Title: Leave of absence
Post by: NotATether on April 01, 2022, 09:59:16 PM
Due to the clusterfuck situation at home, I cannot continue my online activities until May (most likely May 5).

This topic serves as a general notice of a temporary leave of absence and I will sign a message from an address of mine when I come back.

Welcome back. I hope all is good now, or at least better.

(Message is verified too.)

Since you are back, and I hope everything is OK. Are you planning to do anything with this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5322560.20
Somewhere someplace I have a text file with a bunch of updates I was thinking needed to be done. Would go dig it up.

Welcome back. I hope everything is okay where you are. Sorry this might be off topic but I have to ask, is this customary for one to create a thread like this when leaving the forum for a period of time to maybe prevent someone accessing the account? Should the account suddenly come online before the supposed time stipulated, and doesn’t sign a message before posting on multiple threads. Do DT members flag the account? Thanks

No, that's not how DT works; it would only raise a few eyebrows as to why he suddenly appeared online earlier than stated; sometimes an urgent business may bring him in for a few minutes, and he may decide not to sign a message and then disappear until the stated date. Before taking action, a DT member will always "observe, investigate, and gather evidence." before taking action.

Welcome back Mate, glad that you are alive and kicking and managed to bravely fight through whatever challenge it was.

it's not a must, but it's a precautionary measure by some members, especially those who feel like they have built a reputation in the forum and have been carrying out some trades or deals.

You don't want people to start getting suspicious or even start doubting if you are the real owner of the account.

Should the account suddenly come online before the supposed time stipulated, and doesn’t sign a message before posting on multiple threads. Do DT members flag the account? Thanks
Yes, if there is more than enough evidence showing that the account has changed hands. It's mostly noticeable with posting style or behavior around the forum. Of course, before getting tagged or flagged. The person would be asked to prove that he's the owner of the account.

It's definitely not customary, but it was smart of OP to do it and it'd be nice if more members who are going to take a planned break from the forum would create threads like this and sign messages when they come back.  Lauda and Vod both announced they were leaving, so that left no doubt as to why they aren't here, but I still wonder about members like TMAN and several others.  This might not be the closest-knit of internet forums, but if you're a regular here and suddenly you're gone, there are people who are going to wonder where you went.

Welcome back, OP.  I also hope you got everything squared away in life that you needed to--I won't go any further than that and pry, as I know this is a crazy time for all of us.

I'll get to that eventually, I have a large backlog of work to clear first.

Actually the date was merely a maximal estimation and I didn't discount the possibility of arriving a few days before that.
