Title: Finally in the Hero club!
Post by: cheezcarls on March 22, 2022, 04:15:21 PM
Ever since Bitcointalk introduced the Merit system, I was stuck on being a Sr. Member for a few years. I was having an up and down journey, becoming inconsistent, making mistakes, etc. It was not easy to rank up these days. There are no shortcuts, I've got to earn it even if it took me a long while to get there. I remember the day that I've applied the "law of attraction" to myself that there come a time that I'll finally become a Hero Member.

However, I had a different perspective in mind. Instead of focusing on the merits or pressuring myself to rank up, I rather keep contributing as much as I can that would be beneficial for the community without minding the merit and rank. I treated both merits and rank up as just bonus blessings to me, so I'm just being happy to be here with the community.

And I told myself that later on that day that I was waiting for will finally come. And that day is today.

I kept improving myself, having the willingness to accept, correct and adjusting to my mistakes, emptying my cup, being humble and staying low key, helpful and giving value to the community without expecting anything in return. Like what I have learned from the previous years, no one will be inspired of my story if I didn't undergo struggles, failures, rejections, obstacles or even experiencing the worst things in my life. But I never gave up and keep going. I always believe that whatever journey I have as long I overcome these obstacles, it'll be worth it and gonna bear fruits.

And here I am today, officially a Hero Member.

I would like to make a special mention and big thanks to the following who have supported my posts from time to time: Ratimov (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2627711), DdmrDdmr (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1582324), The Pharmacist (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=487418), Welsh (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=84521) and _BlackStar (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2867307). I also would like to thank the rest as well who have seen some of my contributions are helpful and valuable to them and the rest of the community.

We all know that becoming Legendary is definitely much more beneficial as a long-term goal. But I'll stick to my goal which is to focus on being helpful and not chasing after merits and rank-ups. And most importantly, always following the house rules & enjoying my time contributing here on Bitcointalk.

I hope this post of mine would inspire others in any way. Thanks everyone and God bless!

I mean, congratulations!

I've not seen these sort of congratulatory posts around the forum for some time. Congratulations on your new rank.

We all know that becoming Legendary is definitely much more beneficial as a long-term goal.
I'm not aware of any benefits of being a legendary ranked member. The closest to any benefit would be earnings in signature campaigns, but that does not differ much between hero and legendary. Many projects group both ranks to the same cadre.

Thank you so much and I really appreciate it. I'll keep continuing on what I am passionate the most here in this wonderful crypto forum. I would forever be grateful. I just don't know where I would be without knowing this forum years ago. This is where my early days of crypto journey have begin. Amazing community as always!

I mean it's the highest rank right for a normal community member, right? It's like when we call ourselves as "legendary" the feeling is much more greater. But of course, it means nothing if we do something stupid that would affect our trust and reputation.

Integrity, trust and reputation are much more valuable than the amount of wealth we have.

And yes that's true. Getting higher stakes, rates and opportunities in signature campaigns alone was the closest of them all in terms of "benefits".  ;D

But yeah it's been a long journey, but with a great feeling after reaching the light at the end of the long tunnel.

Well deserved progress. Quality and knowledge is the focus and so far the forum has ensured every merit earned is for the deserved and not those who feel entitled. Congratulations i know this should be a reward for a passionate crypto talker specifically a bitcoin talker and more. I am drawing inspiration from this

Congratulations, OP!
I've been seeing your posts frequently both in our Filipino local board as well as in Bitcoin Discussion.
Really interesting topics you brought up! I never got a chance to hop into discussion though.

You won't feel stuck if you enjoy the discussion more than thinking about rank, and any rank is welcome to contribute. But congratulations, it must be nice on your first rank up after the merit system is implemented.

You marked yourself 100 out of 100
Luckily there are no self-marking clubs either. I thought I wouldn't enter.

I know this feeling 😏, having passed through it myself after what seemed like forever for me. I was at Senior rank when the merit system was implemented and it looked like I was going to be stuck there forever. Ranking up to Hero was at snail speed or less than that for me. But benevolence found me after that and getting to legendary wasn't such a drag like what I experienced moving into hero. I'm sure you're in a glee right now. May benevolence also locate you henceforth. Enjoy the moment and congratulations.

And here I am today, officially a Hero Member.
Congratulations mate, users experience different speed levels in their quest for a new rank, yours might have taken quite a while, but now it is finally here i am pretty sure it now feels like the wait was actually worth it. With the introdiction of the merit system ranking up has little or no shortcuts, so a lot of it is on the level of quality displayed by individual users, so well done in getting to this stage. Legendary rank might seem far now, but 'more of the same please' and you'll be there eventually, congratulations once again.

And here I am today, officially a Hero Member.

I'm always quick to congratulate anyone i see who has achieved something that i desire. :) I don't mean to be superstitious, but i believe in doing so, we put ourselves next in line for our own. Big congratulations mate, i haven't achieved the Hero rank yet, and can't say how it feels, but one thing i know for sure with achieving a higher rank in this forum is that more becomes expected from you in terms of the quality of your expression so that newbies and other lower rank members like myself still looking up to the likes of you with higher ranks will not be disappointed at your contribution. I wish you well in this new achievement, and your journey to a new milestone (legendary) smooth.

I kept improving myself, having the willingness to accept, correct and adjusting to my mistakes, emptying my cup, being humble and staying low key, helpful and giving value to the community without expecting anything in return.

Thank you for sharing this to forum as well, how you achieved this milestone. I think many newbies and others who don't know yet, have a thing to learn from here that providing value should be the primary concern, to become a valuable member to this forum.

Congratulation to you. Ranking up to hero member is a big milestone from being once a newbie to a higher rank member of the forum. A dedicated work calls for a celebration when reaching a loving status quo. A well-deserved rank.
Congratulations once more

Congrats again

Just like yourself, I ranked up as a Hero Member something in February but, just couldn't make out the time to congratulate myself. No doubt, it felt good and all and it was very much desiring at the point I got a lot closer but after I attained it, I just had to keep pushing for what was of the most importance and that is, impacting and gaining knowledge off the forum. Also, the signature benefits!

Although, I can tell you now that it is a breath taking milestone and you to have archived this proves your long term attachment and consistency with the forum. Its not easy anyway and you made it. Congratulations and keep up the good work that brought you this length.

Great to see you ranking up and we know its quite hard to reach that milestone since getting some merits is quite hard to reached.

Anyways congratulations, Road to legendary will surely be the next target this is quite hard but for people who have goals like you and other forum users for sure we can reach that in future we only need to be consistent and be active always on the discussions happen here.

You have managed to reach the hero rank after a long time as your account has been registered in 2014 so almost 8 years journey to reach this rank on the forum. You have earned 253 merits and 79 in the last 120 days which is good.It was difficult for many members to grow after the merit system implementation but you slowly have grown and now @Ratimov helped you to climb to next rank so congratulations for the same.

But i would say if you have been around here for so long you must be aware about these self congratulatory threads are deemed to be of low quality so there's no fun of making them. This is because many members reach new ranks at different times and if every one of them start creating these then B&H section will be flooded with spam threads so avoid them and keep your effective work on the forum.

Congratulations to you. Reaching 500 merits is something to be proud of and self congratulations is not off the table. I’m still on my journey to get there, making 400 merit mark is taking longer than I wish. In retrospect, the merit system makes our journey from newbie to legendary enjoyable in a way. Enjoy your new chapter to Legendary

I know it's a very happy feeling to have become a current Hero member and continue to achieve legendary.

There is still a long way to go, but the forum will remain open at any time so that even the highest-ranking will be achieved someday, the most important thing is that the contribution to the forum will not stop forever.

Will be the motivation of many people for having reached the Hero.

Congratulations.

Yes my account was registered in 2014. But I was inactive for more than 3 years because I have no clue on what BTC is all about. I just simply registered and did nothing after all until I returned sometime in the middle of 2017 because of BTC’s price jumping to $10k+.

I was on and off, inconsistent and having lack of knowledge back then, making mistakes, low quality posts, etc. But being consistent made me learned a lot, take it one day at a time and just treating both merits and rank ups as bonus or “blessings in disguise”.

I am still learning though on how others are ranking faster in a short span of time in a “no shortcut way”. Either way, i’m enjoying it even if it takes long for me to reach my goal. I’m lovin’ it!

Congratulations to you. Reaching 500 merits is something to be proud of and self congratulations is not off the table. You’ll get there believe me. Just keep loving on what you do. Contribute and give value to the community without expecting anything in return. Be passionate. Keep learning on why others are achieving their goals so fast. You gotta earn it. We all started from scratch, so just enjoy the journey even if there are many obstacles and challenges coming in your way. You can do it!

I do agree with Upgrade00 that the only benefits of reaching Legendary Rank is the extra privilege of earning more BTCs in campaign signatures. However, there are also several campaign signatures that offer equal rates between Hero and Legendary ranks which somehow renders it immaterial.

Regardless, I do congratulate you OP for reaching this rank. I remember my journey when the merit system was introduced. I really thought that it would be impossible to rank up given the scarcity of sMerits but over the years of development, more merits were being circulated and more posts were merited. Now that you reached this rank, I hope your journey continues in reaching Legendary Rank!

This different perspective is needed by newbies or people who want to stay on this forum. Because if you only chase rankings sometimes you don't focus on the quality of the posts you make. Contributions that are useful and help members here will certainly be very much needed. Merit is just a bonus if you get it. Many members will appreciate you with good contributions and original posts.

I see some of your posts are very good and the sentences you use are easy to understand. I started to pay attention to you when you were accepted into the Bounty Signature GOLD, because the Bounty GOLD TOKEN is very selective in choosing participants for the Signature campaign.

Congratulations, you've been ranked as a Hero Member, there is still a Legendary rank that you need to achieve. But your journey will not be finished even if the Legendary Rank has been reached, this is still the beginning, and start everything with a good and useful contribution. Good luck bro.

I know that feeling because I have lived that moment myself. Even I had turned Hero just a few months back and the feeling was literally good.
Although I didn't care much about the merits myself the satisfaction of ranking up was immensely great.
As you said, we should definitely just focus on trying to contribute more towards this forum and care less about ranking up and merits.
That way we never have to worry about any of those things while still enjoy being around discussing and sometimes debating with the geniuses around.
The one thing I like the most about this forum is the immense amount of knowledge that it freely provides and I am thankful for that.  :)

Congrats on your achievement. Slow growth is better than running fast and falling down. I mean a couple of users I have seen on the forum run too quick and earn a lot of merits. But eventually, their account got banned or tagged by DT members due to suspicious activities. However, earning merits shouldn't aim for any member, otherwise, you can't concentrate on the contribution. But if you concentrate on the contribution merit would walk by following you. Just keep your contribution and walk to the way Legendary. You don't need to run and rush.

I had a similar experience as you and I think it gives me a feeling of satisfaction when the target is reached "Legendary" although it takes some time to reach this rank.

By now you should know that Legendary is not an impossible rank for you if you are able to maintain the quality of your posts and consistent contributions. But first, congratulations to you who managed to reach Hero member. Now you only need less than 500 merit to reach Legendary and I hope you can do it quickly.

OP, you registered on bitcointalk before I did, and I'm very surprised you haven't made it to Legendary yet--it's not like your posts don't deserve merits, and I don't know why you haven't earned more than you have.  My best guess would have to be that you haven't made enough posts since the merit system started.  People may not realize that in addition to being a quality poster, you kind of have to be a prolific one as well, because even excellent posts tend to go un-merited more often than not.

If you're interested in having me do a monthly post history review, feel free to send me a PM every 30 days and I'll see what I can do to nudge you along to Legendary status, which you very much deserve IMO.

I do agree with Upgrade00 that the only benefits of reaching Legendary Rank is the extra privilege of earning more BTCs in campaign signatures.
That and it's an ego boost for some as well--hence all the threads by members telling the community when they've ranked up.  I'm pretty sure cheezcarls didn't create this thread because he's just itching to earn more in a sig campaign.  It's nice to be in the rarified air of the Hero/Legendary ranks, because most new members will likely never achieve them unless they stick around for a long time.

Yes I was inconsistent in doing posts (especially more than 3 long years of being inactive after registering an account and do nothing because of lack of knowledge and understanding) and also busy traveling here and there until the pandemic came.

Now that I am working at home for most of the time with other projects, it's time for me to keep learning and making progress of my journey. I'm taking it one day at a time.

To be honest, I loved the word "Legendary". I really do. Earning more from a signature campaign is just another "bonus blessing" for me aside from merits and ranking up. I'm just having fun, being passionate on what I do to help, giving advice, sharing new stuff going on in crypto, etc. I always believe in delayed gratification, as I keep giving without expecting anything in return (but was blessed unexpectedly in many ways).

Although delayed, I still want to make comments on your topic.
You reached Hero rank before me, and also congratulated me before. It was my turn to do it, despite being late. I congratulate cheezcarls on your achievement because it is identical to mine from a formal point of view, but in fact,  the path to a new rank is different for everyone, special and individual.

I paid attention to the date of your registration on bitcointalk and the date 2014 discouraged me a little. On this occasion, I immediately had 2 thoughts:
- Omg, within about 4 years of the old era, you could have become Legendary long ago! This is what it means to take small steps, but to do them constantly. I assume that at that time you didn't seek to increase the rank and visited this forum from time to time, no more. I have about the same case. Therefore, you are forgiven. :)
- Against the background of your personal history, my case seems to be something insignificant and your path to Hero Member is much longer and more difficult.

I am grateful that you created this topic and wrote your kind words, sharing your "philosophy" and views. They fill with "grace". In my opinion, this really deserves attention and may inspire new forum users to new productive and useful achievements. I like your attitude to merit and rank from the standpoint of the "law of attraction" - what should happen will definitely happen if make efforts and be active in it. Trying to give more to the community and giving it our time and energy, we always get much more, albeit not immediately, albeit in a completely different form, but the "boomerang" returns one way or another. And this is not about ranks and merits at all. This can be considered a nice addition.

Congratulations once again on your long awaited achievement and thank cheezcarls that there is such a patient person on forum with his unusual views, which, by the way, showed that the methodology he uses works. Take advantage of this technique, beginners.
