of the volatility and risks if some of them decide or choose to try getting into Bitcoin.

That's great you are helping Bitcoin adaption directly. It's easier to explain to students about Bitcoin technology and if they could learn from the beginning stage of the study, then they would be a perfect crypto man the near future. Because even we aren't much experienced in cryptocurrency technology. We can just use it as a currency. However, feel free to share with your student as much you know and introduce this cryptocurrency academy Bitcointalk. So they would come here to learn more.

Well done! Spreading knowledge and educating is the key to a more widespread adoption of crypto. And sure, it's great that you are giving a short talk on it, but what's really exciting is that an actual university is open-minded enough to give new ideas a chance and even bring on speakers who may know details that the professors do not. That's really optimistic because those students (students in general) will one day maybe shape the finances of governments and cities, and have a much clearer picture of what crypto is and can do. Progress will be slow, but this is the best way to do it.

Especially with the younger generations! I'm not that old but very few friends of mine take seriously the crypto world because they simply think 1) they've missed the bus 2) everything is scam, so having a group of young people who actually care about learning something that can potentially change their lives forever is great! I really hope that in the next 5-10 years learning about the crypto world will become something normal.

That is a great thing but was that just to inform us? I mean I am reading right now and trying to find a question ,or find a way that we could contribute to you but I do not know if you are looking for something or not. First of all 30 people and 300+ people are never the same. When you are doing a class to 30 people, there is a good chance you can get to know each of them, of course this is true only when you do it weekly, not just once but at least you can focus on each of them and see them.

But, when we are talking about 300+, they all just look like statistic and nothing more. This is why you need to stop focusing on each kid, and just focus on your material.

OP, good luck! Emphasize Bitcoin's ethos and social contract first, and then explain how that's achieved through the usage of Proof of Work. Satoshi truly discovered something ground-breaking. Talk about the market after 30 minutes, and explain Bitcoin's first mover advantage, network effects, and its underlying ability to absorb financial markets by making them more efficient. The dark markets are good examples in my opinion.

Since I am not the organizer and was only invited to be the guest speaker, I am not sure if the university allows outsiders to watch. But most likely not, because as the organizer said, it’s only exclusive to the financial management students of that university. However, I’ll try to ask them for a copy of the replay if it’s possible. The target date for that event was in the last week of April.

Sure I’ll take note of these. I still have at least a month to prepare myself, gathering all of the information to be put to my slides. I already have my old slides from last year and can still use them, but I may have to update some of them though with the inclusion of NFTs, metaverse, etc. But the main focus is Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general for their real use cases and fundamentals as well as giving them advice in risk management.

Is it a free webunar? If so, I am very interested in joining. Anyway, you're doing a very noble thing regardless of being oaid or not because by doing this, you are opening new doors for everyone that'll be attending the webinar. This will also be a huge help in spreading awareness about this industry and hastening mass adoption even more. Wishing you all the best in the upcoming webinar and that you'd be at your best shape to be able to properly explain the topics you're going to tackle for the sake of everyone in attendance.

If only I were the organizer of this event, I would give webinar access to the outsiders. However, the university is the one organizing this webinar event and they said it's only exclusive for the financial management students. It's not only for one class, but the entire department which it's approximately 300 to 400 students expected to attend.

Since I am only limited to 40 minutes, I'll just simply explain about the real and positive use cases of Bitcoin, risk management, difference between centralized and decentralized, introducing some top altcoins and expanding a bit into NFT, metaverse, etc. I'll just simply compress them all in my Powerpoint slides. Sure I'll keep you guys updated since the much-awaited virtual event will be on the last week of April.

Very happy to see you are doing such a thing to make people familiar with bitcoin and investing assets, since I had some webinars and learning sessions about investing for the students of a university where I got my bachelor's degree I can give you a few suggestions about the webinar, firstly you can start with telling them about investing and give them some tips and book names to read so they would have some investing knowledge before doing anything and then you can create a timeline for your webinar to manage this 40 minute for them.

Encourage their imagination by talking about "blockchain". Tempt their greed by talking about "Bitcoin six digits". BUT I believe we must educate the newbies about the basic, ELI5 technical side of Bitcoin for them to have a solid foundation in understanding cryptocurrencies. It goes back to the white paper, and what made everything stick together, POW.

Goodluck! talking in a large audience can be unnerving I wish you the best.

just curious what university is it? is it UP, FEU, De La Salle, Ateneo, UST, etc...? anyway, the fact that they ask you to do this seminar and there are 300-400 students attending only shows that universities are taking notice that cryptocurrency and possibly the importance of it in the economy.

You're really blessed for this type of opportunity. Only a few folks gets this invitation to talk with hundreds of students, I'm thinking it would be the best feeling if it's on live and not on a webinar.

But considering the situation of the covid-19 pandemic and it's still there although many countries are starting to loosen their tight restrictions, it's still best to conduct this event with that crowd online.

Good luck cheezcarls.

Man, sucks to know that. Oh well it is what it is. I have to compliment the people within the university that are behind the idea of having this webinar though. Not all schools have enough open minded faculty staffs to actually push such an event which tackles abkut a topic that isn't that much appreciated or understood yet. Would have been really nice had I been in such an amazing university as the one had you invited. Oh well, good luck brother.

Since they are into financial management, I think I don’t want to cover too much technical stuff about it. Maybe only the basic purpose of blockchain as well as the history, fundamentals, real use cases and citing some examples of BTC being adopted worldwide.

How I wish it would be with the actual live crowd. Because of my tight schedule, and it needs me to buy a round trip plane ticket to fly to their city in order to conduct the educational seminar (unless they’re the ones who wanna sponsor me the ticket and accommodation just in case), it’s better to go for webinar as it can save me both time and money.

I'm happy you get opportunities to talk about Bitcoin to students. Hundreds of listeners is very cool, but it also means higher responsibility and importance of choosing the right messages and shape the right attitude toward it. If it's exclusively for those students, I suppose it won't be recorded, but will you perhaps have a presentation along with your talk which you could perhaps share on the forum? In any case, good luck with both events, and thank you for spreading knowledge about Bitcoin and crypto-related stuff to younger generations.

This isn’t the first time I am conducting an event with hundreds of students. Last time, the biggest was around 700 to 800 students and teachers combined which was a physical event before the pandemic.

As for the 300 to 400 students, this is a virtual event. So it may not be the biggest that I have ever conducted in my whole life, but rather the biggest “virtual” event for me. Coz’ I never conducted a virtual event with hundreds of students before, so this is on a whole new level. Hopefully one day I can reach a thousand physical and “virtual” attendees in the future.

I may ask them if it’s going to be recorded because I want to have a copy of my own too.

I am sure that without a doubt it will exceed the number in attendance, if people go to live concerts of some artists that are not so relevant in life, I think that talking about BTC to so many people is something important, and everything is that people they will always seek to have more information about how to get more money, obviously people associate btc with money, the issue of worldwide regulations in some countries for the acceptance of BTC is something that many have seen in the news and in some way they have been interested, especially when you tell someone that if they invest $44k right now, the btc can increase to $100k more at any time, this is something that lights up anyone's life.

Even though we have talked a lot and explained that there are many benefits that they can get when they invest in bitcoin, but for those who do not have fixed capital they will think again even though their desire is great.
What you say will be realized by those who have large funds or capital so they can buy at $44k and keep it until the price breaks through $100k.

I just got an update from the university. Looks like this isn’t what I am expecting.

Initially, they wanted me to talk about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, but they’ve never clarified to me about the specifics as I thought I’m going to educate them something newbie-friendly like basic terminologies about Bitcoin, blockchain, cryptos, setting up wallets, ways to earn, etc., which it’s what I have done from the past.

But now, they’ve assigned me a topic in which isn’t that I am good at. Despite that I am already into cryptocurrencies for a few years, reading charts and technical analysis aren’t my forte as I was just “one” of the speakers for that virtual week event of theirs. I’m not a day trader or doing full-time with it. I only knew the basic functions of crypto trading, but not going deeper when it comes to technical analysis.

In that session, I’ll be given 30 minutes for my speaking engagement and 10 minutes for Q & A. Because of the technical analysis topic that they’ve assigned to me, I’m not comfortable with that and may have to pass this opportunity.

I currently asked them if they can change the assigned topic to something that I am more knowledgeable which are non-technical and general stuff about the basics. However, if they don’t, I’m afraid I have to decline their invitation and look elsewhere. I’m still waiting for their response.

And also about the civil service review students schedule this month, sad to say that it will be moved to August since that’s the exact opening of the classes to kickoff the real momentum like not focusing on one class only, but can be expanded to different classes.

Will update here about the developments.

Too bad to hear that man.
If it is be going to happen that they will pursue their plan and assigned a topic to you which you are not familiar with, declining their invitation is the best idea rather than compromising your reputation.

I know you can make a good discussion and give knowledge to the virtual audience but it was best if you are really confident with the topic assigned and have a long experience as in the case of & A portion is something easy for you to answer and talk about.

I am not a trader or technical analyst myself, but you have one month to get ready. If you have the time and patience, I think you can learn quite a lot about how to trade and analyze charts. And who knows, maybe that knowledge can be the beginning of a new chapter in your life that gets you deeply engaged in trading.

I remember there was quite a lot of talk about educational trading courses in our local Croatian board sometimes in the last 2 years. I could maybe try to find some recommended videos and materials the guys suggested if you aren't going to give up on the idea of holding that seminar.

Actually it's less than 20 days from now......

Even if these recommended videos and materials you've mentioned are going to be some kind of help, the Q & A part from the students is the one I am concerned about because of my lack of knowledge in the technical analysis side of trading Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. This would trigger my anxiety if I can't answer a specific question from them, and I don't want to show to them that I am nervous because of my lack of technical analysis knowledge. But I would love to use these recommended videos and materials as reference for the future if I am finally ready to talk about technical analysis.

So I don't have enough time to "master" this TA topic as I have heavy workload ahead for this month, so I could end up having a body and mind fatigue. If I want to cover the technical analysis, I should be more confident and ready for both the presentation as well as the impromptu Q & A or AMA from the audience by studying and mastering it. But for less than 20 days from now, I don't think I'm ready. If they choose to go with my request in the non-technical side and just simply basic terminologies and use cases, I'm more comfortable with that.

To follow up on this one, I've also realized that they've changed the date in the PDF file they've sent me without informing me in advance. Initially the date we've agreed is on the 22nd, but instead it'll be on the 24th which is Sunday. Unfortunately I have a very important schedule on that day. Plus, it also looks like that they're not willing to change the topic that I was assigned as well as the date and time.

So I have no choice but to inform them that I am backing out. Although it was supposed to be a great opportunity for me, but unfortunately it's something that I can't agree for both the topic of choice and the change of date.

I'll just simply wait for the next opportunity that makes me comfortable with both the topic and the date/time, but I'm not in a rush.

True, there are lots of people who don’t have much capital to spare when it comes to investing in Bitcoin. But, I think as youths, it is very important that they learn to invest from now, because it is going to help them and they will be happy in the future that they did start investment at this early age.

Right now, I believe that what really matters is that they learn everything about cryptocurrencies, and when they get to realize how useful it is, they will feel the urge to invest in it. When you feel the urge to do something, you’re going to do whatever possible to see that you accomplish that.

That's too bad. Looks like it wasn't meant to be. Seemed like a great opportunity for someone who likes public appearances and making speeches and seminars. Any chance you could still attend and listen to the person who would do the presentation instead of you? That could provide you with some good info on how it's supposed to look. In the future, you would know what to expect. Who knows, maybe it isn't as hard as you anticipate. But I understand that you prefer to back out instead of beginning with something you can't fully devote yourself to.

Well, OP ... I hope this is your opportunity to become the next Andreas Antonopoulos in the world of Bitcoin. Just one thing..... I do not know if it is a good thing to promote NFT's .....  ::) ... I will rather warn people about the dangers of this new trend, than encouraging them to invest in it.

You are going to have a tough time with the old school teachings of the Fiat focused education system, so I hope you will be able to handle that. It will be nice if someone can record this for us and then post it on Youtube ... hint hint.  ;)

Seems like you have carried out the seminar already, judging from the date that this was posted in the forum, and I hope that it was a huge success. I can also that you were given a limited time of 40 minutes, which I wouldn’t say is bad.

With forty minutes of time you will be able to touch a lot of topics concerning Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general, if you were able to arrange yourself properly and plan everything ahead of time and how you were going to deliver your lessons. It’s good to see that students are now ready to learn about cryptocurrency, it is sure going to help them in Future.

This is a very great development and we are so happy for you. This will increase your knowledge and understanding about the cryptocurrency as you pass it on to others. This is not your first time teaching students, am sure this would be a great one too. I wish you all the best in it. Keep us updated on how it goes.
