Title: Can I safely run my S17+ hashboard with 2 missing heatsinks - long term Post by: Ivanko88 on March 31, 2022, 01:07:35 PM Two of my chips got stuck to the heatsink when it dropped, whilst im arranging it to be repaired, can I safely run the board?

The above post is right its easy to reattach them but without BGA hot air tool you can't able to reattach them. Title: Re: Can I safely run my S17+ hashboard with 2 missing heatsinks - long term Post by: GFDhd on July 20, 2022, 02:26:33 AM I don't recommend running when lack 2 heatsink. The 17 series miner uses low temperature tin, and does not use thermosetting adhesive to connect the heat sink like the s9, so the heat sink can easily oxidize and fall off under high temperature conditions. If you want to solder the heatsink back, you need to clean your ASIC chip before soldering. And if the chip surface has been oxidized to black or gray, or the gray crystal on the chip surface has been defective, it is recommended that you replace it, because these conditions will affect the heat dissipation and stability of the chip.
