Title: Coins with daily usability
Post by: Kweek on June 27, 2022, 07:59:44 PM
Given that Bitcoin is considered a store of value, can you use a cryptocurrency that can guarantee day-to-day usability? How to go to bakeries, fill up the car, travel, etc? Do you know any coins like this?

Well, you have just said the crypto that has the high usage for those things and it's bitcoin.

Other than that, it will all depend on those merchants, stores, and business establishments if they'll add another crypto for the payments for the products that they're selling to everyone.

But usually, we see that it's not just bitcoin that has it but some of the top altcoins as well. Another factor is the location, if there's not that much crypto adoption in an area, whether it is bitcoin, you barely see those acceptance of crypto payments.

So you are after something that will immediately reflect on the vendor's wallet? There are a lot of other coins that can confirm faster than BTC like Doge and LTC or even XRP. You can try them all if you have no problem with all the issues thrown against them. One coin I do not recommend you using is ETH since transaction fees are higher than the rest.

 :o

there are thousands of people who use bitcoin to pay for travel, food, cell phone recharge, pay in hotels, pay bills, haven't you read that in El Salvador people can pay for things using bitcoin? from what i read there altcoins are not as used as bitcoin. I for example use bitcoin to buy cell phone recharge, I also use litecoin to buy cell recharge, if in my country I could pay more things using bitcoin I would pay without problems. unfortunately I still can't pay more things using bitcoin

So you are after something that will immediately reflect on the vendor's wallet?

OP just wants to campaign for altcoins, he must be angry about bitcoin crash

A large number of stores which accept bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can be found googling. At present you might find stores accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but they might not be having the service you need. So, you need to go find the one you need. With time this will change and we can find every store having the wallet QR code for receiving the cryptocurrency payments.

Right now El Salvador, Brazil and Venezuela seems to have majority of the stores with cryptocurrency payment access. In an documentary saw a street vendor accepting bitcoin payments in Venezuela.

Peoe just say bitcoin is a store of value, why couldn't you use bitcoin for things like this.  People use bitcoin for these things right now.  You are only gonna get responses from people who want to pump theor bags.  I wouldn't listen to anyone pitching a specific coin.

^ Why not choose BTC alone?
All you have said above was the usability of BTC and for sure there is more usability that can BTC do but usually, people choose to store value than use it as a currency. In altcoins, they have different functions, you can use them all in one coin only even in ETH.
Sorry but I did not hear any when it comes to payment, only BTC can do and is widely accepted.

up until now, bitcoin is the leading cryptocurrency when it comes to payment method. even if we say, the fees are expensive or the confirmation is too slow. still, most users and merchants are promoting the use of btc. though there are secondary alts like xrp, ltc, bnb or eth. still the most known crypto when it comes to payment sector is BTC. so the usability depends on the person and the availability of the merchant that will accept your btc payment. this is your job to know shops which are accepting crypto around your area, because some of them are not advertising it openly.

Well you can but as the price fluctuates and you buy with your gains, every time you make a purchace you need to reserve taxes to pay for that too. Unless you are trying not to get caught by irs or who ever deals with taxes on country you live in.

Any coins can be used for those things. The ability was coming when you are using pay service. The coin like binance coin was giving you ability to make your binance pay service available and you can use it for your daily needs like shooping, buying something else like fuel and many more. So, it's not all of coins were able to be used for that but as long as you are using the service like binance pay and your coin can be spent for your daily activity.
The point is if you must have registered as the use for the service like binance pay. The same thing when you were signing up into the apple pay

As far as I understand Altcoins are rarely used, for everyday payment methods, indeed many companies use smart contracts on several altcoin platforms. But in the biggest daily use case is Bitcoin which used every day, by both sellers and buyers. You can also see who has the highest nominal in the Market Cap, and also many shops around the world that have accepted Bitcoin payments. Anyway we also have countries that legally adopted Bitcoin and become the currency of that country, you can look for more news in any media about this.

DId you meant if you can spend your coin to be used to buy a ticket, foods and something else as usability for your token? why don't you convert to the cash and then you can use it to buy something else? I think that if it will be very complicated but im sure that whole of legit tokens have ability to be used for what you have mentioned above but the problem is whether the service was accepting it or not. That's why using some service by exchange sites make you able to fully using it.

I think only a few coins can be used depending on where you live and whether the store you are going to supports crypto payments, but what I often hear is that the coins that can be used are BTC, Doge, XRP (if I'm not mistaken.) because I only read articles never make transactions directly

That's what Bitcoin is lol, it's can be used as a currency for daily transactions. I believe you're live in where Bitcoin is still in grey area or didn't accept Bitcoin at all, if you're live in El Salvador, you will see many businesses already accept Bitcoin payment as an alternative, so you can pay anything with Bitcoin. However if you want to try to buy stuffs with Bitcoin, then this thread will help you [LIST"] Where to spend Bitcoin? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5367983.0)

This is exactly what many altcoins tried to do in the first few years of their inception. However things took a different turn which smashed their optimism. You see, you need merchants accepting an altcoin as payment for that dedicated service. Or they have to start a new chain of services under a name in order to sell their products or services in exchange of that token. Starting this from scratch is a whole different ballgame. Most companies who were raising capital in the first years of ICO craze wanted to do this but after understanding the reality they stepped back and changed their vision to something less daunting eventually dying out.

Such ventures will take time and a lot of investment from the owners to compete with the existing market leaders. Hence it is difficult for a niche group to start this. But maybe in future we will see more adoption in crypto and gradually commonly known merchants will be accepting bitcoin, altcoins and their own specific token as well.

For me now, the coin is the one that makes a profit. And this coin will be considered a daily use for me. Since I am always looking for those coins in the cryptocurrency market that, according to my forecast, will fall or rise in price in the near future. In order to make a profit later when selling coins. And so I do every day using cryptocurrency exchanges where you can sell the most popular coins. And after selling coins, I buy BTC to use them on different services to buy the right things.

Btc is the most accepted coin in most online/offline stores. Other altcoins can be eth, xrp, trx, bnb (not so sure) depending on the store or business. I think for every business out there that accept crypto as alternative payment option btc is always included, whatever other popular altcoins they decide to included btc is always available.
In a nutshell, btc is the only coin I believe that has the highest day to day usability because of the high number of acceptance, btc may be considered as store of value by the majority but it still remains the most widely used.

Bitcoin is not only the best store of value that we have in this market it is also the best coin to use for your everyday needs, for some time it was believed that bitcoin will end up like gold and only be held by whales and be used on big transactions.

But thanks to the lightning network now you can use bitcoin even for small purchases once again and pay a low fee because of it, so do not get deceived by those which say that bitcoin cannot be used in this way anymore because they are lying so they can try to promote their coin as the solution to those nonexistent problems.

If you think you will find the coin that will be more accepted than bitcoin, forget it. Bitcoin with lighting is very perfectly usable as a daily currency, so there is no room for an altcoin.

Although some altcoins are becoming available to pay for goods and services, the use of these coins as a means of payment, much less everyday payment, is being minimized. This is true even for bitcoin, which as a means of payment is more widespread than other cryptocurrencies. The reason for this is that people do not see cryptocurrencies as a means of payment or try to give cryptocurrencies utilitarian properties. All use of bitcoin and altcoin comes down to speculation and pump&dump schemes.

Nope! For a cryptocurrency to become usable on a daily basis, needs to cut down on the transaction fees. In the current situation, none of the cryptocurrencies are fit for daily use. Many people would argue that in some cryptos, the fees are very less and have fast confirmation time. But my question is that - why would I pay fees on transactions?

If I buy something for $10, I want to precisely pay $10 only and I want immediate payment confirmation. So for daily transactions, fiat is the best option we have.

at the moment some altcoins provide e-commerce services but it seems that users are less interested in it while for daily use I think it is easier to use fiat with a need for a few cents....because not all shops and traditional markets provide payment services crypto-based except that with the use of larger funds then using bitcoin is more profitable

Just take the example of the exchange coins, they're used every day for their own platform. And the same goes for casino coins, they're also being used daily for their own purpose whether it's for the casino, staking, or trading. But for an overall use, nothing beats bitcoin and that's for real.

If you think you will find the coin that will be more accepted than bitcoin, forget it. Bitcoin with lighting is very perfectly usable as a daily currency, so there is no room for an altcoin.
I agree and if there will be an alternative it will be ETH but with a fee? I don't think it's the most ideal.

I think Bitcoin is currently not fully used for travel, bakeries, etc. as daily transactions.

USDT in my opinion is a good step if you use it as a daily coin, because the usdt value is relatively stable in terms of dollars, so to use it as a main payment is not too difficult, easy for you to use and exchange with fiat anywhere.

Being based upon bitcoin's source code means it has a proven blockchain and infrastructure, but with the added benefits of being able to transfer non-digital assets efficiently. Right now, few people actually use these coins for anything other than holding. But I think many investors have an interest in this type of currency and believe we will see better real-world applications within the next year or two.

I think the key takeaway from this should be that a store of value is quite different from a currency. For one thing, a currency does not necessarily need to be digital, which is an important distinction. Cash qualifies as both a store of value and a currency, but it's not digital. its physical nature means that it's entirely usable in every country around the world, despite having to be transacted face-to-face.

A bitcoin transaction is slower compared to some altcoins, some altcoins send a transaction in half a second, Bitcoin can't do all this alone that's why it won't be the only coin that survives in the long run, any smart merchants out there must be willing to accept more than just BTC as means of payment.

nowadays Bitcoin is being widely accepted in so many IRL Stores. Companies. and in so many online digital markets and websites. so I think Bitcoin is that coin you are looking for. other than Bitcoin I prefer a Stablecoin in a fast Chain. I like USDC but for these kind of quick transactions and shopping. I'd prefer BUSD because it is pretty fast in confirming. very efficient in such occasions.

A lot of time I see "Bitcoin accepted" tag at the door but I have never seen yet one altcoin that is being accepted as a payment option.
In physical usability I cannot name one, but in online usage there's a lot. An example would be in gambling platforms where options like BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC and more.
The other one is BNB which is mostly used now for transactions as NFT's are using BSC as for withdrawals and deposits because of its cheap transaction fee.
We are not yet on that time that cryptocurrency is being used by merchants. Credit cards are still number 1 and so is cash.

After Bitcoin I consider Litecoin a decent store of value asset I have paid my internet data bills many times through Litecoin although in my country there are not much LTC use cases available nevertheless I believe in near future there will be more use cases available because the adoption of crypto currencies in my country is increasing rapidly so I am expecting more usability options of Litecoin and BTC in future.

I don't know any altcoin that can be used for day-to-day usabilities such as payment for bakeries, marketplace, or transportation.  But I know some altcoins that can be used to pay bills, and buy online products since many third-party payment gateways are able to integrate some cryptocurrency as a mode of payment.

Cryptocurrency is yet to attain that height at which it would be used for mundane transactions, the best we have now is for a cryptocurrency to be accepted by individual merchants. Some merchants have built a system at which cryptos could be readily converted to fiat without barriers and as such accepts a wide range of cryptocurrencies.

This would be dependent on the company that is taking up on it. There are a lot of people who are trying to accept their supported altcoins. I'm thinking of this as the total volume being generated when using the actual coins, and a study shows that 88% of the total volume of cryptocurrencies is held by the top 10 cryptocurrencies in the digital world. So probably the coins that will have the daily usability would come from the top 10 unless the business owners will have their own or something,

The top 10 currencies now (upon posting)
BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, BNB, BUSD, ADA, XRP, SOL, DOGE.

I would expect that these are the currencies that could dominate the usability.

When it comes to daily usability, the best coin we have is bitcoin. This is because bitcoin has the highest acceptance rate in the world, the second could be ethereum and probably a few others. Every other altcoin are held for investment purposes and not for their usability. The world is yet to accept cryptocurrency and this could be tied to the fact that the market is volatile in nature.

Bitcoin has been really functional. It's being used to purchase different stuff and even being used to pay for services. There are just limits since not all business types accept cryptocurrency. In our country, we're able to pay our bills using Bitcoin which is really convenient. I'm sure that there will come a time that even huge businesses would mind accepting cryptocurrencies.

Now In addition to Bitcoin, there are many other coins that guarantee day-to-day usability. But the use of Bitcoin is the most. And because it is protected from other alt-coins, it is widely used in the world and has the highest trade volume. So if I have to prefer a coin, I'll suggest Bitcoin first. Then I would suggest Ethereum, BNB, LTC as alt-coin as their use is increasing day by day.

This is what many of those which are holding altcoins simply do not get, even if a coin has a massive market cap that does not mean the coin is used for anything in particular, traders and investors only speculate with the price and they are not interested in using such coin for their daily purchases.

Bitcoin and ethereum monopolize almost all the real purchases made with cryptocurrencies, with bitcoin holding a huge lead over ethereum as well to the point I have yet to see a single website in which you could pay with ethereum but not with bitcoin.
