Title: marwell continually posting links to fake wallets.
Post by: DaveF on April 13, 2022, 03:18:22 PM
Created a flag, need some support for it.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=2942
The user marwell is continually posting links to fake wallets.

Here: https://loyce.club/archive/posts/5985/59850651.html
That wallet WAS going to another site before they shut down: https://cryptocreed.com/rahakott-wallet-review-what-happened-to-rahakott-wallet/
Brief discussion about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/iwbrd3/rahakott_wallet_bitcoin_lost/

There are 2 other users that are not in my trust list who have left them negative feedback but they link to posts in Russian.

~

I have supported this flag.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=2942

I believe this is an alternative account of MikelCoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3415880). They both promoted the shady exchange fast-change(.)net.

Quote from: MikelCoin
Instant cryptocurrency exchange service. The volume of exchange is not limited. Exchanges up to 0.1 Btc are not verified by KYC. https:// fast-change(.)net
https://ninjastic.space/post/58566717

Fast-change(.)net is a reliable online exchange service in automatic mode, with a favorable rate and fast exchange. Based on DeFi.
~

As MikelCoin has already been removed from the forum, this is also likely a case of ban evasion.

Supported the flag, also added one more negative feedback to the list.
Thanks Stalker22 for the direct link to the flag ;)

The flag is supported.

There are 2 other users that are not in my trust list who have left them negative feedback but they link to posts in Russian.
I speak Russian and I can say that their feedback is justified.

I hope especially the community in this forum can see this topic, the risk of using the Rahakott.net wallet, which is clearly a fraudulent wallet, it is very likely that crypto can be lost without a trace.

I suggest to the crypto community here, never access any web posted by: @marwell, most of your crypto fake sites can be lost, careful.

@DaveF, support provided + Warning.

(I first read "gmaxwell continually posting links to fake wallets", I was afraid :))

For links to fake wallets/sites, it's more a problem for mods. If it's systematic, he deserves a ban. Did you report these posts ?

I did report the English one. And replied with the big RED warning for others to see.
I did not tag the Russian ones yet. Wanted conformation 1st.

I thought that someone who posts link to fake wallet gets insta ban and that he doesn't get the 2nd or 3rd chance, like those that share fake miners usually get banned instantly. And if they are not getting banned, they should.

Flag supported.

Once I understood what the problem was, I also decided to support flags. So far 11 users from DT and non-DT have supported the flag, this is a good response in this case.

I might agree on that given that users do it over and over again [even if it was previously considered a scam attempt], but that's already unsettling.

Bro, I guess we were in the same boat  ;D

Not really... AFAIK, the bans are mostly for users who try to spread malware through fake miner or wallet software. In this case, the fake link is a phishing site of a web wallet. I have reported a few scam accusations involving fake or phishing sites, but I haven't seen the culprits get banned.

I did further research and it's very likely marwell post link to fake wallet, flag supported. Here are some link that could be useful for those who want to double-check,

His "fast-change.net" exchange is probably fake, too. As I mentioned before (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5386712.msg59328431#msg59328431), I've never heard of a legit exchange built on WordPress CMS.

Well there was one, AllCrypt, but it got hacked about 7 years ago, so well before your time here:

The post that they made that made me make this post has been removed, their other ones (in the Russian section) are still up.

Only legitimate website for rahakott wallet was rahakott.io, and since then many alternative domains appeared as a scam (.ch .net...).
Flag supported as well for member marwell, but I was wondering if moderators could prevent him to create any new topics, maybe with some temporary ban if he continues with this behavior.
From history of his posts I can see that he was also posting some airdrops that are probably fake.

And he's promoting another exchange that is very likely to be fake; Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinzh launches in Europe (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5410930.0)

Look at the coin prices, seems like a trap given that BTC is 16K at the moment

The thread is full of shill accounts, and it's getting pathetic. Is it possible for the mods to nuke all the shill accounts, or my reporting will be a waste of time?

If they're linking fake wallets/sites they deserve bans. They shouldn't use bitcointalk to spread viruses inside fake wallets. They're stealing by stealth in a recession, that's putting hardship on people depending on their cryptocurrencies in painful times.
