why merit is so influential?

what is its use, try to explain to me who doesn't know this

The intended use of merit was to combat spammers... it makes sure a newbie can only rank up when he/she makes meaningfull posts that are merited by others. Without merit, the user stays a newbie forever.
And a newbie has severe limits when it comes to signature space, frequency of posting, frequency of pm'ing, warning labels on their PM... So, it is less attractive to spam (or scam) with a newbie account...

Merit is doing it's job just fine... It's not perfect, but i was here in a pre-merit time, and it is obvious to me that the amount of spam decreased significantly (except for those bounty hunter subforums... they don't care about the newbie restrictions and are perfectly fine never ranking up)

4 posts, and registration a month ago. OP, why do you care so much about merit information? Tell us why you came to the forum? How did you know about him? If your friend told you about the forum, then surely he knows about the merits?
The best thing you can do right now is to understand that you have come to a forum where you can get knowledge about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. By studying it, you have the opportunity to acquire knowledge that will definitely be able to change your world. Do not rush for ranks, rush to learn and find out more information, and at the same time, you will learn about the privileges that the forum gives to people in order to get some earnings in cryptocurrency.

So many account farming happened before and this merit system is the counter measure to avoid such things here in this for because they are not contributing anything but also they add toxicity in this forum. Now merit system has been introduced we can now see how this forum became more better place for all crypto users and this one force everyone to write quality contents and make this forum a good source of quality information what newbie people needs.

It is perfectly normal for a new member to be curious about things like merit and rank, especially if they had no one guiding then when they discovered the forum. It's what majority talk about on here.

OP, as has been explained, merits is one metric used to rank up, i.e move from newbie to legendary. It ensures that one contributes positively in order to rank up and is a community based system, so is shared anojnf members by members.
If you post something I find quality, I can reward you with my smerits, and every 2 merits you get, you have one smerit to share, so the community is constantly supporting itself.

Certainly got some of the influential crowd to chime in  :D - builds trust.

The focus newbie should actually be on having the knowledge about Bitcoin and how to construct qualitative threads  and comments that inform and broading other users mind about a subject or so.

Focusing on merit would actually do you no real good, but if you must know merit has been one thing that drives the moral of every newbie especially, so if you wanna rank up focus on good posting rather than just the merit.

I think every new member in this forum have this very quetion in mind to ask. well the thing about merit is that, it's like a rank that shows your level of intelligence in the forum I.e ( if you engage in spamming or not) then also merit is also used in making funds when you work on signature campaigns. There are alot about merit. make more research yourself.

To Rank up your forum account merut is essential.Because when you will have some merits and activity you will be promoted to a higher rank. And to earn merit you have to contribute in forum by helping others and spreading knowledge.

Thats totally fine asking dude. Like upgrade00, said. Not all are aware of it when they joined. Maybe his friend that recommended to him doesnt introduced about merits and stuff but tell him to register and learn here where you can earn money. At least his asking now, about some details like this.

Newbies are focusing on getting ranked up through merits and this can be misleading, the only way to rank up on this forum is to forget getting ranked up, this will bring out the best in you and that ranking up that looks impossible will come as if it's nothing, focus on what you enjoy doing the most, engage in good conversation and bring ideas, talk about solutions to problems.

There are certain implications for merit and why it's essential for the forum and your personal growth like as follows:

1) You need merit to rank up on the forum like your rank is newbie and to reach one step high on junior rank you will need to have atleast one merit and 30 activity.So you see activity will be gained if you are active and write post as in the past but now gaining merit is new string with it and it will be attained on only good posts.

2) To counter the spam on the forum @theymos introduced this system and many who were not dedicated enough to learn about bitcoin and crypto market in general left the forum while some other are still writing up the same shit posts.But many have given their efforts and have ranked up with time.

3) Most of the signature campaign here on the forum have merit requirements in past 120 days like minimum of 5 earned merits or more so you see most of those who joined the forum with this perspective of earning cares a lot about it.

But to tell frankly to you if you are having knowledge or ability to learn here on the forum then merit is secondary part and you will see growth in your rank yourself with time and Knowledge.

I see merit as something that automatically regulate the forum, it's also a way to appreciate someone and it also gives this sense of fulfillment if you are rewarded with it. As humans, we get excited anytime we are rewarded for an act we take, our dopamine level rises and we feel good, meaning, merit is healthy as well  :D.

Meanwhile, to earn it, you need to work, you need to be willing to learn and to also educate others, you need to be ready to contribute to the forum and be a problem solver. In all these, merit might not come as envisaged, but if your desire to be of good use in the forum overshadows the quest for merit, you wouldn't feel dissapointed, the fact that you are contributing well and impacting others would make you feel satisfied while merit reward will come as bonus to you. Mind you, this is not say that merit is not important!

Just like what others mentioned in here, it is going to contribute your way into ranking up. About being influential, oh boy tell me about it when it was first implemented back in 2018 and many newbies were like merit-fishing by creating a lot of merit threads in Meta section. Many users are too desperate into ranking up for obvious reasons.
You shouldn't worry about it too much. Think of it as upvoting in Reddit which gives karma points.

In this forum to rank up your account you have to earn merits. Because without merit you can't be a high ranker. And you will get merits from other users when you will contribute in this forum to earn knowledge and help others. That's why it's so much influential.

If you just a little, understand how your process at school, your question, actually it's easy if you want to know the answer to your question.

Some of the members here have already told you about your question and included a link to the forum rules regarding their achievements and uses, What I want to say to you is that achievement will determine that you are an established and intelligent member in this forum, meaning: without achievement you are not well established and intelligent.

In your school too, you do not excel means you are not great and there are no student fees from the government and your teachers.

I think aside using it to scare away spammers and scammers , another area why I think it's becoming so influential is that,

1.It shows how successful a Member has become in the forum.
2. It helps you to get ranked up as one of the criteria needed to joining any signature campaign , bounty, Twitter or any type of
Campaign In the forum.
3. And too serves as a means of rewarding hardworking members and as means of encouraging them to continue their good jobs.

Merit is as important as signing up to become a member of this forum, you can become a member of this forum but without merit, you will forever remain a newbie and be denied all other benefits of being a member of this forum except Knowledge.

Learning has never been a waste ,learning makes you aware and explore more ,onces willingness to learn equals  will lead to productive experience, be willing to be an elephant with big ears ,listen more and ask questions ,many will be glad to put you through ,even the boss you know was once a novice.

Already a lot of forum Members described you about Merit. And Now I also know about the importance of merit properly. I will try to make good posts from now.

If you are emphasising on merit system, merit is elevator of this noble institution and without earning merit you growth limit will be shambles and also remain to square one (1), so it's very obvious that you are not meant to grow in forms without that. The task of earning a merit is difficult rather is basically on the engagement of search method of cryptocurrency and innovations that will enhance on solving problems of cryptocurrencies.

Well, just contribute constructively anyway as that will help sieve spammers from genuine posters. That's basically all that is to the merit system. Anything else is an addendum like when some posters got their alt accounts exposed through merit abuse and they were proven connections to them as they strived to earn merit at all cost.

Besides how to earn merit and what it stands for, OP should equally know that merit giving is subjective and that also makes what is "constructive"  subjective. It completely depends on who is reading your posts to pass that judgment. Don't pressure yourself into trying to please anyone so as to earn merit and rank up. It doesn't work that way. Just be yourself and do your normal posts which should be aimed at helping others solve a problem or two.

You have been on the forum for almost five months and only now have you decided to make good posts? Well, better late than never. ;)
But remember, don't let merits be your only motivation. Consider that by posting here you should add something valuable to the discussion, so at least put your thoughts out there.

Write about stuff you enjoy
Take part in discussions
Ask helpful and insightful questions of others
Share what you've learned, or how your questions have been answered
Take your time! As you will notice, there is no rush to do anything.

a reward system that is given by other members base on the usefulness and contribution of ones post in the forum. this post becomes ones activity in the forum but it must add benefit and values to other members in the group through education and enlightenment. members with more than one merit which are the smerits can give this to others base on usefulness and activities. the merit and activity increases ones rank in the forum. which can be a criteria to participate in bounties and signature in campaign. this is a reward system that checkmate excesses and encourage members to contribute usefully in the forum. concentrate on adding value in others and educating oneself will attract merits.

Merits earning helps add values to every member of this forum from the newbies to every level stages and status,it gives you edge for next ranking opportunities together with your posts and activities, when value is not attached to something it becomes less regarded and efforts towards it Will not yeild as intended.
The more you post reasonable contents and contribute to topics discussion meaningful,you will definately be noticed and rewarded by wonderful kind hearted people who sees values in your post ,they will be willing to reward you with merits for your wonderful piece of write-up inline with the right topics.

With merits and good rank you stand a chance to apply for vacant paying positions ,where you will be part for contributing on any intended topics inline with the guideline and rules of the employers.
Do not inbox or scam your for merits they will come willingly when you make beautiful contents and people find your comments and contribution meaningful.
