Title: About Scam coin in wallet
Post by: Crypto Library on April 02, 2022, 01:53:31 PM
The issue is getting increasing these days. When we exchange or swap or transaction some kind of coin it's come with free free,In the my first time I have been a victim of it many times, at first I was surprised and very happy to see it, then when I went to swap or exchange the tokens  I see only my fee is being cut but there is no exchange or it is not going to be done .
Now my question is What is the source of a scam wallet ?  And is there any way to get rid of it? Because many newcomers are suffering from it, we have not reached the stage where newcomers will get rid of it.

Can you give some specific example of what kind of scam you faced? Because as far as I know no real exchange gives you extra coin while conversion but there are legitimate coins were given to users from the exchanges as airdrop and it had real value too at one time. Nowadays airdrops become very rare so don't waste your time by doing all these stuffs and exhausting your valuable time and money.

You can see the token address on the blockchain explorer(etherscan, etc) usually there will be a tag if the address is being used for a scam. And you didn't clearly specify what type of scam you encounter, so it will be hard to tell what to do. But generally, don't play around with shittoken if you didn't know what are you doing.

Another thing is, to try to bookmark the legit site of any services you used. And its better if you are trying to comprehend of how all the things that related to cryptocurrenices work before just jumping around seeking get rich quick motive.

I guess that if you are getting a free tokens that worth some bucks and you wanna try to exchange it, right? You were not able to convert or swap your token to the another native token as that's a trap or in this case that token related to the dusting attack. You can try to check it before try to exchange it. I guess that problem was not in your wallet but in the token itself.
There are so many scam tokens exist in the market right now. It can be said that all of these tokens were made by scammers to be sent randomly to others. -

The only method that must be used to avoid it if you must also stay away from the shit scam token. Even if you are seeing it as a legit token as well.

But the main purpose of the question was whether there was a way to stop it. No one can stop it from coming to the cryptocurrency wallet, which I understand .

It is called Dusting Attack (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dusting_attack). If your wallet/address gets an unwanted token, you shouldn't do anything but ignore it, and never interact with any token that doesn't come with your knowledge, as example, if you are swapping ETH/USDT, and later there is an unwanted token comes to your wallet, ignore it!

That kind of attack can't technically hack your wallet, so your fund shouldn't be moved unwarranted. Unless you are trying to interact with those unwanted tokens. Like, you are trying to swap the unwanted tokens, then it likely all of your wallet might be compromised, especially if you are interacting it at not legitimate site or phising site.

And yes, you are correct. Nobody can stop the dusting attack. Ideally, the only thing you need is to ignore it.

Moves to the wallet despite not wanting. No one can stop it from coming to the cryptocurrency wallet, which I understand
To be clear, before your wallet got hacked, what are you trying to do with your wallet or those unwanted tokens?

As you know, there are a lot of scam crypto currency. Scam cryptocurrencies hurt everyone cause distrust of all cryptocurrencies with  never see the products, services and apps promised to user by scam coin developers. Look out the website, check whether it is real or not. One of the most important things while choosing the coin is to see its value and market capitalization before for adding money to your account.

What do you mean OP is falling into a scam of getting thousands of USD worth of strange tokens. This is a form of scam that is becoming very popular in recent times. Upon receiving a thousand dollars worth of exotic tokens and to be able to swap them, we can go to its official website and connect to our wallet. When we accept the connection we are giving our wallet access to the scammer. They have full right to steal the assets in our wallet.

The only way to stay away from them is don't visit unknown websites, don't connect wallets to swap with strange tokens. Use a reputable DEX exchange to swap.
Every time you connect your wallet to unknown websites, use the tool below to revoke wallet permissions after each transaction.

Avoid joining too much in Airdrops or registering your wallets in unnecessary websites its no longer profitable now, before Airdrops were legit and have values but now it will only make our wallet messy since some coins are not listed in our preferred exchanges while other altcoins that provide Airdrops already lose their value. I regretted those time I hold my Airdrop coins since they have no values now. Join only in legit projects that already proves that despite the market volatility they were able to recover in time.

The purpose of the dust attack is aimed at identifying the identity of the wallet owner, and it always represents a very small amount in the crypto. In contrast, the price of fraudulent tokens has a high value, but they cannot be sold, and such an attempt to interact with the contract entails the loss of the contents of the wallet.

Not only you experiencing this problem, maybe everyone in the crypto space has experienced it too, the only thing we can do to avoid bad things for our wallets is to not try to interact with free tokens (which are not clearly sourced) who arrived.

To avoid it, I don't think it will be possible, because they (the perpetrators of this crime) will commit their crimes through tracking wallet addresses in explorer.

The first time I experienced it was when I finished a transaction on DEX, suddenly new coins appeared in my wallet with high prices and complete coin information. luckily I searching for information first before trying to do an exchange or swap.

They trace the source from our wallet transactions, I don't think there's a way to get rid of it. Unless there is an update from the smart chain developer to filter out scam coins.

Unfortunately, there is no way to stop this (at least I haven't heard of any being invented so far). The only way is to simply ignore these "free" gifts in your wallet. Change your wallet from time to time to keep things tidy. Alternatively, you can just ask here on Bitcointalk or google for this token and you will find out if it is legit or just another scam.

They can send any fake tokens as much as they one and no one can stop that, just don’t make any transactions with those token because its a scam and if you do, your wallet might compromise. If you want to save yourself from stress, just skip those fake tokens and hide it, you can’t do anything about it aside from changing your wallet and transfer your legit token there which can cost you some fees.

unfortunately, you can't get away with it. these scammers will airdrop their tokens randomly, let's say for example all eth addresses. you should not touch this token for any tx. just let it sit and ignore. you can also check it via etherscan, and you will see the contract address and website of the project by following the trail. you can easily spot scam tokens. if you don't want to see those crap tokens. just create a new wallet. you can't remove them unless you transfer it, which is not practical as you will incur gas fee just to remove it from your wallet.

The increasing rate of scam tokens is alarming and makes me uncomfortable. Recently, about 4 scam tokens were added to one of my wallets totaling the number of fake tokens in the wallet to be 9. The fake tokens are listed below:

1.   LinkP.io (LinkP.io)
2.   Zepe.io (Zepe.io)
3.   0ceanCoin.io
4.   usdswap.io
5.   swap8.io
6.   0Fees.online
7.   AZSwap.io
8.   888Crypto.io
9.   Gambling-Crypto.games

One peculiar characteristic of these fake tokens is that they include their website as coin/token name. For example, in no.1 above, the token name is LinkP.io and the website is LinkP.io. This is a way of luring unsuspecting victims to use their Dex platform to swap. Attempting to use their website could lead to loss of your coins. Since most of the fake tokens use the token name as their Dex website, it is easy, at a glance, to spot or suspect a fake token. There are still fake tokens that have normal token names - not including their website.
A website that can help to detect fake tokens is https://scamsniper.net/. While ignoring the token is the best option for now, but they are occupying space in the wallet. This is really an issue that is gradually rearing up its head.

There will always be the existence of the scams, whether it will be a wallet or a person in your definition.

Because many newcomers are suffering from it, we have not reached the stage where newcomers will get rid of it.
It is true that many are suffering from that and we have to avoid it and as well as educate the others so that they won't be a victim of it. But embracing the reality, there's no way of getting rid of it but just being educated to avoid them.

Scam tokens have been existed and it become prevalent in the 2017 timeframe wherein there has been a lot of rug pulls and projects exiting with investors money.

Of course you can't exchange or swap it to anything as obviously no one will accept any scam coins because it has no worth at all.

To stop scam? no it's hard to detect it in the beginning, but if you study and look at it and be more careful next time, maybe you wouldn't invest on them.

If you notice that you have been subjected to a dusty attack, then you need to freeze the amount received so that the coins received to your account could not mark other assets stored in the wallet. How to do it correctly, fillippone told in detail in his message: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5175238.msg55370541#msg55370541

In case you have received scam coins, you don't need to do anything, just ignore them.

I only know that it happens when you add the contract address to your wallet list. But if not, there should be no way you should have it.
Another way it will end up in your account is when you join airdrops or perhaps your public address was used by someone else. But who does that unless there is another purpose for doing it? If one user wants to have the airdrop then he should be using his own public address.
After transaction, swap, or deposit? Perhaps you could provide something that would back up that claim because this is something new. Or perhaps someone is messing with you or you didn't know you joined an airdrop then it went in at the same time you made the transaction.

probably its because of using swap sites wherein reason sometimes you received unknown token in your wallet.  And for me i think no need to worry about it as long as you know you didn't share you private information and you are using a trusted wallet with high ratings.
So just ignore it and make sure to don't use any new platform out there that offering low fees especially if it don't have yet a feedbacks because its quite skeptical. Always be aware to prevent hacking.

It stems from our negligence when entering wallet access via a signature on the website, for example scam dapps, besides that our wallet could be obtained from a scam airdrop bot or scam airdrop form, They will send us a dusting token that can't be stopped and there is no solution to get rid of it because transacting with the token is the same as giving access to your fraudulent wallet.
my advice is just change a new wallet and move your valuable assets.

They are free tokens/coins, actually. You've got to be happy of receiving them but the problem is that you can't sell or swap them, they are not yet listed for exchanges. But I'm wondering why you have sent to an exchange? Haven't you checked it first before sending it? You'd have to do that first, it is surely there is a fee cut in your wallet as you are doing a transfer transaction.

You can check the sending address to know where comes but just the address only, you can't find the sender. And to think about stopping them? Apparently, that was a big problem because we can't do it.

...my advice is just change a new wallet and move your valuable assets.

It is useless to do this, as it does not solve the problem. Within a short time, your address will be available again for sending scam tokens, and accordingly, you will once again have to start a new wallet and move your valuable tokens to it. This is an endless process, the only solution at the moment is to simply ignore such tokens.

I also see this scam token in my all kinds of wallet and firstly i was also surprised about those tokens. But gradually i discovered those tokens are scam and they come to our wallet automatically. normally there will be dot(.) symbol in name of that tokens and you can guess that are scam tokens. Scammers are sending out free tokens to any Ethereum wallet address that they can find online or anywhere, don't try to claim what's not yours in crypto space the end result will be very bad.

Most people who get scammed are tricked into it because of they simply allow greed to get to them. You're alright until you decide to cash out on what you feel it's a giveaway, not knowing it's a trap. My rule of thumb towards such scenario is if I didn't buy a token I shouldn't expect to get it. So, wherever I sight them in my crypto wallet I just act like they don't even exist there. The disturbing thing for me is that I'm not able to remove/delete them or even block any source that sends those scam tokens. It's annoying to find them in one's wallet, honestly.

Not only bad in the end but also getting nothing because tokens that are sent for free usually have no value in the market and many even have no market at all, because the purpose of the Scammer is to want to trap everyone in that very old-fashioned way. in every moment.
So it's better to ignore it than think about it.

Indeed, this is troubling for us, especially for beginners, not a few of them end up experiencing losses. Maybe for those of us who already know what to do when we get scam coins, it's not too much of a problem, we just have to ignore it. But for beginners it will be confusing itself, I think here our task is needed to provide education to beginners about this scam coin.

The problem is more common in those who do a lot of bounty and airdrop. Moreover this problem occurs during the transaction. One way to reduce this is to avoid joining other than authentic bounty or airdrop. Even then this dustattack will come , but we just have to be aware .You must refrain from swapping or exchanging this type of tokens

things like that often happen to some new tokens that will enter the market, moreover this token is getting very high hype, so many will take advantage of this situation to create fake tokens with different smart contracts, therefore it is highly recommended for beginners to find out Furthermore. accurate information before buying tokens because if we are wrong on the token smart contract then the tokens will not be able to be exchanged again and such tokens seem very difficult to get rid of my advice just ignore it if you get such tokens.

Now my question is What is the source of a scam wallet ?  And is there any way to get rid of it? Because many newcomers are suffering from it, we have not reached the stage where newcomers will get rid of it.

Probably the scammers hope that you will mistake their coin for some other one from your wallet. My guess is that the price on DEX is fake created through tokenomics manipulation. Then the liquidity is also fake and only the fee is charged from your wallet, which goes to wallet of scam token creator.
The only way to not get fooled is to simply check your wallet carefully and ignore any tokens you don't know.

Most probably on BSC network and Polygon which the fees are more cheaper, its ok to join bounties just know what’s worth the risk and don’t just mind those tokens since they can’t do anything on your wallet not unless you tried to exchange those scam tokens, don’t ever do this. I don’t know but scammers are growing as well, they became more innovative so we should always take care and don’t make any transactions on a unfamiliar tokens.

the only thing that you can do about it is just to ignore it honestly, there is no point wasting your time over scam coin like this, getting rid of these scam coin will just opens up the chance of your wallet getting compromised.
instead if you ignore it, big fat chance you’re gonna be fine and your wallet will not gonna be compromised by these scammers.
if you are annoyed, there are some wallets that could give features like only allowing specific altcoin appearing in your wallet and ignore the others I guess like MEW

Don't care about the random token that sent to your wallet.

You gave too little detail to be sure how you were actually cheated (if you were cheated at all, and it wasn't just your mistake).
In any case, it's not your wallet that is the problem, it's just that someone probably prompted you to trade (possibly sell) the token you got for free.
If you want to avoid this type of situation, just keep your wallet in order and if something looks too good and, above all, is for free, you can almost be sure that it is a scam.
The best protection is your own vigilance.

beginners will usually be very happy to receive strange coins that enter their wallets without knowing who sent the coins.
actually it is a scam coin that is sent to find victims who they will hack the victim's wallet to retrieve the valuable coins that are held by the wallet owner.
Be careful for those of you who receive the scam coins, don't make sales in the market carelessly because by agreeing to the transaction you have linked your wallet with the scam coin so hackers can easily hijack your wallet.
why can a wallet accept scam coins? it's possible that the wallet owner often participates in airdrop events which when we participate in the event include our wallet address. well this is where the person gets the wallet address of the victim.
maybe the airdrop they created is just a scam that aims to collect the wallet addresses of the victims.
These scam coins cannot be removed, but you can hide them from your wallet.
the important thing is that you don't swap or sell the scam coins so your wallet will remain safe.

These types of tokens usually happen when swapping takes place on pancakeswap over the bsc network. Whenever I trade on pancakeswap, they send at least 1 - 2 such scam tokens directly to my wallet. Such tokens are already known by their names. Also, enter the contract addresses of these tokens and check the comment section. Users write that they are direct scams as comments. I recommend that you do not trade for these tokens because your wallets have been stolen. Let them stay as they are. Or if you're uncomfortable, send those tokens directly to an empty wallet.

Well what i fell recieving fake coin in your wallet is not consider as scam but when you try to sell your that fake coin then they ask you to connect wallet through their platform{type of phishing attack} which is Actually a scam you are connecting you wallet with fund to an unknown site to sell your coin it is also main part of the scam , So if you are recieve any fake coin just hold it, and remove it from your Dashboard
Their are certainly some way to find fake token it should end with { .io  .Com or any other like .xyx} i already adviced many people don't connect your main wallet to any unknown site or if you still wanted to connect just create a new account it hardly take 1 minute

If you Use Android phone so I will recommend to use Safepal soft Wallet. One of biggest feature of Safepal wallet is that it will not show Fake and scam coins and no need to add manually true coin,it will add automatically. You can also check the contract address and copy which is available just above your recieving address.
Most of these scam and fake coins name is similar to big coins like Ape.

The safepal wallet feature is great because it doesn't show scam tokens but some other tokens also don't add to the balance before being added manually. I also have a safepal wallet to attend WHO events due to many potential projects listed, but safepal wallet doesn't have full control aka non-custodial because we can't have private keys of every wallet other than mnemonic-phrases.

Such coins coming from metamansk and trust wallet often annoy people tremendously. Even financially and mentally. First came a coin called Minerium in my metamask wallet. I have been working in this field for the last three years. When the minarium came into my account, knowing its value, I saw a very high value. Then I did research on it in about one to two days. My gas fee was also cut and because of this I was also mentally disturbed. To date, I have five to six Metamansk accounts .And how many such tokens have been dropped in each. I don't pay attention to it anymore. So if any such person who you have, who you have not bought, also comes in your account, always take the advice of others, ask about it in a group, ask an expert, check its contract address and proceed in it.

the important thing is that you don't swap or sell the scam coins so your wallet will remain safe.

If you try to sell such a coin using a proven DEX such as Pancakeswap or Uniswap, that you will not lose your coins stored on the wallet. The loss of coins occurs at the moment when, after you were unable to sell this coin on DEX, you go to the fraudulent website that is listed for this coin and try to sell it there, mistakenly signing a permission to withdraw funds from your wallet.

...The disturbing thing for me is that I'm not able to remove/delete them or even block any source that sends those scam tokens. It's annoying to find them in one's wallet, honestly.

Apparently Etherscan has heard our requests and starting from April 9 offers its users the opportunity to "Hide transactions involving tokens with Poor Reputation from the Address page" https://twitter.com/etherscan/status/1512785670418628609?s=21 "For those tired of the spam or spoof tokens cluttering up your address page on Etherscan, simply head to your Token Ignore List and choose to hide them".

Actually it baffles me two, I will be wondering how manage those coins get into my wallets and they have no use, beside if you attempt swapping them the scammers might end up having some details  and you will lose some of ur BNB for network fee you have in your wallet. Must times I thought they gets some of these wallets from some work spreadsheets, just to send scam coins to flood our wallets.

Try avoid dust attacks, some scammers use this method for stealing your ERC20 tokens with sending dust scam tokens to active ETH addresses. Instead of paying high token transaction sending fee, ignore that token. One of worst example for such case can be Kick token, 888,888 tokens sent to active ETH address just to promote the useless exchange.

Receiving dust tokens is not necessarily an attack. What you are talking about is just airdrop, which is sending just dust for advertising purposes (but maybe it's a scam, I don't know this token or exchange). If someone sends us free tokens, it may be just a marketing campaign, but it can also be a scam. The easiest way is to just ignore these types of tokens, but we can also do research and check whether the project that sent them to us is legit or not. We should definitely not make any transactions if we are not sure that it is a real legit coin or token.

Every Wallet is indeed very many scam coins that enter, and we are often trapped because of the many projects that we have participated in so that we are hesitant about the incoming coins, but the thing we have to do to make sure the coins are scam we can enter the address of the coin in the blockchain explorer and there will be seen that the coin is a scam or not, then in this case we must be careful with the scam coins because it can drain our assets.

my question is where do you get the altcoins in your wallet?? because at this time a lot of phishing altcoins are sent to our wallet address. and we think that it is a "Real" altcoin that we accept, but in reality it is just a scam altcoin. so my advice is to ignore all altcoins that enter your wallet, except the altcoins you buy and the altcoins you receive from various other means such as bounty campaigns and airdrops.

Yes, when we find any coins that suddenly enter our wallets, it's better to just ignore them,
most likely it is a scam coin and no need to panic,
I think almost everyone has experienced it so there's no need to worry

We have to check the smart contract before making any transaction on the coin, after checking that the coin is not allowed to transfer but the fee is still deducted higher, besides that there is fake liquidity in pancake swap to cheat the holder of randomly transferred tokens. So the coin scam is left without any transactions to maintain the security of the wallet so there is no chance of being hacked.

Many people don't know if scam coins have been sent to all addresses and for beginners it is very rare to check on a smart contract, but you are right that there is no need to pay attention to the scam coin rate on dextool or poocoin because of fake liquidity, because maybe the code on the smart contract is still locked for transfer and sending coins, so it doesn't get drained of the liquidity that has been added to pancakswap.

Checking out your;

1. Erc20 based wallet
2. Bsc based wallet

If you do make out some in depth search about internal tx's inside your wallet then you would see tons of coins which you dont
know on where it originated or came from but its better to ignore because those are just shitty coins.
Dont tend to make out some involvement on selling it.

We can do nothing about this, excluding handling it smartly. If we make any dumb decisions on it, we might lose our funds. That is why, when we receive coins or tokens in our wallet, we should first verify them before performing any action on a decentralized exchange, such as swapping or anything else; otherwise, we should do nothing. If we receive any token with the same name, first we should verify the contract address with the official documents or official handle. Because sometimes we see the same token with the same name as a popular coin, which might be a fake, but we should match the exact contract address with the official address. And we should add our token on the decentralised exchange with the contract address, not by searching for the name. I hope you understand. Thank you.
