Title: ETH paper wallet code
Post by: rupxisshit on April 16, 2022, 08:15:27 PM
I want to create a offline paper wallet and I saw some guides on YouTube that guide you to myetherwallet.com to download the code locally (like : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv8OGNGVOhY). The problem is that those videos is very old, and the website change (I can't find this option..). Does anyone know a legitimate source code for the wallet generator ? I WANT THE ORIGINAL ONE ! because if not, someone can easily add a line pf code to create the same X address (and he has a copy or something)-This scares me the most! Why no official offline paper wallet on the website ? (mytherwallet.com or the actual "official" website). Thank in advance.

First download this wallet. https://mycrypto.com/

Run the mycrypto desktop wallet locally and offline.

You must choose to create the new address use it and follow all of steps that already appeared and you will be seeing a download button to download your paper wallet for your new ethereum wallet. This is the easiest and pretty simple wallet for you. this wallet is actually safe.

Not particularly well-versed in creating a paper wallet in bitcoin, let alone for altcoins, but you can check this thread.
- [Guide] Create an Offline Wallet For Bitcoin and Altcoin Only Use 1 Paper (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5190202.0)

On a side note, isn't it preferable to use a hardware wallet rather than a paper wallet that's conventional and difficult to use? Or if you don't have the budget, you can just use a custodial wallet.

Same thoughts here. There is literally no to zero craze about the paper wallet unless and until you are too old guy who loves to read stuff on paper and consider it as valid proof. Anyways whenever you have to use it, you will need to access the Internet and you can not just send the paper wallet if you want to pay. I mean, at the time of creation you will have your private keys generated and printed so it would not be viable to send it to others as trust issue would always be nearby.

In addition to this, you can always loose your paper wallet way way easily. So better keep it online, make copies, and have safe cryptoying!

Keeping a piece of sensitive information online would open up many attack vectors. Some aren't using paper wallets by definition, instead, they just want to make a backup of the private key/seed phrase offline and written on paper. It is rather one of a few recommended ways to make backup stored offline if you doing it properly. And It is also could be beneficial for cold storage.

It's possible to create paper wallet for any altcoins that operated in the blockchain that compliance with ethereum blockchain. As long as the format of blockchain used the same address like ethereum and it's possible. Those top coins are using another blockchain that are not compatible with ethereum blockchain and you can't use it. But you can use it for BNB, Polygon, Avalanche, fantom and any other blockchain that being ethereum compliance
