Title: Newbie status even with more than 30 activity
Post by: vifzor on June 17, 2022, 06:50:02 AM
Hello everyone,

I have been trying to use the DM function but I couldn't unfortunately. I read the sticky thread and it seems to normally finish after 30 posts.

But I still can't send DM. Why is that the case?

Thanks

That's because on top of 30 activity you have to earn at least 1 merit to reach Jr Member rank which you failed so far. Read more about merit system and ranks in general here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2766177.0

Newbie can send PM, but it depends if to whom a newbie want to send to like if the user (higher ranks) don't allow to get a message from newbies, here's a thread[1] how it is explained.

I don't know where you get the idea of getting 30 posts can make newbie to send a message. But Im thinking its because a newbie might become jr member already by making 30 posts, but that was before everything was change after merit implementation[2].

If you want to send PMs like with a member restrictions, probably can send with shorter time limit than newbie and jr member, then paying for copper membership is your option[3].

Edit: Merit sent to experience jr member restrictions

If you actively want to spread and advertise your business (I didn't go into details), I don't think it would be a good idea.
Letters from newbies with such content are very often regarded as spam.
I went through your posts, you very actively want to impose your services through PM. Following the example of this post.

Hey OP,

I tried to send you a PM but I couldn't so I'll send you my message here.

I think users will complain about you very soon.
OP is happily spitting out insubstantial shitposts pretending to be "engaged":
This coin is still alive?
Alright, I will def follow up after 1th of July!
is it so hard to answer?
Is this project dead?
When are you launch Myntist?
Is there a discord actually?
sorry discord link doesn't work. Is it normal?
Do you have any community such as discord or telegram?
Is there a website actually?
Hey I would love to help you! How can I reach you?
Is there any TG chatgroup yet?
Is this project dead?
Hey there! Any way I can contact the project head? Dm aren't possible!
Would you mind sharing your TG or drop me a DM here? Thanks!
I have a question regarding your roadmap
Looks interesting I will follow up!

This is typical for bump spam or Newbies trying to rank up. Welcome to my ignore list.

That was kind of you, and I always like seeing members I don't recognize giving away their merits to help others (though whether OP should've earned a merit here is iffy to me, but whatever).  Props to you for that.

OP, I assume you tried to send a PM to somebody, which you should have been able to do.  What kind of message did you get when it didn't go through?

Ugh, I read your post after writing the above.  He definitely shouldn't have gotten any merits here, but I think PX-Z had good intentions.  Vifzor, if you're working toward earning merits you might want to step up the quality of your posts by a factor of 100 at least.  You don't want to end up on the ignore lists of merit sources, and creating this thread isn't helping you.

Sadly, incredibly common tactic. Usually, they then start pumping out some decent or at least passable content that gets them a few merits to rank up. Very common of alt farmers, although I'm not exactly accusing the OP here of that. Although, most of the super low quality posts have been removed.

Hopefully, they'll take that as a warning, and improve.

Or banned. Although, I do agree that PX-Z likely did have the best of intentions, and wanted to help a new user out. Can't hold anything against them for that.

Thank you now I understand!

As a newbie, you are eligible to get some merit from me for demonstrating that you have the ability to sign a message.  It's a pretty simple task and if you have a Bitcoin wallet, it shouldn't take you more than a couple of minutes.  I'd recommend taking a look and getting your merit journey started there.  Like a struggling musician who throws some coins in their guitar case to spur donations from others, maybe having a few more merit will get people to more freely send you more.  :)

Here's a link to the thread but I don't check it as frequently as I should so have some patience.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5300698.0

OP I think all you want to know has been given by our forum mates, all you want to do now is to study and read more about the rules to know more about this forum.  If you want to earn more merits take the opportunity of what OgNasty said, if you have a bitcoin wallet address then you can earn merits just follow the instructions. And also be patient cause what OG said

Tsk, I usually check users' history post before sending merit it just like i was really convinced that the intentions of op is good and just innocent asking how things work so i forgot checking its previous posts. But after getting notified from telegram (late seen) and got back here seeing loyce post, i feel like regrets.
But i really hope op comes to his senses and do things what is right.

All the OP wanted was to send spam in PM. And I don’t even see any reason to quote his useless posts, just wasting time on him. I went through history before writing my post, and half of his posts were deleted.
OP, as expected, having a 2017 registration, you came back with bad intentions, but fortunately, there is a very good moderation that simply will not allow you to do what you planned.
