Title: Why is satoshi the 3rd user registered on the forum instead of 1st?
Post by: oudomopo on April 06, 2022, 04:01:44 AM
I was looking through satoshi's profile and saw that he was the 3rd user registered on the forum. The 1st user on the forum was a user called "admin" I tried looking through this user's post and it says that there were no matches found. The user was registered 2 days before satoshi was registered. This user had the rank called "Newbie" (which I currently have.) This user had been active at least 7 times and he was active for 5 days until he went offline. Is the user "admin" one of satoshi's accounts?

What will really blow your mind is that satoshi himself never posted on bitcointalk at all.  It was hosted on a different domain back then and it wasn't until satoshi's "disappearance" that bitcointalk came to be.  As for your question, satoshi wasn't the admin of the old forum and joined after it was up and running.  If you use the search feature you'll get a lot more detailed knowledge about exactly who started the forum and the timing involved.  In the meta section this has been discussed quite a bit over the years so you should be able to find a few detailed topics fairly easily if you search there.

I think that user admin is created automatically when this forum software is installed on a server. Probably the creator of this forum never used that account to post anything. Most likely he immediately created his own account.

Honestly, I'm here for almost five years and even I didn't know that. Now I feel a little embarrassed that I didn't know that. I always thought that Bitcointalk was created around the same time Bitcoin was created so that creators had a place to discuss.

There were discussions about this before I think it was with Roger Ver. Couldn't remember the entire issue but it was just the domain that was changed because the database was imported to bitcointalk which base on it, the posts of Satoshi was restored. I may have read it differently but today it doesn't matter anymore after all Satoshi is not coming back.

But every time this issue floats up again in the forum, a massive bullrun comes after.

And even if the other things weren't true (Admin being created automatically and the conversations being transferred from an older forum; and they are true), you could also look at it that a person who created the forum wanted to have himself as a regular user and an admin. I wouldn't say that would be something out of the ordinary nor it would be malicious, admins still want to communicate without the stigma their position brings.

Martti Malmi, "Sirius", was the person who created the forum. He was probably creating a general account for Satoshi or him and Satoshi to use, but then they abandoned the idea for personal accounts.

Satoshi was not the one who created the forum. Maybe the creator of the bitcointalk forum might be the admin you saw. It seems the admin created the forum and then pitched the idea of the forum to Satoshi before he joined into the forum after seeing that a lot of benefits will come out from it as users who want to know about the bitcoin market signs up here.
