Elon Musk Purchases Twitter for $44 Billion.
Now Social Media Company Will Transition to a Private Company!

On Monday, Twitter announced that Elon Musk has officially acquired the social media platform for $54.20 per share in a transaction valued at $44 billion. After the transaction completes, Twitter will transition to a private company.

Tesla’s Elon Musk officially acquired Twitter on April 25, 2022, in a transaction valued at $44 billion. The deal came 21 days after Musk took a 9.2% stake in Twitter Inc. on April 4. The $54.20 per share price will give shareholders a 38% premium to Twitter’s closing stock price on the first of April. That was the last trading day Twitter had prior to Musk’s offer to purchase the social media firm.

“The Twitter Board conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon’s proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing,” Bret Taylor, Twitter’s independent board chair explained during the acquisition announcement. “The proposed transaction will deliver a substantial cash premium, and we believe it is the best path forward for Twitter’s stockholders.”

Elon Musk also made a statement during the acquisition announcement on Monday and he highlighted how free speech is needed in society. “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk explained.

good for him, but I am curious what does this have to do with bitcoin/cryptocurrency or bitcointalk? though Elon musk has bought bitcoin in the past and expressed his opinion toward cryptocurrency. but him, buying twitter has nothing to do with bitcointalk or bitcoin/cryptocurrency.

I don't have a specific opinion regarding Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter, Maybe right now Elon is happy because he has a social media platform where he is free to talk.
And the effect of this news on the increase in the price of Dogecoin I really don't understand the connection. Maybe Elon is planning something like allowing twitter users to tip each other in the form of Dogecoin in the future

Absolutely agree. If Elon Musk will make Twitter a "free speech" platform I'll be happy. I want to see a strong decentralized social network with its own economic system and without censorship. Maybe with time, Twitter can give us this opportunity. Or it's just a game and manipulations with the market or desire to show that there is one more space he can control. But we need a "free speech" platform asap.

We had some platforms such as Steemit but they did not become popular and now they are places for spam. Now I follow Solcial on Solana and hope that guys will really build a strong web3 decentralized social platform that we need. Maybe I'll see their collaboration with Twitter but it will be better if it will be completely decentralized.

And I'll say what is a scam and who is a real president and who must leave us alone and not share crazy ideas about how to change our world and society.

it's gonna be an interesting era for Twitter I don't expect drastic changes immediately but I think they will slowly try to make it more a profitable platform that's for sure

I think it's great that Elon Musk bought Twitter for an important reason. Firstly, the fact that we have freedom of speech as a right is absolutely amazing but in practice we’re not being delivered on that promise. Social media has now become so ingrained in our lives that we depend on it for our expressing our ideas and in principle our thinking. Taking Twitter private is the best way to ensure that our freedoms last into the new digital age.

Of course, Elon Musk is doing his own business. But, the Crypto community will have more facilities on Twitter, and it's good news for the crypto community. Did you notice the recent Doge price spike while Elon was buying Twitter?

I think it’s great news.

I’ve had enough of not being able to speak freely on twitter. Musk is advocating free speech so no more fact checking nonsense that deletes your posts. If I want to tweet ‘corona virus is a scam’ then I should be able to.

I hope he lives up to his promise. I'm a free speech absolutist. Even if something theoretically shouldn't be said, no man made authority is trustworthy enough to enforce censorship.

I use twitter daily, I don't expect any big changes to the platform but in time we'll see how it evolves.
