Title: Central African Republic; the first African country to adopt bitcoin as a legal
Post by: Nerdy doctor on April 27, 2022, 03:07:49 PM
Central African Republic has become the second country in the world to adopt bitcoin as a legal tender. It has also become the first African country to see and utilize the potential that bitcoin has to offer. This move enables its citizens to pay taxes as well as transact commercial activities with bitcoin. This is the slow gradual process of bitcoin adoption worldwide.

Wasn't it already possible to pay taxes in bitcoin in some countries already? I thought there were US states that had it as a thing for a while.

The main difference between legal tender and acceptible for taxes is that the courts accept the ability to transact and convert it themselves if it's requested.

This topic was published in "Economics" board from a different perspective maybe. I think we can discuss the event in the actual board. However, it's always better to avoid duplicating topics in the same board as someone has already started a topic : First African country adopts Bitcoin as official currency (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5395977.0)

My bad; I didn't know the news has been made a topic and already been posted. I had tried deleting the topic but can't.

Here is a map taken from the source :  https://www.do4africa.org/en/cryptocurrency-adoption-in-africa/ (https://www.do4africa.org/en/cryptocurrency-adoption-in-africa/) The current situation in Africa is quite varied there are no clear demarcation between countries that might refuse to accept Bitcoins or some countries that might allow bitcoins entirely but this step taken is very beneficial since this is going to allow other countries to take step in the positive direction as well since at the end of the day even if they ban bitcoins they cannot just isolate it from the people. People will continue to use it as well.
Best choice would be regulation!! Rather than banning ofcourse.
