Title: Sweatcoins will be launching this summer...Is it worth it?
Post by: Abiky on June 27, 2022, 12:41:00 AM
There's an app called "Sweatcoin" which basically pays you by doing nothing other than walking. Each 1,000 steps will be equal to 1 Sweatcoin. Back then, the coin used to be proprietary from the app itself. But lately, the company took the decision to launch it as a real cryptocurrency. Apparently, the new coin will be launching this summer to be later traded at crypto exchanges. This reminds me of a similar coin that used to pay people for walking called "MangoCoinz". It didn't turn out to be a huge success, so I wonder if this new coin (Sweatcoin) will have the same fate as its predecessor?

What do you think about Sweatcoin? Is it worth walking/doing exercise just to get paid coins in return? If not, why? Do you think the project will have a future? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

AFAIK, Sweatcoin isn't really a new token. I think they were already there for the past years and became popular once but after that, they didn't materialized with their popularity. Not until the coins like stepn came that has the same algorithm as them about walking.
I would like to earn while getting some pounds off of me but whether they're going to be worth it to take or not as an incentive, we should really have that routine of getting healthy through any means like walking.

Why don't you just run every day without expecting any profit from these applications that are unnecessary?

It's likely that this shitcoin will get access to your personal information and eventually sell it to data brokers if it asks you to download its application in exchange for a negligibly small payment.

And from a simple search, many reddit users says that their economy is fucked up..

I will exercise not because I'm being paid but because I want myself to be healthy and not be prone to health problems.
Sweatcoins have been there for a long time but they became an abandoned project. I tried downloading their shitty app years ago and I didn't expect that they will re-develop their old project again. It's because Move-2-Earn concept is becoming a hype that's why they decided to create it again?

Like @Maus0728 said, as long as we users will not give our personal information to them then I might try to use it but I'm not expecting too much from them. If they will really pay then good but if not then ok. What make me curious is what will be the use of their tokens? I mean in some P2E games, the tokens that we are farming are being used to burn. In Move-2-Earn concept, I don't know what will be the use case of the tokens that we will be getting.

Imho this is stupid. It doesn't solve anything and you probably can hack your phone to think you walked a thousand miles and collect the coins/tokens. Not that it would be even worth the time. There's a reason why MangoCoinz wasn't a success story, and i am unsure why these people want to take that same road.

What do you mean by this site: https://sweatco.in/

There are actually a lot of apps that really do almost the same as sweatcoin maybe with this.
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/step/
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/step-app/

Apart from all that this is a new coin which at first will be hype but I don't really pay attention to it so I will see how it develops later.

I think there is no point in installing the Sweatcoin application. You won’t earn much on this, since the cost of the token in my experience will not be very high. Why install another unnecessary sports app? Personally, I am quite satisfied with Strava for sports and relaxation from cryptocurrencies.

I am also collecting this sweatcoin since the time a friend introduce me and convince me to download the app, i have gathered quite a number of sweatcoin, all that is required to do is go about your daily activities and the app will count all your footstep for that day.  Am not sure if this will turn out to be a worthy project or not or if the coins will trade at a reasonable price but am just having fun with it, between it cost me nothing.
one thing i observe is in the app there is a store where you can buy item with the sweatcoin you have earned, although i haven't try it out.
I think move to earn is going to be the new hype if marketed well, and it will not just end up being only a hype but a real utility project because you really have to move around for you to be able to earn. This is new so it's not easy to determined what will be the success level.

Almost most of the new tokens that come out in cryptocurreny are for them to get investors they will say all sweet words and promises they're doing it for the sake of funds only, and once they  raise big funds, I just hope they won't run in the end. So with every new token it is very hard to trust immediately and issue capital for this, so as an investor we still need to be extra careful so that we do not regret it later.

All projects in which are new to this cryptocurrency has future, we just don't know if it is good or bad, or it would depend still in the whitepaper
they have in accordance to their roadmap and how aggressive they got to achieve it in the near future.

This is the new trend now get paid to move, run or jog made popular by Step and Step-App, Sweatcoin is not the first get paid to move coin, they just get in after they saw these two projects are doing great in the market, they should have started this trend because they are already here before those two projects come to existence, anyway they have a good chance in the market they already have a huge community already, they will just roll out the coin.

I think this is almost the same as COIN apps which have XYO as their token (if I am not mistaken). You only need to install the app, run the app, and see what reward you can get. You can collect your coin named XYO and send it to your wallet and sell it. But it needs time before you can collect a big amount.

I think I know if that is worth it or not because I am not followed the news about the token. You should search for more information about how they will pay you by using the app.

These kind of coins are not really cryptocurrency. If these coins are available in any exchange, then the entire ecosystem will fail. So it has to be confined within their app where the users can redeem against some vouchers or cashback offers. That's it! That's how they will be able to sustain the business and its cost needs to be controlled by the issuer itself.

The moment it is added to an exchange, the entire ecosystem will fail. So as an investment, this is a super bad choice.

It's just another gimmick to scam people out of theor money.  There is no need for this.  Iran I'm not opposed to people getting in better shape but the people creating these coins or ecosystems don't care at all.  It's just about swindling people put of their eth or bitcoin that's it.

After seeing the successful launch of stepN (GMT) I think we are going to be seeing more of similar move to earn project in the market. There is also a new one called Menzy - an "AI move2earn full body project" incubated by poolz project, they just had there IGO on seedify and other launchpad. I think the project has a very high standard.
Let's hope this Sweatcoin such high quality and will be more smart and use the right platform to market their project and conduct fundraising events too.

There are different projects and apps following this same concept, and indeed, who doesn't want to be paid just for walking? That is a very welcome income for something you have to do everyday anyway.

However, I'm not ready to adopt this for two reasons: first, because I would have to turn internet on all day long at my smartphone when walking on the streets, what means extra costs for hiring internet data and I doubt the income from Sweatcoins can cover the expenses. Second, because I don't feel confortable being watched and monitored by a third party service everywhere I go.

Who knows if these services sell your informations about the places you go to unknown people on the internet? I'm sure it's possible, just like social medias were already caught doing.

It is worth moving around, walking and doing exercise even without any reward because of the health benefits.  Having an extra reward is a bonus.  But I wonder about how Sweatcoin will get value, and what are the benefits of holding these coins.

I also think that this kind of system is unsustainable.  I wonder where they can get the fund to back up the market.

data mining is very common in modern apps, specially in those that offer rewards for free, (like promising free money by simply walking) they attract a lot people. There's no such thing as free money in the real world, let alone free crypto, so the fact that the former is the main selling point of this app already raises a big red flag. I wouldn't call it a scam, but I'd be careful around this Sweatcoin thing

That simple words are enough to say that this project is obviously a scam. Nobody will be able to give you free money in the first place and besides, this project's app is not helping in the community. And the question is, where do they get the money to pay from the users if it was a free app?

Well, we can expect a lot of people to join the party and enjoy walking. Maybe we can still use the app but never expect for such an offer to come as that is impossible.

Yes, I'm aware about that. But this time's different since the company will be launching the coin as a real cryptocurrency (not a proprietary token you can only use within the app itself). You'll be able to trade Sweatcoins for crypto, just like you would with any other altcoin being traded across crypto exchanges worldwide. I know you won't be earning that much walking for coins. But at least, it's better something than nothing. MangoCoinz and other similar projects turned out to be a huge failure, so I wouldn't count on Sweatcoins as a long-term investment anytime soon. Who knows if people move on to the next big thing in crypto? Just my thoughts ;D

I believe like some other poster here thinks, what would you lose in getting some coins for doing what you would normally do for nothing  :) I go for a road walk every weekend and earning some coin for that isn't bad I noticed that Sweatcoin can be used in-app shops at the moment and as you said, after launch instead of the 1k steps to 1 sweatcoin it will be 5k steps to 1 SWEAT which will be the new coin. Lets see how it goes, it doesn't take anything out of me for now ;D
