Title: Coming sooner: ETH devs move up the date for Merge
Post by: FMCPAY_GLOBAL on August 12, 2022, 07:59:36 AM
Ethereum’s transition to Proof-of-Stake is inching ever closer after developers agreed to a tentative date for the mainnet merge.

The Ethereum Merge may be coming sooner than planned, after core developers announced a tentative Merge date of Sept. 15, which will see the blockchain transition to Proof-of-Stake.

The Ethereum mainnet Merge date came into view after core developers such as Tim Beiko and Prysmatic Labs co-founder Terence Tsao agreed in an Aug. 11 developer call it would be when Total Terminal Difficulty (TTD) hits 58750000000000000000000.

This was confirmed in a Github post titled "Tentative mainnet TTD" which was committed to by Beiko on Aug. 11.

As far as i know testnet gone successful. I hope that we will see thereum merge to come very soon. I just wanna see if scalability will be also getting impact from these update. Scalability has become the main problem along with the inflation. I hope that we will see a big change in ethereum scalability and inflation. Ethereum has burn mechanism but that doesn't enough.

The test net is a success, meaning there is finally no more waiting for the launch, I expect the Ethereum price to surge higher by September but a massive dump may occur later, I really want to be an holder but that's if we can get Ethereum for discount price.

Yes, as others have said the testnet merge is already successful, without any major issues. And so it means it will be a go on September 19, to the mainnet as this is their target.

So hopefully there wil be no hitch or something big that is going to break on September 19 roll out.

This will be huge for Ethereum history as well, others noted that this is the biggest and most significance upgrade in any of the blockchain's history.

Very happy to hear that the Ethereum merge is getting closer, yes and they are said to be doing it in september,
of course this is great news for holders and the ethereum ecosystem is getting bigger,
and we will see a lot of altcoin projects will be built again on Ethereum, just like in 2017 , because Gas will be very cheap!

I do not think that it will come sooner than people expect, it will be a bit later. But that’s fine, because we are used to them postponing the date all the time, there isn't anything wrong with the current situation and we should be pretty pleased about it as well. I personally believe that the best thing to do right now would be making sure that ethereum doesn't fall if it doesn't happen on the right time, it could be another time.

Let’s say they made it on 1st of December, but when the day came they said instead first of new year (January 1st) then our job is to make sure that it doesn't drop in price because of it, if we can arrange that then the rest will be handled.

TTD prediction for The Merge 🐼

This is a very important event for the entire ecosystem. If the merger goes smoothly and not a single smart contract breaks, then this will be a good start for the development of a new scaled ecosystem.

how many times have I heard that there will be an update soon, but they will constantly postpone the release date for one reason or another, everyone is already tired of waiting and paying large commissions...when everything is definitely done, it will be a breakthrough.

Ethereum's merge will be a huge test for Ethereum as a very big update in Ethereum's history.
As a result, Ethereum will get more ecological, a very important step to prevent climate change.
We will see how Bitcoin can react because Bitcoin is still PoW and wastes a lot of energy.

Ethereum is really looking very bullish right now.

This is going to be highly anticipated for sure. How I wish I still have my ETH right now in which I am so stupid enough not to move them to my hardware wallet sooner. If I did, I could have saved it from getting hacked. But back then, I was too complacent in making my ETH safe in my Trust Wallet but I was wrong after accidentally engaged with a fake PDF file that turns out to be a malware.

My sister, however, she still has her ETH but currently at a loss because she bought it when the price was at $2k. Hopefully this would really be big for ETH's price when the merge comes up.

True, there is a speculation that ETH will shoot to like $2k-$2200, but we will have to see.

I'm sorry to hear that mate, I saw your thread about your wallet being hack, feeling for your lost. But no worries, you can still recover back. Just tell your sister to hold on that ETH and again see how the merger will affect the price because we are seeing it as having a positive impact in short term. And I guess there are also a lot of ETH holders anticipating this big event.

What I'm more excited with this merge isn't exactly the price for Ethereum but the drop for the GPU's price. It's known that mining ETH has made the demand huge for the GPUs. Now that it has come to stop soon and will become a PoS. There shall be a huge drop for the prices of GPU's globally. And that's more than the satisfaction of seeing the price of ETH shoots because many gamers including me and I'm sure there are a lot in here are waiting for that moment.

I may think there will be no change in the price of GPU and that would be remain the same. All of GPU owned by miners will be moved to the ETC. We have some alternative POW coins that can be mined right now. You must not forget about that.
ETC becomes the most potential candidate for the next migration from miners as ethereum will be moving to the POS. I know that miners were making GPU price become quite expensive.

The Ethereum Merge may be coming sooner than planned, after core developers announced a tentative Merge date of Sept. 15, which will see the blockchain transition to Proof-of-Stake.

Updated today with

Mainnet Merge Announcement:
-Ethereum is moving to proof-of-stake! The transition, known as The Merge, must first be activated on the Beacon Chain with the Bellatrix upgrade. After this, the proof-of-work chain will migrate to proof-of-stake upon hitting a specific Total Difficulty value.
-The Bellatrix upgrade is scheduled for epoch 144896 on the Beacon Chain – 11:34:47am UTC on Sept 6, 2022.
-The Terminal Total Difficulty value triggering The Merge is 58750000000000000000000, expected between Sept 10-20, 2022.

This or wenmerge.com give a good estimate on The Merge date and well as diff bomb.
Diff bomb might goes off around that time after many delays. The last diff bomb should have been gone off at July but was delayed by 700,000 blocks.

The test net is a success, meaning there is finally no more waiting for the launch, I expect the Ethereum price to surge higher by September but a massive dump may occur later, I really want to be an holder but that's if we can get Ethereum for discount price.

The Ethereum price probably will rising just before the Ethereum 2.0 mainnet launch because people want to use their ETH to stake on the network and getting reward. Now the question is, will the ethereum price keep rising after mainnet launched ?
Will the miners still be able to mine Ethereum ? If the miners can't mine it anymore, im afraid the ETH price won't be sustainable in the future.

Ehhh. I doubt that even though staking feature on blockchain will be available because the amount of APY will determine if investors will purchase or not because Ethereum staking is already available on centralized exchange with low APY and if the blockchain staking will offer similar APY to the CEX then I doubt this will be a game changer for ETH. The reason why people is hype on this is because of the news and not the improvement. This a common pattern on crypto that the price keeps pumping when the mainnet is near to release then dump after. There’s already an ETH pump due to this merger news but the gains is already erased after whales take profit and leave retail traders that FOMO buy behind.

I hate to break the party but don’t expect much on this merger or mainnet.

This is a new technological invention that Ethereum crypto lovers and miners have been waiting for.Because every transaction will be verified by an entity called validator.Ethereum will implement The Merge which means the chain will completely change its set of agreements as it is deployed.
Lol miners will be wiped out caused by this update. Validators didn't need any mining operations anymore caused by it can be done through staking ethereum to validating any transaction. It has implemented with beacon chain. I think that you must understand that this is the thing that makes so many people feeling worried about that. The fact that if people didn't even aware if miners are looking for new POW coin to migrate.
