It is just like a business, you can make profit or loss. No investment doesn't have its own risks and losses can occur at anytime. There are both bull and bear time. This time it's more for the bears and not a time that favors buying.

People are depressed after they lose, they have loses because they are not patient the market is full of the bears and dump. They can wait to the level that they will know that the price will not go further below or of gone further below, but buying at the level the bull market will be so significant for profit and later overide their losses.

Some people just deal with shitcoins, which is another reason.

I will advice you to invest in bitcoin or a good marketcap coins rather than shitcoins.

Depression is a strong term to use. Feeling bad about losses is a less severe term. If you are really feeling depressed over losses then you need to stop trading, it will not do you any good. Probably you are doing a lot of wrong things making trading a mess but this only you can know.

I'm sorry to hear that, but that's how the market works unfortunately. Let me tell you one story, a personally know a guy who quit his job in 2017 because he wanted to focus on crypto because that time we are in a bull run and there are a lot of opportunity. But later in 2018 we suddenly goes on a bear market. What I'm trying to say is that crypto market is not permanent. It can give you profits, but it won't last, you need to prepare yourself like saving so that you won't get depressed during bear market.

That's why everyone has to sell whenever they find the price to be at its ATH. I couldn't say its greed when you keep waiting for higher price when you know a bear market waiting ahead.

You'd really be depressed when you see your profit goes more than $100K and then you waited for the price to go all the way up ignoring the price correction not realizing its in fact a bear market.

I have considered buying cryptocurrencies as gambling, except buying certain ones like bitcoin which I know ATH is possible. I do buying cryptocurrencies like I am gambling, this make me only use the money I can afford to lose to buy which will not make me to be depressed.

Depression is not about positivity but negativity. If you are making profit from anything, you can not be depressed. In crypto, those that can be depressed are those that hold and see their coin decreasing in value, this can cause some people to panic and sell their coins. Some coins are shitcoins, their value decrease and decrease more and more. If you buy and you make profit, that should not lead to depression.

Then never try to see the market again. Are you new in the crypto? if yes and you shall adapt with the crypto market. The movement of the price is really fast compared with the stock market. in the crypto market and you may face so many heart attack caused by the price can be dumped so hard and then jumped to the moon at the same time. it's better if you are starting to train your depression. If you can't adapt with the crypto market and just try that slowly.

I guess it's because they can't anticipate themselves when they see the volatile state of the crypto market, and many of them are losing trades. If they can handle their feelings and don't spend too much money anticipating losses, they won't feel depressed. The problem is if you are feeling worry if you are seeing the price of your token was going down. You shall not try see your portfolios anytime. no one know the market direction, we just face it with risk management only and trading ratio to avoid big loss. everyday our mental totally tested with several long wick that will shake our position and balance. for beginer its looked so boring while our profits turn to loss due its fluctuations.

Someone who has been here for a brief amount of time, doesn't know what slow means, something that may seem slow to them could be very fast in the crypto world or what seems very fast for them could be small for us. If you just want steady income from investment then you better off staking altcoin like USDT that are non volatile altcoin and could give you consistent profit although at the end of the day the final return of investment is also low.

It is simply the emotional attachment to your investment, because why you wouldn't be anyway. No one likes to be broke. Everyone needs money and if you risk that kind of need to something trash, it would obviously take a toll in you emotionally.
There are no such thing as not being emotional. Maybe people are calling it to be not emotionally  tied to something, but emotion is still there. I've been emotional to my investments back in 2017, but I got used to those emotions that it made me decide better.
You can't just tell someone to "stop being emotional".

but this is only for people who has spare funds and with no urgent needs for their investment. i do agree that people are impatient, but what can you do if they badly need their funds? so before you buy in this market, know your targets and capability. if you can't hold long, expect that you may sell it at a loss if you need your funds.

thats right, the key is patience and also hold yourselves from being too attached with the investment, so many newbie traders always look at the chart like every minutes and that alone already bring such pressure for our emotions.
it's always better to focus in something else like being productive instead of being too fixated in looking at the chart every minutes.

The answer is hiding in your question only. The crypto market is totally so volatile so the risk is always on the higher side. If you can gain profit then you can also make loss. And if the money loss is way higher, one would be in depression for sure.

I got depressed twice because of the crypto market.
My first depression was on March 13, 2020. Looking at it now, it was a great buying opportunity.

My second depression was with the luna crash. The altcoins I own have lost a lot of value. I lost 2/3 of my money.

A market is bunch of projects with buying and selling prices. It is way less significant than your mental health, so take care of yourself and dont get too involved in making money. Taking a break helps but if you want to trade with profit, you have to rethink how to trade and also how to use the movements for advantages to buy/sell. Otherwise, like most short stint traders, you would have to stop trading.

Since I was there when bitconnect happened, I saw a lot many people lose money through it. Though I was aware myself about it being a hype, I tried to tell others but it was in vain. Same scam but in a different form happened with this one.

Maybe you should take a break for now in crypto there, bud.  I've been there back in 2017, and it just kept hurting me mentally day by day until I just took a month away from crypto and decided that I should just find some other things to distract me, because in the end, the loss I had is still a loss in the end and there ain't anything I could do about it.

Because you always tend to think that crypto is more on easy gains than hard losses. And that's not how crypto works. Yeah its more like gambling in some ways especially when you are into alt coins, some can make you feel good and some will cause depression unexpectedly. Its the same with bitcoin too but bitcoin can be more reliable and profitable than alt coins and thats why i prefer to buy more of bitcoin than alt coins.
