Title: 3090 mem temp
Post by: TreyARC on April 27, 2022, 10:38:27 AM
Is 91°C temperature from a RTX 3090 a good and safe temp? I heard that the RTX 3090s are always hotter than RTX 3070Ti and I think 86°C is still very safe for the RTX 3070 ti, am I wrong or correct?.

Throttling mode starts if the temperature of the video card memory is above 100-105 degrees. 91°C is a good temperature for this graphics card. Look at the tests for your graphics card model, you may want to change the thermal pads to reduce the memory temperature to 80-85 °C

If you are afraid to open the card and add a pad you can lower the ram settings. plus hit the backplate with a fan

There is always a first time for everything, you don't have to learn how to open a graphic card and even if you are unsure just visit YouTube you will see countless videos about breaking apart a graphic card, it's not hard to reapply thermal paste and pads too, use kritical thermal pad they are very good.

In my opinion, 91ºC is good enough to RTX 3090 without any changes on thermal pad
Many people struggle to keep under 100ºC

I like and always recommend to put a fan blowing directly to backplate, at least 2ºC you can reduce and something like 89ºC is safe enough to run for the long term.
It's cheap and don't void the warranty, specially of a 3090  ;D

The idea of changing the thermal pad is excelent and will reduce temperature, but many brands will refuse warranty if you open the card

91C is perfectly fine as these cards regularly hit 100C memory temp.

Well I have more than 16 3090's some as old as 14 months they all work and range at 105 to 115 mh

temps are 90c-101c. I just use extra fans to cool.

Add a extra fan like a table fan the temp will reduce by -3°C but if you don't like it you can learn how to apply a copper mod chip yourself, use YouTube to your advantage mate its not that hard to do, though those graphic cards are build to handle high temp anyway.
