A brother introduced me to the bitcointalk forum earlier last month. He had minimal experience with the platform, which he taught me and which I fully comprehended. But I'm curious; is there a location where novices can learn more about the forum and how to avoid getting in trouble with my moderators?

Newbies - Read Before Posting (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1689727.0) is a good thread which contains many useful links for newbies, including the rules and other forum tips.

Try to read the pinned threads in the different boards before posting there, it would give you an idea of how that board operates.

See the stickied threads on the Meta section (where this thread is located). That'll tell you all you need to know to avoid getting into trouble with the moderators (I've heard they aren't that bad though).

Any questions, use the search function on the forum or use:

And, then your question on Google or whatever your search engine is. For example: site:bitcointalk.org rules & guidelines. Depending how good your search engine is, it'll bring you right to that link above, as the top result.

If all that fails, don't be afraid to ask the question here in Meta, as long as it's forum related. Otherwise, find the appropriate section to ask your question.

Can we assume that your brother learned some bad experiences with the moderators?
Just wondering, did you come to the forum from the link your brother gave you? But if you look a little lower, there is a section very clearly and expressively called "Beginners & Help", it's strange that you don't see it.

This whole topic will also be convenient in that section.

Besides the rules, there's really nothing you need to know about Bitcointalk. It's just a forum where we like talking about Bitcoin/crypto; and not necessarily a moneymaking site.

Explore the forum yourself and you will find a ton of very helpful information.  There are many boards you can look into and questions are typically welcome here in most of the boards.

Oh come on.  This is not a Police Department forum.  Unless you spam or try to spread bull shit, there is no 'trouble' you may be getting into.  Otherwise, the worst that could happen is a low quality post of yours might get removed.  But at the end of the day, if you have a real interest in being part of the forum's community, there is no way you can write a low quality post.  Accommodate yourself with the rules and things will run smoothly.

You have come to the right place to ask a question and you have received an answer where to read and learn the basic rules of the forum.
The basic principle of every forum is the same, quality and argumentative discussion is expected and required, without attacking others and spam.
I suggest that you initially read the posts and discussions in which older and more experienced members of the forum participate, because you will learn a lot from that.
Later you will already have enough knowledge and experience to write about different topics yourself.
You just came to this forum so there is no reason for any rush, take your time  ;D

But can't deny that this is also a source of income. Many people had come to this forum for some business purposes, quite to see that BTT forum is getting known because of these things.

Welcome to the forum first of all and your brother had introduced you to the right place where you can have the legitimate knowledge about bitcoin and crypto if you want to have it sincerely.

You have been already told about visiting the rules and regulations thread on the forum to make you comfortable and aware about what to avoid on the forum and how to pave your way on the forum.You could check the pinned threads on each board which are introductory threads for your help so go through them once.

If you have gone through the rules and  Merit and rank requirements thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0) you would possibly have the rough and basic idea about the forum and rest will come with time and exploration.You simple treat it as discussion forum and make your post by taking part in discussion nothing else.

This could help you a little bit and rest there are tons of thread for your help but as @Welsh suggested use google search by typing your keywords on Google simply followed by bitcointalk and you will have the results on your screen.There are more tools like https://ninjastic.space/ but you might find them mixed up in starting so the above option is best for you.

What kind of problems you think moderators can cause or your brother have faced in the past specifically? Their job is to keep the forum a better place by moderating spam post and remove them if someone report it or take actions if some other issues have been raised as each board has its own moderator.So if you are abiding by the rules and making post then you don't have to worry about them at all.

This is much easier for beginners to understand despite the fact that many people prefer writing to reading. Beginners are expected to understand the forum rules from the start because they are important guidelines so as not to deal with moderators or other users especially because they are breaking the rules.

Beginners don't need to get too convoluted answers, it won't help them much because they seem very confused about what they should do in the first place. But maybe they will be more focused if the person who brought him here can provide the knowledge and explanation needed. The conclusion is that beginners should read more than write if they really want to gain knowledge.

It's weird how your brother introduce this forum and he didn't even give you a guide? Now listen, you're only need to avoid plagiarism at all cost and put the original source if took it from other user words. There's nothing you need to understand except that because you will learn other rules after you more familiar with this forum.

Welcome to Bitcoin talk, you can always start from beginners and help, also try an read the rules of the forum and avoid plagiarism. And you will learn much in no time.

Go on and you will learn what to do and what not to, just reading rules and regulations and other things won't stick to your mind unless there is direct experience.

Yeah.. Because that location you are looking for to learn all about Bitcoin and ask questions is here @ Beginners and Help section of the forum.. Here we have got everything you need to transform you from a novice to a crypto expert only if you could read more than you write, and whatever you seems not to understand you ask brother Google and he shall explain it for you, or you ask us here and we will be glad to offer you a helping hand

Just hang out here on beginners section. Put up some time reading first on different rules and thread for beginners. And also pay attention to those rules. Once you grasp the idea, then go for some response and topic discussion. From there Im sure youll have plenty of idea on how to interact here without any troubles on some rules.

You are already on the board where you can learn and gain ideas, and probably see how this forum works despite not knowing each other in real life (maybe some). To explore the forum and understand how these works certainly can't be done in just a day, it is somehow you need to spend more time in the forum to clear out some of your doubts and questions.

And lastly, I encourage you to ask anything that bothers your mind, many are willing to help and answer your questions.

Much better if you click those Pinned thread on the forum because from their you can get more information on what things you need to do in this forum. And secondly set what makes you more interested with and focus to learn because for that you can stick on plans you might set on your future investment then jump on another options then learn those once you are fully knowledgeable on the first thing you do here. You already on Beginners help and you can also read past threads made by newbies and experience users.

i will say you brother educate you concerning bitcointalk is the preamble of bitcointalk beginning. Since you are curious to learn and understand the rudiments of the community and also acquire the knowledge of cryptocurrency which is free. I think you should learn by observation and also reading the elementary base's of bitcoin by following bitcoin discussion board discussion. I believe everyone started with a newbie and also curious to learn.

It is simple mate get aquatinted with all the forum rules pinned on the respective board stick to the rules in each boards avoid spamming and plagiarism and most importantly do your research for every information received on the forum to ensure it's accuracy of the information because every information is a strong hold on the community

There's an important "thing" to learn in addition to the rules and that "growing thick skin" if one doesn't want forum stress and beef to get to them.

You're kidding, right? I bet this part you're trying to jettison may even be the reason most people are here. Let's not pretend we haven't benefited from the supposed stipends this forum offers through signature campaigns. I don't think there's any other crypto site that equals that. Well, if there's I like to hear about such sites.

This was like a blow to the previously banned members who were too hopeful of getting it. Let's just say that the OP has got his first warning after getting a directive to the forum rules thread and no second warning.

This is what I would like to say to OP but I think he's too concerned about how to avoid being tagged by the moderators. Usually if you are just reading in the future you won't be having any problem with them but when you start some shady stuff or posting some spammy stuff or making something that would most likely going to results in a disadvantage to the other person/forum users, then you are making yourself as a target by the moderators.

And besides with the sticky, just read all about the rules of the forum, that's what they want you and your brother to understand in the forum.
