Carrot is a company that pays small amounts of Bitcoin for completing different tasks. You get sats in your carrot app and then you can withdraw them to your own lightning wallet. You can also read Bitcoin Magazine articles directly from the app to get some free sats as well.

After you read the material and watch the videos, there are some quizzes. If you get at least 90% correctly, you get a few sats.

This might be something that helps educating the population in general in an easy way, and also they can get a few sats for free while doing so. Also, more advanced courses coming in the future might be interesting for bitcoiners.

The final assessment is really hard though... Has anyone succeeded?

It's a lovely initiative! I haven't heard of the company before, though, so what is its reputation? I tried googling it, but the name is not helping to get the relevant results, and those I got were, I think, for a different company called Carrot (a food store). Of course, the payments are probably tiny anyway, but reputation matters for other reasons, such as being sure that installing it is safe and doesn't add any malware, for example, or that the information one has to learn is accurate. Has anyone tried these courses? What was your impression?

Good idea to popularize bitcoin. Perhaps this topic would be more suitable for the beginners' section. Although the forum is not a dense forest, interested people will surely find it here.
Today, I often come across similar topics with various kinds of lessons that explain all the technical and useful educational points step by step and in an accessible form. This is the most important tidbit for beginners in their self-education.

This is a very good initiative. It should be something we remember when introducing

While their website seems way too minimalistic and lacking some information, which is probably due to being a newly launched platform, I'd still be interested in trying out one of their courses. I don't mind the reward, chances are that it's a few Satoshi at most, just to understand the concept of transactions.

Quite a few years back, I used to play on a Minecraft server which rewarded you with Satoshi for playing on their server, while also educating you on the basics of cryptocurrencies. I believe that both cases had/have great initiative.

Now that's a good way to get more people engage on learning and then they earn at the same time, couldn't be more exciting kind of site. I guess through time the site will improve and it's not that bad even right now, it just need improvement and maybe a FAQ page will do e.g. how much sats is the minimum withdrawal.

2500 is the minimum sats withdrawal. Once you get that, you can transfer them to any lightning wallet.

What is not clear to me is what is in it for them. Faucets for example, give you free sats because they attract people and then many of those people end up betting and losing money, so what they give for free ends up turning into a profit for them.

I have looked at theirr website but it is not clear to me what theirr business model is and I don't want to sign up.

I am going to try this definitely. I just hope they don’t have geo location restriction for this app. I’m just wondering what’s in it for them to pay out like this in the first place? I mean does app collects any data in the background or works to earn some sats to spread little sats out of it?
Whatever it may be I just hope it’s straight in its ToS and free to use app.

I love micro earnings a lot and I’m always putting more and more ways in my portfolio so that collectively it would become good income source.

Carrot can be a good initiative for people to get to know more of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency and get something out of their education by receiving some sats. This is actually attractive and I consider this to be an Educate and Earn program. We need more programs like this so we can help Bitcoin really get into the mainstream populations especially the younger generation where Bitcoin interest can be increasing.

If I'm not mistaken in the Bitcoin Magazine channel they also do the same thing, a kind of basic education in Bitcoin funding completing weekly assignments and at the end if the results are 20 days of learning we will be given a few Sats. I don't know if the program is still running or not, but since I joined, notifications every week to complete assignments about Bitcoin always come in via email messages.

Thanks for this information OP, never heard of the company before like the other people in this forum but I will gladly check them out, nothing to lose trying them out right? Hopefully this isn't just some site that does pay sats but at a really infinitesimal amount that you're time doing other things might do you more good.

Yes I really agree that programs like that should be maintained and exemplified for the development of young people about the crypto world so that they can also know what bitcoin is and how the future of bitcoin looks forward to them they must also know because the more knowledge about bitcoin.the development of bitcoin in life  and the crowd is increasing.
And this can help grow positive traits towards bitcoin in the future.

Woah, another caller to bitcoin, with free sats too. This is a good initiative especially for the people who want to learn, this way they would be encourage to learn. Who would've do such a move? Good thing there are this kind of app that exist. Not only people will learn about Crypto but also gain small amounts too. Good thing April is still days ahead, or I would not believe this in the first place.

I am curious where they are getting those bitcoins that they are giving away to their users?

I am also glad they are using Lightning Network for this, as it will help to advertise the Lightning Network to other people and people will start to adopt and will become a big help for Bitcoin too.

I believe that the point isn't to earn Bitcoin, but to give you the initiative to learn about it. Certainly, you shouldn't expect to earn much (if any at all), since the point is to educate people, it's an introduction to Bitcoin, not a way to earn money.

The reward is most likely to lure users into acquiring more information, thus, introducing them to cryptocurrencies. Perhaps, if it was a simple guide, then it wouldn't attract much attention.

A bit of an update.

Let's start with the Carrot company. It was created in 2020.


If you trust Bitcoin Magazine, you would trust Carrot, as they are both coming from the same company:


The purpose of Carrot is the following:


Basically the idea is that brands and companies create tasks and publish them somewhere. Then people can complete those tasks, and receive a carrot code when done. This code is then redeemable in the Carrot app for sats. Basically a form of micro-payment.

Once you reach to 2500 sats or more in the app, you can withdraw it to your lightning wallet. You can use any lightning wallet you want, but for very small amounts you might want to use a custodial wallet, like Wallet of Satoshi, to not pay for any fees. If you want to use a non-custodial wallet, then Muun is probably your best bet as you don't even have to care or pay for opening channels. You just receive the full amount for free(explanations about how Muun does this is off-topic). Of course you can just use your own lightning node and take care of the channels if you want to.

Now, about the courses in particular. I completed the Intro to Bitcoin course. It gives a brief introduction about how money works, and why Bitcoin is better than fiat. It has 3 sections composed of text with images, and one video per section. Each section ends with a quiz. If you answer 90% right they give you 500 sats every time, for a total of 1500 sats if you complete the course. These sats are given to your carrot account.

If you want to see another course, there's Bitcoin's Magazine's 21 Days of Bitcoin, which sends you via email 21 lessons, one every day. After that there's a quiz, and if you get it right, they give you 2100 sats in the Carrot app.

As you can imagine, it's not a way to make you rich, it's mostly designed to introduce people to Bitcoin. If you're in Bitcoin Miami 2022 you'll probably see Carrot there giving sats for free to attendees.

This is actually good for crypto beginners, while learning something about bitcoin, they have the chance to earn some satoshis. So it is an an encouragement for them to take the short course seriously, in order, to get those satoshis. In this manner, they are also learning how to use an app to manage their crypto portfolio. For me, it is like hitting 2 birds in one stone. The user is educating himself about bitcoin and at the same time getting some satoshis that will be a start of his journey on how to transact with bitcoin or any cryptocurrency. I hope many newcomers will find this site and take it seriously.

Sounds great initiative which gives you reward in sats while you learn about bitcoin in real life.This is good way because when there are rewards associated with something people automatically get stick to it even if the amount is low but in this case they could learn about btc also and clear their doubts.Will surely try it and have look at what task they have for members.

Carrot app only works with lightning. There's no on-chain transactions, so there's almost no fees.

If you use a custodial lightning app the fees are basically zero. Also you can use Muun as a non-custodial wallet to receive the sats for free.
