Title: Simple Calculation
Post by: JailHouse on March 28, 2022, 07:13:24 PM
If BTC/USDT rises from 36660 to 38694 (rises exactly 2034.24 Satoshis), and I invest $100, how much USD would I make at the end of it?

The reason I ask is because a backtest strategy is showing something ridiculous. So just want confirmation first before posting the image.

It's simple really: based on the numbers that you provided, you would profit 5.54% or $5.54 if you invest $100. Whats the number that you are getting?

$38694 divided by $36660 = 1.005548

For $100
$100 multiply by 1.005548 = $105.548

Rikafip has given you the answer but just showing you how to calculate it, it is not hard to calculate. You will just use the initial price to divide the final price and multiply it by your investment capital which is $100.

Great, that's exactly what I thought, but have a look at the image below.
Can you tell me why it's saying $2034 profit?

This is with a starting amount of $100 USD.

There is no how that BTC/USDT will rises from 36,660 to 38,694, and it will give you exactly 2034 Satoshi.
So please note, that is not Satoshi but instead, 2034USDT, which is equivalent to dollar rate.

Because 1USD = 2077.085 satoshi
 So, 2034USD = 4,223,617 Satoshi

Check in the image below 👇

1usdt to Satoshi

And,  2034usdt to Satoshi is also given in the image below 👇👇👇

So looking at the rise of value of Bitcoin to USDT which you just gave above, we could say that the price of Bitcoin rose by 5.55%,

because 5.55% of 36,660usdt will give you 2034usdt, which if you add it you get 38,694usdt

You can see it in the image below 👇👇
5.55% of 36,660usd

So, that means if you had invested $100 worth of Bitcoin, by now you would have gotten a 5.55% interest of your capital, which is $5.55

See it in the image below 👇👇
5.55% of 100usd

Thanks.. I hope you understood all what I explain?

Note: Bitcoin always rises or fall by percentage %

Ok, thanks for that detailed explanation. I understand it much better now.

I was just wondering why it doesn't show me my exact Dollar profit in Tradingview when viewing the backtest of the strategy.

Any idea how to make t show that?

It does, but It's showing the rise in value (profit) of the full asset,  which is 1 Bitcoin and not the $100 you were expecting. That figure which is above the 5.55% is the profit in USD of 1 BTC.

Just multiply the percentage profit recorded by what you invested in to be able to see the actual profit of your investment
