Post by: cygan on July 07, 2022, 07:12:49 PM

in the LP artworks i always like the 'anonymous mask' and how the artist shows in detail the history of the BTC with all the colors and the detail on the pictures.
with the paintings of mx12.levins I find the streetsytle very successful and also here you can see the high quality of the work

though most of the art is sending a message. each person has different preferences.
for me art has to send a message/story but also be very detailed,  where there is so much going on that it surprises you every time you see it by noticing something new, even after looking at it multiple times

this is a good example of what i mean about the detail stuff where lots of things are happening where you notice new things every time (the middle and right canvas's)

also i see a alot more effort and time and work went into these styles of art so id be willing if i ever bought art to put more money towards art like this compared to the simple "poster" format art.. but thats just my preference and thoughts

i know others like ones that are more 'poster' form where its a simple in your face message..
each to their own i say. art is for those viewing it. everyone has different tastes.

as for the 'simple message' format artworks i personally prefer the ones where the message is not a word format (like a poster) but using symbolic imagery using known common reference/trends.. EG

(note this is not commissioned artwork. its a quick mock display to show a demo of a message without words)

@franky1 i totally agree. but not only the right and middle canvas clearly shows a story but the whole painting tells a great story and is, like other artworks by Lucho Poletti also nice to look at with the augmented reality (ar) app ;)

yea i wasnt dissing the other slates of canvas of the piece. i was just demonstrating my personal preference of if i was to look at something more then once. i prefer to have it be alive with lots of things to keep my interest.

the other pieces do have value and show talent. its more of my preference of preferring seeing the details in things and finding new things within the detail.  that said. other pieces can peak my interest if the message is subtle or not so much in your face but takes you a bit to think about the meaning. even for a few seconds

i know each piece means different things to different people. and some do just want to have a motivational BANG in your face thing. so as said, each piece of art has its values(features and benefits) to whomever views it from their own prospective

i will like to go for this artwork because it's self explanatory, its a display in action and has the message directed to the audience regardless of location, its an expression, doing what is best, known and good at, in an atmosphere like this, the entire audience create interest on a particular value and they got satisfied by the dispensation in that esteemed value they wanted, it talks more of courage, confidence and determination with a resilient mind to achieve purpose in life, doing what you're best known to do.

Surprised no one mentioned Pascal Boyart yet. His Hal Finney art made up of torn-up dollar bills is one of the most iconic Bitcoin-related art in my opinion.

I thought that he was only known for his murals, which are really something that decorates the streets of many cities and I personally like them much more than the art paintings that someone buys and keeps in his private collection. I remember this artist because he has a profile (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2332109) on this forum and I know that I posted in some of his first threads.

Besides Hal Finney, there are identical portraits of Dorian Nakamoto & Nick Szabo.

I've been a big fan of Fantasy Art for years, notably Boris Vallejo and Tim White so Bitcoin
and Crypto art generally fall into a type of fantasy art IMO.

I really like the art by Nina Yankovich or Nina Y., a mix of fantasy portrait art.

I would vouch for Poletti as well, but predominantly for the artwork without text but just hidden symbols and meanings.  I find mysterious artwork to be the most fascinating for me compared to basic artwork like an object with a phrase around it.  On the other hand, the latter is more 'dumb-proof' as in they can be understood without much thinking and contemplation.  Maybe for interior design of a bar a text artwork may fit more.  It is like a T-Shirt, you get the idea and the meaning way faster than contemplating secrets of a mysterious art.

I've known this guy years ago when his art went viral. IIRC, that was the mural with some prizes and code in it.
CMIIW.
He's also my favorite artist that creates arts related to bitcoin/crypto.

I actually came across Pascal Boyart's work as one of his murals and how he has painted
a QR code to his address for donations, that was a few years ago but I never followed on
to seek him out for his other works.

Has anyone heard of Nelly Baksht?
She has quite a big catalogue of Crypto Art with a lot of limited edition prints currently
for sale.

^^Yeah, quite pleased to have met Pascal on forum, he went on to do some interviews and then introduced us to his wider network of Bitcoin artists, also very cool people and actually artistic...  Offence meant to the majority of NFT artists heh.

Nanu Berks was another we interviewed after they did an exhibit in France, Argentinian IIRC.

Also to note they were part of a broader movement back then (the yellow jackets in France) so I dig those kinds of art and activism. And Bitcoin spoke loudly for them.
